The Fishing Guild Member npc is now enabled again as the issue has been resolved. Changes are: "insert solution here"

I really hope the fishing system will be fixed soon. It's an important means for legit players that aren't in the top clans of the server to make some adena (and it's much more reliable than the random rewards from dailies).
As to some people calling it an exploit that it was possible to sell head accessory recipes to NPC merchants for 200k. I can't really follow that logic. I've returned to L2 from a long break about a week ago and also wanted to try and see how the new fishing system works, remembered I was able to make some money with it, before, when it was introduced for the first time (I crafted Chapeaus and sold them for 50m for example which was a lot for me back then, or I simply sold the Proofs of Catching Fish which was also a good, steady income). Now, after an hour of testing the new Valiance fishing system, one of the first things I checked was the NPC value of recipes and parts and I noticed: "Oh, 200k for a party mask recipe. That's not bad. So as a worst case scenario, that's how much I can make per hour." I then decided to craft a head accessory and got lucky: with my first try I got a Party Mask Pendant Pouch which I opened and inside was a Party Mask with +10% M.Atk. Wow, I could hardly believe this! O_O So I decided to use the mats I got from fishing to craft head accessories so I could sell them for profit (except for the large fish which I used to make stew instead).
Now, hearing that some people got banned (!) for selling an item to an NPC, I'm glad I decided to take the risk and do crafts instead, but I really can't see how this could be considered an exploit.
Now, don't get me wrong. I hate bots, have hated them since I first saw them in this game back in 2004, and every account related to a fishing bot should be banned, in my opinion, but the fishing system itself is not an exploit! It's an alternative grind that offers almost no exp but more adena. As far as I remember, it was never possible in L2 to get good equipment by just leveling up a character (who could afford A grade when their first character reached lv 61?). You had to find an alternative way to make some adena. Either by hunting for/spoiling mats that were in high demand, making a dwarf alt, playing the market, doing quests like the coin quest that required some investment at the beginning, or by fishing. Raid drops were also a big help, crafting lots of items could also help. You had to be really lucky with rare drops if you wanted to have good gear as soon as you reached the required level. With that in mind, I think the fishing system, the new one, which has better rewards, adjusted to the much better quest and rare drop rewards in GoD, has its place in this game as one of many ways for players to work on their in-game wealth instead of their levels and it should not be abolished! It's especially useful for players that aren't totally new to the game who have gotten a few levels into Awakening already but who aren't super rich yet like many veterans and players from top clans.
The real problem here, as they have always been, are the bots which make the game less enjoyable for everyone except those who are used to cheat.
(On a side note: I got about one head accessory pendant per 60 crafts in the end, so if anyone was exploiting the community it was the people selling these accessories for absoultely ridiculous prices. But that is their right, it's how the market works :) I also see nothing wrong in the fact, that head accessories with stats are far more accessible now, so more players can actually afford to buy one. It's the normal cause of an MMORPG that items after a while get more accessible and there have been much more extreme cases in the history of L2.)

it was possible to buy Arrows from the store. it was also possible to buy so many arrows that the cost to buying them was OVER the 2.1billion adena cap (at that point of the game) and into Negative numbers. essentially it made the store Give you adena and a ton of arrows which you could destroy.
this is, for all intents and purposes the same idea. you get a lot of items for free from fishing for more than the cost of farming the fish, and you turn a profit simply by extracting adena from NPC's. give a bot a fishing rod and watch him harvest billions of adena in the time it takes to type a post.

I don't think your comparison is fair. The exploit you mention obviously could create infinite amounts of adena in no time at all. Fishing requires someone to play the game! It creates items with values out of nowhere just as hunting mobs does! People have far exaggerated on these forums how much adena one can actually make with fishing and selling fish gems. If a lv 91-95 Char with the best fishing skills for that level and the best fishing rod (hero) fishes for 60 minutes in the instance on fantasy island then that's about 15m adena per hour created out of nowhere. Yet, a few months ago, dozens and dozens of parties of bots, could equally create the same amount of adena out of nothing (no shots used) while hunting in areas such as Giants Cave, Antharas' Lair, Monastery of Silence, Stakato Nest, Hellbound(!!!) and I'm sure there's others that I don't know of where botting was rampant. The problem is not the fishing system, it's botting.
(And I've seen obvious exploits in this game before like the raid boss hitting a baby pet and dying of reflection damage or the leveling exploit with striders and I have never used them! But this, selling recipes to an NPC that you got from fishing - I just don't see how this could be considered an exploit.)

What Spudnik is trying to say, at least that how I understand it, is that with the fishing system as it was you were creating adena from the NPC instead of creating adena from monsters.

Before speaking you should inform yourself, gameguard isn't an antibot software but an antikeylogger, and in regards to this function looks like it works decently.
What we lack is a proper antibot software that's lighter than lameguard (which slows down clients like hell).

I don't think you know what you are talking about. Have you even tried fishing in Valiance? "Fishing isn't exactly hard"... It's all a matter of perspective. I don't find doing any kind of pve, crafting, trading, very hard either but I still expect a return for the time and money I invest.
To make money by fishing you have to spend a considerate amount of time and intial investment. You do not "gain a large amount of items with no effort". You invest time and adena that you could otherwise spend on hunting, crafting, pving, raiding, etc and therefor you must get something in return. In this fishing is no different from anything else. The value must be high enough to merit the effort of doing the investment and manual labor, and that is not an exploit.
The only exploit here is when you add bots to the equation and that is something you can do with most things in this game.
The fishing system was fine, the bots are the problem and now along with the bots legit player will pay the price as well, as usual.
Lets say u are a 99 lvl player and u want to buy a r99 weapon, u need like 4,5billions for the weapon and 1 SA. You need to fish every day for 4 hours for 2,5 months to get the money u need for that weapon, that doesn't look like an exploit to me... to invest 300 hours of your life just to get a weapon. But ofc that is a legit player.
Lets say u do that with 7 bots 24/7 for the same amount of time. Assuming u are making 15m/hour that's about 190 billions (2.5b/day) .... that is the problem.
Taking into consideration that NC eliminated pretty much every other way to make some adena in game (drops, spoils etc are nerfed beyond belief) and the cost of most items in game (including npc sellers like gems), NC is just trying to make the game totally depended on ncstore ... thats what they call free to play.

I dont care how easy you think fishing is, or if you excel at it, or if you are mediocre. It is not effortless. You have to click somewhere, or press a key on your keyboard.
If you dont do any of that to fish, you are botting. Botting is effortless. And botters should get banned.
But banning is not up to you and me, or any other player. It is for the GMs to do.
Agreed, I don't care about the fishing thing disable it for a year like the paddies till the price of hats go's up again.. not like they haven't created enough to keep the server going for a while, but please, for the love of all things holy fix the RB's xp or disable the timer on the path gear because I have 1 day left on my poor A grade Iss's gear and I still haven't hit 76. If people were smart they'd start selling a grade dual swords for a ton of adena b/c if my timer is going that means they all are.

If you do kama, the daily quests even the 900 quests the most you can get is 1 level a day, maybe 1.5, 2 on wednesdays when your vit refills, assuming you play every day, which I don't. Also assuming you're not trying to get to 99 on your main and dual class, which I am. This is an alt buffer that I really need for those days when all my friends decide to play that ******ed zombie game. I'm thinking less of myself since I have the adena and the gear to overcome MY issue after realizing it would be a problem.

Imagine (oh I know this will be difficult for some) you have a job, maybe even a family and you're a new player. You never knew about kama when it was useful in GoD so you don't even bother. You don't have a summoner alt to park at a 900 quest so they take all day. Hell you don't even realize the 900 quests GO to 900. You figure that extra bit is just till you get sick of trying to claim your spot from all the greedy dwarves and summoners who never go away when you tell them to stop ksing you (bots). Someone showed you how to do von hellman and raid bosses a few weeks ago and you were so excited, but the xp is broken now. Again no summoner makes everything take longer. So one day you log in and you're naked because you didn't hit 76 before the timer ran out. Maybe you can buy crappy gear from the ram coins but after having the path gear it's a kick to the nuts. My poor imaginary friend is now playing DayZ with all of my real imaginary friends, game over.

If you do kama, the daily quests even the 900 quests the most you can get is 1 level a day, maybe 1.5, 2 on wednesdays when your vit refills, assuming you play every day, which I don't. Also assuming you're not trying to get to 99 on your main and dual class, which I am. This is an alt buffer that I really need for those days when all my friends decide to play that ******ed zombie game. I'm thinking less of myself since I have the adena and the gear to overcome MY issue after realizing it would be a problem.

And thats all for us (Darling and gift from NCsoft) only by f**king bots which NCsoft can do nothing -,- Then L2 will going down... no more newbies bcoz only +++++++ for 85+ lvls, even more for 90/95+ :P
The fishing system was fine, the bots are the problem and now along with the bots legit player will pay the price as well, as usual.
Lets say u are a 99 lvl player and u want to buy a r99 weapon, u need like 4,5billions for the weapon and 1 SA. You need to fish every day for 4 hours for 2,5 months to get the money u need for that weapon, that doesn't look like an exploit to me... to invest 300 hours of your life just to get a weapon. But ofc that is a legit player.
Lets say u do that with 7 bots 24/7 for the same amount of time. Assuming u are making 15m/hour that's about 190 billions (2.5b/day) .... that is the problem.
Taking into consideration that NC eliminated pretty much every other way to make some adena in game (drops, spoils etc are nerfed beyond belief) and the cost of most items in game (including npc sellers like gems), NC is just trying to make the game totally depended on ncstore ... thats what they call free to play.
For me making money was easier but then they nerfed the drops and adena. This entire economy (of sorts) has been ruined by the last 2 decisions made by NC. I can imagine adena sellers are running hot now. Bots are bots, but at least let us pick up decent adena when we can find a free spot. And fix the RB's!!!!!!
I hope all who use exploit get ban. Maybe you should read rules before playing a game.

None of them was unnatural (the fishing system is designed this way) or unintended (it is NCSoft who decides the price of items when selling them to NPC)
The Fishing Guild Member NPCs has been re-activated.
