D&D's Influence on Lineage 2

Since D&D is turning 40 this week, I'd love to know what impacts and inspirations the venerable tabletop game has on Lineage 2. Since everyone has different playstyles, I would love to get as many opinions as possible.

What do the powergamers think? What do the roleplayers think? What do the casual players think?

Did you play D&D before you started L2? Did L2 lead you to the pen and paper?

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
have nothing to do with.
i beg to differ.

while the two don't necessarily have anything to do with one another, NCSoft is perpetually being the Dungeon Master, handing out loot for completing quests and defeating monsters all automaticaly, by diceroll.

its a very loose base of comparison, but all MMO's share it.

however, i think maybe a good organized raid master can have essentially the same effect; to hand out loot per the completion of a raid, to bring together players with a purpose.
I'm also of a mind that the influence is down to the core, just like most games. You form a character, based on a class and concept. Each class is different, even though they may have some things in common.

You take your character and you form parties with other characters to complete goals. These goals can be quest-based, objective-based (take the castle!), or player-driven (pwn the noobs!).

D&D set the foundation upon which nearly every game has built upon.
you get to slay dragons at the end game side of things which is a classic D&D theme if anything :D
I first played D&D in (roughly) 1978, back when it only went to level 3 or something like that.

However, D&D and L2 have nothing in common. D&D has more in common with something like Fallout or Wasteland (at least in game mechanics).
