Oldschool player coming back, what has changed

General Discussion Started Last reply 7 posts
Sup guys,

Old school player that played the game back in beta all the way through C4/C5. Had a couple questions for people that have been here for a while:

1) Whats the easiest way to level? Starting a fresh toon with nothing on Chronos and want to get into action asap

2) Benefit of being in a guild vs flying solo for now?

3) Who wants to help me out on the server? :P

Thanks for the responses, will check back in a bit for answers.

You get free gear for each grade (and free shots etc.) from the Path to Awakening. Claim it on the web page every time you reach another milestone level.

If you find a mentor, you can then trade your graduation diploma for free R grade gear once you're awakened (lvl 85). Also, some clans will offer you adena if you join their academy (which you graduate at 85).

Follow the quest line; this way any class can get to 85 solo. Don't waste your time looking for random parties (for Kamaloka instances etc); just do the daily quests and some more grind in your spare time.

When you're 85+, you can start looking for a PvE clan.
But if you're into the pvp side of the game, you'll have to wait till you're 97+. :p
Thanks for the info. Quick refresher, the milestone levels are the ones where you can change armor grade correct?

Those used to be like 20, 40, 52, 61 etc right?

Any recommendations for clans to look at for academy or whatnot?

my opinion is :

dont start to play with this if you arent a nolifer or use bot

1. ncstore = $$$ for runes , if you play without you are doomed and the exp is slow
2. its the same , almost equal with zero , doing instances the drop is the same ( if you are lucky you can get WOW ELCYUM POWDERS!) , for the epic ccs its the same , most of them split the drop so you can get 5-8kk adena / each
3. check the leveling spots , you will find tons of legit nohand/nofeet people everywhere , the newcomers are rare like people without bot if you find a person then good luck!

Path of awakening is a sure fire tool for leveling a character, in conjunction with a Mentor

Many fly solo up until awakening, after you outgrow the free gear given from PoA and Mentor Diplomas.

Well, you don't really need any help from a clan until you reach 85. Mentors are a dime a dozen and don't cost you any adena... they have their own rewards for helping you. However, if you need reassurance and chatter in your ear you will find low level clans begging for new members. Top clans won't even look at you until you get to your character above 95.

Good luck and don't forget to have fun while you grind away for hours... that is something that hasn't changed.
One other question, suggestion for starting class? Was thinking of going Human Archer (Was what I played back in the old days) but was also looking at human tank or gladiator

Yul (Archer) is a good solo class, High dmg, half-kill ability with one skill, good for groups as well but after 91 You will need a boxed ISS since you can no longer recieve newbie buffs after then.

Tyrr (Which a gladi becomes) got a boost in the last update but dont really become super fun until 95+ and are Gear Whores like they used to be.

Sigel (Tanks) are fun in PvP at endgame and are required for most grouped things, however not the most fun class to solo.

As for the classes you didnt mention

Wynn (Summoner) Easiest class to solo by far, wasn't my thing, can be considered both strong or mediocre in pvp depends on the player.

Feoh (Mage) Best AOE Damage in game, strong PvP dmg, easily soloable comes into its prime at around 92.

Othel (dagger) Half-Kill Pro every skill has a chance to half kill (Excluding aoe's) very little aoe dmg, best for single target killing. Got a boost in last update and are now OP in pvp, even at lower lvls. (Will be adjusted eventually as usual)

ISS (Buffer) Got a boost in PvE dmg in last update, a well played iss at endgame can pretty much kill any class, most players wont wait that long, I personally found the class really fun, similar to a Tyrr in play style, gets heal/cp heal for off heals, and its Debuffs are INSANELY Good.

Aeore (healer) Got boosted to be able to PvE solo easier still nothing fantastic but its manageable. Obviously will make its best in group pve. PvP they are essential to any group, and can really make or break a party depending on how well the person plays it. 1v1 at endgame they can be a force to be reckoned with, except to the current op daggers who will probably 1 hit u. :)
