Are the majority of players in this game complete jerks? 24 years of gaming and I've never come across a community with such inconsiderate players. Every place I go, people attack whatever I'm attacking. Really? There are literally countless mobs around us, but you have to attack exactly what I'm attacking? I mean one or two people I get...some people just like to grief. But this is the majority of everyone I see doing this.
I read a player guide for this game before I even started playing the game, and in it it states that you shouldn't attack mobs someone else is attacking. Well duh, that's common sense and common courtesy. I see someone attacking something, I move to another area. But for some reason they follow me and attack what I'm attacking? Wow okay. Someone did that to me today and then proceeded to hit me and turn purple. Now I'm not going to always hit back, but this time I did and they died. Too bad!
Are there any groups or people out there who respect other players and go about their own business? I haven't had a chance to meet you yet! I play on the Chromos (or Chronos?) server. Sorry can't remember. Hit me up if you'd like to party :)
i had this problem when i was testing Elder scrolls online.
people would assist when not asked.
however, the system was different there.
most of the time in the early game you have to fight along side bots.
and unlike in Elder scrolls... Bots don't know what they're doing... they just do it. people know, and don't care.
i honestly prefer bots when it comes to rudeness like that.
player kill stealing usually goes away after you awaken.
i think it's worst around wall of argos and forsaken plains.
if someone does something rude, just say hello, or excuse me...
apparently if you don't say hello... and go right to the "bugger off"
it makes you the rude one. either way, they will usually say sorry and move on.
there are nice ppl, just not that many and the F2P stuff didn't really help much in that regard but just make sure you never go past 4pks on a row & sin eater is your best friend ;)

i tend to be kind of rude...
it often depends on how you act.
if you are remotely respectful, i will be quite friendly.
if you say something which comes across in a bad, frank or outright rude kind of way... then don't expect to get invited to my birthday party.
things like...
when in party, don't call me iss.
i have a name, use it!
i'm actually a big offender with this one... but try and say hello, or any sort of greeting before going into a question/answer or lecture mode.
but these are mostly party issues...
in open fields... just be sure to say hello, hey there, or hi...
or if you're passing through, and grab some aggro... just make sure to let any onlooker know before they get madface.
i'm sorry, i don't know if any of that made sense or if i'm just padding my post count... but i think i should go to sleep nnow.
Don't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch. There's ****s everywhere. You're prolly in a quest or bot area...those are prolly the most annoying things you'll encounter pre-awakening. It gets better, keep ya head up!
Also, the bunch that hits you are probably players thinking that you're a bot, therefore it's OK to KS you because you're a bot (seeing them bots frantically go to your target - who is already dead by the time they reach it - is funny).
Some of them may apologize or go away if you write on white chat. I had a summoner marking me in Silent Valley thinking I was a bot, and started a conversation on the topic. He was nice and apologized for attacking me.
To be honest, most bots I've seen lately change target once you start hitting a mob, even their mob. It's funny to see a fat dwarf damaging a mob, then you come and KS that mob, and he just turns away kind of like Cartman from South Park saying: "screw you guys, I'm going home!"
Forsaken Plains is pretty bad for bots depending on when you go there.
Bots are illegal (on L2). They are scripts/programs that plays for you without you having to sit at the computer. So there really isn't a person behind the control when things like that happen. It's quite annoying.
But other than that, there are a lot of people here with the "I'm better than you" mentality. A lot of condescending attitudes towards noobs which is too bad.
yeah, Forsaken plains is probably the biggest problem when it comes to this type of behavior. this problem occurs mainly because of the two quests which involve the monsters in the pit. one quest for your path to awakening, steel door coins... and a second which is just daily to kill mobs.
with both of those quests, and so few mobs to kill...
it means a lot of competition.
add in the bot programs and it makes it even tougher.
the biggest problem is that the mobs here actually give decent xp.
if the xp was lowered, but quest reward increased, it wouldn't be a problem.
anyway...
once you're past all this rough water, and break into the sunny beaches of awakened characters... you'll find yourself dealing with more people on a face to face basis... where you can determine weather people are nice, frank, rude or otherwise bat bonkers...
at 83 you can start joining Zaken raids, at 85 you can start doing Kartia runs daily... level 85 content is not as rich with so many 90+, but it's still fun and interesting.

Well they got me down to one health, and even though they kept hitting me...they never got me past 1hp. Can someone explain that? Thought it was odd.

Can only be feoh or wyn,who make debuff,and they dont kill,jsut drain cp/hp to 1hp .they hope u die 1 hit by mob then. But usually ppl do this only when they think u r a bot...
So let them know u r real palyer and they most likely stop doing it ,unless they really super jerks.

Have you tried to tell them to stop doing it?
I admit i am "one of them", i always consider the people around me bots, since 95% of the people grinding are bots, so i dont really care.
A simple "Hey, please stop" would stop me, and im sure alot of other people too.
And the reason you got to 1 HP and didnt die is probably cause of "Marks" from wynn/summoner, its like a poison, does dmg but it wont kill you.
Like the other person said, just say "Stop", and they will most likely stop, i do it all the time to clear the bots of some area for myself/clan members/whatever. (ofc doing it without saying "Hi, botting?" is kinda idiotic, you probably found bot owners trying to kill everyone so their bots had free reign)
Anyway! Enjoy the game, try to get past 80 and it will be much more fun, dont give up. ;)

a lot of the time people assume you're a bot, mainly when you are not in a clan... but there are also several clans which breed bots, even though everyone knows... they get away with it.
join a clan... it will keep you motivated, keep you interested, and provide some much needed protection. next time some anti-social player marks you, ask in clan and see if anyone wants to come rock stomp them.
most of these summoners are level 85, and playing with their new found ability to kill bots without going red.
Gotcha. Are clans interested in people under lvl 85? I figure we are all just doing our own thing pretty much til then. My boyfriend and I started on here from UO and we are having fun so far. I made sure to say hello today to everyone just in case.

In all honesty I would say make sure the clan you join doesn't have any bad rep. Otherwise you will get yourself into more trouble than you can get out of.
All I remember is rockstomping ksers only to have their whole clan show up 5 minutes later, and then server wide kos. Probably would have been best to just let it go. Who knows.

In all honesty, this game is so trash people are going to pick on you until they can't (they need to feel they spent their $thousands for something). That is the player mentality of this game. My advice, find a small group to level in places that nobody really wants to go, stay there until you get to 99 and can join some clan... Honestly the way I hear the game is now, I just don't know...
Oh and yes usually I say stop but whenever I've done that they attack me :)
Besides bot's and people thinking you may be a bot, there are plain old jerk's as well, so yes you need a clan, it will have it's share of jerk's as well but they will be "your" jerk's. Lower lvl instigating and pking became even easier with the path to awakening gear, once you reach your next gear reward phase you have a ton of free gear that probably still has almost its full time limit left and a ton of shot's left over, so people have that time if they wish to instigate and go red even if they wish with basically no penalty. Once your in a clan it will put and end to most of the random's doing it anyway's as they generally know your clannies will come out to stomp them, but hi level bot protector's and bored jerk's in power clan's you will just have to shrug off, it's part of the game. Of course if it's a fair fight or winnable, just fight them, this is a PvP game after all :cool:
You will find plenty of clan's recruiting even lower lvl's in the clan recruitment section on Chrono's, read them and find one that suit's you, also make sure to get a mentor, help's out a ton on buff's and gives you a XP bonus. Don't worry, 1-85 is a very short journey these day's ( which is why clan's recruit even new player's, they know you will be 85 in a few day's ) so you won't be in this phase long.
