Since I quit playing, I log in forums from time to time to check on things here. Looks like as bots and Pay to Win are still the major problems (as always). Many threads written with players complaining, but nothing really changes. I am curious as to why legit people still play L2. Do they have a hope that something magical will happen to bring things around? This basically is a PvP game with a lot of PvE element. If both aspects of the game are greatly affected by automated play and nothing changes in that direction why still bother?
I know it's not easy to find a substitute for L2 (I played for 7 years, so I understand). Most people feel that they dedicated too much time and maybe money, but you need to ask yourselves: Do I still have fun playing L2? If yes by all means stick to it, just don't expect anything changes. If not, start trying other titles. My experience so far is that there are many MMORPG titles that are more balanced, way less affetced by bots and not P2W. With the huge amount of games out there, I guess anyone can find a suitable one. The grass may be or not be greener on the other side, but you will never know unless you look over the fence.
Looks like as bots and Pay to Win are still the major problems (as always). It's not a problem really, these things are mmorpgs features, accept it or not. Even if some game does not have bots, it is still p2w, or it is empty and very few people play it, so it is boring.
I am curious as to why legit people still play L2. mmorpgs are about friends and real people relations, not about fighting bots and doing ncsoft work.

Not true. There are several games not P2W. I can only say look for them. Of course you can go on pretending there aren't any but you only lie to yourself.

I agree with that, but the thing is that L2's ultimate goal is to excel and dominate in PvP. If that can't be achieved legitely, as I said why bother?
You obviously just play the game for pvping, thats all right, others enjoy chatting, hanging out with friends etc, you dont need to make pvping the main objective.
With your logic tho.. its not worth playing a game unless you can play 12h/day, (cause some people certainly will) and the goal in any game is to become the best, since they play way more than you, you cant become the best.
So, as you said, why even bother?
Well at times it IS fun, but when I need a break I don't log in, I have other hobbies off my computer I enjoy. I do love my clan and the people in it as some of them I have been friends with for many years.
PVP was never my flavor since its all scripted and over powered gear so I have no fair chance in it. So I don't bother unless its for a very good reason.
It is a lot about my time here, 10 years to be exact. Money I spent on it I guess isn't my issue. It's all the time and work put into my accounts. For some people it means nothing, they made the account 2 months ago and it's 99 with all the toys.
I have tried lots of games to be fair. If the official servers closed I'd probably consider Innova if they stayed around post official servers close. I just don't have all the time I used to have. If I could play a whole weekend straight I would.

Of course there are many MMO games better than L2. I won't mention titles because the forum policy don't allow such "advertisements".
I used to play probably one of the most famous MMO before Aion etc came on line. I reached end game, did anything considering my toon's tier, and after i decided to come back to L2 with the announcement of GoD.
Dam, L2 looks so pre-historic compared to the game that used to play.
2 years after GoD, situtation is a mess up. I log 2 hours per day just to make 2 daillies just for SP (if AP didn't exist i wouldn't log at all), and i'm preparing my self to go back to the other MMO because it has 2 major expansions on the run since i quited.
Excuses like i still paly cause i have friends/i want to OE my gear etc are bullcrap and you know it.People remain in game just because they afraid to try something new, and because they have some free time to spend on a habbit that they are familiar with the last few years.
I'm preparing to say goodbye to this pre-historic/full of cheat game.
bro, they just adict to l2 and cause all other games are too hard to play since it requires a brain to use classes unlike the lol archers/daggers here. And also cause they cant find friends on other mmos and their current cheating friends won't leave since they cant live w/o scripts or w/o making RL money through black market.
Im not playing also. In fact i quitted after Interlude. Just waiting for ArcheAge to start.
As far as i heard L2 GoD is completely ruined. Dont care though.
Anyways, forums are very entertaining, i keep track for funny topics just as i do in multiple different MMOs forums. Its a nice way to kill time when im at job.
I can honestly say I still enjoy the game, and I'm enjoying it more so now that my clan has gotten more players along with our ally. Plus the time and effort I put into my characters for the past 9 years also plays a part to why I still enjoy the game.
I have tried playing other mmos for a bit but, nothing has really kept my attention like Lineage 2 does. Longest I've ever played another mmo was about 3 years (most of it was because I was in a relationship with someone at the time).
I keep playing too but the time i spend now compared before some years is nothing, sometimes i log just to do kartia solo or say a hi to friends and clan and some times i dont log for weeks.
As someone else posted i am waiting Archage too and maybe Wildstar also i discocoverd today EverQuest Landmark witch is like Minecraft crafting, building crazy stuff claiming land etc and it looked incredibly amazing.
The thing that keeps me mostly to l2 is my laptop that can handle l2 perfect in High settings but struggles in new games, but i am working on a new Pc for the incoming games so L2 will be just a memory and i will try to keep the best of it :)
