Of course, every single legit in this game has no adena... With this logic, you couldn't add any new content in the game, because legits can't afford it.
If they decided to add brooches, making them tradable was right way IMO, because everyone can access it through in-game currency and not only exclusively for NCoins.
Of course debot servers, denerf drops from point when only geared bot parties are effective, and make all parts of brooch system tradable, would help a lot ;-)

I am not surprised that NC would release another p2w event, but I am surprised that for their 10th anniversary the costs would be so high. 4000 NCcoin for top level brooch is ridiculously expensive. Furthermore, 160 NCcoin for a jewel box that gives a random jewel is also outrageous.

The only way of getting jewels is with ncoins, so unless someone pays real money for them u wont get them.
If ur extremly lucky, ull need 16 box to get 1 lv 5 gem (u get the same jewel of each box and the compound doesnt fail) ull need 24 dolars to get 1 lv 5 gem. But lineage 2 is a sad game when it comes to success rates so just think how much ncoins will u need to get a decent gem ....

Oh yes they do, try Hellbound for adena or Hellfire for items (if you got the patience).

Unfortunately I am sad to say that there will be enough players in this community who are willing to spend coins to buy these 'Pay2Win' items. Why do you think we have so many automated parties running around in this game? Those same players who are running in 'Guillotine Fortress' for the last 6 months. Selling the 'Gemstone R-grade' on the market and trading 1 billion worth of 'Adena' for 'Game Time Cards (2.000 NCoins). This is how the Lineage II economy is rolling right now. This is a Fact! Less then 3% of the whole US West Community is legit. The rest gets along with this economy system denying they do not have bots, nor did buy/sell/trade anything with real life stuff. Meanwhile in Ventrilo you will find out most of them are running 5 full parties. Just have a look at the Fishing Competition and COC system. All Rulers' Authority Belts/Blessed Agathions are being won by the same automated players every month. Meanwhile they are being traded for alot of adena's or dollars. As long as those same adena's/dollars spend by those players keep returning to US west by trading them for Time Cards, all will be fine. It will keep both US west and those top players happy. Who else will pay for the upkeep of the servers? This is one happy 'Circle of Life'.
This system only have one problem. The majority of the players who do not have the resources, money or time to do this will never make it in a game like this. They simply quit and complain like me.
Meanwhile the amount of actual life players creating an account is neglected by the amount of bots being created every single day for one purpose only. To farm/sell/trade for Time Cards to upgrade their main toons. None can tell you the exact numbers. Meanwhile US west is keeping one eye closed, for the moment. Money never sleeps. So do automated players. Do you see the resemblance? LOL
Over the passed several weeks I have been seeing a disturbing huge increase of players transfering to Cronos and Naia. Those total numbers are increasing every single week. This is a disturbing red line for me to see. They are trying to find the right place with alot of active people. All are trying to find one last haven before they really decide to quit the game. It is not looking good for the other three servers. I can tell you that for a fact. I was hoping they will take this into account. Some reasonable actions are required. Maybe change the lower capacity servers into Rookie servers. A place for new players to start and catch up easy. Maybe non stop double XP/SP weekends. Once people are done they can transfer to the Top2 servers where they can start to PvP non-stop. It is just a thought.

Only this type of brooch will be unabelable on store. After the event ends ull probably get standar broochs on store with the only difference may be the stat u get from them (less/no p.def and m.def)

All this is not a big surprise. Since Korea took over the management of NCWest they stop caring about their costumers because they simply want to get the maximum fund possible and close the servers when there's no more funds to drain.
It's sad cause, even with 10 years, the game still had a lot of potential. More sad that NC is forcing people out of their own servers into private servers.
Unfortunately there is nothing to do, Vali and Juji have 0 power on everything going on and any request made by us, or them is just ignored by Korea.

It's actually not that bad. I probably made a lvl 4, with 3 or 4 attempts. Level 5 on the other hand... You need way to much gems to get it.
The thing that sucks though, that there's no way that all 9 gems are random from the main box. I can guarantee that aquamarine and emerald has the highest chance, which sucks, considering that it costs a lot anyway. Topaz is probably the rarest one I got.
On the plus side, I did manage to make 2b+ profit from buying/selling at the beginning of the event :p
They do, the difference is on Korean servers those l2 store items cost 70% less. On innova 50% less
I'm not speaking merely of the cost of the items, I'm talking about game balance.
Those Level 5 items are too powerful and the cost is too high which exacerbates the disparity they will create.
If you aren't rich or already very high level you have no business even considering this game at this point, at least not on NCWest servers.
$50 is a pretty hefty price tag for the top brooch then on top of that you have to buy the gem boxes at which you get RANDOM gems and in order to lvl them you need two gems which God only knows the success rate on that gamble.
Thus far still very disgusted with this 10 year anniversary. This should have been epic and it's lame as hell.

the brooch is a nice idea to let legits think they can compete against the 10 year old bots L2 has fostered.
Maybe the staff can focus on banning the players ruining the game instead of milking the ones trying to support it.
I cant even report toons to you guys without "those" guys finding out about my reports within a day...just sad really.
If you aren't competitive now, the brooch would never do it because they can get the same brooches and gems and since their gear is superior in many cases it simply means the benefits scale better on them.
A 20% Soulshot damage increase bonus is better on a toon with a +7 weapon and blessed epics than on a toon with a +4 weapon and generic epics, and PvP damage reduction scales better on characters with more defenses due to superior armor and jewelry.
However, the bonuses still would have helped those people survive a bit better and fare better against opponents with less gear disparity between them. However, the price puts it out of range for most of those legits that care about that.
The good news is that I spent enough money on the brooch, boxes, etc., that I was able to get a Heavenly scroll from the rewards. (Yay, +10 Apoc bow...finally).
The bad news is that I am now completely convinced that the hand in my back pocket isn't my girlfriend reaching for my wallet. It's NCSoft.
I sympathize with the many who don't have the kind of discretionary income that you need in order to participate in "events" like this. Takes money to make money. Takes money to be truly competitive as well. That is the state of affairs in L2. Some will say that it's always been that way. As someone that has been here since day 1, I beg to differ.

It's not about whether you have the income to buy it. I'm not close to the point where a couple hundred would cause me to feel regret.
But I'm not going to spend that in a video game. There are a ton of other things that are more worth the money than pixels.
A game isn't worth playing when progression is removed from the game and put in a cash shop. I can use that cash to pay a subscription in another MMORPG that doesn't require me to buy what in game mechanics and/or content (the brooches and gems being pixels doesn't qualify, they're basically eBayed items) should be allowing me to do provided I put for the requisite time and effort in game to do so.
Buying items with a CC or PayPal account from the L2Store does not qualify.
I'm rdy to spend money for that kind of event but not at this expansive price.

I came home from work tonight to see what NCsoft had in store for us loyal players who have been enjoying the game since open beta and what am I greeted with? Another money grab! FFS guys, people didn't even have enough time to pay off their credit cards from the Shiny Shirt milking event just from last month. I am so shocked at this I can't even be outraged.
I can't be competitive in PVP without playing thousands of dollars each month, which I refuse to do and if I can't be competitive then no point in playing. If your goal was to encourage me to quit playing, you may have succeeded. Congrats??

Why so much hate? Someone of you was really expecting something else than another l2 store pay to win event? This game is not about players, it's about store items. You can see it easy - when there is bug with store, they are able fix it even on midnight. That's why then don't care about bots, because bots easy pay NCoins.
I'm not even dissapointed. Every event, every week, there is something new in shop what you need to buy, if you want stay and play end game pvp.

I am from poor country and i dont use ncoins... but i am not jealous - someone must pay for servers and ncwest salaries... ppl use tons $ in store keep "my game" still alive... it is not great as before but as old man i tried many games and there is no fun in games those days... all are short & easy :/.

im not defending this too expensiv "event". A level 5 gem is out of the reach unless you realy want to spend > 300$ for one.
But the 1Coin Brooch is ok, and a level 2 gem can be bought for a few 100m and still give a decent bonus. There is probably no other way to improve your gear that cheap.
I know that every event and update is followed by several pages of flame, but this time you should really pay attention, dear NCwest staff.
It's 10th anniversary, why can't we have a normal fun event without having to buy anything? I really don't mind if the brooches and jewels are available on the L2 store, given that these items are obtainable in other ways, like a rare monster/raid drop. Or, since it's 10th anniversary, maybe have a special offer "one jewel box per account once a day for 1 NCoin"?
Now the situation is outrageous. One jewel box gives one random jewel AND it costs 120 (?) NCoin. For that price it should be five random jewels, not one.
It's like the point of this event is merely to allow a legal RMT, not to celebrate anything, and GOD FORBID not to make something that players would actually enjoy.
Also, people are still waiting for information about the jewel combination success rates, and the chance of obtaining certain jewel types from the jewel box (do all 9 types have the same chance of being obtained?).
I bought 3 Brilliant Brooch (I sold 2 of them to other players in-game for 4 billion adena). I forget how many of the 20 set boxes I bought - 3 or 4?
I managed to get 4th level on all but one of the stones, so in that respect the enchant rates aren't terrible. That said, I never made it higher than 4th level, so there's that to consider. Either enchanting higher than 3 gets harder, or my luck just gets much worse.
FWIW, even if you can't really participate, try to get at least the 1 coin brooch. Even a level 1 gem is better than nothing.
Also, if you're someone that likes to play the market, this "event" is a cash cow, especially, if you jump in while the prices for the brooch and gems are still in flux and demand is high.

At a minimum it would take 10 lv. 1 stones to make a lv.4 stone and that is with ZERO fails. 10*9 =/= 4*20
I don't care if you spent $1000, in fact I would rather you just tell us the truth so we have an accurate idea of how much it takes to get to lv. 4 but please don't make other believe they can get a full lv. 4 gem set for $200.
I noticed some of my friends started complaining alot that the Jewels cost you alot of Inventory/Warhouse space. It seems you will get stuck having alot of untradeable non matching pairs of Lv.1-4 Jewels. NCsoft should consider making them tradable at the next maintenance, because this is plain stupid. There are simply too many types available. It makes more sense when they can exchange Jewels with another player who need them to make a matching pair for Compound.
Another issue which has been bothering some players. Why spend 4.000 Coins for a Brooch knowing that there might be one in the future with 6-slots!? It looks like a waste of money at this time if this is true. It said you can not trade the Brooches afterall. So when this happens you will be stuck with 2 of them? Too many uncertainties, risks about this system.

the lower level jewels not being tradeable is quite a nonsense I agree with that as at the end of the promotion you'll be forced to delete a lot of them just to reclaim your inventory space yeah..

I think you misunderstood me. I did not mean for anyone to infer that buying only 4 of the 20 gemboxes from the L2store didn't also mean that I didn't buy/trade gems from/with other players. I simply wanted to point out that the enchant rates are not terrible, especially since you get to keep one of the gems after a combine failure.

Several points I do agree with, 4000 n/coin for a brooch is WAY too much. Espically if NC Soft wants to "Celebrate" and thank those that have played for years. I agree you should be able to obtain the gems through some other means. Hunt mombs get fragment drops make gems? Now NC Soft mentality would be only one fragment per 1000 mobs or so, and then there would be very common drops (pearl) and very rare drops (emerald). Maybe get common fragments and exchange for the gem you want? I also find it interesting the toon that could most benefit from a certain gem gets the fewest of that gem in the 20 gem box.
Drops from mobs should be greater and should be useable mats and goods. The adena drop usually does not cover the cost of the shot it takes to kill the mob. SO you could make adena drop less common but very signicant. Also have mobs drop everthing. Let a lvl 20 get a cool r95 armor peice that could be sold to finance that toon for a while. As the lvl mob gets higher so does the frequency of drops of higher lvl goods.
I thought there would be more excitement on NCWest's side considering the milestone achieved.
