It was transformed in a gambling machine.
Its free to log in game. If you want to acheive anything else, like just getting an armor of your grade your screwd.
Adena drop amount were nerfed like 10x. And drop rate is almost 0 even with raids.
Crafting system was 'revamped' for bad. New material system where recs for them are only available after weeks of hunting is the most hardcore area.
every pay2win guy is automated on pvp, from finding you where they cant see to mass targeting you if you hit healers to canceling your survival skills.
run from l2, and never come back, cause its only getting worse every day.

you will be half shot even before you notice what happened.
specially from daggers and nuker.
daggers have new skills for even more dmg, and critical damge of dagger wepons ahve been increased also.
nukers you cant do anything unless you have the top jewels oed. but you know with the terrible drop rate you wont see one in your inventory so soon.
You are pony master, so if u were upset that pony became obsolete, its still same crap. All are nuker and dagger and when u see all damage bypassing transfer pain, ull destroy ur pc before u can even say i quit. :P

But you might search for pre-Goddess of Destruction private servers. I am sure those are still fun provided there are enough people in-game.

Well , yea , nowdays the game is "pay to win" for sure , if you want to compete against "top clans" , you will just die like a fly if you don't pay as well
And honestly , after the new "10th anniversary p2w promotion" i've quitted it myself...stuffs that you can ONLY buy with NCoins or with adenas , but making adenas in legit way will make you waste months and moths just for reach a lvl 2/3 jewel , or at least , even by doing all the instances , if with randoms , gl , if with CP you may take something , but will still take a lot for a lv 3 jewel (the "mid" kind items)

(and u'll have trouble finding spots.)

I spent like $50 (sure not a lot compared to others, but it is a lot to me) and could not get a +5 shirt. I just kept failing. I have not logged in since that day and have been thinking about trying to get back into it. Lineage 2 was always may all time favorite game to play. I played mostly in beta - Chronicle 2, and I wish I never quit back then. I have been logging in here or there for the past few years.
Shii, I normally would try to find some bright spots to tell you to have hope that something good will come, but I'm afraid these guys are right. Without some 9th inning game changer from NCSOFT, this game will run it's course.
It's not even PTW anymore, it's Pay to be relevant. If it's part of NC Korea's plan to stick to the Lore of the game, maybe well move out of the GOD dark times. Perhaps they will implement changes for the new chronicles to come, that will reflect the theme. Either way, the game needs active GM's to clean this server up from it's destructive elements and unsavory characters. SMH just don't know my friend.

Ya, they are around but unfortunately at times they are DEAD...I have tried ALOT of them and cant seem to find one to call home....I want something that is fairly active and that isn't SOLELY pvp based or all BR's. It's so sad that NCsoft ruined what was a GREAT game....pre GoD was the best and I'm certain that myself and all my buddies would still be playing had NCsoft not flushed this game just for money.

1* Management does nothing. They just make P2W events and goodbye till next maintenance.
2* I dont know what the devs have in their minds. Some ideas are so so bad. And in every update a bunch of ridiculous things appears. Its like they think theres a need to add more and more stuff when i dont know, maybe only 10% of the paying playerbase have access to all the stuff, because the ones who dont spend a single dollar dont get anything obviously.
3* "My friend bots okay then me too" Same with enemies. "This guild uses X software, lets use we too!" Cheating is allowed nowadays. I have seen screenshots of people shouting at aden of making party rooms LF to form a bot party in a determined place. Obviously this people doesnt get ban because they are cool i dont know. 80% of the players uses or have used or are involved in a guild who uses external software.
NCSoft is a big company therefore they just worry about money. Are they getting money from L2 ? Yes they are because if not the game would be already closed.
Finally i would say play this game if:
1) You have money to spend. The more the better.
2) You dont have problem using cheats or being in a guild with people who uses them.

Yes, i quited when 30 or so classes became same old world of warcraft 9 classes. And to top it off, all my efforts with my pony's went to **** when i saw that u couldnt use them anymore. So i decided to end my l2 career there and apparently is still over.
L2 summons are the only pet class i have truly enjoyed but the fact that they were getting 2 shoted by archers and daggers killed it for me, whats the point of having summons as a main weapon when they receive the same dmg as a random npc mosnter did.
Anyways for a moment i thout, maby u could have fun again, but if this is the state of the game, im not comming back, nice to hear from ya tho. Im considering a private server, so far l2toxic seems active inough.
Servitors can reach like 80k hp but it means jack **** when u get 30k easily and u cant overheal it cause ppl hit u 10 skills in 3 seconds.
And pets are easily debuffed by everything with 10% chance land rate and those 80k hp easily get 40k hp cut by a single lethal from archer/dagger. If pet is at 1/3 HP, prepare to die right after cause if dmg is bigger than remaining pet hp u die, and since these classes hit so hard.. :)
Serious pvp groups dont have summoner unless theyre VERY-well geared.

i finally take my hero against scripters and rmt chars on bartz, and leave this... there still exist people who love this game and i prefer start from 0 on Core than continue playing here the "war against the machines" with a +rmt
if you want to be competitive, unless you are going to spend $1000 on every event, it is not worth it...
you can be legit and be OK, but you will never beat the mass botter/scripters/nccoiners..
this brooch system especially has made the pay to winners have an insane advantage
I play PVE and still have a great time in the game. Graphics are incredible and the music is sweet.
I enjoy the leveling and improving my characters, as well as talking with friends in game.
High levels can be tough on the patience, to level, but is still cool. I've played since May 2004 and have seen the ups and downs, but overall I just play for enjoyment.
If you are into PVP a lot, this may be super difficult to be among the best pvpers, as other people have stated, so many items have been created to buy with real money and they give huge advantages to those that wish to spend money on them.
But, if you enjoy the PVE world, you will enjoy Lineage 2. You get all the items you need to battle the monsters, raid bosses and real life players. You can really enjoy most aspects of the game.
It isn't worth coming back. Every new patch has made killing mobs less rewarding and less fun. The constant nerfs to adena drop amounts and material drops and item drops and equipment drops makes me think that NC lost sight of how to make a MMO. Especially because NC has not implemented an acceptible alternate system for acquiring these things, especially given the fact that the game requires you to spend so much time killing mobs that some of us don't have any time left to do anything else.
Unless you have friends in this game that you can't play with in any other game, then you will have more fun playing any other MMO.

Actually, you're the one who makes no sense. The person you are replying too would know better than you on this for starters. Secondly all the updates so far go against the continuity of old chronicles:
Pre-god:
-1st update introduce new hard to obtain armor grade.
-2nd update introduce new armor grade and make old one easier to obtain.
-3rd update makes 1st update armor, purchasable from shop, and 2nd update armor easier to obtain.
Post-god:
-1st update introduce all easy gear to obtain.
-2nd update makes all new gear introduced on 1st update harder to obtain.
-3rd update nerfs adena earnings, nerf possibility of obtaining the gear which was alrdy nerfed on update 2 and introduce new tier armor extremely hard to obtain.
ncsoft basicly stopped to care, lets blame their shareholders, anyway if you wanna play l2 do it on core innova, the start here would just be a big waste ^^
Con's, this is horrible. 10th Anv event and the rewards are about as sad as can be. Whoever helped put this stuff together just took old events and combined them. Its obvious that NCsoft spent no time on the event other than to make sure 99.99999% of the folks got crap for rewards.
Example: reward for being logged in for a week. A-gem. Really?

Find another game, its obvious the GM's and such don't give a crap for live players. The only chance you have is to do what the farmers do cuz the drop rates don't allow for legit players to get anything. Sadly I am one who never plans on getting anything in the last few years from playing for 10 years. Legit in L2 means you get nothing.
Innova has their own version of p2w store stuff and scripts/bots do exist as well just not that obviously in your face as on NCWest but that's about it..
to keep it simple: if you got no friends playing here then sure go Innova/if you're a new player definitely check out Innova and decide for yourself
also remember Innova is RU/Euro so pending on location the lag/ping might be a factor to consider too.
I still enjoy the game as much always, but then again I'm very casual.
I mostly like the new stuff they introduced, also there's finally an alternative to gain good XP without doing dailies to and fro.
About the P2W cries: I dont think it is so bad. Right now all the L2Store stuff is available for adena too, so if you enjoy spending your time on the market you can have all benefits from Store/PTW for "free". Will cost some time and effort ofc.
If playing is only fun for you if you can get hero, I'm not sure if a comeback is worth it though. Would surely mean you'll have to invest a LOT of money/and/or time to be endgame competitive.
If you just look for fun with PVP//PVE/Sieges etc., you can have that as always.
With all the cons (biggest con: cheaters/bots/scripts...) already mentioned L2 is still the best game. Just read the Naia Section from the last weeks for some of the most entertaining drama in a very long time.

Too much lag from so many bots/afk's/adena sales spam etc.
Unless you have a billion sitting on an old toon, you'll never get anywhere with the cost of anything in game which is so over priced.
Mosue lag is absolute crap - Just wiggle the mouse around when performing an action like running, pvp etc. Hell you can be perfectly still & move the mouse around the screen will freeze.
The game has become a prison without a warden & the criminals dictate everything. It was a fun game once upon a time but sadly it has become so bad.
10 years of off/on playing & many characters & I don't even want to think about the amount of money for game time cards/ncoins.
There is some really good games out there where the gm's are active in removing the problem gamers within a day or two. (unlike here where adena sellers sit in towns spamming day after day for months at a time)
