We love you Bubbles :p Yeah my bf paid for the Norton and did the settings - I dont get warnings it just does what it does - I did adjust that and I am reinstalling L2 because it seems Norton RIPPPPED the l2bin out.
Thank you for your time and information.
It try to change some of the settings on a program where I keep all my passwords, is a pay program.
and made my Pc little slow, the virus is gone from my Pc now but no so sure , I`ll wait few days see if anything else change cos reformatting the
HD and putting it back will take me about 4 days..
is custom made and I have to add every drives plus all the programs I need, I work from this Pc..
for the past 5 years with not virus until today :(
BB.
you are right on few points about Norton but there is a virus like this out there, Google it "Suspicious Cloud 7" and few variations.
Norton, few times see things that are not there but I rater be safe than sorry.
there is not antivirus that can be 100%.
and most of them will not catch the new ones if they are not on the data base.
but this virus try to change settings on some of my pragmas where I keep passwords and made my Pc very slow.
Simple solution for NORTON: Open "quarantine" list, the L2 file should be there. Add it as "exception" and it should work again.
For me it worked like this, I can load the game as usual.
But next problem is: Upon log-in screen I get the "logging in" message endlessly and I'm stuck there.
Anyone a solution? I did file-check and everything, no success.
To Leandris.
for one of BB`s first post, ( she post the link ) I went and got "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free" , that one will removed the extra corrupted files that Norton miss.
but if you keep trying to fix it with Norton , you may get the same problem over and over, I did.
I have to switch to another Virus scanner.
Thanks BB :)
you went the extra mile to help me and for that I give you a big thanks.
now if can get you to help me level on the game..lol
BigBubbles- I did what you advised, however I ran ALL of the AV programs in the link you provided. As I stated before, I am a Norton user. EVERY SINGLE one of those AV programs detected and removed multiple threats. The total count of removed malware/spyware numbered in the mid hundreds. Norton did not see these things. I kept 2 of the AV programs, in addition to Norton.
I still have 6 months paid of Norton AV, which I will use up. But I will not renew Norton, instead I will use the AV program that you recommended. Thank you for your help, it worked great and I am back in game with a great running PC.
Again, for those who think this guy doesn't know his stuff...
NORTON DID NOT detect the viruses (3) and 500+/- Malware/Spyware.
Thank you BigBubbles.
thanks bubble! <3
did some modifying! :p
It's all fixed now! YAY! more town AFK time! :p
There you go Znipoo, and I didn't even include the two that ran the removal tool, kept Norton and didn't have to do a exception.
I said that in some cases, even most its probably a false positive, I even added Ronyr's post from where I said that to him, but he actually had malware. If you learn to read he says he has to get a new AV, he had not yet at that point after the problem was corrected.................
My advice in a nutshell was to run the removal tool to be safe, and get a different AV although I didn;t say you have to get a different AV, I just said I think that it was a good idea. If after you ran the removal tool if you kept Norton and it was still flagging it, then by all means add the exception.
Gee, look at the ones I helped, while you being a wannabe SA helped no one. It costs a few minutes of your time to be safe, which is the same advice NC is giving, you just want to be right at all costs even if it harms others.
As to your comments on W firewall, that your trying to be coy by shading out, that just shows how clueless you are, probably have no idea what a firewall even does. That firewall is actually bench tested quite high, will it stop a really good hacker ? Maybe, maybe not, but then a lot would be the same. Its for external threats, AV is for internal, as for stuff you brought into the CP's environment yourself by DLing a file, reading a mail, clicking on something you shouldn't have, yadda, yadda, even the programs that open you to external sources you still brought in yourself, it was not a external attack, please keep showing people how utterly clueless you are.
Edit Here's a link on Windows firewall, gee, it says the same as what I just said above, go figure
www.makeuseof.com/tag/windows-7-firewall-compares-firewalls/, no its not as user friendly for internal stuff that links to the outside, but once again those are programs you brought into your CP's environment on your own, Znipoo, clueless as always, but thinks he knows all.
This is even bypassing the fact modems and routers have their own firewalls as well, which even on a public wireless network your also going through theirs, what super hackers have you gotten so upset that they are personally targeting you Znipoo ? With your arrogance combined with lack of knowledge you pretend to possess I wouldn't doubt there may be a few. ;)
You can call me on saying CP, I'll give you that one, but everyone knows exactly what I mean, to me its shorthand for computer, and it looks a lot like "PC" which is short hand for personal computer, its mine, its unique and I'll keep right on using it, and people will keep on understanding what I am saying~~
