About classic server

Guys do we have any news about what's going on? The ncsoft will finaly open a classic server?
WONT BE CLASSIC SERVER... stop dream
WONT BE CLASSIC SERVER... stop dream

And you know that how?

Last I've heard, innova had some interest in opening one for the rest of the world, but postponed everything to the end of August (no clue why)

As for ncwest, I sincerely doubt they make their own decisions. What KR says, goes. Kr servers are still up and running, although the rochand forums have been pretty silent this past week on this topic.
We'll basically have to wait for Eretheia to come and pass, before anyone will start looking into either a classic sever is good it not for their bottom line.

Further decisions have been postponed until the end of August because around August 13 NCsoft will publish their earnings report for the 2nd fiscal quarter 2014 here:
http://global.ncsoft.com/global/ir/quarterly.aspx
Then everybody will have solid facts to base their decision on. The number of online players doesn't help you much, because there are still several thousand bot accounts per server that have been created with stolen/forged credit card information, i.e. NCsoft will never see any money from those "players". This is also the reason why they are merrily banning them as soon as they pop up:
http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=267985#4
No money to get from them, just a bad reputation.

The reason for the silence on the Rochand boards is that it gets boring to post links to the 563789th screenshot of bots (http://lineage2.plaync.com/classic/board/image/view?articleId=1433). The Classic Servers in Korea are a pretty much total failure. The only new thing that I could report is that by now a major number of players has reached lvl 30+ :)
I don't have an account on Kr, but about it being a total failure, it's a relative thing.

GoD is a total failure as well. Bots everywhere, RMT, P2W, spoil/craft ruined, boring instances, etc. From a normal player's point if view, I'd definitely call that a total failure, and not something that I'd spend my money on. That doesn't mean that there isn't money to be made from it.

About classic servers, like in your quote, we'll see at the end of August if there's any money to be made from it, and if there is, I have no doubt that we'll have a classic server to play on.

As for choosing between a classic total failure, and a GoD total failure, I'd still choose the classic one. It just fits better my playing style and expectations.
well...God was a big failure as we all know except the fail game play that had has a lot more problems too. Like... the play 2 win style that provide to us made the game unplayable due to the a lot bots.But if they will open a classic server i dont think samething fail on that. As i know the game style is pay to play...so the company will earn a stable amount of money. without so many bots and sites influences.
It isn't really pay to play, NC has failed at introducing a stable subscription model and they were forced to release stuff like time cards and allow people to pay for time points while playing from Internet cafes.
And that is precisely the problem. Those time cards don't have a "use by" date; they keep their validity as long as the company stays in business. So a player who is for example purchasing 5 hours for 5ooo Won (http://nshop.plaync.com/lineage2/goods/list?categoryPath=1_13) (about 5 US dollars) may play for half an hour now, then go back to facebooking or twittering and only use up the remaining time two weeks later, when he will maybe purchase more game time. With the time point cards NCsoft does not earn a stable amount of money.

And when you look at the average level of the characters, people don't seem to play (i.e. spend time points) that much. On the Classic Servers there is no Vitality, and since player characters have a higher drop rate than monsters, people kill each other for equipment, constantly deleveling in the process. Nevertheless, an average level of 35 after two months (Lineage 2 Classic went live on May 28) seems rather low. The developers had originally planned to hold the first Sieges in July:
http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=1265&start=240#p26564
But there is now way those lvl 35 characters will level up in the foreseeable future to a degree where they can make a dent in the castle-holding NPCs, who are lvl 75 (special thanks to Draecke for the information!).

So, if you measure success and failure against the announced goals, the Classic Servers are a total failure :p

Your point is ? The F2P model blows that out of the water, the top F2P compares to WoW, while nothing on the P2P list going down compares.

Just shows NC is clueless when it comes to running a good F2P model, as WoW shows NC is clueless when it comes to needing to advertise for a P2P model as well.
gl to play on that classic server.. will be full of bots since day 1.

Yeah that's the sadly point. At lest they must think serious before take some decisions. WOW population will be for ever elusive dream for the ncsoft fact's as and the revenue of blizzard.

And dude that's a personal decision. If you ask me i will answer you for infinite times that i prefer to play in a classic server (where will be full of bot like you said ) than to play in the god servers ( with the awesome amount of bot like all we know ) . Even if the god servers wouldn't have any bot...i would prefer to play in classic server full of bots. :P And you know why? because classic server present as the real l2. the l2 which have no taste of star wars inside :D
I still don't get what's different, bots here, bots there... Your gameplay will be ruined nonetheless.

When God came out, it was actually pretty fun (At least on Shilen anyway). The most fun I had in Lineage 2 since C3. It was also back when the most pay 2 win item in the l2 store was appetite for destruction from the gatekeeper hat or zaken swords. Even the top botters at the time, (Fatnecktigers) we absolutely destroyed because despite being higher level they neither had the scripts nor skill to take on players in A grade despite being level 79-81. The first issue is when they awakened. Not really because of the power increase of awakening because when it came down to it, they could still be vastly outnumbered. It was the level penalty that kicked in thus fail game mechanic #1. So the server shifted from PvE + PvP to just PvE until the top "PvP" clans all awakened where PvP could settle into the server again to fight the botters. Then that's when the destruction scrolls settled in the Destiny pack and things started going downhill from there. The botters got better gear paying thousands upon thousands of dollars for destiny packs using and selling destruction scrolls for ludacris prices and from there the server population dropped to 2/3 from the constant maximum it was at. Then from there the server population continued on a steady downward spiral as
1. botters refined their scripts
2. NCsoft added worse and worse pay to win items to the store
3. the level penalty created a larger and larger divide between players causing skill to become an afterthought.

Overall both the company and the players ruined the game not just one or the other. Everyone is to blame for this failure and it is all due to the best deadly sin, greed. Mammon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mammon) would be proud of you all.
You do realize the level penalty came into effect well before GoD even hit right ?
well. now when everyone want to get their gear and lvl max as fast as they can will be hard.. exping even on low levels is pain in the one place... 0.01-0.02% from mob on ~30lvl. gg :) and don't forget no mentor buffs ) only oldschool buffs lvl1 from npc :)

Not sure about that considering a level 66 could kill a level 80 but a level 80 couldn't scratch a level 85. But that's not the point. The point is, it is a bad mechanic. Levels provide enough of a bonus with the player having higher offensive and defense stats and abilities while still giving the lower level player a chance to win just by simply being better skilled. The level penalty caused a lot of issues with pvp. The exact time it was implemented doesn't matter.

I agree, I said it was a bad thing to put in the game all the way back when they did it, which was like Gracia, if it was a update sooner or later I'm sure Tif or someone will correct me there, but thats around when I remember it coming into play.

As for a 66 taking out a level 80, one I'd like to see that, LOL, two when they first put it into play it effected levels 78 and up, it was still incredibly stupid, you basically made every hard earned and leveled up subclass useless in meaningful PvP, when just q few updates prior all classes even your main were 80, then main jumped to 85 but your sub's were still viable in PvP and good for raids, after they put in the level penalty they were just good for your subclass skills basically~~
As long as Lineage 1 doesn't suffer the same issues as L2, it will continue thriving.

In L1:

- drop rates are befitting to mob level, the higher level, better drops(still like old school L2, decent and human like drop rates);
- no focus on instances with few exceptions;
- no level penality:
* Monsters continue dropping their stuff even if you are higher level than them, in L2 blue monsters give nothing;
* You can gain xp from a high level monster, the opposite also happens, along with drops, you continue gaining the xp from a low level mob;
* Better balance, which makes the world pvp in L1 much more enjoyable than L2;
* No pvp level penality.

There is a video of my group (level 58,66,67,66,66,65,72) vs a bot group (79-81) at hot springs and we won and the only death was the level 58 healer. This one guy recorded it but I don't know if he uploaded it. It was pretty epic actually the fight took a long time because of all the running but that group was very bad and was actually a longtime group that came from WoW. The same guy also took a video of me 83, an ol 79 and a bd 78 taking on a level 78 FOG group and I killed everyone except the tank with two magnus splashes and killed the tank on the third. That was of course when summoners were just brokenly OP.

The sad part was that same group were the first to awakened and took aden and were the top clan on the server until the clan leader said L2 was too easy and his group left for Tera leaving the clan to instantaneously crumble into pieces.

Maybe it happened between Hellbound when 85 was introduced and Gracia when the penalty was put in ? Even so if they had proper level gear, versus you guys wearing great proper level gear they must have been pretty bad, and you guys good as well of course.

If they had proper level gear and the level difference penalty on their side, I dunno, they should have just walked away and quit the game after, I can't imagine anyone failing that hard, sides the fact in correct gear and with the level penalty it would have been like whacking away at raid bosses for you guys and their hits should have been OPed.

What they hell did they do ? Turn shots off and whack each other a lot or something ? LOL. Anyways, sounds epic, would have saved that vid to HD and posted it whenever they mouthed off if they became so OPed later down the road. :p

Oh no when i said they were bad, they were absolutely terrible. Just straight pathetically awful. But even then, our damage to them was pretty high. It was after they awakened that it became impossible to hurt them where a aeore healer just walks in and decimates a CC alone. Even the tree was incredibly tough.

Lineage 2 is shared with another companies around the world and not at all use the f2p model.

Also NC USA staff make a good job when we have only 2 servers. Current game state is b2p (bot to play), I think if we made a table with the most expensive "no bot control", we got this results:

Most bot free Lineage servers:
1. NC East
2. NC China
3. NC Korea
4. NC Malasia
5. Inova Russia
6. NC Thayland
7. Inova Euro

It seems that pay 2 play model is the most profitable, if the company knows how to manage it's own product.

Your post is meaningless, the KR servers are the ones that make it into the P2P list above the one I posted, or are you blind or can't read and
comprehend that ?

There is no Adventurer Helper NPC on the Classic Servers. No Newbie Buffs, no Herbs, only the buffs you get from other players.

This means you need a certain base population to get the server kick-started. If it takes more than half an hour to find a buffer for a party, people will just give up. As Tiferet and I have pointed out on the previous page, people in Korea mostly play with game time cards where the time points only tick down when you are in non-peace zones, i.e. sitting in town while Looking for a Party comes free. With a monthly subscription model as we will presumably get it at NCWest, players will soon get annoyed that they pay 15 dollars or whatever for actually hunting monsters/PvPing maybe 10 hours per month.

And keep in mind, Korea is a one-time-zone territory; peak times are the same for everybody. On our servers time zones stretch from Sydney via New York and Berlin all the way to Vladivostok. Online population at any point in time is naturally thinner on the ground as in Korea. While Innova Europe could at least try a Classic Server (after all, the files automatically come with the Ertheia client), at NCWest the whole idea is doomed from the beginning.

If you want to say ranger free servers that list is correct, though some of the names are wrong, for bot free you're way wrong.

China produced the first bot programs for one thing, another even NCKR has a bot issue as Tif and Elmar pointed out to me, so the only two one that list that are somewhat bot free are NCEurope and NCRU, and even they have bots, though they attempt to police them when reported.
I thought that RU servers were deemed the home world of (pvp) bots...

Russia is where it was developed, but L2RU has Frost as well as far as I know, doesn't mean they don't have corrupt Russian GM's though. :p
they updated frost today, i just get the new update now.
