Coming back to L2 after years off. I'm trying to figure out how the awakening classes work. More specifically, I used to PVP on necro, so can I still PVP at lvl 85+ on a necromancer or do I have to become the Feoh Wizard? If I'm permitted to remain a necro, does that mean I'd be gimp in PVP compared to the Feoh? And, the crowd control/silence skills are what really draws me to necro, so can I still silence and crowd control in PVP as a necromancer these days (or even as a Feoh if that's what I'm required to do)?
If you don't awaken you will be slaughtered by pretty much every awakened toon out there, and by every awakened class as soon as they ding 86, you could be 99 and that 86 will whomp on you. The good news is the re diversified the classes, so when you awaken you can be a Feoh Soultaker Wizard ( necro ), not just a Feoh Wizard like when GoD was introduced. :D

So similar question, different specificity:
Have Root, Sleep, Silence been removed from PVP? It says invalid target. Last time I played L2, I could silence a spellsinger, preventing them from murdering me.
It seems like they wouldn't/couldn't balance the game, so they just removed certain mechanics and meshed all the classes into these generic play-styles.
First, even back then the other player had to be flagged before you could use those skills. Second, by the time an awakened toon is flagged on you, you are eating dirt.
Once you are awakened, all the classes are different, just like before. The classes that are most alike would be the Iss's, but each has their own special skills that make them unique as well.
So, for my silence skill on necro, I'm not allowed to use that in pvp at all? When I try, I get an "invalid target" error - even on reds and purples. Same for anchor and sleep.

Ok, now here I really can't answer you, the only new toon I've made since I came back is the new Ertheia. I would advise you to look up the awakened necro skill list, that would be Feoh Soultaker. I also don't own a necro, never liked them and was one of the ones chortling with laughter when NC took away their "win" button, para.
As a mage I can say you are going to be a DPS machine primarily, and a lot of "crowd" control in mass PvP with snare. You will also still be running around with your summon. More than that, you're going to have to dig and look around at their skills. But a necro is different than the other mages which was your real question, you will still be "unique" and as a mage one of the most effective PvP classes. Daggers shine in small scale PvP, mages in large scale PvP.
