SO I logged in after maint and tried to log in my 4th client and got a message saying only 3 accounts max per PC . I usually log my main and box, then their mentees. guess Ill have to start another pc then log them in there. . . .
yeah, there was a bug of sorts which allowed some folks to have 4 accounts running. i had no idea what caused it, but i didn't care as my 4th account wasn't used very often anyway.
so they corrected the error.
sadly everyone is back to 3 accounts.
outrage is not warranted because they technically limited it to 3 accounts a while ago.
Yeah I never knew there were any troubles logging 4, never had a problem with it til today. Could never trust mentees to be on so I made a 3rd and 4th.
Noraxe is correct. I was one of those prolific boxers that did 6 clients on one supercomputer without botting or using programs -- up until today. Actually my mentees could only log 3, so I run multiple VMware instances per 3 mentee on very powerful Workstations with high RAM. but my 7 mains, 6 mains are running on a specialized server based 12 core CPU and dual GPU setup across 3 high-end ultrasharp monitors...
Either I quit game or find some other ways but this is ********. It's not a "fix" and F U to all those who think anything more than 3, you're a botter. There are people who are talented and can box 6 manually and successfully. I have a youtube video to prove it.

You know L2 takes no advantage from extra core tech right ? I had a very good single core with hyper threading ( which L2 also doesn't support ), went to a Quad core and the game actually ran less smoothly, then I dug and found out L2 didn't support multi core and was steamed a bit.
A multi core's each independent core has a lower GHZ than its actual overall GHZ, and L2 is only recognizing that lower base.
I can kinda see a work around for that by setting L2 to run on a specific core, but how do you get the next instance of L2 you run as set for a different core ? I can see a work around for that as well, but it would eat a lot of HD space.

I can assure you, mine take full advantage of the 12 cores, all evenly distributed across all 12 @85% utilization... Butter smooth, each of 6 screens high detail at 80fps... I also run dual gpu setup, $400 workstation class motherboard, quad-channel memory, and good power supply. In fact, I firmly believe lineage 2 is one of the most optimized for multicore, maybe I'm just lucky SOB.. When I run only one, I can see the CPU utilization across 12 cores to be about 15% evenly... Really love my hardware but now might want to sell it and take a break for awhile

You are simply wrong. L2 is built on unreal2's game engine and it does not support multi core, never has, never will, they would have to rebuild it from the ground up, all's they ever do is give it a face lift now and again.
I'm happy for you that it runs well on your rig, it ran well on mine to, just not as well as on my single core that proceeded it. Your separate cores each probably possess a high base speed to begin with.
If you just don't want to believe me, years ago many players asked NC ( I wasn't one of them as I knew they wouldn't rebuild L2 from the ground up ) to make it so L2 supported multi core systems, boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=202940, I didn't get into this to argue whether L2 supports multi core, I posted as I had a couple of questions, which by not answering and responding as you did, you answered anyways. Fact is the spec's on each of your cores is probably pretty good, that is all.
Either Intel improved or NC developers did - I do not doubt in the old days, multi-core takes no such advantage. But I know when a program isn't optimized looks like - you got 4 core, 1st core nearly full to 99% (calculations, math, main program code), 2nd core will take maybe at most 30% (graphics probably), 3rd core be like 10% (sound), 4th core be nearly 0%. I've seen them and I know what they look like.
MINE RUNS 12 CORES nearly even +/- less than 2-3% difference going from 10%, 15% all the way to 88 or 90%... pure F even... if my eyes does not deceive me, I don't know what has...
more details for you - if I open 1 client... cpu across all 12 cores like 10%... 2 clients... 16% all even... 6 clients 88% even... scales up beautifully..
The point is, regardless of theory or knowledge, seeing is BELIEVING...
Your scale is lying to you, or your CP is shunting other functions to even out useage, which is the more likely scenario. I really don't get why you are arguing this, L2 is still on the unreal2 engine to this day.
You arguing L2 supports multi core is simply very misinformed, just search multi core on these forums and you will see the various QQ threads through the years about L2 not supporting multi core, you think they suddenly scrapped the game engine an redesigned from the skeleton up just for you my friend ? Thats a mighty big ego you're carrying around, and a very misinformed intellect.
It is what it is, you arguing a banana is an apple does not suddenly make it so, but if it makes you happy, go right on believing that the banana you're holding is indeed an apple. :p
