I've been getting bogus emails about my WildStar account being restricted for 72 hours from NC Support. And I need to confirm my info with support to resolve that.
I don't play Wildstar so that's really funny.
So be careful when you see those. If you're worried send a ticket to support, I did anyways and they responded promptly to let me know my L2 acct was fine.

I get them about my WoW accounts all the time, even though I never had WoW linked to that e-mail and gave it away years ago. I've never seen an e-mail scam I would fall for, but yes, some of the attempts are rather laughable.
I get the WoW ones too and I don't play that either. I've got it for Rift which I did play way back when it released, but it's fake.
I get it from paypal a lot. I got to the actual site and log in and it's all fine. I never respond to emails, I go right to the website and log in and check. So just a reminder to people be careful and ALWAYS go to the website to check your accounts, don't click links in emails or respond.
its very easy to figure out what is phishing and what is not, because the answer is quite simple in all cases.
for example: your bank sends you an email asking more info re your credit card or other banking. simply go into your bank, ignore the email, and ask to speak to anyone in charge. turns out every single bank, 100% of the time, 100% never sends out these kinds of emails, because when you sign up for a card you literally give them every detail they will ever need about you, and even if you cancel and switch banks, youve released to them your future info re contact anyway. read your bank contracts.
in mmo's its also the same solution; simply ignore the email, and contact the support via usual channels to inquire if indeed something is amiss. if there is, then youre fine, if not, well account saved.
personally, i ignore every email ive ever gotten. it is an old method of communication and no longer is of any use in the modern world.

You know I agree about email. People look at me like I'm mental when I say that email is old and nobody really uses it to talk. I try to avoid using email, but for work there's a few people I email because they don't own cell phones, just work issued phones that are really hard to text on. Not a big deal because email on an iphone is a breeze anyways. I'm all about the texting, but like I said, there are a few people out there that don't.
For non-work purposes, I just come in to a person and talk with it.
I'm not caged in between four walls like you might think.
I didn't think you were or assumed anything. I'm not even allowed to use my cell phone at work except on breaks. Business purposes sure, paying bills online or shopping online yes. Just to generally talk to someone via text, email is not the preferable way. It's not as instant as a message sent to your phone. It works if you have to, I just like texting over email.
Hopefully that was clear enough for you to get where I am coming from and what I meant.
I got one today saying my Paypal account was locked and to click this link to unlock, even though my paypal is not linked to that email. Gonna be lot more of scams since JPMorgan got hacked lol
