I am not sure what you mean, but Lineage 2 Classic is live in Russia since this week. Laby has set up a meeting point for English-language players here: http://boards.rochand.com/viewforum.php?f=53

If you have pre-ordered, you can play right now if you can get on the server :)
History is repeating itself, with Gran Kain being always full, like Talking Island in Korea, and the other servers being largely empty: http://l2.laby.fr/status/
As far as I know, the regular operations will start next week. Lineage 2 Classic is pay-to-play, with a monthly subscription. In the Rochand forum section I have linked above you will find how to pay from outside of Russia. This is the dedicated thread: http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=1335#p28495
The Innova staff is very helpful - they take anybody's money :D
@ Peri:
Not only at NCWest but also at Innova Europe Lineage 2 Classic is dormant. I personally have doubts whether there will ever be an English version at all. Right now they can observe from a safe distance what is happening in Russia, and so far it looks like in Korea, i.e. a considerable initial interest, but people getting frustrated when they can't get on the server. There is no queue - you must click like during the Tersi event. And the hardcore players (mostly from Russia) are right now establishing their clans on Gran Kain. Those people certainly won't move to an English-language server. You could say that Russia has already skimmed off the cream and nothing is left for the rest of the world :D
I don't want to get my hopes up but got to think how much better the game was in the old days
Lineage 2 Classic is not Chronicle 1. It is a different game, roughly inspired by the early Chronicles of Lineage 2, but for example with a 1/6 drop rate. Also check for example the SA-System in the Classic version: http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=1265&start=600#p28597

And if NCwest opens, we will get hue cream and nothing is left for the rest of the world.
I wouldn't play it, You think the game is hard now, it was worse then.
It is even harder than the original C1 with the 1/6th nerfed rates, no way I would waste time and money for a grind that's even worse than the original.
Then the wonderful class change quests, no adena for Gatekeepers, being almost level 40 with maybe 1 or 2 pieces of D grade gear.
I do not mind grinding, but Classic L2 is the grind of all Korean MMO's.

Don't forget no buff NPC either so you'd need to run a PP and if you wanted VR you'd also need a SE to pull around too. No herb drops either.
Somehow I did plow through those chronicles and the lvl 40 quests pulling a few all night marathons. No desire to go there again lol.
A lot of people from Russia would like start lineage 2 classic on EU/NA servers. Because not all like to play servers of company Innova-systems because of bad service (technical, psychological). If our wishes it is possible to inform to management NC-West, it would be great!
P.S. My english is not very good, may be I made some mistakes in the text.
I am sure this is one of the things Juji is discussing right now with his Korean counterparts in Seoul. But if I would be him, I would give the Russian Lineage 2 Classic at least a month and then see how things have developed after the initial hype has deflated a bit :D

Coming back to the days where you needed a PP + SE/BD box alongside you to be able to just defeat solo designed mosnters? No thanks.(L2 is so poor designed that fullbuffed you could even solo AOE group designed mobs like in catacombs for example).

It did encourage active support, but like most people I multi-boxed and eventually I was playing the SWS,SE and either a dwarf or some sort of damage type while we had people pulling trains in a AOE spot.
Don't get me wrong it's sh^t loads of fun, drops and xp,but the game has moved away from this sort of play.
I personally don't want to pay to start over basically and do what I did 10 years ago. There are things I miss, but it's not going to be the same again.
I been playing since prelude and I am pretty sure a Classic server in the western market would fail.
Call me crazy, but people think the game is a grind now.......wait until you are calculating how many soul shots you can use per mob kill to make your time productive but still efficient in making adena at the same time.

Well Classic l2 is different game where u have to save ur mana where u need kill mobs with quests or spoiler actualy is doing great job to get necessary resources for item crafting. It is actualy great game . There is no such things like mana herbs or smthing u actualy need to have decent mana regen :)
there is even some quests to get nice amount of sp to learn early skills. And so on and so on .But since this classic server getting updated very fast i don't see a point to play it again from 0 to Hero :D .
From what i have seen is that we start off around c3 -c4 & the update ends at Hellbound. just before everything goes wack.. than from there on the community will decide if they should continue to the next update.
personally starting at c3-c4 ending around Hellbound sounds perfect. the rate will be low too so its not like you can get lvl 80 in a week with S grade equipment. the experience with friends, crafting for hours, grind grind for days, the raids & castle sieges! It has potential to a great degree.
The game has features from many chronicles in 1 since fresh start, on the second update u get skilsl un never seen before on l2 classic, and u get skills from gracia final/freya update already. It wont have features that were seen on later chronicles. So saying the update finishes on hellbound and then u decide or w/e is moot point cause the game is already changed since it's introduction.
That's right. Also check the SA System in Lineage 2 Classic, which is completely different from the regular version - starting in D-Grade, Soul Crystals no longer upgradeable from monsters via a quest but with a Venir Talisman-like gamble system, costing tons of adena ...: http://lineage2classic.power.plaync.com/wiki/%EC%A7%91%ED%98%BC
Catacombs may be re-opened at a later time (the textures already exist, but the rooms are empty), but there will be no Seven Signs competition, no Seal Stone collecting: http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=1265&start=480

1/6 Adena drop rate. Toons adena needed for SA.
So nolifehardcoreplayers can get a B grade SA wep.

For me classic isn't really an option anymore, because I played the newer lineage to much, I got spoiled just like everyone else.
I hate the buff manager, I hate that u get every set of armor free until lvl 85.
Thats what makes lineage to easy right now and if it's to easy people will quit.
I think there should be a merge between classic and the latest lineage release. If it was me, i would bring back the old newb towns + al the old quests, release the max lvl on most quest (thats dumb anyway)
make it a little difficult to get C, B, A ,S and R grade instead of giving it free (every class transfer a difficult quest for obtaining armor and weapons or something) and make the exp /sp so that u need atleast a few weeks to get to 85, make it a little good ol' lineage challenging again but with al the expansions.
and R grade should be only craftable
can anyone remember how awesome it was if u got full B - grade? i still think B grade is awesome and occasionanlly i still walk in it ( and C grade Homunkulus' Sword acumen! best sword in the game!)
and the payments you ask? maybe this should keep the way it is now and i'm not sure how many people buy stuff on lineage nowdays and what the profits should be, but again: if it was me, you should only sell xp /sp buffs/boosts and wearable's for looks and that kinda stuff, but not the real hardcore stuff like enchanting items or other advantageous items for keeps (or even worse, for sells for adena) u need to buy a game to play it, not play a game to buy it. just play for your items!
and last but not least (and ofc i would gladly volunteer) get some people running around busy towns and good grinding spots to manually kick some bot-butt. (but ofc it's not a good idea to let random people do this for many reasons but still, if i see how many bots are running around, it should be easy for gm to kick alot)
btw an hourly captcha code (with an time-out for stores) to keep playing would also be a nice, it atleast helps against the 24H bots
There seems to be a misunderstanding. Lineage 2 Classic is a game, loosely based on Lineage 2, that is already live in Korea and in Russia. It is already developed and finished, and players don't get a say in what features will be included or not. This is Lineage 2 Classic: http://lineage2classic.power.plaync.com/
Innova Europe and/or NCWest will either get this exactly as it is (including, among other things, the 1/6 drop rate), or not at all. Getting out an English verion or not is a managerial decision based on financial indicators. Players do not get a say in this.
The Kamael and onward is a game loosely based on Lineage 2. Gracia Final and onward is a game loosely based on Lineage 2. Lineage 2 is a game loosely based on Lineage 1 :)
My point was that Lineage 2 Classic is not Chronicle 1. Especially private server players who are accustomed to multiple drop rates are in for a nasty surprise.
But you don't have to take my word for it. As mentioned above, Lineage 2 Classic is already live. Simply try it out. Unlike NCKorea, Innova takes anybody's money, and if you should be from the USA or some such country, here is how to move your subscription fee to Russia: http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=1357#p29015
I'd call Lineage 2 Classic more of a reboot than being based on or inspired by the original implementation of Lineage 2. The game plays pretty much how it did back then, or at least how it should have back then. The differences in available skills during this time period and how some of them work came from the past 11 years of experience of how the game played in a minor attempt at better "balance". Most of the changes are welcome changes (including the drop rate change), which is surprising to me based on NCsoft's track record of terrible design decisions.
I seriously hope if anyone from the private server communities wants to play on a Classic server that they realize what the differences between an official server and a private server are before they even try. That the very reason private servers came about was to alter the rates of everything and to avoid paying a sub fee. Imo most are the same as the current generation of T-Ball trophy "gimme gimme" gamers, so maybe instead of educating themselves beforehand they'd rather just try and then complain.
If Innova opens a server with an english client I'll join without hesitation, though I'd prefer to play here on NCwest. Because.. I don't know why, I cringed a little writing it. But if NCwest were to open a Classic server before I got too invested in euroland I'd jump back here.
