Coming Back!

Howdy, y'all!

Its been about 7 years since I've played this game. I was an original Beta player for the US and got 1 character up to level 65.

Then I got Married.

Cut my account, and apparently when you are inactive for a long time they erase your account.

So, due to work changes, I've got some free time to come back and play again.

I'm sure the game has changed tremendously, and I have to start all over.

While the game is downloading, I've got a couple questions.

I know its a PvP heavy game, but its not my main focus, got any suggestions for a server? I'm in the Central Time Zone USA.

Is crafting still a total grind nightmare? At this point is a Dwarf worth it or should I just try to buy my stuff?

Thanks for any help.

I suggest Chronos for CST.

As for levels the game pushes you to 85 quickly. You will get a strongbox in your inventory that will give you gear all the way to R grade. You can also get in the in-game store for 1 ncoin.

After 85 you are going to really want a clan to do instances and group oriented daily quests. Get a mentor, you'll have buffs while they are online (I suggest getting a clan and get a clannie to do it) you also get a Xp boost.

Crafting is I guess all up to what you prefer. I make my money during game events through the in-game store. I usually spend no more than $20-$30 and build my bank roll. The drop rate is lousy in my opinion now. Everyone does their business differently, I just choose to do it the legal quicker way because I can't play 6+ hours straight. Maybe read up on the patch notes and consult with a clan when you find one.
quit.
A journey back into the game that you left 7 years ago for a noble and very good reason will be a culture shock. The regions that you once adventured in has changed in a drastic and unfortunate turn. The server time has been set, by poll when they rolled out GoD, to appease the Brazilian and East Coast players. Certain sections of the map has been recycled to accommodate the higher level characters. The class of characters have been streamlined and streamlined again to the point where they are just a shadow of their glorious selves. The servers, Chronos is the one you want btw, are fully populated by colorful, and not so interactive people. The colorful ones flock to high level clans to seek fame, glory, and adena using the "D.E.L.T.A." method. What's "D.E.L.T.A."? It stands for "Determined Egotistical Lying Treacherous ********" and their motto is "Win if you can, lose if you must, but always remember to cheat". Granted, not all players use this method but still guilty by association because they turn a blind eye to it. The not so interactive players, if not clanned, associate in low level clans to find hunting spots and turn on the cruise control. Some of these players are minions to the higher level players mentioned above. Why not? It's conforms to their motto. The rest of these players are just slaves and miners for the big conglomerate of currency traders, and that's ok for some of the high level players. They really stick to their motto.

Upon stepping into the main trading towns, you will notice that the players are burdened with large amount of Adena because 7 years is a long time and in that time players have accumulated vast quantities. This has a negative result in the economy and NCSoft devs are busy with providing counter measures to try to bring the economy back in order so the new players and players who are coming back can be on equal footing with the long time players of the servers. The development team streamlined the crafting system and streamlined it again in hopes to make it easier to understand. To adjust to the lower Adena drop amount, they introduced crafting packs which drop from high level raids and instances, and to better accommodate the casual players, they often sell these packs in the microtransactioned store and often hyped chance machine called "The Wheel".

They've streamlined and turbo powered the leveling via "The Path to Awakening". For the causal players, they introduced special products to enhance your exp rate, which can be purchased via the microtransactioned store. Shock and awe will entrance you as click your way up to awakening in a fast as one day. No longer you will feel the dredge and misery of grinding your way to the next level which used to take a month at most. You will probably facepalm yourself when you reach the level that you left, with the least amount time you spent doing the second class quest of yore. FYI, the second class change system was also streamlined, and then streamlined again, and then did away to accommodate the casual players. So feel free to facepalm yourself again when you reach level 40 in less than an hour.

Finding friends, new or old, is easier as they streamlined the party matching system and made chatting with other players simple with the now customizable chat system. Do not let the new multicultural lingo deter you from interacting with others, it's best to adapt and integrate with people from across the globe. Soon, you will trash talk with the best of them as you role play in this brave new world. This world named Lineage 2.

Good luck and godspeed.
