No, it's not enough to have it in your Inventory. The Seed Talisman Manager has 4 links for Talisman - Hellfire. You must click on the second link. In the lower right quarter of the interface it says "Required Items". Only if you see Kaliel's Energy Annihilation listed there, it will be used in the upgrading process to protect your Annihilation Talisman :)
