New to being a healer

Aeore Healer Started Last reply 19 posts
Hello all, so I awakened my Seer and went Aeore Shillien Saint as my dual class...this is the first time I have ever played an awakened healer and to be honest I am pretty lost with all this skills. I'm asking if some healers would please post some screen shots of there hotbar setup so I can have a few ideas. And would you please help me with these skills, which heals for which situation. I know I'm asking for a lot but just wanting some tips here!

Thanks
For PvE use mostly only chain heal (= Progressive heal) and balance life (you dont even need to use shots for these skills). Sometimes you can use group heal (Briliant heal), but for PvE you should keep you party alive on balance and chain heal. Use instances like teredor or other and buy mana elixirs recipe. Use mana elixirs if you need mana. Later you should use celestial and party celestial protection.
Dont forget to use Radiant purge (single cleanse) and later Briliant purge (mass cleanse) as soon as you see debuffs on party members (you should play with debuffs view on. All the time).

For PvP:
use only panic heal, chain heal and in crisis use balance. Nothing more. If you have easy pvp you can use group heal. Use Sustain as much as you can. Try to keep up as many Fairies as you can.

You will leanr over time what to do, dont worry.

If you want to play healer seriously, you will need something like this:

the sheer number of functions you must be able to perform is astounding as a healer. sure, you can play without that level of technology, but you're going to pull your eyebrow hair out.
Thanks Generis11! I have the n52te...sorta like the picture you posted.

Extra notes.
I'm using G13 as well.

So fast reuse skill I did bind to G13 keys.
Slow reuse or not really critical are on top line or just not bind (like mass rez ) and I do click them :)
There are few skills on mine 10th bar what I flip during buff (mana gain/augment skills / pet soulshot etc)

Healer SS is nice to play in PvE.
As you have 1 target and party rebirth + mana gain you should be ok with MP.
Your natural huge M attack make possible exp solo almost like nuker.
To be efficient use inqustor + summon (remember about pet soulshots)

About party.
Healing as was said above (normal 1 target heal is almost useless).
Remember to cast noble on all party members or your iss run out of MP rebuffing all the time after dead.
Use Lumi debuff on target.

What to do with other players:
Nukers - always insist to use BtM
Daggers - ask to not spam single target skills ... when you are in AoE party.
Tank - if he insist to use Vanguard pretending be DD and consuming MP, just ignore him let him run without MP :)
Summoners - ignore his MP - they don't need it :)
ISS - keep his MP at some level or he can't cast some high MP skills.
When your MP is critically low and you miss 1 min to rebirth - ask him to heal.
Archers - some of them like to trigger skills, going next to source of dmg. If you cant heal them up, tell them to step back.

When you going to do rebirth, say it to let other come to range.
Real mastery is to play in 2 healers in party, to not cast all skills together(*)
To do it, best is TS/vent :)

(*) or to not use skills when other just remove effect.
do tanks run out of mp using auras?
or is it only the toggles which kill the mp?
Vanguard stance and that shield toggle get costly.

Challenge aura is good because it provides a 20% mp cost reduction.
although it's probably more like 8-12% after other bonuses.

spirit increases mp regeneration. but honestly i think the cost reduction of challenge is better.

having enchanters heal is important when you're in a pinch, out of mp and your rebirth was canceled, or just low in general... but it's often too much to ask if you're in a random party for the enchanter to do anything but auto attack.

i completely agree about the Summoner not needing mp though, i hate having to ask a healer not to recharge my summoner... they always say but they "like everyone to be at full mp" because it looks better on screen or some such reason.

(...)
Mind shortcut - I meant Vanguard for tanks who want be DD :D
Other I don't mind - especially as healer I like all what preserve MP .

If we are about tanks info to OP.
Remeber to not use fairy / sustain on LE/DE tank unless one ask for it.
They have cubics and they like them ;)
Both aggression skills have 0 mp cost.

If they want to blow all their mp smashing skills with a toggle on, let them, you wont ever need to recharge a tank for him to do his job.
What about the tree, what does it do and when do I use it?
What about the tree, what does it do and when do I use it?

In general - use it - cheap (MP wise) and:
- give reasonable heal
- remove debuffs

Problems are:
- unpredictable heal/debuff targets/time
- easy dies (as pet)

It is not skill what you cast to safe party in critical momenet - but very good in stable and know exp location.
Perfect example Kartia.

Biggest disadvantage is in some location it brings enormous aggro from mobs.
If you encounter it - just don't use it :)

In PvP when you consider ambush at port spot - cast it, just in case - maybe it heals you (or someone else), and save your precious HP before you can do anything. Same goes when you do PR to zone what is not town.

Ofc If you know there are enemies - more wise maybe is use cele - but it is other story.
Great, thanks for the help!
I´d say tree is waste of mana. I never needed it in PvE and in PvP it is gone in eyeblink.

Sometimes when I was bored I casted tree and kicked it to melees fighting the mobs.
NC censorship :(
actually, just don't post stupid stuff Hosaka..........
Tree is pointless.

If you are gonna still use it, dont put it on top of ppl, thats hella annoying.

Also dont summon it in Kartia 95 on boss. If you wanna know why, read the description of the buff on the boss.

If/when I'm using it I rather use it in two scenarios:
- static place of pve (eg. kartia 1st stage)
- as self protect if I know it do not make extra aggro

Anyway as I said tree is not any 'last' hope skill. I'm using it at Kartia, when in 1st stage, is actually only one heal skill what I'm using.
Anyway as OP is asking about low level, I recall being 8x healer I was using tree, and apart of agrroing mobs in SoA was useful.

P.S. if we talk about K95 RB stage - I know and never use tree after stage 6.
Try not healing at all on stage 1, it works also.

Tree is pointless. Put it up in pvp maybe, but for pve, how about you try healing, and stop wasting mp on summong pointless stuff.

Those are my 4 main bars (and stats). I also have bar 5 for less used skills/buffs (salvation etc) and bar 10 for shots etc as it's easy to switch from 1 and 4. I use a nostromo so layout isn't in normal order. I also try to have ALL quick use skills on 1 layout so my fingers are used to reacting no matter if pve, pvp, oly or siege.

Main things that aren't obvious for healer are a /target self macro to quickly target your self and party chat macros for rez, cleanse, rebirth etc. Purge group purge are insanely important too, as well as noble after rezzing someone.

Tree is useless in PvE unless you're struggling in somewhere without AOE. In PvP I use it if I have time in the hopes it gets a lucky cleanse off, but it's usually down instantly.

Another important skill is Giant's Favour, not for the p.def, but for the ++ heal power.... if your group is in trouble pop that and become a healing god whilst it's up. Sustain on someone taking damage before you heal them will also give a good boost.

PvE wise (and PvP) I arrange my party list to put tank on top, then melee, then range/2nd healer (use ALT + Drag people's names). Progressive heal works best when you heal someone next to the person with the lowest HP, by arranging your bar you can easily target someone in melee range of the guy with low HP.
Thanks everyone for the tips and help...I'm starting to get it figured out. Just sticking to K85 for the moment until I feel ready for SOA and up!
