I've spent years playing Lineage 2, I think it is high time to enjoy the game properly.
The problem is that L2 is an old game on an old engine. It's just not going to make much use of a super high end PC. All you are doing is brute forcing your way through the game's shortcomings as best you can.
If you want the BEST you can possibly get, get a decent CPU, a good chunk of fast RAM (like 8GB+), and then get a PCI express SSD to run your os AND L2 + Swap disk off of.
L2 is terrible in terms of reading from the HDD all the time, so a very fast HDD will make a world of difference.
In terms of Video card. Just get a decent one that will play anything else you really want to play. Any decent modern video card will handle L2 just fine, just make sure it has a good chunk of memory on it.
ABRAMS;3481605']Now in PC for L2 the most important is: CPU+memory bandwitch next SSD and finaly GFX, amount RAM
i have i5 2500k @ 4,6
16gb - ram 1600 @
ssd 512 - 850 pro
gf660 ti
If u wanna fast teleport - SSD
If u wanna open 3 account in 1920x1200 - CPU
If u wanna fps on mass pvp - CPU +1600mhz RAM, GFX, WTFast
On i5 2500k @ 4,6gh In aden i open:
- 3 acc in 1920x1200 in high details and CPU utilization is on 90%, GPU is 65%
- 1 acc is about CPU 30%, GPU 55%
On mass pvp use option "dont show cloak" and u must have WTFast!
Amount of RAM is not importand coz L2.exe its 32bit application ;)
Not true anymore. L2 currently (with a few times being intermittently broken) can use more than 3GB of memory per client. The client is aware of large memory availability and has been for like 2 years.
A normal SSD will also fall behind the newer PCIE SSD drives out there.
And as noted, L2 is OLD, it will not take full advantage of the video card. Getting the most monstrous beast of a card will give negligible improvements for L2 over a decent card. Get one based on any other games you play, it'll do fine for L2.
Hello. Tired of going anywhere and my FPS drop to 1, I need to know what a good configuration computer to play mass pvp.
The characteristics of my old computer are:
Crucial 120gb SSD
AMD Phenom II X4 BE
4Gb Ram
Radeon 5770
What is the secret to getting make a fluid mass pvp?
Is that ssd an mx100? That SSD is fine I agree i5+ is necessary. At least 8gb of low latency RAM(low latency is more important than high frequency). A GTX 960 or 970 would be solid too( I use a 970). You will probably need a beefier PSU 750+ .

I use my arma 3, BF4 and ACU rig for this haha. Total overkill but it is nice. You can always use DSR to use that extra power. About the SSDs though yeah pcie ones are fast but expensive. The good ol sata ones like mine are great...

Well he did say best, not budget :)
SSD's are a minimum investment in order to get decent L2 performance.

....
this my set up and it runs flawless even in Sieges with 3 clients up at high details, only issue left is ISP latency aka distance from my pc to NC servers which I solved by using BattlePing

additional u see how much memory take client in full details? 1,3 GB
* 32bit = address to 4GB ram not 3GB ;)
Yes, but there are flags that make applications aware of more memory and able to use them. Not as good as native support, but still there.
How do you think there were 32bit servers with more than 3GB of ram back in the day?
In this case, setting the L2.bin to be LAA (large address aware) allows it to use more than 3B of total memory (RAM+ swap).
I believe it can use up to 4GB with that flag enabled.
At one point it was disabled by default. Then it went through a period of swapping back and forth between enabled/disabled with various weekly patches. I believe it's been enabled fairly consistently for awhile now however.

l2 always use around 1,3-1,5Gb, never saw more then that
2,5GB on one process L2.bin? or whole system utilization of memory?? :D
if only on L2.bin so u must have some memory leaks... its impossible on good healty windows.
on old systems (xp, w2k) with 1280x1024 was about 0,9GB on win7 1920x1200 its about 1,3GB.
BUT plzz make screen from ur task manager where u have L2.bin*32 with 2,5gb
Crucial 120gb SSD
AMD Phenom II X4 BE
4Gb Ram
Radeon 5770
U have good hardware and enought for L2, but maybe u have problem with windows?
step by step:
1. test ur connection and paste it here: www.speedtest.net (http://www.speedtest.net) and choose HUSTON TX. PING should be about 160 if u r in Europe, less if u r from America.
And better use wire connection not crap WiFi coz its good for looking on www not for gaming.
2. Try cleaning ur windows (i use https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download), or better make new fresh install +
- latest drivers for a mobo from the manufacturer site
- same graphics
- DX9.0c
- all updates from MS
3. Then use some diagnostic tool (i use old AIDA32 but u can try TRIAL: http://www.aida64.com/downloads/NzdhZDFmYTc=) and check:
- data rate for memmory: 1600 / 1333 (firs chceck on modules what data rate u have)
- cpu - is there the highest multiplier when its full load
if u see any problem -> BIOS
4. When u wanna play L2 close all a.virus, a.malwere, internet security, aditional firewalls...

L2 has numerous memory leaks, and on certain configurations they can get VERY bad. That's why I only run one client on my main system. My mentee and buffer are on a side system where performance doesn't matter.
I have to regularly exit the client at least once a day to keep it under control. Sometimes more if it's a siege day and we're bouncing around all over.
When I had windows 10 on this system, was a completely different issue. I never had to reload the client. Too bad the updates killed Game Guard comparability and I had to reload Windows 7 again.
Why would I want to purposefully do that to myself again?
I used to do it when I needed to load more clients to get into things (baium toons, etc), but the forced migrations and need to have a unique e-mail for every single l2 account has made me just ditch the other accounts I've had for years and stick with two. So I'm not likely to ever see more than 1.5GB on this system again for l2.bin unless my laptop dies.
You can believe it or not, I really don't care. :)
