Ok so:
I got chat banned for chatting to friends in party chat.
I can't type and link an item with a long name in the same message.
I can't link more than 1 item in chat ( that's what got me chat banned).
My Friends got chat banned in CLAN chat....
Whenever I use a macro skill that talks in party chat (rez, cleanse, target etc) the chat ban extends.....
When in chat ban you now can't communicate full stop.... not even in private (party/clan etc) channels.
Now when the ** have adena sellers linked items, used party or clanchat or any non-public channels????
Seriously... wtf is going on, is this a bug or intended functionality? It defies rationality, but sadly so do most of them developments in this game.

if it helps, chat bans are only client-side and not server-side. That's why the adena spammers can keep spamming because they are just injecting packets to the server directly without the use of a l2 game client.
The chat ban restrictions on the client-side have not changed. However, we did add some chat ban restrictions to the server-side last week. It only affects people using illegal third-party programs to send packets to the server for spamming chat (Adena Spammers).

Thanks for the reply Juji, but these changes don't just affect spammers, they're affecting players too.
Typing some text and linking a long named item in chat no longer works (WTS +7 "LINK: Augmented Blessed Retributer").
Unable to link more than 1 item per chat line.
Link 5 items = instant chat ban (armor/jewel set).
Chat Ban now covers party chat - this is new and greatly affects people with macros that type in party chat, a very common function.
Chat Ban now includes clan/ally chat - this is new.
People are triggering chat bans in other ways through normal use.
I don't know what's happened, but somehow these changes are hitting players. Myself and other friends have managed to trigger these virtually permanent chat bans through normal play. Permanent as in being unable to type for 1-2 hours including chat + skill macros, so you have to remove your macros or not play.
Can you at least change to so private channels such as party, clan and ally aren't affected?
Summary: Users will receive an intrusive and possibly infinite chatban when linking items.
Description: The chat system will enforce an all channel chat ban on players who link a number of items in any chat channels. Once triggered this new chat ban system will prevent chat in any chat channels, including private channels and will extend up to a point where the user simply cannot communicate in game.
Version:(Unknown, current release for 04 Apr 2015).
Reproduction Rate: 10/10
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log in a character and have them in a party or clan.
2. Open that character's inventory and use Shift + Click on an item to link the item in the party or clan chat channel.
3. Repeat Step '2' two more times to make a total of 3 items linked.
4. Type ".." into the chatacter's chat box and submit this to the same chat channel as the links were made.
5. Repeat Step '4' two more times to make a total of 3 lines of text submitted.
6. The user should receive a chatban - If not, then repeat with increased repetitions of steps 3 and 5.
Notes: This issue has been reproduced multiple times during normal play for multiple users. It is not known exactly how many lines of each type of text will produce the issue, or whether the items linked change the reproduction rate of the issue, however the above steps have been tested and confirmed on multiple characters.
Usage of ingame party chat macros exaggerates this issue and causes players to be chat banned for prolonged periods of time of 3+ hours during normal play. (E.G. A Macro to type Target this target, using skill xxx in party chat).
