Last night I had a dream;
and in my dream, I saw a perfect Lineage2.
Everywhere I went, Adena drop was increase 5-10 times,
Bounty hunters spoiling happily here and there, Warsmiths making shots
and gears to sell them.
And there were no more bots, cuz the adena drop and item drop rate
was so good that people didn't have the need to bot or buy adena
from Adena sellers.
To make sure, NC placed EAoeM-000 Everywhere making Botting impossible.
EDAoePM-000 = Elite Deadly AOE(takes 5 sec to cast but does 1 million AOE Damage) Passive(doesn't attack first) Mob
with 0 Exp 0 Sp 0 Adena 0 Drop.
-Basically players have no reason to attack this mob but they are there
to stop the bots. When A-Bot-train auto attacks it, it's gonna take them
1 hr to kill it and it drops nothing, but casts 1 million damage AOE.
they have 5 sec to get away from the Mob but if they stay, they all die.
Element of Gambling was removed from N-Store.
There was a massive Online-Gambling-investigation by the US Justice
Department (initiated by...LOL guess who!) NC finally learned its lesson.
Instead, Chance based events became available for everyone in the game
for FREE. For every 10 level, players got 1% bonus chance of event item
drop-rate increase, but for awakened class, they had 1% bonus drop-rate
for every 1 level.
so for level 85 character, he had 8% chance of getting event items from
killing mobs and LvL 95 had 18% of getting event items.
All this for Free.
All the N-store items that were available only at N-store became
available not just in the store, but in the world of L2 with good Drop-Rate.
N-store had vitality + cosmetics items, and they still sold gears
but element of randomness was removed(No Online Gambling LAW)
instead players paid directly for the items s/he wanted.
N-store item prices got higher but at least people who paid knew
they wouldn't blow away their money, but got exactly what they paid for..
so those who paid a lot, still paid a lot.
Hero Coins became account bound and stayed with the account
and sharable within all the toons in that account.
Leveling became so hard for high level players though...
But NC sold One Godly Rune, G-Rune for 5,000 N-coins(500% Exp 1-100+
500% Drop Rate, +20% damage, +20% increased HP,CP, +100 Attribute, +1000 p.Def, +1000 M.def), basically a must rune for End-game players
for leveling, Raid, PvP.
People who didn't have the access to Credit Cards or simply too poor
to play this game were still welcome to play Lineage2 for they could
still buy the G-Rune from other players with the Adena and item drops
s/he got by playing more hours.
Those who paid a lot, paid extra to help the poor(poor but with a lot of
play times) getting Hero coins in the process.
NC had no complaints about gifting G-Rune system cuz for them,
as long as they sold More G-Runes, it didn't matter who paid for them.
Then the Major Expansion came....
It looked as if all the End game gears were gonna be Trash...
But NC hired a mathematician To review the Value of High enchant R99
gears for fair pricing and made NPC in town buy them with good price.
10% extra actually so people would welcome the new Expansion
gears. NC also Increased the MAX ADENA per character by 1 digit.
Max Adena players could carry became 1 Trillion adena.
It didn't matter for NC. Unlike Real Casino,
They lost nothing when players won...
When more adena or item dropped...
they were all vitual items which cost NC nothing to make...
As Long As players were happy, They Stayed, played...and Paid.

Obviously, you seem to think that I am missing something big.
Please enlighten me on this matter and let me know
what you think that I don't know.
The only way to try obtaining a close to perfect L2 is throwing everyhing they've done in the trashcan and start everything from scratch, staring with a new engine. A 100% reformulated game inspired in the the points that made Lineage 1 their biggest success:
- balanced pvp
- competitive pvp
- focus on open word grind-bosses with very few instances
- a decent work-reward equation of grind/drops
- a new cash shop designed not to be a total P2W game following the example of GW2
Otherwise L2 will only continue losing players as you can see in the 1Q15 earnings, where L2 Classic + GoD together made less money than the same quarter of 2014 without Classic servers, therefore, L2 currently has less players than one year ago.

What am I missing, Jacky?
What you missing is bottrain will not autoattack anything they are not told to attack. 2ond thing how do you think bots autocelestial when someone try to use lethal them ? 5 second cast skill with megapower ? oO
bot train will be miles away that moment when someone near them start cast it.
So as i said you need learn how things work. Then try to throw free advises.

Thank you Jacky for letting me know how smart bot programs can be.
I think NC can design Bot-killing mobs to have the same name and same
shape as the regular mobs in the area, but to have some strange glows
real players can see to distinguish it from regular mobs.
NC can also update the code for Bot-killing mobs every once awhile,
once a week will be ideal when they go server down on Wednesdays.
But I guess it all comes down to hackers vs NC soft
I saw the news a couple of weeks ago...
In China, they caught a group of 10 North Korean Hackers
running Bots on L2 homeland Servers, making
$200,000-$300,000 USD a month just by running bot programs
and doing Real Money Trading.
Now...those guys are computer experts hand-picked by
North Korean Government, making money for their country...
I guess there will never be one-time-fix-it-all solution to this problem.
Whoever is more diligent and dedicated will win in the end.
I also agree that this would not stop people from botting.
This would stop the big botcompanies and adena sellers.
When it comes down to humans, there is one fundamental thruth:
Humans are lazy...
and
Humans want the best of the best for themselves...
That's why people bot, greed and laziness and one other thing:
TIME
So even if you would apply your solution, wich I know would be heaven for like 60 % of the players who have TIME,
the other 40 who dont' have the TIME to play will still Bot to not fall behind on their friends.
So in addition to your solution, u would have to Authorize botting.
There are many games that include a bot program successfully.
I'm number one against botting, but I do understand that if u love Lineage 2 and u don't have the time
to play it like it's intended, u will end up botting to keep up with your friends.
Lots of reasons u might start to bot:
*You don't want to fail your schoolyear and study
*You just became parents of a beautifull baby and want to take care of the baby but still want to keep up in L2.
*You got a new job or promotion that requires you to work longer hours or even weekends.
*So many reasons that may take game time away... good ones...
Does a player need to be punished for that to get left behind, because he can't level as fast anymore, no , off course not ...
I would suggest NC soft to include botting tickets to buy trough NC coins
Tickets that allow u to bot for 2 /4 /8 hours a day.
Makes them more money ..
secondly how I see it work ?
Per level u can hunt certain zones ;
At lvl 58 u would go forsaken plains
AT lvl 65 it's forest of the dead for mages or swamp of screams for melee
At 70 it's Wall of argos
At 85 it's Bloody Swampland
etc etc ...
So the ticket you would buy would give you 2/4/8 hours worth of xp/sp/adena based on your Path/matk, that you
would actually make hunting that place, but, ... without going there, by just standing in town afk for the duration of your ticket.
(if getting disconnected during that duration the ticket should not run down in time).
This is how most games that include botting work, so you don't take up the space of a live player in the hunting fields and don't annoy live groups.
Most games also make it possible to choose between solo xp and full group xp.
Like I said, I am against botting, but I have the time to play, and I do understand why some would do it.
NC soft can't fight the bots, if you can't fight them u have to be smarter then them with the same weapons they use, they use bots, nc soft has to use bots against them.
@Anonymous2014
on the euro servers they have training just book your toon in and it gets trained once a day as you sleep so you going in at 60 and come out at 70 or more
Increase adena drop -> bots farm more adena -> greater supply of adena -> items get more expensive -> No relative change from before.
The issue right now is that there are groups of "players" (quoted because they aren't playing the game really...) who control a good portion of the wealth on the servers. Normally this would be ok, but when the wealth is accumulated by cheating, then it's not.
(To try and make it more apparant how bots hurt the economy: Imagine all bots are real players. Now imagine that they are all hunting like any other player and getting drops. Now imagine that they also spend adena on something like teleporting, failing crafts, blowing up weapons/armours, and any other activity that takes drops and sends it to /dev/null, except bots don't. Now we have a bloat of resources, with only a portion of the server population using them.
Let's say 50% of the server are bots (hypothetical), this means that the economy acts as if only 50% of the server (non-bots) has 100% of the available resources, which is twice more than what it should actually be and therefore prices will be higher as a result.
Again imagine if everyone had twice the amount of adena, and prices stayed the same, that's what it would be like *without* bots)
Players *cannot* do anything about cheaters, they can only accuse one another for being one and nothing else can be done. Cheaters usually have very thick skins and don't give a rats *** about people calling them cheaters, in fact some cheaters get a kick out of it. The only people who can do something are GMs.
If we can reduce bot population, the adena supply will gradually drop to *normal* levels, prices will drop as a result.
ps. I'm not sure why NCSoft opts to make changes that hurt both players as well as bots (e.g. nerfing drops and spoils), instead of a more targetted approach (like the suggested fake mob, or invisible mobs that some private servers use as anti-bot mechanism).

+no bots by a good antiboot system
+Unreal Engine 4+
+content for 1 party or less members, and not only for 21+ chars
So moreless the promissed Lineage3 but with a good antibot system.
Why don't they just make a completely new game then?
You're right, it's better to try and promote a new game instead of re-promoting L2 once again. Accordign to Elmar, there are 20 L2 developers, during GoD development there were 200.
NC is now focusing its resources and manpower on new games like MasterXMaster (they really want some piece of the MOBA market, mainly LoL players), Lineage Eternal (if it turns a good Lineage 1 sequel, they'll have their second cash cow for the next two decades).
They have also acquired Unreal Engine 4 for multiple games, another Lineage can be among them, but as the deal was made in 2013, don't expect an Unreal 4 based Lineage before 2020+ simply because they need 7-8+ years to develop an AAA MMO - Blade & Soul development started in 2005 and was only released in 2012 - Lineage Eternal development started in 2008 and is only aimed for late 2016.
Lineage Eternal has promise even though it follows the same style as Diablo series but with wider MMO capabilities. Honestly, with the way the company (NCSoft West) is trending, do players still harbor any type of loyalty? Are we ready to have time invested in a game run by a company that outsources most of their customer services? Or even invest real money into a game economy that depends on micro-transactions and minimal return game events?
Sure, being optimistic about a fresh start on a new game is nice and a wonderful dream. But eventually, the fresh start will develop the same problems that L2 did since they changed over to the "Free to Play" model.

The problem of L2 model is that they focus on draining tons of money from 5% of the whales while 95% of the playerbase can't afford it like the whales can, therefore they can't compete.
A good model is like GW2 or for MOBAS, LoL model: you can drain lots of money from all players - aka a small amount per player. L2 must increase the drop rates and decrease the P2W factor of the store following the example of GW2 that is doing very well.
As for Lineage Eternal, I hope to experience the good old Lineage 1 days and pledge wars again with Eternal. I hope NC will not dissapoint the old L1 players like me.

This is where u know players don't know how it used to be, the adena drop rate does not really have to go up much higher , but the items or item parts drop rate and spoil DO have to get upped, why, so players can actually craft their own armors and weapons again whitout having to resort on buying from botters in the first place.
When everyone was able to craft their own gear at least, they had a good chance on making it in lineage 2.
And if they were driven and had a bit of passion for crafting and trading they could get rich.
Crafting has literally been taken away from the general population, off ocurse the top players still have that advantage, but that is a minority only 10 % of the server, the rest can't even dream of crafting anymore.
THAT is what was NC soft's biggest mistake in Lineage2, taking craft and spoil away.
Ps: the more items there are on the market the cheaper they become, it's a logical effect of offer and demand, if you did marketing you would know this.

U know that NC soft is not even paying the rights to several graphic card engines support rith, have you looked at the error codes u get when the game crashed, they just put in a loop for a bug, that's why it crashes so much, just because they don't want to pay the licenses.
So unreal 4 seriously, with the financial trouble NC soft is in and all the lawsuits they are losing, just because of their greed.
Dun think this will happen, ....
But if they did, this be the number one game on the shelf again
I hoipe some really smart guy at nc soft korea would think like a Japanese .
The Japanese Lineage 2 have zero bots, fluid servers, the Koreans really should learn form the Japanese.

I agree that they should return to the players the chance to craft their own gears again.
But even so the problem about bots will still remain and instead of summoner bot trains we will now see spoilers bot trains. In the end bots are still winning.
IMO I don't think they nerfed adena drops, spoils, etc. just because of bots but also to force players to spend real money -> L2store.
Game is free to play now and if you don't want to spend real money that's the only things that the game has to offer. If you want more you need to spend real money that's why lots of people saying that it's all depends on your pocket.
If the end goal is to remove bots and remove pay to win. Then see my previous comment. Apart from investing a lot of time an resources into counter botting, you can either:
A: Greatly reduce drops on free accounts. Give rune to buy for normal drops.
B: Not have free accounts.
Even then you need a GM to comb over servers for bots.
I dont get all the gongecture in the forums though. Look at NCsoft on www.glassdoor.com. Their CEO has. 22% approval rating from it's employees. The guy simply doesnt know how to run a business and also doesnt care. NCwest has new management every year and they all seem to hate their jobs.

I'll take my $1,000,000 check in the mail. Thanks.
too much difference between them.and doesnt need of 2 subscription lvls imo.and the one playning free cant spoil?lol. the on playing free must be x1 on everything and the one paying must be 3x.and dont make it different accounts the paid and the free one so the one playing free can pay if he wants for a month and vice versa. afreed on the bot part and ill add script too.now make the game less lvl grindy while(if you want) keep the grind on the items etc.give more solo options(not only farm areas but solo options for the game in general, to be able to acquire more things playing solo)because its freaking 2015 and ppl cant login together with 32948734 others to do something.
In addition to this I would like to say that the NC coin items fall under a suspicious light.
They are "gambling" items, u get a "chance" to get something or "lose" it all.
The prime definition of gambling, win or lose on chance based games.
Exactly what most event NC coins items are..
Isn't that prohibited by law?seen that most Lineage 2 players are minors ?
Gambling is forbidden in most American states (and European) for minors.
These are items purchased with cash or credit card with a gambling aspect.
NC soft better changes this before someone is smart enough to sue them for this.
While events are well known as a "game of chances", gambling involves using something of monetary value in expectation of something of monetary value in return. As per Websters:
Gamble
: to play a game in which you can win or lose money or possessions : to bet money or other valuable things
: to risk losing (an amount of money) in a game or bet
: to risk losing (something valuable or important) in order to do or achieve something
As per Lineage 2 EULA Section 4 part d vii:
"You acknowledge that NCoin is digital material with no cash value, that no interest is paid or earned with respect to NCoin, that NCoin is not personal property"
Section 4 part e:
"No Cash Value - In addition to Your above acknowledgment that NCoin is digital material with no cash value, You also acknowledge and further agree that there is no cash value to any Item or opportunities related to any Item, that You have no right to obtain any recompense for the foregoing, and that you will not seek to obtain any recompense for the foregoing."
Section 9 of the EULA deals directly the subject on minors and it's the legal guardian's responsibility, legally, for the actions and consequences of the minor.
In short: NCCoin has no cash value to be legally considered as gambling. By clicking "I Accept" at the EULA page at login, the player agrees that he, or she, is of legal age (18 years old) or a minor who has consent from a guardian who is of legal age.
NCSoft has been sued so many times, that they change and update frequently the EULA to protect themselves against lawsuits. There is even a section in the EULA that makes you responsible in reading the EULA before clicking "I Accept".

Actually that's where u are wrong, there is cash value, u have to buy them with real money.
so there is a REAL value to all those items that can be calculated and sold on websites outside the game.
hence, it's gambling
hence EULA has to be revised.

Everytime you click on "I Accept", you agree with NCSoft that NCCoins have no value, monetary or personal, to you and those who encounter inside the game. Sure, you believe otherwise and I agree with you, but with countless of players that click on that button, a court case against NCSoft stating that they contribute to the delinquency of a minor will not hold up. Here, in the "United States of Sue Your Butts With the Justice and Legal System", a contract is binding when it is signed, even if it's something mundane as a button click and a rider stating that you understand that you are clicking a button on a contract.
Section 9a:
"(a) By clicking "I ACCEPT" You warrant and represent that you: 1) are at least 18 years of age and otherwise legally competent to read, understand and accept the provisions of this agreement on behalf of yourself; 2) are at least 18 years of age and otherwise legally competent to read, understand and accept the provisions of this agreement on behalf of yourself and a minor age 13-17 for whom you are legally permitted to allow access to the Game; or 3) are a minor age 13-17 that has been authorized to click "I ACCEPT" under the provisions of Section 9(c) below. YOU ARE HEREBY FOREWARNED THAT NCSOFT MAY, IN ITS SOLE AND ABSOLUTE DISCRETION, EXERCISE ITS SECTION 3(c) RIGHT TO TERMINATE BASED ON FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE CRITERIA ABOVE."
As for your link, it is outdated (December 19th, 2003) and pertains to a game that is hosted in CHINA and mostly likely lead to the inclusion to the "NCCoins has no monetary value" clause in the EULA to protect NCSoft from being sued for dissatisfaction of service and demanding refunds.
No monetary value, no refunds, no gamble. And, don't expect NCSoft to change the EULA unless it's to "cover their butts".

If you dont want bots you can't give free accounts the option to make much money. You really cant have both.
Even with sophisticated bot detection, it is hard to autpmatically detect a bot program that uses pixels to makes its decisions rather than packets.
