The previous 11th Anniversary event, I had to buy the 11th coins
($600 USD I spent) and played the game for 5 days....
OMG....5 days = enough time to make a new Level 85 Character.
For this Abundance Talisman promo I've spent the 24,000 Ncoins
and here is the result.
I got 8 x Abundance
= 1 x outlaw, 2 x slaughter,
+ 5 x minor Abundance(which I made 1 x Conquerer)
1 x Bottle of Valakas
and 15 x random minor rewards (2 x Elcyum, Tempest stone, 30 x Rgems..etc)
Personally, I think I both liked this store promo and didn't like it at the same time...a mixed feeling..
I liked it cuz instead of Scratching 100 x $1 Instant scratch Lottery
tickets(OMG..takes too long like 11th Anniversary piero box event)
I was allowed to play 5 x $20 tickets with good winning chances...
and it took only 2 minutes to spend $300 !!! Thank you NC soft!

Sadly...I also disliked the promos like this cuz I could see how it's
destroying the game...
I heard So many people shouting at Giran(level 85+ for shout)
and world chat(LvL95+) telling everyone they've lost the fun
of playing this game and how disappointed they were..
Some said they would leave this game..etc..etc...
-their point being...when there is unbalance in the game,
NC should fix the unbalance by updates and patch...not by selling items
to bring balance to the game...making users pay lots of money...
But hey!...someone's gotta Pay the NC soft too...They have families to support!
When we work so hard and spend a long time to get an item like
Longing Talisman, or Boss Jewels(Ant queen, Baium..etc.)
and finally get them in game...we get that Great sense of achievement;
and because getting those items are not so easy,
people who get them finally after long hard work, out-shines the others.
Sadly...Store Promos like this kills that sense of achievement.
Any newbie(such as myself) can just pay money to get whatever
available in Game...
I just hope NC alternates events...

followed by
1 x 2 week event for people who pay...

I like this event. As some one else already said in another thread, at least you can be pretty sure you are going to get something decent if you open 8 boxes ($100). I bought 12 boxes the first day of event. Rather than open all of them I sold 11 @350m; 3.85 bil. I opened the last one and got lucky with a tactics talisman. Using that adena I was able to make 2x mid talismans (hunter / conquerer) and still have roughly a bil left over.
I'll do the same thing again around the 15th and hopefully have enough to make the other two mid grade talis. If the price has dropped on boxes I'll just open them and see what happens. Either way I am pretty confident that I can get my hands on all 4 of the mid level talismans then I will just take my time saving enough adena/items to upgrade.
I love how this event is causing deflation in the market. Gear has been extremely overpriced for a long time now. It's also taking a lot of adena out of the game.

Truly Free is drawing a lot of old players and new people to this game

but most of them, they quit around mid-level 70s for the obvious reason.
I think there is the balance point where most people are comfortable
enough to pay ($50-$100); but at the moment NC is losing people
faster than gaining...They've gone too far~
I think it's better to have $50 x 100,000 people than $500 x 1000 people
$5,000,000 >> $500,000 a month.
NC should adjust the cash events so that the game population
starts to grow and a lot of people feel comfortable
enough to play it; but most of ALL!
Their main concern should be making the game FUN!

but as for now...LOL...it's not so easy to hold back the temptation...
The main problem is that these items are (depending on which) either lots of small boosts, or some very big boosts.
All other things being equal (level, gear, AP, skill OE, player skill...assisted or otherwise), the one with these items will win the vast majority of the fights, if not all of them.
And then when you have people who can spend massive amounts of adena without spending a dime, they are going to have these stacked advantages you cannot get via any other means than the NCstore.
People here are competitive, and NC knows this and exploits it. Anyone that wants to be a real Oly (and sometimes even outside PvP) contender basically has no chance but to shell out on these events one way or another.

and thats why im happy i quit at one point, yes l2 has amazing PvP system etc.
but amount of money / time (if u wanna buy crap with adena u have to put up tons of bots to keep up with new crap) this game requires from you in order to stay on top is insane. i dont miss that at all.
then when u think about PvP its all cool but then u get slapped in the face by fact that even PvP has been taken over by bots ull feel good u have quit :D

This game is 11 year old and was amortized long, very long time ago. (even the updates for the next 50 year). While you feed this circus there are lots of good indie programers out there that don't get to the end of the month.
When we work so hard and spend a long time to get an item like

This is not an event, and as I read somewhere, NO, you are not donating to this company, they are selling gamble ítems inside a game for real money.

You use bots--> NC nerf the adena/drops --> people leave because of bots --> the people that still bot (I mean play) use bots even on sieges because they don't have enouth people --> more people leave ----> NC nerfed even more ---> more bots to the ecuation ---> more people leave ---> NC introduce the real money "events" ---> some newbies get into the net and feed the circus and some more leave

If you think the current state of the game is directly because of bots then you're pretty stupid. I've been playing this game for 10 years now, when I started there were more bots than there are currently, but there were also more players.
People didn't begin botting in siege/pvp due to lack of people, people started botting in siege/pvp because they can, once one player does it then others start to to keep up and win. The only time I've seen people not driven to bot was during GoD launch, when XP was reasonably easy and people could farm their own items.... people also didn't buy from the ncstore as much as they do now though.
Most of the current issues are due to greed, bad game development (some in an attempt to counter bots, many not), bad support and just general goal of short term gains over longevity for the game. L2 is hanging on by a thread, it's an old product with low revenue. I imagine all of the good developers have been moved to better performing products.

i agree about the fact better developers may be moved to more reliable franchise like blade and soul or guild wars 2 but the fact of games be old means a almost nothing, world of warcraft is more older and still is live as never, even with the fall of subscribers on the begning of the year, so a old game can be good with good managent behind it, the fact ppl leave its bcus the game dont offer a good interaction with ppl on the begning.If you play a new charater with a perscpective of a new player putting aside the bot problem you will see that the game rush too fast on the early lvls, lacking a more immersion on the l2 enviroment, almost erasing part of the content the game build over the years, why not make a storyline quest envolving queen ant, baium, zaken, freya etc... the kekropus quest are rlly superficial and vague, and the leveling processing rlly boring, when you play almost like a bot, killing hordes of mobs for a goal not so clear.
so its true that the bots isnt the bigger prob of the game.

i hate questing i dont wanna run from quest npc to X mobs and kill a **** low amount of mobs that actual travel time between mobs and npc is longer then the time it took me to kill them.
now im not fan of l2 quest also cus i simply dont like to be told what to kill and where to xp and how many to kill.
if wanna kill without any quest, and this particular thing always made me feel good > kill mobs in HORDES and then find out u managed to get a full drop :D didnt care what it was just felt good knowning that it never happends in l2.
l2 is good in many ways but ***** hard by ncsoft/west it self they simply have ditched this game and is now being used as a milk cow, none of the staff members give a **** in what state this game is. which is sad but tru.
the prob is not kill many mobs, the prob is that in the quest of l2( at least the dailys) are rlly poor, and they do not give some pratical item for you.Ok you get some ingredients but any new player wont know what to do with it, the game dont explain the value of theses things or have a mechanic to make use of these igredients. few ppl would now they could trade some of these igredients with the aden npc in giran for boxes.So why make quest without a goal or thruly reward, you probaly will be more happier if theses quest gives anything more useful for you for example instead of igredients why not give a red soul crystal stage 8 for you implement a special ability on your wepaon or medals for you trade for better equipament to your lvl,why not make all the game , from start to the end a nice and immerse expirience, the game only start at 85, and the ture action only happens on 99 so the others 85 levels behind are nothing?

Nobody said you needed to spend 400 dollars on these tailsmens. A hunter or outlaw tailsmen would be MORE than capable, and you could have obtained that for LESS than 100 dollars. Outside of the hunter, level 3/4 brooch jewels, and the FREE boss jewels ncsoft was giving out, there hasn't been anything you NEEDED to ebay. The shirts were nice, you could get a +6 shirt for like 50 dollars.
On the topic of getting your moneys worth, most gamers play games for a large portion of their free time. Lets say you spend 20 hours in game in the next three weeks, you're 100 dollars for the hunter tailsmen is now a rather good value for the money invested. You cant buy new clothes every week (Unless you want 5x outfits you can wear each day) and a fancy night at a restaurant is something I imagine you do once a week, or once every other week.
I feel I really got my money's worth. No losses here. I will definitely buy 0 of these again!
As a side effect of the 0 boxes I opened, I was also able to pay all my bills, go shopping, eat out a few times this week, and got my woman a nice anniversary gift. Oh, and I also bought a few new outfits to wear, since I get out of the house and do things.

L2 is a grind game, the core mechanics are repetitively clicking buttons and hoping for a random reward. Getting armour and weapons was a heavily random affair with recipes coming at random from quests and 60% chance crafts.... this draws in certain types of players, ones with addictive personalities.
Rationally there is no reason to make such large purchases on a game, but the majority of purchases are impulse gambling purchases and aren't rational. That's why people get so upset and feel so conned. It doesn't stop either, over the past 8 months there's only been about 1 week where there hasn't been an impulse gambling event on.
The other factor in the above is that there's simply nothing to hunt for in game at the moment. The only rewarding areas such as Gainak, Raids or Dragons only support a very small number of people and are highly contested by bots. The game economy is also completely screwed due to multiple events and money sinks, no one has adena, no mid or low level gear is selling yet endgame gear is still at insanely high prices. You want adena you have to pay $$.

Certain aspects of the game are definitely a grind game, but the before part of your craft scenario used to be accompanied by xping for hours on end to get recipes / mats long before you even got to click. It wasn't quick, there was little impulsive about it, and it was often times very bland.
I cant comment on the addictiveness or the rash impulsive decisions people make during events, because I'm simply not them. I find I'm very rational when I'm sitting at my computer, relaxed, with some good music on. However like I said above, nothing else was needed other than those 4 sets of items, and in fact those 4 key items I listed give you everything you could hope for (Other than pvp armor) and that's been in the last 1.5 years.
Obviously they will throw in some gambling events, GET A LINDIVOR, PLAY THE WHEEL. You're not conned into them, you just need to look past them. Do you win pvps without a lindivor? Did you get level 100 without a lindivor? All good reasons NOT to throw 400 dollars at a stupid wheel, and instead go out to dinner and sit that "event" out. Maybe I'm forgetting what other events there has been because I dont play them =/
I don't know how chronos is currently but there's lots to fight for, and you listed them. Dragons and other raids (Lilith/anakim) are probably your best bet in making adena or earning gear. Participate, organize it if you must, but I doubt the traditional "bots" are killing lindivor over there. Kelbim is spawning now, didn't your clan get the first one? You could farm AQ or attempt to take it over (Not sure whos killing it) and sell the rings. The adena drop is terrible, that's why the above options are feasible and a good route. Adena stocks are drying up and item prices should be going down, but I don't see the harm in buying adena when you would blindly throw money at a stupid ncoin event. Both could even be considered impulsive if you found something you wanted on the AH, and then impulse bought the adena to get it. There are lots of people buying adena, they're just to ashamed to tell you :D

Let's be honest, If I were going to throw in a wad of real money, why would I do it on a "maybe"? The way L2 has been paying out their "chance" items... I wouldn't walk to an adena seller, I'd run to one. Keep in mind, this is if I MUST have an item for my own cash. I haven't gotten squat from any of L2's events. Nothing. But on the contrary, if I were to buy a nice fat sack of adena, I'm guaranteed to get an item that I want.
Just saying. There's a reason why those spammers won't quit. The income is just too **** good. Cuz ppl are thinking like I just stated above. And they're right.
NC needs the weak willed, addictive personalities. This is an online casino.
