So I'm back in game attempting to level my 92 Eva's Templar. And am abit stuck on how I should do that :/
I am doing K90, Fortuna (cos this is one of the few things that *require* a tank), kimerian (quick 3min 140m xp), then fairies...
Fairies seem abit slow, especially compared to DDs, who can clear a small spot in less than 1 min, while I'm there spamming my AoEs (With challenge aura + wizard's harmony for faster CD) for a couple minutes and cacoons respawn way before I can clear :/
What should I be doing instead? Or is fairies already the best I can do?
Stick to that place, as it's the best you can do for now, in your level range. But first, make sure you have a decent apolypse weapon (cutter), or at least a blessed requiem, with minimal of 240+ element on it. Apart from water and earth, any element would be good. About armor, you can change to attack type (if you do this type of solo xp alot, not good for parties, thou) and get at least 3 parts enhanced for earth/water/dark defense. Again, you'll need at least a +3 TW or a ++ Immo heavy to get along.
You r beyond the level for newbie buffs, then you must have an boxed Iss for full time sonatas and level 2 buffs. That's the 2nd must.
If you have none, get the oly jewels (ring and necklace), as they r cheap and easy to get and lasts for 60d. Obviously, they r only good for PvE grind, so it's a no no for anything else, specially PvP (although I doubt you r facing that much of pvp in your level range, anyway).
From Timiniel, making right after the entrance and going up straight after the first Boss location, you'll find some nice niches with 3, 4 or 5 big coccons agrouped. Stick to it if there's no one already there and start only doing aoe right and left, up and down. Buff yourself with warrior, forget wizard. In order, priorize to kill first the Coccons Destroyers and the brutal fairies (cuz they hurt pretty bad when crowded), and try to always pull the wizard fayries, that hit by far. Keep the maximum of mobs on top of you always, remebering to break the coccons as soon as they respawn again. Dont care to try to clean the area: many mobs you have, better. Keep attention and pick herbs when you need (less than 30% mp or 50% hp, ie) and watch if the other mobs around you r dying for aoe, regularly. If so (and they must), keep it up.
Keep going spamming hate and aoe till you get bored, what will be pretty fast. Only pick important drops (enchants, armor/weapon parts, materials, instance items), leave the adena.
While your aoe is on cd, just autohit the big or any mob, and aoe as soon as your skills r up again. The only downside is that anyone can try to disrupt your xp grind, 'cuz you'll be a easy to flag character. If you do have Disparition, then keep it to use in occasions like this and good luck.
As @Aconyte already pointed in one of his posts, a good way to grind is to do it during the CoC time: you join CoC, get out with 5min powerful buffs and then pew pew till next wave. It's totally doable, it's useful and costs you nothing but patience for that ppl that stays all long in the arena doing nothing but babling and gnashing in TS while waiting to time to run out.
So, to sum it up: K90 group > K90 solo > Kimerian (both) > Spezion (if you can get a quicky party to it, if not, forget about. Same goes for Fortuna, screw it.). If you find or have clan that does open grind xp, then you can try any party for SH3 or SoA Bistakon (and I'm talking about serious xp grind, like 4h+ with a solid party). If not, then turns to all above, put some music on, get a bottle of water, tighten your legs and be it.
Thanks for advice, I have a +3 apoc cutter with 150 water, I will change the ele on it and see if it helps.
I also have +3 tw heavy set with almost full element, so I don't take much damage from the fairies even when I aggro all the mobs from 5-6 cacoons, as long as I spam my aoes to leech HP back. I do use my chain to pull mobs to me.
I opted for wizard for lower cooldowns for my aoes, as shaves off ~1.2s out of ~6s after buffs.
I guess I'll need to level my boxed iss to 88 for lvl 2 buffs.
popolus not to discourage you but unless you find a group of very good friends or dedicated constant party by the time you're 99 you will never ever see lvl 101 as tanks are just not wanted/needed after 99..
I may sound harsh there but I'm actually one of the very few tanks that will hit 101+ but am very aware of how I'm getting there and how not everyone has access to such extensive high level end game players on friendlist nor are willing to always pop max XP boost nc store items when ever I go XP..
save to say it's a hard long and somewhat expensive road ahead for any serious tank player

Can you tell me the reason tanks don't get parties after 99? Is it because DDs don't take much damage anymore?
That's just.... sad.... How about an archer instead of a feoh? Since I have one already
No its not sad, it is a real answer.
Soloing is not a practical option unless you are unemployed and spend your welfare checks to support inefficient leveling.
Make a 3 man group, buy ncoin to multiply your xp and put a hero 2h retributor on your nuker (90 hero coins for a month of weapons using NGBSPS) and get 101 in a realistic timeframe (2-3 months). If you don't do this you will fall into the same trap the majority of the complainers who post here have and will stay low 9x forever.

Also why overlord? Would a heirophant work?
edit: I think I know why now, for out of party buffs...

One more question.... Why Feoh? What about a dreadnought (I have one already leveled)? Or Yul?

Because Snare is overpowered and nuking effectively at your level doesnt require an immense investment.
Further You are trying to plvl your tank and tanks can CC.
Overlord is the best iss to support nukers since all their seals can be enchanted for -MDEF and they stack. if you arent going to actively play it you can probably just use it oop.
Finally there is a trick to casting shadow snare by which you can make your l2 client remember the location of the snare so you dont need to manually place it over and over. I dont remember exactly what the method was but it was along the lines of putting snare in a shortcut, casting the snare via the shortcut once and then you just had to spam the snare button to have it recast on the same spot.
At this point you can jam a quarter in your keyboard with token assist/snare/nuke macro on a 2nd pc and then play your tank live picking targets with tokens. Alternatively for better dps and control you can just park your tank as a leech and play the ISS picking targets and doing mass cripple using the above quarter method!
You said a feoh but you didn't said where exactly to go with them - afaik to 95 or maybe 96 a fairies is a way to go, then after this? Since feoh requires many mobs - blazing swamp, cemetery near SoS? :) Is it faster than good AoE DD at pagans soloing 2 rooms?
Just wondering since I have a feoh too and I want to sooner or later lvl her up with some usefull class too (only 18 Birthday pots to go :p). I have a feoh archmage with pre-awakened toggle (arcane power - Maximizes magic efficiency by increasing M. Atk. by 30% and MP Consumption by 10%. Every second, 50 HP is consumed.) so similiar to empowering echo but with archmage aoe with -% on mdef on mobs.
Ah and what about a weapon? You suggest hero weapon. Is it better than any retri with 300 ele?
What about shadow buster for example with +100 crit rate for magic? :) Ofc at +7 since the prices for shadow weps with ingots are from space atm.
I think the note about hero wep was for the cheaper blessed spiritshots. If adena for shots is not a big thing for you, by all means use a 300 elemented weapon, or even a shadow weapon that you element.
I dont have the mage weapons handy (Deleted mine already) but the raw MATK on them is also ridiculous.
Given the raw patk/matk + sa's on these weapons the temporary hero weapons provide a superior proposition for people who need a good pve and open pvp weapon. Only the most elite (Dark/Bloody/OE/Augment) of R99 weapons are going exceed the raw output of this weapon and consider the cost of such a weapon vs. 90 hero coin. Btw element does not double your damage, IIRC vs. something with 0 resist you only had maybe 25-30% more damage. I think element is nicely covered by the significant patk/matk difference.
Using NCWests model :
Use NCOIN to buy XP items and obtain Hero Coins.
Use Hero Coins to buy superior weapons to accelerate your XP.
Juji or his helpers should conduct a test to evaluate the performance of using Hero Coin Limited Hero Weapons performance pvp/pve vs. OE'd Standard/Blessed/Dark/Bloody weapons so people know when it is the right time to use them and plan accordingly.
I kind of view the hero weapons as the next tier of steel guild weapons for 85+, the difference here is you use hero coins via the above model.
