Game Population

New people coming > Old people leaving = Server population grows

= more buy and sell of gears in Giran
= People are willing to spend adena
(or buy stuff from N-store to sell for adena) for gears cuz they know
they can sell them back later and get adena back.

New people coming < Old people leaving = Server populations decreases
= can't sell the gears for adena = can't upgrade or change gears
= hard to find parties for level, raid
= even more people leaving
= game dies.

Well, my point is that there is this invisible but definite point where
people coming = people leaving and at the moment..and it seems the game
is losing good players faster than gaining, which is really sad.

Even the high paying player such as myself, finds it so frustrating when
I try to sell something for adena...cuz there are simply not enough
Good high level players with adena..even the Dwarf shops in Giran
has decreased by 1/2 compared to 6 months ago...

So, I go buy more stuff from N-store which I sell for Adena to get
the gears that I want...
but to be honest...I don't know how long I wanna do this anymore...
(Before L2 I used to play Wow and $30 USD a month was all I needed
Kelthuzad, SoO raider)

Free to play is drawing new people into L2, this is for sure...but
most of them leave the game when they realize how much money
they have to spend to have decent gears...
Everything is available in N-store but to get them just by playing L2
is humanly impossible to them they feel...

On the other hand,
if Lineage2 Provides everything for free...I am sure it's gonna draw
lots and lots of people and eventually millions will play...but
NC will make NO MONEY-which is not good for business and this is NOT what I am asking.

The problem of N-store is...it keeps providing stuff that makes people
feel like they should buy them...usually hundreds of USD a month,
and people who don't...they usually leave the game without ever
spending any money for N-store.
New people are coming but they leave the game when they realize
how much money they need to spend, without ever shopping at N-store...
maybe...1 adena for Steel door coin(500) box.

The solution is balance I think...
Right now, everything is N-store oriented.
If the focus of L2 shifts from N-store to the actual L2 playing...
i.e. adena drop + item drop is normalized and Vitality items available
in the actual L2 game play, the server population will grow.

It seems N-store will lose profit at start, but as the server population grows, NC will have more and more potential good customers for N-store.

Don't kill the chicken laying an egg everyday!

Which is better?

Having a chicken meal just one time? or Getting an Egg everyday?

But those eggs can hatch and become more chickens and then...
more eggs...and more chickens!!!
and eventually, you can have chicken + egg everyday!
maybe for every meal~~~and if you trade those chickens and eggs,
you can even get steaks + beer for every meal!

Make everything available in the actual L2 game play,
more people will come!
and then...slowly offer cheap but good stuff from N-store...
then more and more...I am sure NC can be really good at this. LOL

P.S. I'd like to have my 100 billion adena now, please~
Notice, I am not asking 1 million USD! LOL

100 billion adena = costs nothing

Just type 100,000,000,000 into server computer... just an electronic
data that has no value...(they say so..on the Log-In message)
why to stop milking the cow when the cow is dumb as a lamb ?

more people are leaving than others are comming
and when i get some hi5 or kamael player here at 95+ i`d break my KB into 105 pieces from explaining those noobs how they should play

the system is just broken, nobody will change that
"Most" new players don't make it past lvl 70, they follow the quest guide and when they hit the "Wall of Bots" quest they log off and never show up again.

I can't count the number of new players I have mentored that never made it past lvl 70.
The "new" players are actually old players who has never grown past "Interlude", "Hi5", or "Freya". They always say "I've been playing L2 since blah blah blah" and in their minds, it's the truth. They never played on the official servers. They played on the private servers, which is stuck in time (no updates), no bots, interactive and always available GMs ready to reward the players for being players on their server, and jaded to hate the "donation system". They start to play on the official servers, they have years of content shoved down their throats, plenty of bots, and hating the NCStore because it reminds them of the "donation system". They start to post complaints on the official forums about how the server doesn't have a daily event for free gear and the how bots are running around making their gaming experience crappy. When they realize that they can't get the GM's attention for their problems, they quit and go back to the private servers.

There are no new players, just fans who want things to go back to when it was fun to play the game and old players who eventually quit to go play something else or something that is not the official servers. I forsee Chronos and Naia becoming like Shilen, Magmeld, and Bartz 2.0 in 12 months.
new players= a good thing

wonder how ncwest handles this topic in their "board/staff" meetings?
The cash shop I knew would determine this game as soon as the announcement was made. My problem is that I won't blow endless amounts of money for leveling faster and affording gear. The game really doesn't support players looking to just play and not spend any money. It can be done, but it's a lot of time and slim luck.

Bots sadly keep the flow of items going. I remember years ago when there was a ban hammer, all base mats shot up in price on chronos because bots had been banned. So thus weapons and armor prices went up. The base mats needed to make high grade mats became in short supply on the server due to bans. Spoil only hard to get items became a lot less available too. So love or hate item farmers, the fact is they do keep the items flowing on the server which most people don't get enough of or hoard what they have. Does it make it right...no, just shows you how broke the system is.
I quit too... 3 years of playing, just now got some normal gear because of my luck at Eleveny event.Found a lot of friends was fun, but too much robots, donators, too expensive game and takes too much time of our short life when you do it legit and without VISA POWER to make something. Maybe when i got bored in the real life i may again lose my mind in NCWest, but i don't think so, XA ! There is other servers where you can experience the game at maximum for extremely short time.

The Winter is coming and NCwest has a new project with promise to be "Free to play" and not "Pay to win" Imagine ! XAxaxa That is unbelieveble, until we see it. Let's hope it's true.
I would keep playing this game if posting on the forums wouldn't require me to verify my ip every mother!@#$ time.
they should bring back somethings like xp spot where u actually can get parts to Craft item and get gears to have some more market and also make those Dark stone/bloody stone drops from more spots so ppl can actually get darks set and be more competitive,

most clan are pve now bcz no one has gear to compete in pvp clan, it's not even their choice, they wanna pvp but they can't and that's sad.

And also for events, make 1/2 Event that u actually have to kill event monster somewhere, or make something fun for everyone...

anyways that's what i think.

Right, because killing an event monster worked out for the non-botters in the past events. In addition, what's to stop the bots from killing an event raid boss if it has a raidboss drop pool? The GM's? Here is a scenario for you: Bots kill the event boss, get the drops, actually get investigated (which we all know takes a lot of time), sell the drop to some unsuspecting player, eventually get banned by the GM, the GM take time to find the dropped item to get it removed, the unsuspecting player loses out. YAY the system still sucks.
Somewhere I think the main issue is with the players and not with the NCsoft.

Its enough to watch the whole video game world.

When nowadays under development such hardcore games like Lineage II, Lineage, Ninja Gaiden, Contra, Double Dragon 3, Battletoads, Heroes of Might & Magic 1-2-3, Baldur's Gate etc.

If you look the World of Warcraft, 90% of the existing playerbase cry, because it became a totally casual game, nothing hardcore in it.
You can buy instant lvl 90 there and etc.
Under 3 months they lost 30% of their population.

I meet in my clan many different people returners new comer etc. But many of them, just want, that the clan pwlvl them and give them gear (ofc there is many true players too who, go to farm and don't cry).

One of main reason, why I play Lineage 2 is, that I know, if I login everyday through a year and example farm 5 hours per day. I will have still things to do a year later too.

But if I would example login to one of newest MMO, I would be under a week max level and in full gear with daily 5 hours play time. Its a crap, if I pay for an MMO and spend time with it, the minimum what I wait from it, that be enough interesting and hard to keep me in its world under long time.
This game won't get anywhere until they start selling XP or allows us to have bots.
Coming to the L2 Galleria... Spend NCoin to pay Korean children to play on our servers.
My reason for quitting, is there's no limits. You hit max level, they raise or remove the cap. You get armors or weps, then you + it, augment it, element it, pvp/pve it... I mean holy hell. You get jewelry, same thing...talismans, head gear, tattoos, potions for this potions for that...capes, skills, brooches...omfg. Problem is, there's no end. And just when you spent as much money as you could to get to the "end", they add more crap! There's no "max" anything anymore in essence if you think about it. There's always that extra little something you just have to get to better your character in a world that's so overflowing with crap you can't really enjoy it. And any new player would be confused out of their friggen mind to the point they'll either go broke trying to catch up (which they never will), or quit because it seems pointless.

There really just needs to be some realistic limits set. Less "goodies", and more content. Get rid of all this extra garbage, and just make "pay to enter" dungeons etc if you must soak us for our paychecks.

Either way, like my sig says...game just got too ridiculous.

I think this is a good thing. There should always be something for you to
strive for in the game.

The problem is most people "Want It all Now" so they will spend thousands
of dollars just to get it now.....all just so they can be a top dog. lol

Alot of people quit games because of just the opposite reason:
They hit max lvl, got all the gear, there is nothing else left to strive for so
they quit.

I couldn't have put this better myself. Ever since the patch I've not even bothered to train up my skills and passed on anything useful to an academy toon. If you have the time and money go ahead and spend your money and time any way you wish. Meanwhile, I'll have a clear credit card with no NCcoin items on it.

I agree with you. Back in time we had patience to farm and to wait, till we get something.
But many players nowadays just do not have patience at all.

Another MMOs made the players lazy as I did say before, thats why the players can't find their place so easier in harder MMOs like L2.

Also it is good too if you have always something what u can still upgrade.
But example between a 3x120 attri r99 set +3 and a 3x120 attri r99 set +6, not big difference, but you can be PIMPer with +6:D same with Hellfire versus Longing talismans
Pay to Win is an issue for many games. It gets very sloppy when exp rates exceed 200% or equipment is unbalanced.

L2 has unique bot issues though that affects the market dramatically. The original Asheron's Call had quite a few bots, but overall not many games have this problem.

So new players are not faced with an issue of other games being less automated they get to play games without bots entirely or an old one totally infested.

That 70 range introduces quests that are nearly impossible to do along with an eye opener that the game is nearly dead. Almost every account is a bot. There are entire dungeons and areas without any real players.

Compare that to the rift experience, where I don't recall seeing any cheating. D&D Online, etc etc.

That still doesn't excuse the ridiculous prices though.

Furthermore, you get that nice feeling that nothing you do in game matters. No matter how hardcore you play the bots and paid advantage will crush everything.

The in game economy is based up the total server kills. While the actual players may kill 12,000,000 mobs a day, the bots will kill 4,400,000,000 altering the market.

What is your drop and adena worth? Well according to the games economy your effort is useless. It could have just been easily done by a bot instead.

It essentially means if you ignore the bot your still screwed by the economy. Want to sell that rare item it took you hours or days to get? It would have value in a real market, but in this crap fest it's simply not worth anything.

There is no distinction between your items and bot items.
