Well, we had already some time since the last update so why not an open discussion about our current Olys performance. Also looking for tips from more experienced players ^^
Which are the harder classes to face?
Which are the ones you win most of the time?
What buff configuration do you use for Olys?
As I'm far away (like lightyears) from the end-game, I mostly use the Olys to farm some GEs and Marks, but also try to compete, improve my PvP skills and get some fun. Most winged 99+ just pop me, I'm able to defeat some in-between 99 and 95 and win most of the fights against 94 and below, so I can go from 4/10 to 7/10 depending on my rivals. Usually even using an offensive set-up (Rage Aura, Warrior, Horn, Drum, Guitar and Lute (should drop the last for Organ I guess)) to speed up both wins and loses
I had good times against daggers (even defeat a 99 because she shadow-suicide against my UD xD), until I faced an attack/perma-hide one. Just found no response
Some tyrrs give me some trouble, and most of the times it's a gear-oriented battle. The same for tank vs tank battles, if they are better-geared and I couldn't win after my Frenzy, it's almost gg
Other not undergeared supports are almost impossible for me to kill. Both Iss and Healers are a pain in the bottom unless they are 90-
I haven't face enough Summoners to make a proper strategy. I'm not always sure if I have to go 100% against the char
As for Feohs/Yuls it's a mix experience depending of how badly they can hit me. If I can endure enough and chain/stun them properly I can do the job
What are your thoughts from the past and present month?
well i only played Olympiads the first month after the update, and was almost the same as before the update, but every one was tougher so the damage drop even more (i mean every1 have more def, and skills enchant don't give skill power anymore).
before the update i had many troubles against daggers, not any dagger but any with enough reflect protection and/or good reflexes/scripts/brain to not hit me while i have some ud... after update it seems i can survive a lot more against them...
archers seems to hit harder than before but its almost the same experience...
for the rest it feels the same to me, i just need to be aware of my mana since cost enchant is not there anymore...
1-for me the harder classes to face are saha seers, warcryer, healers, summoners
2-the ones i won the most pre-update were archers and tanks(while they don't surpass me too much on equipment) (don't count hellknights with reflect, they are the most difficult on tank vs tank if you dont have good reflect protection or dont surpass them on equipment(you need to just NOT DO AOEs to not hit the panther))
post-update i only played 1 month so can't really tell you (plus not enough ppl on magmeld XD)
3- the buffs i use are horn,drum,harp,lute bless body/mental (items) reflect(aug)
against physicals always knight harmony, against magical wizard harmony.
sometimes if i know the enemy dont hit too hard i use wizard against physicals too (for the clarity an cdr effects)
(i used to replace lute for guitar against wyrn or some tyrs/healers, but since got my +6 armor i don't remember if i used it again)
-against tyrs who have better gear than me, only thing i do is Hit And Run XD try to attack only with spike shield, when they are on berserk/guts/or frenzy try to not get hits they are almost immune to debuff whit this so just don't try to debuff them, concentrate on don't get caught, or use your ud to reflect some damage, but remember they can use their #$%& 2 times and you only 1 so use it wisely XD
-against tanks with better gear is almost the same, not so dangerous, but is harder to coordinate, you need to be aware of their cubic and spike shield buff, try to attack only when their buff is down and land stun or paralyze and then hit them 2 or 3 times then run again. IF they use some ud before you, try to run and dont get too much hits try to save your own uds for later (DON'T HIT THEM ON ULTIMATE UD)
So far I've found sigels are very strong in Oly, ofcourse against gold wings it's alot tougher, but I can hold my own against them for a bit at least.
I think your buffs are incorrect, as tanks win alot of matches through endurance. I actually take Pipe organ ASAP when I enter the arena, and I get healed up after ~2s of entering, I always take Knight harmony (cos I'm too lazy to found out their class). I have beaten a bunch of gold wings with that tactic... It's boring for them :P but I get the win hehehe
If the arena is one with obstacles, it's actually to your advantage. You deal as much damage as you can while UD is on, then hide around pillars, and hope they don't catch you and deal a tonne of damage, until time runs out and you win on damage :P
Against classes that you *know* have little HP, you can try to use your reflects to your advantage, I have beaten a gold winged yul in a prominent clan (i.e. geared well) using this tactic: I turtle with UD, deal as much damage as I can, then as it runs out, if he is wailing on me with skills, I pop spike shield (15% reflect, 10s), endurance (relevation skill - 50% reflect, 5s), and I have my inherent 10% reflect from armour mastery, and it all adds up to 75% reflect.... If I was 99 and had the AP I can enhance my endurance buff to 7s. I could also try to get reflect passive/active augments to make it even stronger. I ended up beating that gold wing yul with ~2k hp.
It's abit weird, but like Dingel said above, running away is sometimes the best option.
I have also beaten most sahya seers so far, maybe the ones I met just don't know how to play well, or low level, or bad gear. They are very squishy, and to hinder their hide, you should hide in the entrance, use the corners to block their jumping path, if it's an entrance with a shallow corner, move between the two sides randomly to try to throw them off, first skill to use when they appear is aoe stun, if that don't land, use other stun, then *use damage skill only*, melee stuns are notoriously easy to break on damage taken, your skills do most of your damage so you don't want a 200dmg normal swing to break the stun :P
The smart high DPS characters would've put alot more effort into their defences, in which case, you're pretty screwed :P if you can't do enough damage while in UD, your reflects will not be enough to take them down.
If opponent has hide/frenzy, don't use UD right off the bat. Also be aware of opponents that have cancel... UD is supposed to be 80% buff resistant, but there's always that 20% that will completely ruin your match :P
Also if you see opponent doing a big cast, or running away to heal, try to use your chains to interrupt
right, if you are not 99 u could need every single point of hp to survive sometimes. since i use bless body from "staff of evil spirits" the difference with pipe is not so much. for me what is more precious from pipe organ, could be mp bonus...
but my ping/pc don't let me do that, my screen usually is blank for more than 2s after entering the arena so i just never try to do it
