Forums Being Spammed

Looks like these forums have been hacked or something. I'm seeing Korean everywhere. Wth is going on with NC these days? It's enough that we have enough to tolerate "stuff" going on in game, now it seems these forums are under attack.
yeah i think bots are now even on forums!! XD

This forum is not being hacked, it just has insuffient protection. A simple security question on account creation, like for example "Who was the 5th president of the USA" (changing to 4th president, 8th president etc. on a weekly/daily/hourly basis), would put a stop to most of the spam, and it would have the additional advantage of keeping out the dumbest players. But precisely because of this, NCWest will not implement such a measure. Greed prevents them from limiting their potential customer base :D
Buster Casey is all the protection we need. Every time I call him out I get an infraction. Makes him feel 6 feet tall. It's all good, I'll be the sacrificial lamb. Meanwhile, spammers are everywhere, and bots are running freely.

Actually, I don't think Yidao is from US....
That's right. I am a Shanghai resident with German passport :)

As to the president, the question might as well be "Who was the first Slovakian president after the separation from the Czech Republic". Anything that can be found with a little googling. And people who are not able to find out who Michal Kováč was should really not play this game. Consider the security question as a kind of entry examination ;)

Exactly...it's not about being a history buff... it's about having the common sense to know which resource to tap to get the information you need. Everyone here has a pc and internet. That's a given. With that being said, everyone here also has access to information limited only by your own curiosity and self motivation. ... Agreed though, a question that requires that much investigation may not be the best choice for a forum login.....maybe a simple multiple choice question ie: what's 1+3? A. 2 B. 4 C. 9 D. all of the above...or something to that effect.

Or we can just resort to name calling and anger, and show who the real "ignorant btards" are.
Hey everyone,

I know the spam has been a problem recently and it's something I've been working to get a handle on. However, making threads about the spam really is just spam itself and only adds to the pile.

That's interesting you bring this up because on we would get complaints from players that have to verify their IP constantly on the website every time something changes on their end. Low security, more security, no security-- there is no winning here. :p

As for the spam, we're not under attack. We're cleaning the spam as quickly as they come up. We're hoping they get the picture of that no matter how much they spam, they won't win.

Just remember not to click on any of the spam links because they are trying to phish your account.
