Sometimes I ask myself the question, "Why do I play this game?" This question suddenly became more clear to me when somebody in game offered me Power Leveling 95-99 in 3 days... It made me think about a point...'If I use money to buy all the gears, and LeveL 99, what's the point in playing this game? Why do I play?'
I remember 10 years ago, I played Level 20-26 Scavenger for like 3 months, just to spoil 'animal bones' to make 10 Million Adena to buy 'Crystal Dagger C-grade.' My scavenger was leveling too fast for the hunting Zone, so I leveled down the scavenger by attacking the Town Guard, just so I could continue spoiling until I got 25,000 x Animal Bones...It was slow..but Gave me a great sense of achievement when I got the dagger finally!
Fun = Sense of Achievement
This is what I think now. I just spent money to get all the gears that I want from Lineage2(by selling Nstore Items) but to me, the game is not as fun as 10 years ago. By choosing to spend money to get gears, I've abandoned myself HALF the fun of playing this game. To me, the sense of achievement by getting the gears myself is gone...I declined the Easy Powerleveling cuz then...I'd Lose the other half...and would be left with 0 Fun...
Would it be possible to get Good enough Adena, Material drops like Before?
It feels like ever since Dwarf Classes(Warsmith & Scavenger) got Nuffed...L2 Lost Half the FUN.
I feel ya dawg. Nobody since GoD can really understand the sense of achievement in the ways it was back then. It was so hard to get stuff that nowadays ppl throw away. I remember feeling like I was on top of the world when I finally got my majestic heavy and dual dams +4 back in the day. Nowadays, achievement means spending enough coin to get that special item or skill or w/e. All spending coin gives me, is a nice dose of remorse.
The game's still entertaining in it's evolved way. It's not what it was...that's a fond memory, but I'm at a stage where I really wouldn't want to grind it out all over again for measly stuff.
Adapt or move on..........cherish the old memories.
How u can spend 1million ncoins and still be 97? :O U doing it wrong bruh just saying.
PS:How many kids on africa would u feed with 15k usd? Investing on this game doesnt seems really good at this point.
That's why I only limit myself to buying XP-related stuff... Even then, it's spoiled the game for me... I once got into an EV party and got plvled while I popped all the XP pots... Since then I don't feel like XPing "normally" anymore :x
p2win is ruining games all around the world, it's become more of a e-***** competition now, revolving around who is willing to spend more cash on the game.
Capitalism is screwing up the pureness of games... It used to be about how to solve problems, whether that be "where to XP?" "where/how to farm XXXX item?" "How do we take down this boss?" Nowadays, everything is *easy*, so easy that people get bored... and instead of making the game harder, the game offers a way (paying them) to make the game *even easier* so you feel like a god compared to everyone else.
So back then, your sense of achievement is from using your brain and spending time on it. Now the sense of achievement is artificially given to you even when you did absolutely nothing... It's the same as giving a "participating trophy" to all the kids who didn't win. We really need to get rid of "everyone is a winner" thinking....
Capitalism is screwing up the pureness of games...
That's pretty much the trend of games. I used to play Magic: The Gathering trading card game and then they sold the company to Hasbro, who starting pumping out new expansions of cards to buy. You'd end up with boxes of worthless, useless commons trying to get some of the new OP cards.
A company gets good, makes a name for themselves, then they just sell out and milk it for all it's worth. And it works because we complain, etc, but we still buy it!
As for Lineage 2, if you're looking to compete with other players, be ready to compete with their wallets dollar per dollar. It has always been this way, except now it's above-board with Ncoin, so it's not just the "bad" players doing it.
Sorry everyone if I sounded like overly sentimental, and thank you for your words of encouragement and advice. Yes, I agree...the game is no longer about problem solving, or achieving something meaningful by putting in some honest hard work no more, it has become so easy...All I gotta do is pay...just Money, Money, Money...
I feel kinda sad now, the game has an excellent base to have a really long run.
I mean when considering L2 was created like 11 years ago, it still looks good today; and I don't think there are any games out there as beautiful as L2, but...
i know few games much more beautiful than l2, few also with less grind, or others with more grind
at the end it`s not even about the paying user advantages
The biggest problem with the NCoin system is the imbalance it has created between the haves and have-nots. It's worse than real life because at least in real life I don't have to compete directly with millionaires.
the big difference with real life is that the rich guy controls your life, in the game you can farm other stuff and make money easier, then buy nccoins with adena
I miss the old days too, I just don't have fun playing anymore. Which is why I rarely play the game now.
I am actively paying attention to 4 game's attempt at bringing a classic server into the mix. It will be pay to play too and no item store! This will bring me back to L2. I like the struggle of the old days (C1-C4).
