I agree that buying gear/items has been going on for year, including when it was subscription based,
However a lot of the past 2 years of F2P/Game changes have killed the game. There's so much OP gear that on it's own makes a reasonabl, but small difference, but when stacked together makes a stacked toon like multiple unstacked parties fighting a raidboss.
Also with so much given away in events at random and drops removed from raids/hunting there's simply nothing for players to achieve in game apart from xp. I don't even look at drops from raidbosses anymore, let alone mobs. I used to do loads of raids with friends/clan, now there's just no point. Heck I don't even bother qith quest hand-ins anymore, they all give nothing.

Exp to 100 lvl now is easy without dollars. Just buy maphr and freya scrolls, it is cheap now. Also Maphr costs 20 daily coins and allow gain up to 75+ kkk exp in k95 duo. Ofc to do it duo u need a better equipment. But it possible. Also it depends on class u play.

There are 3 types of Free to Play gamers in L2
one is a casual Player (hopefully not a gimme gimme clan jumper)
The other is a Proud Non-Donator who buys Ncoin with Adena he gets from exploits
And the third are the RMT (real money traders) responsible for 80% of the bots and spam you encounter
the non-donator considers himself a pro L2 God
and is worried that the L2 player base can catch up to the cheating he has done for years.. with a Free 2 Play system
These L2 RMT could be in my opinion the best Hackers in the world (unstopable)
they have been here days before main stream release of this game. and maybe hours before this game was fully developed in Korea

second; free to play is ok for the company and isnt for the players, an athlete pratice/trains cos he likes the sport, sometimes if he can, he ll buy something that ll let him train better so he can improve himself (this is called "enter barrier", in our case the enter barrier was the subscripition, if u liked l2 u had to pay to play it). IF THE ATHLETE STARTS TO BUY STUFF TO WIN AT ALL COST, we called it DOPING, and DOPING is illegal, unethical, is CHEATING.
so we, the players before FRETOPLAY get this feeling, that those private players that came to ncwest are cheating, and ncwest promote this behavior, and this behavior has a name, and we call it: _PAY TO WIN.
third; bots were long gone in paytoplay time, since farm adena was an expensive thing to do, cos the gold sellers had to pay to farm(subscription), due to that, the price of adena in dollars went way too high, and they were banned all the time without selling this adena, cos not everyone could afford that, just google the price back there. the bots came massive after l2 went to FREE TO PLAY, the price of adena went too low, and 90% of the server are buying it thats for sure either by rmt or by ncstore and the ones whining on the forum everyday are the ones that doenst. the whining ppl gotta go to 3 different ways, some join the rmt or ncstore river, some quit and some keep trying waiting for something better in the future (thats why u get too many threads asking to improve drops/adena etc) till they do quit, since year after year nothing has change and the legits are just getting ****** by ncwest bot countermeasures.

why no juji ban bots?
let me put some knowledge in this thread, cos jesus, theres none here.
first of all; the first bot just appears in the end of 2006, name=superman l2 bot, and it took some time to beign popular. ncwest server just opened in 2004. after that, anyone with a little knowledge about l2 history/lore know what came next.
second; free to play is ok for the company and isnt for the players, an athlete pratice/trains cos he likes the sport, sometimes if he can, he ll buy something that ll let him train better so he can improve himself (this is called "enter barrier", in our case the enter barrier was the subscripition, if u liked l2 u had to pay to play it). IF THE ATHLETE STARTS TO BUY STUFF TO WIN AT ALL COST, we called it DOPING, and DOPING is illegal, unethical, is CHEATING.
so we, the players before FRETOPLAY get this feeling, that those private players that came to ncwest are cheating, and ncwest promote this behavior, and this behavior has a name, and we call it: _PAY TO WIN.
third; bots were long gone in paytoplay time, since farm adena was an expensive thing to do, cos the gold sellers had to pay to farm(subscription), due to that, the price of adena in dollars went way too high, and they were banned all the time without selling this adena, cos not everyone could afford that, just google the price back there. the bots came massive after l2 went to FREE TO PLAY, the price of adena went too low, and 90% of the server are buying it thats for sure either by rmt or by ncstore and the ones whining on the forum everyday are the ones that doenst. the whining ppl gotta go to 3 different ways, some join the rmt or ncstore river, some quit and some keep trying waiting for something better in the future (thats why u get too many threads asking to improve drops/adena etc) till they do quit, since year after year nothing has change and the legits are just getting ****** by ncwest bot countermeasures.
fourth; before free to play, player could get their adena fair and square, lots of stuff do to and repeatable quests that rewarded us from 1kk to 50kk a day, even went to a spot and pick leftover/adenas from stronger players was cool and good to do, THOSE THINGS HAVE GONE, WE DONT KNOW IF THEY REMOVED IT COS THE BOTS, GOLD SELLERS OR COS THEY WANT PPL TO BUY EVERYTHING IN THE GAME, PERIOD.(today we have COC lifestones, but good luck geting those without ubber/store/rmt gear). The true meaning of free to play is: __Free to log in and watch. They removed every chance of getting "fast" into endgame content by playing without spend on it, and all ncwest did just backfired, they just screwed up with any new possible player they could get by now.
we had a hard game and we loved and yet we all do miss those lv80 spots with 2000 to 4000 adena per mob, when GRIND had meaning, fight mobs had meaning, went out of ADEN had meaning. but what can we do if free to play is a rmt/goldfarm/pay2win/bot free party????
