Why is it always lagging? I am trying to figure if it's a game problem itseslf of NC has weak servers or what's going on.
I run other NC games like blade and Soul, zero lag and constant 60 fps, I run other games as well. Gw2, wow, etc. but Lineage 2 is always laggy. It is really frustrating to enjoy the game with this amount of lag. Cities are worst.
Will there be ever a solution or this is how its going to be till this game dies.
This is a vintage game that has a old engine, probably will never be updated until it's shutdown.
To have smooth gameplay you have to install it on a SSD.
also if you have options enabled such as Shadows/Weather/etc. they lower your fps alot.
the game will run fine on a PC like below which not that expensive anymore these days, 3 clients max details np besides normal connection lag between Europe and L2 servers for which I use BattlePing

I have 200/50 and unless its the only device using the internet best i get is 120/25.
If other devices are on your network you be lucky to get 10/1 your not exchanging data quick enough to prevent lag. I should know this well because I use to play this game on dialup when it first started lol

don't think so.
I run 13mbit down/1mbit up, constantly have 3 clients as shops on my laptop, I run main+box on my pc, wife runs 1 client on her laptop, and we don't have any lags (even with streaming movies in the back ground), and that's all on crappy BT router

Connection speed has absolutelly nothing to do with latency.
You say its choppy, does that mean when its not choppy, it plays well ?
It could be your power settings.
Check things like your hard drive and other items aren't set to go into standby or powersave mode etc. after x minutes.
Set your power settings to leave the drive at full and never go idle. Same with any other primary items.
Lag and low fps are two completely different things.
I see what you're saying but it is both, I assume when I click and character reacts second later its lag. Turning around in city is choppy. I look at fps and it greatly jumps around 45fps to 12fps the next minute on the same spot.
I even put all absolutely low settings, still lag and low fps. I even put Lineage2 in priority mode in my cisco router..

The issue is with the game motor itself. You can improve these things with an SSD/Ramdisk. The rest doesnt matter. The difference should be noticable between Intel and AMD but it is not worth to buy an Intel budget for the game only.
BTW, Intel vs AMD difference (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsQxFG4Pwmc)
The game was poorly designed and developed from the get go over 12 years ago. The network engineering and hardware optimization has always been garbage. This is why you see nutty frame rates, lag in major trade hubs and in large scale pvp.
It is also a key reason why people started using bots/scripts in pvp.
Bottom line is, except for Samsung, no Korean company has any good software engineers and computer scientists working for them. The closest NC Soft comes to is with their Arena Net team which does GuildWars.
And before anyone tries to "fanboi" defend them, let me remind you that many MMOs coming from other nations DO NOT have these same problems, even in large scale pvp and/or raids.
World of Warcraft does not have these issues, Elder Scrolls has fixed these issues and no longer has them, Star Wars the Old Republic doesn't have these issues, EvE online rarely has them and when they do crop up it is server hardware related until they shift loads around, GuildWars never had them that I noticed, and I never heard of FFXIV having them.

The video highlights how CPU dependent the game truly is. For some reason I never understood, Lineage II makes very poor use of your graphics card and loves to stick most rendering on the CPU.
Now if only who ever did that test had used the same graphics, ram, and SSD in all 4 tests. . .
I think I discovered something, apparently Lineage2 can only use 1 core of the CPU and that is why abysmal performance. So it's pretty much irrelevant how many cpu's your computer has. probably powerful 1 core would beat octacore.
Very disappointing that corporation of this magnitude doesn't want to invest in this great game and just driving it into the ground.

The only difference between AMD and Intel was that tiny FPS difference, and Intel was a bit more stable to keep a fix fps with less drop.
I've tried playing Lineage 2 on the following laptop specifications:
Processor: i5 5200u
Ram: 4GB 1666 mhz
HDD: 1T 5200 RPM
Graphics: nvidia 920m
Unfortunetely, the game is not playable: 15 FPS at the begining city, and every few seconds fps drops to 1. I have the lowest graphical settings both in game and nvidia drivers.
let me bump my post on this again as the core items are specifically selected for optimal performance for L2 on it's current engine, read the whole tech discussion topic on the Rochand link.
long story short the below CPU and Vid type are the best to run L2 on.

that's not a gaming laptop and the HD and Vid card are terrible.. the CPU you could try to overclock but yeah that set up plainly sux
ur pc is fine i could easily load up 16+ clients and had no lag at all, the game is just ******ed. FPS drops u have i never had tho the 1 second delay is cus ncwest has garbage servers in NA instead of some proper servers.
