The only reason most people would spend money on this event was to get new gems to fill the new brooch slot but since the new brooch is so expensive their choices are either buy a brooch and no gems... or buy nothing... most will buy nothing.
Apparently this is why nowadays people buy items and account from EPICNPC.com from those who quit the game.
It's way cheaper and you get what you want.

This morning I had a hard time finding enough space to walk thru Aden. Everything littered with SHADAI shops.
I bought 50 jewel boxes. Got 4 vitals, 2 cats eyes, 2 garnets, 2 amethyst, 2 topaz, 4 rubies.. the rest were a mix of aquas, pearls, obsidian, emeralds. I've already sold the rubies and will most likely sell the others. Not spending another dime and won't even think about the 5-slot jewel. With each event I am losing more and more interest in this game. It's a downward spiral and the only reason I keep logging in is the friendships I've made. That's about it. Others have said the same and aren't even logging in until the next update.
But that don't tell you how much ppl bought the expensive big box. Some maybe bought only the small ones.
But the small ones are even more expensive if you compare.
My guess: This event is a flat out full win for NCWest.

Man am I not happy that this game become pay to win? I mean when it was pay to play I had to pay @ some point for four accounts. But I was paying to play, not for pixels, but for a good time in game. Since it became pay to win (by the way you should change the TRULY FREE to PAY TO WIN), I haven't spent a single cent in it any more. I remember when was announced it will become "TRULY FREE" and lots of people were concerned about this pay to win aspect of the game and Sace reassured everyone that it will be only cosmetic items. I don't think it took more then a month until it got to what it is today.
Now why I am really here, is to ask people here: did you actually think you won't get disappointed with the prices after all this time. Or disgusted? I was. Yes expecting lower prices so I could afford burn some adena; I didn't had any brooch until this event, but seeing that 4 slots is about 1 bill and something and to pay 6 more bills for one more slot? Seriously? Or like other people compare the prices in real money: about 300 dollars? Pathetic really. I am really disgusted and I can say that this is a real mockery since a bad joke is way to less to be said. Then again I think this is what happens to some people that are addicted to the game: they have to pay for their addiction as any addict out there and NC knows that and exploits it to the max. GG NC. Because it's like charging 30k for a honda civic. And then charging 80k for a civic with a sunroof. The price disparity for what you get is simply messed up.
If it had been 8/9k for the brooch (which is what most were expecting), it would have been expensive, but LOTS of people were more than willing to spend it.
It's only compounded by the increased price of the ultimate box set, the abysmal compound rate, and the compound bugs with the new jewels.

The brooch price is beyond ridiculous, it should not be any higher than 2x the price of the 4 slot brooch.
The Jewel price is.... okay. It could be lower... The jewels should also be made accessible in Mammon ASAP in Exchange for Adena + GE + EOD (Like on the .EU & .RU servers) so that players who don't buy a lot of NCoins can eventually reach the same as the players who do. - This "Promotion" shouldn't be limited time, since it gives permanent items; it needs to stay permanently.
Putting the jewels in mammon would also aid in combatting RMT, it'd highly reduce the trade value of Level 5 jewels.
Players are quitting, players are on the fence about quitting; and this "promotion" does not help. Reading chat since servers came up on wednesday, I've got to say many aren't in favor of this "promotion" nor these prices.
I'd even go as far to say that this promotion & these prices are as much as "disrespectful" to a lot of your player-base.
Hoping you guys can do some damage control & see my reasoning for this post.

you forgot to mention that on .EU you can buy during the promo period the actual jewel boxes you want for a slightly more expensive price aka no randomness!!

Amen Ferine. I've lost all interest. Don't feel like logging. Only reason I do is to talk with friends. This event has just pushed many over the edge and I'm on the fence as well as far as just not caring and not wanting to play any more.
When I logged on and saw the price of the 5 slot brooch I was shocked. To tell the truth I, am glad it is rather expensive as it gave me a chance to pause and reflect.
At the first brooch event came out, I logged on and a clannie was talking about how he got four level 1 rubies and combined them into a level 3 ruby. It’s a great event he said. I quickly bought a 4 slot brooch and spent the entire event trying for a top ruby since it should not be too hard get. What a frustrating experience. I got carried away and spent way way more that I should have and never did get above level 3. Some people seem to have lots of luck and some don’t. I was ****** off for the duration of the event.
Strolling about Giran on Chronos I see lots of toons selling the new stuff, so I suppose NC Soft is doing just fine with the event. So I don’t think our complaining will have much effect.
The PvP jewels look interesting, but I am so far behind in PvP I will have to pass. I will just have fun with clannies doing on the PvE side.
Come on DreamSeeker, give us a post on how your fared during the event with your seemingly unlimited funds. Your post are interesting and I can usually keep my jealousy in check.

I am a working man and....I am NOT MARRIED! LOL! I don't drink or gamble or do drugs...so I got all this extra cash that just keeps piling; and I see L2 as a hobby like golf or travelling.

This time round I'm currently on about 14 lvl 1s on average to get a stage 3 gem, that's over 15 stage 3s.
It took me 80 Rubies to get the current Stage 3 to Stage 4 on my box toon. 40 Emeralds and Still a stage 3, 15 Tanzanite and only stage 2.
Previous event it was a solid average of 10 jewels to make a stage 3.
Not saying it's changed, probably just 15x bad luck.
For level 2s it's been about 20-40% success for me this time over a sample of over 150 compounds.
All i' ve read is true, but i continue to think no one is forced to buy anything, no one is forced to be on top all the time. The fun playing a game should be focused on other stuffs (friends,killing mobs etc etc).
L2 store is created for ppls can use real money on it, the others who are too young or get little income from work, or dont wanna use real money for a game can play in any case.
No one can force me to ask less euros for mine work IRL,if it happens i kick em out from mine work place, same is here i think, they can choose the price, customer can decide if buy or no or go to another game.
The problem with this event is that it's not even a "fun" cheap gamble, the odds are low, the reward isn't amazing and the stake is insanely high for a game. 200 clicks and you've just paid for a PS4, but for that you'll end up with enough adena/items to improve your character a TINY amount (15-20b is nothing in L2).
My issue is that I do have problems with gambling, if I start I easily blank out and spend too much even if I don't intend to. No one forces me to buy anything or try the events, but I want to play and I want to compete, so I make the initial purchase in the hopes of a good chance of reward.... which starts the addictive cycle. This whole game is tailored for people with that mentality from random drops off mobs, to random reward quests, enchanting, crafting etc etc etc. Every event is set to abuse this and prey on those players, recently though prices have shot up and rewards have become low.
This game has turned from making people addicted to the gameplay, fun and confrontation to a complete hollow gaming experience with a no-win casino attached. Any enjoyment from rewards is short lived and empty.
The fact is, whatever you spend on this game, scripts will always win and the "pro players" with 100s of bots or Gainak bot trains will just stay on top with you spending 1000s of dollars to fail to keep up.

The problem with this event is that it's not even a "fun" cheap gamble, the odds are low, the reward isn't amazing and the stake is insanely high for a game. 200 clicks and you've just paid for a PS4, but for that you'll end up with enough adena/items to improve your character a TINY amount (15-20b is nothing in L2).
My issue is that I do have problems with gambling, if I start I easily blank out and spend too much even if I don't intend to. No one forces me to buy anything or try the events, but I want to play and I want to compete, so I make the initial purchase in the hopes of a good chance of reward.... which starts the addictive cycle. This whole game is tailored for people with that mentality from random drops off mobs, to random reward quests, enchanting, crafting etc etc etc. Every event is set to abuse this and prey on those players, recently though prices have shot up and rewards have become low.
This game has turned from making people addicted to the gameplay, fun and confrontation to a complete hollow gaming experience with a no-win casino attached. Any enjoyment from rewards is short lived and empty.
The fact is, whatever you spend on this game, scripts will always win and the "pro players" with 100s of bots or Gainak bot trains will just stay on top with you spending 1000s of dollars to fail to keep up.

So many things can go wrong in Lineage2. I used to get angry and depressed whenever things went wrong but then started to embrace the None-Reversable reality of the game. It's kinda very much like real life. Each choice that I make have their consequences, either good or bad. For me, it was mostly due to my lack of patience a lot of times and carelessness most of the times that was the cause of my misfortunes.
Like...erasing Arcane Power for mage after the awakening, or Rapid shot for archers or Thrill fight + Focus attack for DreadNought...etc...ending up leveling the toon again from LvL1... I've seen the events and saw the rise and fall of event item prices but...a lot of times I end up buying the things at the high price, simply because I have the adena and I want what I want right now...type of thing.... Earth Wyrm Ring I paid over 20B but 2 weeks later, I saw them at AH at 15B then 2 more weeks later 11B...LOL
My first Bloody weapon +12? I was so much in a rush to get it that I over-paid for a lot of things + made some bad enchant choices...and ended up spending almost 60B to make +12 Bloody bow when I just could've got it for 40B EASY.
Now I'd like to believe I've learned my lessons, I'd like to think...
Amen Ferine. I've lost all interest. Don't feel like logging. Only reason I do is to talk with friends. This event has just pushed many over the edge and I'm on the fence as well as far as just not caring and not wanting to play any more.
Maybe they plan to close servers like it happened in Thailand or something like that (heard from some people in game), and make one or few more cash out sales. Or just taking advantage of the game addicts here. I gotta say I do see lots of shops in Aden with event stuff. I thought @ some point there ain't anything else on market in Aden but those event jewels boxes. Although like someone else here said, nobody forces anyone to buy anything, it's just your (generally speaking) choice.
This time round I'm currently on about 14 lvl 1s on average to get a stage 3 gem, that's over 15 stage 3s.
It took me 80 Rubies to get the current Stage 3 to Stage 4 on my box toon. 40 Emeralds and Still a stage 3, 15 Tanzanite and only stage 2.
Previous event it was a solid average of 10 jewels to make a stage 3.
Not saying it's changed, probably just 15x bad luck.
For level 2s it's been about 20-40% success for me this time over a sample of over 150 compounds.
Noticed that too compared to last year and some players aswell, might not sound much of a difference while aiming for lvl 3 only, but for 4 and above, that subtle change is a lot.

Skills changing, item prices shifting losing and gaining exp etc are all things that just affect the game. Overpricing, gambling and extortionate prices to keep up with people who bot for free affects real life. I take home about £2500 a month after tax, £200 a month wouldn't be to bad for me to spend on a hobby and I'd feel happy with that purchase, but £120 for one round of event gambling with no reward is insane. The investment requirement is close to £800 a month for a game with 0 support or customer service (outside of 20min response time if you reach ncoin limit).
L2 used to be about time or bots, now it's money or bots, PvP was little affected by either money or bots.... The investment requirement has increased a HUGE amount in both cases and PvP is completely dead without having both.

Next time 6 slot brooch will be $500 and 100 chest pack will be $300 and town will be filled with sell shops.
They paying $150 now, they will pay $300 then.(thats NC thinking).
My God, they can even put $1000 for 100 boxes, people would still buy tons of them! All towns will still be full of sell shops!
They(nc) are just kids testing their parents(dumb costumers) patience.
If NCWest adapts the prices to the lower spending power of their average customers, you might get your super SA over here for just 1200 dollars. Aren't they nice? :D

Doesn't matter who shells out $$ to buy those Ncoins needed in the end, because someone has to spend them to get these items sold for adena.Not to mention that there are many ways to make adena ingame and selling Ncoin is not playing at all, why those ppl "play" at all?
