Recently, to commemorate my 1 year of Lineage2 return, I took 1 week sabbatical from L2.
There is nothing wrong with the game but just me feeling burnt out most of the time. I've been getting less sleep to play more, less exercise to play more, basically sacrificing whatever I could if that meant achieving my goals in L2 faster; but even so, at some point it felt like everything was due ALL THE TIME. I hope you guys know the feeling... So, for no reason at all, I just stopped for 1 week. I didn't even log in for quick 20 min K95 Duo a day.
I feel much better now, been Sleeping like 9hr+ a day, got my grocery shopping done and made some good food(MeatBall Pasta + Italian sausage). It's not just about my body and good nutrient but it seems like My Mind needs some rest too and it's not just about sleeping.
As it turns out... I only have definite pre-determined limited time and energy that I can spend Per Day and I've been pushing and pushing myself over a One full Year...It's sad though that even my mind, my soul... seems to obey the laws of Physics....I used to think that I have limited physical energy but UNLIMITED mental energy!;however, that belief now seems no longer true for me...or am I just getting old? I hope not.
What's amazing is that...the world didn't end...and everything is O.K. even without playing L2! Everything is frozen in the world of Aden now.
I used to dream of finding a perfect human world in MMORPG games, thinking that whatever imperfection we have in the real world, we can fix and make them perfect in the cyber world...kinda...looking at games like Lineage2 as a social experiment in the hope of finding A PERFECT SOCIETY, a solution to all the social problems and wars in the real world...
You did in 1 year what took me much longer. I started off L2 with a bang. Played hardcore around the clock (2004 was much less rewarding and took much more effort), including bringing my pc tower to the office to grind on the clock lol. Over time, and after achieving different goals etc, I looked back and thought to myself "there's gotta be more to life". I quit. Came back for another stretch. Quit again. Returned in 2012 and have maintained more of a passive or casual gaming style. Not taking anything too serious..not letting things upset me..and realizing it's just a game and there's far more important things in this world. Sadly in today's L2 where advanced xp/sp exist and the strength of one's wallet leads the charge, all this is possible 100x faster. People achieve everything faster, get bored faster, and have much less satisfaction. L2 will always have that special addictive "something" that keeps us coming back, or wondering when we're gone though.
But realistically, it's just a **** game and we all need to realize that and go breathe the fresh air.
What's amazing is that...the world didn't end...and everything is O.K. even without playing L2!
Realize, that even while you were gone, L2 continued. It doesn't need you. You are nothing special and you are not the soul fuel the game needs to survive. Realize that all your money spent means nothing, and you've wasted numerous threads and paychecks here. Slap yourself. You should really just step back and give yourself a big "wtf have I been doing". Life becomes more enjoyable.

I haven't played much in two years really. I played some today and funny enough it did not change, people gained levels that I knew and they still playing. It does indeed go on with or without you.
Spammers still spamming and the bots keepin on botting.

Perhaps I didn't clarify enough or the context of my memoir wasn't clear enough to show Which World that I was talking about.
There is 1. Real World, 2. World of Lineage2, the virtual world, 3. My own private world; and the world that I mentioned above was my own private world.
I've been so engrossed and kinda obsessed with the idea of maximizing Exp gained and leveling faster that everything just became habits. At one point, it really began to feel like I HAD TO do my daily routines everyday as if something terrible was gonna happen if I didn't and the end of my world would come if I didn't.

It's good to know there is someone who cares, although most of your remarks recently are aimed to ridicule me, but I don't blame you.
I think what bothers you the MOST is the level of my SERIOUSNESS. I mean it's only a freaking game after all, and here is this guy spending all this time and money for a simple game and plus all this wring on the forum!...what a waste! I am pretty sure this is what's going through your mind? Besides, I think I inadvertently let you down in the past. I said I was gonna try and make the game fair for all players but instead I ended up being just a good royal customer for Nstore promos...Well, I have my reasons but you have the right to be upset. I am pretty sure your advice here is a good wake-up-call for the people who are truly mindlessly Lost & addicted to the world of L2.
Just know this, everyone is different. Everyone has different standard and abilities. 1 hr a day is casual for someone while 3-4 hrs a day is casual for someone else. I guess we all need to figure out what's good balance for each one of us.
People watch T.V. cuz they like watching T.V.
People play tennis cuz they like playing tennis.
People drink beer cuz they like drinking beer.
People play L2 cuz they like playing L2.
People write cuz they like writing.
There is no need for a reason for the things we like in life, for they are intrinsically good by definition.

Hey, thanks for the invitation. I will think about it.

I'm pretty sure I understand the obsession, when this game opened for beta testing and then eventually launched I didn't immediately catch the obsession. When I caught on I would play straight through entire weekends, no sleep, nothing. The game had it's high and low points. I felt that if I didn't put in the time I wouldn't keep up with my game friends. I'd basically go to work, play L2 and sleep. I'd use my work vacation time during XP events or game events if I could. Holidays were spent as much time as I could in L2. I'd taken breaks from L2 here and there, nothing longer than a month or two. My boyfriend at that time was the same or would call in sick to work. All of those things weren't really good habits, like an alcoholic really. We did nothing else together other than play L2 and it was a factor that destroyed our relationship, when I became more interested in doing things with him, he wasn't, he'd say that he waited 3 hours to get into a party so whatever it was that I needed of him, it wasn't happening.
The last two years I'd say I haven't played much at all. I'm fairly certain that I'll never be that level of obsessed again. I don't divide my existence into "worlds". The only reason I've picked back up on it this weekend is because it's winter and not a whole lot to do right now. I mostly put my time into my husband, work and this house. Sometimes you need a distraction though

I don't hate you...when I say "you", I in general mean anyone too deeply embedded in something as silly as a video game, when there's real life going on around us. I too was "serious" about the game many years ago until I woke up and gave myself a wtf am I doing of my own... Don't take it too personal when I seem disgusted at some of your posts...I'm just commenting things that I feel are relevant to everyone that would get in too deep really. I actually enjoy your posts to a degree, although I don't necessarily agree with them. Don't take me the wrong way.. What I was trying to say though, is L2 doesn't need you (any 1 of us) and it was here before you, and to some degree it will be here after you. Nothing that any of us do will save the game. NCW is just one provider..when it's gone there'll be others and/or privates as well...it'll live on somewhere with or without you (us).

This is very true. Even if not one player is logged in, the Raiders of the Pastureland will keep on killing Baby Grendels. Since Lineage 2 is an integral part of contemporary Korean culture, after the end of the game the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Arts at Ansan will probably put up one server/client as a piece of installation art, like back in 2012: http://www.inven.co.kr/webzine/news/?site=lineage2&news=45591

:D
Actually the "NPC AI" isnt active if there are no players around, but I get your point :D

Hey man, no offense taken. A lot of times I have the tendency to get carried away too far with the flow of my thoughts that, often times, I end up making myself looking like a fool... LOL I guess I only have myself to blame for this.
However, unlike 10 years ago when I was younger and truly foolish, I now enjoy the different views and constructive criticisms very much.
Your attacks made to my older posts were written so beautifully, I actually enjoy reading them too! LOL! Good job man!

sad story.
I think ppl need play l2 only 1-2 hours per day not more.
Because yes, life it's life, virtual life it's virtual.
Atm dont focus in many dimensional life, it's not matrix XD
Join friends, play l2 with friends, have fun, enjoy, play the game, and dont miss your real life :P
