Yes , you are right it's pretty involved even private servers had trouble with this.. As far as I know there is an SQL stored procedure for moving the character data between world ids that transfers (char name , pledge id , account name account id , gender , race , class ,world , the loc information (x,y,z) the items information , the character stats and all that ) but it's safe to assume there's no procedure for the clan

Name Changes After the Server Merge
If your character's name has been changed in the server merge due to a name conflict, you will have to change its name before entering the game. Successfully keeping an original name is still technically a name change because by doing so you will be getting rid of the number that was appended to the name to resolve the name conflict during the merge. Name conflicts are basically resolved by giving the desired name to the first player that requests it, but there are certain conditions. If multiple parties have the same name pre-merge whoever logs in will be able to first claim the name. However, if the other parties would like to also have a fair chance for the name as well, they can request the support team to investigate the character history on each parties respective server.
To keep or change your character name:
As you log in after the server merge, in the character selection screen, you may see that a character has a new number at the end of its name. This means that your character had a character name conflict. If you don't have a new number at the end of your character's name, you can log straight in to the game.
When you select a character that has a name conflict, a message box pops up explaining that there was a character name conflict. It says: "Please enter your desired name."
You can enter in your original character name. Entering your original character name lets you check to see if the name is still available.
If a character has already claimed the name that you are trying to assign to your character, you will not be able to use that name.
You will see the above popup message box. Enter a different character name in the message box. Repeat this process until you have successfully renamed your character. You can now log in with that new name.
There will be an appeals process for those players who lose a name due to griefing or name-stealing tactics. If you lose a name due to griefing, send a support ticket and we will investigate the issue. If you lose a name and you're not sure if it was through griefing or if it was a legitimate name-claim, send a support ticket so the GM team can investigate for you.

In that case, hero coins should be kept during the merge but I will double check.

3) Names and max characters. What if your Character name has 16 characters?
Name Your Character
Enter the name you want to give your character. Names may be up to 16 alphanumeric characters in length.
For example: qwertyuiopasdfgh, tecnically can't be qwertyuiopasdfgh1 or qwertyuiopasdfgh2.
Length won't matter, a number will still be appended if needed.
RE other questions about name conflicts and character warehouses, all of those are addressed in the guide. But just to reiterate, all character warehouse items will transfer intact. If, and only if, one of your characters has a name conflict will you be given the option to change. The rules for this are outlined in the guide, along with the necessary steps to resolve any conflicts involving the "stealing" of names.

A good question. But there are some easy ways to not lose items.
1) If your account, not stay with more than 6 characters after merge, create one extra character and give items to him, using both its inventory and its private warehouse.
2) If your account, not stay with more than 7 characters, create a new account and give items to the necessary characters, using both its inventory and its private warehouse.
New character creation on Shilen, Magmeld, and Bartz will be disabled starting on April 6th, 2016

This post is a clear example of relatively new players that are not aware of L2 NCWest history from Closed Beta till today..
when L2 was released for the Western worlds in 2003 (Closed Beta) 2004 General release there was only NCWest so the first 3 servers had a mix of players from NA / Latins America / Euro / Russia etc. and it stayed like that for many years..
what people call EU L2 Core is something from ~2013 or so and most NCWest server players stayed here for various reasons like friends/clans/not wanting to rebuild chars etc.
now when Bartz/Shilien/Magmeld were created many Euro/Russia players who were tired of their old servers politics or just wanted a fresh start or easy farm for XP/gear moved there..
now reality is that on all NCWest servers there are still huge communities of NA / Latins America / Euro / Russia - even on Chronos server there are close to equal amount of Euro players as NA/LA players so the outcome of timezone voting was very predictable and if done on all servers it would have been more or less the same for all of them except maybe Zaken as there was much more marketing (Steam) promotion done in NA to make that happen but again even there you will find that at least 25% of the player base is Euro..
long story short there is NO such thing as a pure NA/LA server on NCWest
ps, if NCWest would set all servers on NA timezone L2 would no longer be profitable for them to run as that means at least 50+% of all NCoin spenders would quit play L2 on NCWest servers and that's just plain bad business practice and unwanted by all imo

Well you must know the every CH owners have pay big money and to they have chance to get some top or w/e clan hall in new Freya server they need to be proper pay out. If we have top clan hall and lose in merge you as NC need to compensate good adena to we try get new in new server. What is point if you give use 100kk when with that adena we not may even enter in new auction. Adena (for top ch) must be in billions.
So bartz players go from gmt-5 to gmt+1
shilen go from +0 to +1
magmeld from -2 to +1
average time on that would be the gmt-2 and everyone would be happy not to mention that u put naia/chronos/zaken players voting...
i guess free server transfers to players in those 3 servers would be something to think about so we can move a server with times we can play as we creat those accounts in those server because of the gmts and now u just make them like 1-6h diference.

GMT is a fixed timezone, and is not affected by any country regulation about summer time...
GMT +1 the server will keep the same as always, because no one will play and EQ will still be there, certainly has open transfer for free to whoever is of 3 servers, now more than ever, who was already there in shillen, magmeld and bartz will get out fast, and freya will count for nothing, Kronos will pack now , freya will be there in your cold and icy server without PVP..

I wonder why GMT + 1 has earned being that 54.41% of those who voted not want to GMT + 1, do not want Latin players on their servers, or this and only for these players pay the transfer to Chronos, it would not be fair and honest of you to them to open a free transfer to the Chronos of players of Shilen / Magmeld and Bartz who do not want to play in the GMT + 1.

Making the timezone gmt + 1 and not offering free transfers to zaken is pretty insulting to many (formerly) loyal NA players. It's basically saying that NCSOFT doesn't care if they can participate in Ceremony of Chaos, Olympiad or sieges. Basically the things that help make L2 fun. Almost not even worth complaining about at this point though, given the level of care you show for your players. I'm downloading Black Desert........

Name change please call it what it is. First person to login can take any name. Example the name "Bilbo" is on every server. If I log in before any of the original Bilbo's from the three servers they are screwed its now my name. Why not just say everyone is starting over with names because in essence thats what it is. There is no such thing as stealing a name when they open the flood gates first in wins. NCSoft should have had a better plan for this name problem instead of ******* everyone off.

i guess free server transfers to players in those 3 servers would be something to think about so we can move a server with times we can play as we creat those accounts in those server because of the gmts and now u just make them like 1-6h diference.

NCSoft said they would take the top 2 votes for server time boy did they dupe us. But the euro's are happy to have Naia2. They say one thing then do another. Just another example of poor customer service from NCSoft.
I think that all accounts that are N. American should get free transfers with everything they own.. if you can't participate in events because of time.....

Making the timezone gmt + 1 and not offering free transfers to zaken is pretty insulting to many (formerly) loyal NA players. It's basically saying that NCSOFT doesn't care if they can participate in Ceremony of Chaos, Olympiad or sieges. Basically the things that help make L2 fun. Almost not even worth complaining about at this point though, given the level of care you show for your players. I'm downloading Black Desert........

You must realize that the poll was built so whatever the result was... NC Soft could take the maximum profit of it (by server transfers). They deliberaty chose to split in 3 major timzones -5, -2 and 0/+1, knowing that combined, the first two (NA/SA) would outweight the EU timezone (just by looking the server population).
I am sure this will be removed but I am going to be honest. It seems that if two groups vote NA time at a higher number than those that voted GMT+1 that we would go NA time. I also think that if we voted a different time we should be able to transfer to a server that has a more compatible timeframe for free.
However, this will not be the case. We will once again have to transfer on our own money. Way to make the maximum amount of money from this "Free to Play" game. I am seriously thinking of no longer wasting my time on this broken game. Give me a break.
so much speculations.. let me add another just for the funz, most if not all Euro players on Magmeld/Shilien/Bartz don't like Naia so if the server would have been made same GMT as Chronos it meant those players would quit NCWest and move to EU L2 instead meaning huge loss of revenue for NCWest whereas NA/SA players do not have such alternative and are stuck with NCWest regardless of what they do ;)

Overall the result of this new server being in euro time and not NA time is not because of GM's fault but the voters fault, euro people made a stand and voted as a collective group and went GMT+1 while those that off NA and LA instead of making a single decision as well was divided majority of them went to GMT-2 and some even though its a lost cause still voted for GMT-5. and the GM's made it clear as well that they will pick out of the 2 top selections :) Although with that said if GM's will be making another one of this and just put 2 choices GMT+1 or GMT-2 definitely without a doubt GMT-2 will win :)
Moral Lesson: Next time make sure you make your vote count!

I agree with this I think it should be fair that players should not be forced to play on a server time they didn't sign up for. Although highly doubt Ncsoft will do a pro bono XD

Tell me how much ppl dailye active have bartz (~100-150), how mach have magmeld have i may tell you less of 200 w/o bots and alts/box. From that 200 more of 70-80 are EU. In shilen im sure is more of 500 active and 90% are EU zone. Just be real in all this 3 servers is more EU instead NA/SA.

And meaning in the merged servers? On new server will be play people from Shilen and we lost people from Bartz and Magmeld.
You take care about yourself but you have to take care of all the players.
PS:In Shilen play more 50% brazilian and latinos ppl, and Shilen have not 500 active ppl, max 200-250.

Can NCsoft make sure that peoples from Magmeld/Batz/Shilent server vote for this timezone only ? Or anyone from another server can vote for this time zone too ?

voting is illegitimate, It is very easy to make a vote with different IP, only you need to use an internet connection via Mobile telephony.
remember that Shilen is the clan with more bots of all servers and were the most excited about leaving the schedule at +1; they used all their accounts bots for this.
In shilen most people comes from South America their time zone are -5 to -3

long tie ago , in 2011/12 we start in Shilen/Magmeld/Bartz because was told the all old servers get merge in Chronos/Naia and this 3 new servers will be start from 0 with GoD... and then in ~10 months from start ding... transfers was open (even free) and all "big boys" who have time from 2004 to 2012 to collect money/items lvl come in new servers and claim victory vs ppl who just started game... History will replay someone like that or not...

You're not wrong, but it is not the same scenario this time.
During those free transfer, it was max lv. 85 and lol S84 weapons that was top.
Shortly after GoD launch those became worse (still ok, but worse) than apoc/twilight.
So the only benefit those people really had was being lv. 85 while we started on lv. 1.
The only thing that happened during those merges were a big influx of old epic jewelry, but that is not that big of a deal
Also, back in those days you could actually farm adena & items without difficulty, on Zaken that is not the reality, they've been stuck with this low droprate since day one.
It just wouldnt work merging those two very different kind of ecomomies.
NCWest should know all this, so most logical thing would be to keep zaken closed for transfer for atleast one more year, if not theyre shooting themselves in the foot :D

You join and pray to get some of 3 other from your clan who sty up to 3am instead 50+ others from na/sa clans who feed each other because they all play in same time and all may help each other. Or in CS when you need to focus in PVP in 3am and know the after cs end in 5am you have to go to sleep and up after 2h because from 7am you need to prepare and go to work...

Sadly but for 1000+ real persons w/o alts/bots who log every day will need to merge all 5 NCWest servers in one. L2 lose players in global, even Korea lose ppl there. More ppl leave game instead new who just start to play... yes, sad but true... if one person per day log off and delete game did 1 new in 7 days download game and create account...

What is done is done, and I am sure i am a minority here... I even talked with other Brazilians in game and they said that they will feel little difference. But, as a matter of fact, they normally do not do regular work hours or do not work at all.

It is exactly this question that gm does not answer: why don't they put the vote on schedules that don't exist on other servers, such as gmt -1 or -3 for example? so much speculations.. let me add another just for the funz, most if not all Euro players on Magmeld/Shilien/Bartz don't like Naia so if the server would have been made same GMT as Chronos it meant those players would quit NCWest and move to EU L2 instead meaning huge loss of revenue for NCWest whereas NA/SA players do not have such alternative and are stuck with NCWest regardless of what they do ;)
btw Buster should just remove all posts about the timezones here as it's derailing the topic and it will not change the facts..

You've played Shilen for quite some time, so I guess that gmt+1 shouldn't be a problem, now does it?

I sincerely and many other players do not understand the choice of the new schedule freya server, since none of the servers that go join the schedule has gmt + 1.
If you added up the votes of schedules gmt 0, gmt gmt-2 and-5 are the majority and chose previous schedule the gmt +1 therefore we not first understand why the gmt +1 have been put to a vote and especially not understand why won.
Most players these 3 servers in question are South Americans and this schedule affect all these players since it is the business of the South American schedule.
I sincerely hope you reconsider this schedule or many players will be forced to stop playing.

Realistically a vote was dumb, they probably could have used math to figure out an optimal time zone (most likely an average of the 3 existing zones) and set that. However its quite tricky because who wknows which would generate more ragers on the forums.
Draecke - do u have any idea what event schedule were on? ie; which korean event lines up next. I struggle to search them properly.

well I not like this :( we missing battle marks, if you get 10 mach before merge you get reset and now no option to make new 10... they say for reset but never till merge say the oly will not start next week after merge. If no oly why then is COC on, why not delay COC also will may.

Because Ceremony of Chaos is not olympiad :D, and since there is event 0 Adena Augment Removal, they let us make Spirit Stones and you also can make your battle marks there.

well yes but im to lazy to play coc 1 time in 15 min, i more like 30 mach in 1 day of week, with ratio ~50% that is ~300 marks for 3h online active in week + 2ge each noble char(x10 samy afk oly). not max 256 marks from play 4h x 4 days and some LS IF win coc.

Why you block Freya to dimensional server? And other, why you reset castles at dimensional server from clan from Freya? Its the same clan's who owned this castles from older servers. Change only server from it's clan, no more, clan its the same.

They work, just before their auction day you couldn't check them for the next item, because there was no pervious one.Now they are back to normal.
How you know this? Is Monday, Aden auction need to "end" in 5h and there is still no option to see what is in sell or to offer your bid.

Are Dimensional Raids OFF too?
Yes, dimensional raids are currently off until approximately 4/30, since the first scheduled siege on Freya is on 5/1. Note: It's not meant to be discrimination but this schedule is hard coded into the server itself and automatically scheduled.

You can actually find the full Freya schedule in the login notice on that server. It has all the starting dates for PvP stuff. :)

Clan Halls, Castles,
All Castles, Clan Halls, and Fortresses will be reset.
Clans who own auctionable, contestable, or provisional clan halls will be compensated with Clan Fame and Adena. This will be available after the servers come back up from maintenance.
For auctionable Clan Halls, the winning bid amount will be sent to the Clan Warehouse.
Clans will be compensated for Clan Hall rent based on the amount initially paid and time remaining on the rent before the merge.
Clan Fame will be provided to the Clan that owns any contestable Castles or Clan Halls on the day of the server merge.
Clan Hall Auctions will not stop, however only auctions won before the announcement will be given compensation.
Castle Sieges will begin on April 27, 2016.

Sorry but you think the I not know for marks change option... 10 oly mach may be done in less of 1h, one day per monts, that is 1h per noble char and depend how much you win you may get 870-1200 marks... tell me how much time you will need to get 1000 marks from COC? Is ***en 4 per 15 min, 16/1h, 64/day, 256/week, so to get 1000+ marks you need to not miss even one COC ALL MONTH !!! pls dont insult us with compare coc cs oly for battle marks...
Yes you may see clans there BUT NOT ALL, just clans who retake name if they get same clan name in another server. Look ex. "max" you may see old clan name 44calliber18 but no new iMAX. For clans who not change name or not rewrite same as before is not possible to search them! Try look my personal alt clan, lv 8, 8 members, leader Plavusha, name Crusad3rs you may see him in clan entry list but not in clan community list. That is problem what I talk here...
