testing oly atm

i always get the same match ups.. so far 1st test done.. and I got someone completely new for first... curious to see how 2nd test run goes will post what I find... as im sure some of you are tired of fighting the same people over n over

like when u have 1 oly point going to fight people with 400+ lol
People say that the oly has changed the way it is setup but as far as I can tell it is still almost the same. They added a little bit more of a random into it but its mostly still a matter of what wave you sign with.

And for all of you complaining about having 10 or less oly points and getting matched with someone with 400++ points, think of it from their point of view. Those type of people are going for hero, used to fighting with people with high OE gear and all the trimmings, and either loosing or winning 10 points at a time, now they are up against you and they are only going to get 1-3 points from you. The situation sucks on both sides. But look at the bright side, at least you are dying an honorable death.

i get the set same people every time... regardless of points. What I have noticed is some times... not always if I sign semi naked... I get some weaker chars... kinda 50%... if i wear my full kit... I get people I have no chance against. (most time daggers who hit and hide all match or evis's that just run all match after they dps me or streight up kill me) tank problems and im legit... which 99% of tanks will say join the dark side lol or lose

Are you coming straight out of oly and signing right away? If you wait 5 minutes after coming out I guarantee that you will have different sets of people. I understand about the tank thing though, they are one of the classes that got left behind, unfortunately they are almost obsolete and in need of a major overhaul. You also have to look at the gear difference of yours vs theirs, you can't expect even as a tank to stand toe to toe with a DD with Red fists most likely PvP and all the trimmings that go with it and and live. Killing as a tank is an art form, but every class has certain ways to go about killing, you just have to find the right one that fits both your style and your opponents style of killing.

even if I wait for certain people to go in... ill just get someone else that can hit hide or run away the whole match and still win with dps.

9/10 times I sign i get an evis / dagger

It's the plague of any forum regardless of its subject matters: every time a problem is detected, a horde of trolls pops up and floods the topic with their extremely thoughtful and valuable opinions:
"I have no clue what you're talking about but I think there is no problem at all"
or
"Oh yeah it is broken, so what? Life is not fair, get over it!"
and so on.

How about you shove your "opinions" up where they belong, and start talking about dry facts instead?
The facts are:

1. Recently, the developers deliberately changed the Olympiad matching system in a desperate attempt to revive the dying Korean servers where people have lost any interest to any kind of pvp at all. However, on NA servers where the Oly is quite popular, it has led to disastrous consequences, as it turned the entire system upside down and arsy-versy.

2. The reworked system now favors only the selected few (those at the very top and the very bottom), while the vast majority of participants are getting the short end of the stick.

From an average player's point of view, the Oly is now as fun and entertaining as Sisyphean labour: the more you work, the more you lose. There is no sense of progression anymore.

3. Should you care to do the server-wide investigation of the Olympiad points distribution among players on a monthly basis, you would have realized what exactly is wrong now.

Hint: months ago, there were dozens of participants (not heroes, just 1st tier or 2nd tier players) that showed fairly good results, i.e. well over a hundred of points per month. For example, I scored somewhere between 50+ and 300+ points on each of my high level characters. That's how it should work when the system is point-based, and it is clear who is capable of what.
Now, pretty much everyone (regardless of gear/levels) is down to the same level of misery. A few heroes can still earn 500+ points, all the rest are rubbing along with 10-30 points or so.
If you think this situation is normal, be my guest.

They added a little bit more of a random into it but its mostly still a matter of what wave you sign with.

No it is NOT random.
Now, it is based on some screwed-up algorythms that provide the most absurdic match-making, worse than ever before.

I can take my yesterdays' matches for example:
I did 22 matches on 3 different characters, and every time I got an opponent who had significantly more points than I (that included 5 heroes and a few hero candidates; I highly doubt I belong to the same division with them yet the server obviously thought so!).

If the system was point-based (like in the past) or random to some extent, then I'd expect to get at least a half of matches with the opponents with similar or lesser numbers of points. Not the Oly enforcers in every other match!

And for all of you complaining about having 10 or less oly points and getting matched with someone with 400++ points, think of it from their point of view.

Once again: enough of ramblings. I've been doing the Oly for almost 10 years, several hundreds of matches every month. I've seen all the changes made in the past, and I clearly see what is going on now. Your deep thoughts are irrelevant. The fact is, the system is broken since the latest ninja patch. The Oly system is not competition-oriented anymore, lots of people are losing interest in participation.

It has to be fixed ASAP, nuff said.

True that.

Since I have 7 noblesse characters (4 lvl 99+ and 3 lvl 85+) I play the Oly on 2 game clients at the same time. Typically, while my lvl 99+ char in the 1st window pretty much always gets to fight someone lvl 103+ with 100+ points, my lvl 85 alt char in the other window gets either some lowbie in noob gear or a lvl 99 half-naked afk dummy. So, once I'm done losing the match on main, I usually have enough time to switch to the alt window and kill the dummy.

And yes I often get to fight the same person 2-3 times per Oly night (up to 6 times per month, which is really beyond any sort of "random").

As a result of this bizarre match-making system, lately I end up with ~10 points on main (lvl 100 in average gear) and with ~50 points on lvl 85 alts!

How messed up is that???
