This means we'll actually see action being taken to obvious bots/cheaters fast enough to not make cheating worth it?
Cause the damage done over all these years due to cheating has changed everything in game. From overstacked toons to heroes and castle owning.
After 12 years we see well known cheaters being banned for 7 days and only after taking a huge amount of ppl complaining. Thous making the crime very worth it.
90% ppl of servers using 3rd prog.
10% ppl of server playing legit.
5% ppl of 10% legin peoples crying about bots.
Problems isn't using 3rd prog. but no alive gm that can take action against low-lvl bots for farm adena.
One ban wave and half if not 80% will quit this game, beacuse noone will play lineage 2 legit. doubt they will perma ban the first round but anything after is a different story..
L2 is pretty addictive and if nobody can/gets to cheat most of current players will stay except for the few truly handless that can't even play the game without 3rd party helping them move around etc.
Expect quite a few people that gave up on NCWest to return and check it out if it's real or not for sure.

More words we need to see action. No one should get warnings first time caught should be permanently banned. Furthermore people like pope who clearly cheat and probably depend on l2 for a living should have Thier forum accounts investigated to figure out who they are in game and banned. Also if you are serious about no bot use, a new server should be opened so everyone can start from scratch with no ranger, since you blew the chance with zaken, and put the game back on steam to show people you are actually doing something about the bots.

one more way to stop RMT of gold and items is to stop player Shops and stop gold / item moving ,and make the only way to sell and buy is by the auction house with a check of the price of items by the DB so you cant sell iron or any old crap for 1billion even then if there are 10 items at 1 billion the buyer of RMT will not know who is getting the gold or item and that will stop it once and for all

So seems we will have another age of random bans when most part of bots keep do their dirty rmt job.
You know that mass total ban will be more fair then random bans, because there will be no cheaters left. But with your policy it will not happen. You will ban players who use proxy to play with 1 battleping from few computers, in same time most dirty players will stay unbanned who farming gainak or raid bosses with their bot trains.
Another problem, do you think that one players will stop use pvp programs, if they not sure that their enemy not use this pvp programs. Or probably one side of players will try do it, but after first time they face other players who keep run pvp programs, they say "f4ck it" and start use their pvp programs again.
Even if both sides of players will stop use programs, after 1 random cheater appear, who will be reported few times and there will be no action taken, new era of cheat escalation will start.
When you say this Warring, its like terrorism, you make players feel terror in hope they will follow your will. But players is not so stupid like you think. Most of them playing longer then all GM. Many of them work programmers, some of them work managers, who work with more people then players on server. They understand all your hidden ideas.

Your items/characters don't belong to you but your rights as a citizen of these countries do and if NC were to do this and it was proven they wouldn't be able to distribute their any of games in these countries after losing a several million dollar lawsuit. Trust me, every update Lineage II undergoes is carefully disassembled and reassembled to see exactly what was changed client side. A simple log review from siege days(when zR runs wild and free) would indicate how fast someone can assist other party member, or how fast he switch targets, or how fast marks every single switching target with star tag, or how fast player targets someone getting up after ress/casting noble buff.
How he can use skills that auto normal attack after being cast but that player never normal attack cause every skills is cast as if holding shift, even clicking around to move around non stop.
Yeah I've seen your videos casting skills and NEVER EVER an arrow being thrown after any skill.

To say that the other programs would make up 24%+ isn't very far-fetched at all considering tower was just as popular if not more popular than z.

NCsoft has lost more than that to official EU servers cause they havent been able to handle bot... if bot prevention really works I wonder if these people will also play in NC servers in future.
Sure - they wont come back in day1 of ban-waves... but give them time and some of them might come back.

No warning should've been given at all. Botting and third party programs have been a bannable offense since day 1. No warning needed. Ban the f'ers and move on. I've played this game since 2007, and I don't plan on quitting. I know I'm safe from the ban waves because I don't cheat! Quit making excuses, and start the bans today! This "new measures" is nothing if the punishment you guys will give to those who violated and used 3rd party programs are just as basic as suspending their account for 7 days. People will not learn to respect the authority and the rules if you're gonna play nice. I suggest since we all know that you guys can't show the names of those accounts who got ban why not show instead the servers and clans they belong to. Furthermore as some might have suggested that first time that a person is caught using an illegal software he/she should be permanently ban at first you will definitely lose some players (those people who can't play without 3rd party programs) but in the long run it will be replaced by those people who plays legit. also you guys should hire or outsource an active GM for each servers who will facilitate the daily activities in each servers and check manually those players.

What good will outsourcing do? Everything still traces back to NCWest, no matter who does the job and from where. It is still illegal for them to do such actions solely because they are a USA based company.

Real players with getting bans on main character, and plague of low-lvl bots will be up, most adena they have by lvling to ~65 lvl it take near 2-3h... the new anti-bot will be enougt fast to ban low-lvl's before they send adena to the owner and start new account? - ofcourse not. High-lvl players will quit beacuse of fear about lose items, and plague of bots will continue their work...
Ban every cheater, strict and without mercy or warning.
If that means losing half of the population, so be it. I am sure if the word is out that NCWest servers finally are clean, more than the lost players will return.
There simply isn't any other game like L2, so even if just a small part of the population that stopped over the years due to bots/cheats would come back, it would for sure more than make up for the number of banned ppl.

You don't understand what you are talking about. To actually detect the most popular bot program you would need to search a computer's data which is illegal in the USA and several other countries(...) after losing a several million dollar lawsuit.

The last time they decided they'd set up some automated anti-cheat system, (which i'm pretty sure they made because they didn't want to pay any more in-game GMs) I lost a dwarf, level 1, created on a blank account just to save a name. Never leveled, never traded anyone, never left the starting town for 3 years, just logged in on it's birthday. I go to log in one day, and it's banned. I create a support ticket and am promptly told that I was using third party programs and that the ban would not be lifted, ever.
My response, explaining that the toon had never earned so much as a single exp point, and they could plainly see it, could not have been botting; was replied to with sickening attitude, I was told point blank that the system doesn't make mistakes, this piece of software, apparently, is the first software in the world with no bugs, and the only automated system known to man that can't false positive. I was told that no more tickets from me would be reviewed, that I was being ignored. It was rude, I had no chance to converse with anyone, and nobody made an effort to confirm that my ban was proper.
Mentioning it on the forum simply met with swarms of halfwits screaming at me because I was obviously a cheater, a liar, an abortion clinic bomber, etc.
It took me over two months to get that account back, and I had to contract a 3rd party arbitrator to do so, and a few days later NC bans my eviscerator, that I had just made, just gotten to 85, and just put my boss jewels (and most of my adena) on. I'm pretty sure it was revenge for winning even a small argument with NCWest (can't have that, can we?).
So I, as a simple, casual player that has never gotten past 90 on any toon in the last 9 years, view this announcement with a certain amount of cringe. Are bots and scripters going to get banned? Maybe a few. More likely swarms of regular, non-cheating players will get hammered and lose their characters forever, while the cheaters get a couple weeks on the island and then go right back to automating the entire game as soon as you-know-who figures out how to evade the new system. (I give it 10 days to 2 weeks, tops.)

Actully the guy has a point... According to f2p market statistics -> its the 10% who actually pay most of the money gaming companies get. These players are denominated as "Whales".

The name wasn't free again anyway, it was still taken. I didn't fight to get back a name, I got ****** off and decided I wasn't going to let NCWest get away with treating me like crap (well, at least once.)
I didn't buy a 3rd party software, I contracted an arbitration service to settle a dispute. It's a legal option, not a program.

I have to agree that the guy had gone a distance to get his lvl1 dwarf back^_^ Not to mention that he even mentions that he used a "service" to get the ban that is usually marketed in Adena sales sites^_^
Not sure about the claim him being Martel though. To throw in another type of conspiracy theory is to say that it could be anyone from Nova.
Before L2 went f2p in 2011 - I checked Nova's Clan/alliance site/forums and found that they had a section open for public where you can trade Characters. You just needed to have someone to vouch for you from Nova.

Any person with the required IQ will have around 2 chances:
1, based on the real truth, noone will be banned, everyone will use the software because of the real proof
2, quit
Between the server - client structure, every 3rd party software that attempt to connect is sending packages and can be found easily by tracking down the source. From day one, an administrator can easily find who cheats and who not.
Simple methods are 1) Precaution 2) Real time protection
1) Precaution is pretty hard method that needs high encrypted algorith to calculate
any possible attempt of any 3rd party software. The possible result of this method is to block any player that tries to log in to the server using a cheating 3rd party software. The algorithm plays the role of the big filtering wall between client and server. The request-response messaging pattern is specific due to the original architecture. An algorith that counts abnormalites can do all the job and send the correct info to the administrators. This algorithm can 1) block the entry (if its highly created) 2) Sending the correct info to the admin.
2) Real time protection is the next step of precaution method. A simple anticheat program cannot ban. Can monitoring and block entry. So, an admin can use all the info from precaution algorithm and ban the client who tried to cheat. Simple as that.
At the bottom line i want to tell to these ignorance cheating fellows, that any admin knows WHEN and HOW a client is cheating or tried to. If the ban action wasn't taken so far, is another discusion. Its pretty funny to listen all these years phrases like "I monitor my pc when i bot, i will avoid any gm" or "I use specific features of cheating they cannot be found". Data packages CANNOT BE SEEN IN CLIENT MONITOR.
Whoever cheated so far, all these years in this game, say a big THANK YOU to the admins
that you didn't get a ban. The packages that intervene between Server / Client are more than crystal clear. I am programmer for enough years to just know how things works.

I play this game 10 years and i know almost everyone from all servers, 98% ppl's from 1st/2nd/3rd places clans using 3rd prog. also statistics from Z saying everything, where near 10,000 users using subscription (to let you know, mass bots like WC/ertheia does not using Z) so the numbers saying everything, how many players using 3rd progms. Only some randoms who have no idea about l2, about what happening here for last 12 years, can cry about bots lol.
from 10% 'legit' ppl 5% from them crying about bots on forum. From 100% bot-reports 90% is reporting bot vs bot to win something this way...
All this situation with bots is about Ncsoft don't have even 1 alive GM who know situation on servers from game, who loging to game and know ppl and clans, this all happening from console, where for GM you are just ID account. To understand game, and game problems, need play... not only reading reports and cry-babies on forum.
My clan has a castle, i've made hero on chronos - never used 3rd party software, it isnt necessary.
I hope all you cheaters get banned, and the game becomes playable again. Although the unfair advantage you have racked up over the past few years is still insane if you never cheated again.

When will the bots start to get ban?. This story is so full of BS. Innocent people don't get banned, no one would go through all that trouble for a lvl 1 name place holder. How long did you want to save the name, before you actually created the toon to actually play, that was going to use that name?

not everyone still had all the needed details to reclaim their accounts due to old email accounts / proof of original account creation & payment transactions etc as that's what Support demanded at the time before they would even consider looking at the case so yeah many people did loose accounts in those days..
something else: banned char names get locked forever in the database and only when NC deletes those records or when a server merger happens aka the associated server id changes do those names become available again

Have easy tactic for NCsoft. Just need do work step by step.
Kick from server low-high noname botters who just for farm and selling adena.
Make normal rules with real live ppl and try to reduce the use of scripts.
1. For 1st time do payment for greating account like 5$. Real live people will pay this money for new accs, farmers/botter - no.
2. 30 min per day any 1 GM on each server cam just check and kick/block all trains (easy for check) to GM camera. I don't think this farmers will do petitions so much for this chars and rly no sence.
3. Do normal rules vs scripts and bans for 14/7/perma like before if rly want this.

It's no matter who use what, it's about cry-randoms who come and play 2 weeks or 2 months and quit or after one year coming back for another 2 weeks and they think, they have any rights to talk about l2 and about situation on our servers.

Make normal rules with real live ppl and try to reduce the use of scripts.
1. For 1st time do payment for greating account like 5$. Real live people will pay this money for new accs, farmers/botter - no.
2. 30 min per day any 1 GM on each server cam just check and kick/block all trains (easy for check) to GM camera. I don't think this farmers will do petitions so much for this chars and rly no sence.
3. Do normal rules vs scripts and bans for 14/7/perma like before if rly want this.
And for lowbie ppl try to use head ;) or my bot army will rush you even on real life!1

This story is so full of BS. Innocent people don't get banned,Incorrect, I was mass banned many time due to living in Japan (US Military) playing on a US server. Japan has their own server. I was told I must be a RMT farmer. This was back when NC had active GMs and cared about bots...at-least made you think they did.
That actually did happen and to many ppl.. NC has a bit of a bad track record of mass ban cases based on faulty assumptions like when BattlePing/WTFast users all got flagged as cheaters etc.
So let's see how this goes as the end result is what matters and patience is a virtue ;)Everytime I was banned was from mass IP ban.

I got my accounts back every time. I had all the right proof needed. It happened so many time that eventually NCsoft asked for a list of my accounts and it hasn't happened again since.
I play this game 10 years and i know almost everyone from all servers, 98% ppl's from 1st/2nd/3rd places clans using 3rd prog.
One ban wave and half if not 80% will quit this game, beacuse noone will play lineage 2 legit.
If all of those "98% ppl from top clans" got banned (wishful thinking, I know), nobody would miss them at all.
If all of those "top pvp clans" (which are, in fact, nothing but a bunch of totally handless, useless, worthless nobodies) were gone, the servers would have instantly become a much better place to play an enjoy the game, be it pvp or pve.
Don't flatter yourself, stop trying to persuade us that the L2 world revolves around you.

It's called a market correction. Once bots are gone, item prices will lower because there will be less adena in the market.

Well after login just 5 minutes after maintenance finished. The first chars i saw were the bots at seed of annihilation collecting energies. So seems that this bot detection is not working yet. So at least 1 more week free to bot... I will check again next week after maintenance to see if bots are gone and i can start to play again.

Detection isnt the same as prevention. And this just means that the mains of those people running the trains can be banned more effectively which is more important than those bots running in low level areas that get banned regurarly anyway.

As long as you re on the computer then sure, cant program a keyboard to be intelligent aka popping potions when you need them, only to do at time intervals regardless, thats the difference between macros and bots.

Are you still going to be banning people who are playing legit, at keys with no programs, but are in party with people who are using programs? I know a lot of people use programs in PvE, but will deny it. If you're going to enforce, do I have to solo because I can't be sure who's using programs?

Having this new "anti-bot" software will have its pros and cons but overall it will bring more pros than cons like for example Gainak Village everyone will be able to compete on this spot which were usually farmed nowadays by bots or whatever you call them. Market prices will be much better since the raids and other stuff will not be monopolize by Top clans,Farmers, and/or botters. Ofc there are cons as well like yes there will be probably people who will leave this game and quit cause they are too weak and incompetitive to compete using their hands.

PvP Scripts are destroying the game because against a legit player it give too much advantages and the fight can not be balanced,but you already know that, auto target and auto skill the weakest opponents, priority on those without nobless, interrupt skill, auto topaz, auto disparition, auto hp pots, evade topaz, anti back stab, anti hide and automated gameplay....

with perma ban you know your char is still there and maybe some day you will be unbanned, but no such thing if you delete it.
they can't do that for many reasons, the most simplest reason is that if they delete the account all records tied to it are gone as well so they can just create a new char with even the same name etc.
NC has records of all chars created per server in their database going back to even Closed Beta Bartz server.. they did a clean up on the active servers 1 time in the past just to improve the server maintenance down times which did delete all accounts banned/inactive for more then 3 years but that was more like a 1 time deal as many old players that decided to return to the game got upset when they found out some of their chars were deleted as result of this..

This would actually make it easier to identify diehard cheaters. If for example a banned player who had his iMartelx account deleted decided for whatever reasons to draw attention to himself by creating a character with the name of iMartelx (or imDMartelx) again then he is making work for the Game Surveillance Unit that much easier.
I personally advocate account deletion for simple educational reasons. Children must learn that certain things can not be undone, no matter how often they say "I am sorry and won't do it again".
And yes, I know that there will be false positives and innocents getting slain, but in modern warfare 10% collateral damage is absolutely acceptable. The few truly innocents may consider themselves as martyrs for the good cause :)
And there will really be very few truly innocent players. Depending on how you define cheating, most players are guilty and fully deserve death, even if it's just for selling items to other players while knowing fully well that basically all of the adena on our servers is botted. In the case of a server wipe, onyl a few dozen sub-20 players who have not yet sold any Enchantment Scrolls to the buy shops in Gludio would actually be innocent victims.
So, Juji, just go ahead and kill them all. There are DDOS attacks on Chronos (http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?p=3530031#post3530031)? So drive out to Austin and throw the Chronos server into a swimming pool. No business for nobody. This will teach those wombats not to mess with NCsoft.
I've played this game from beginning, most of you claiming to be legit aren't, not saying all. I already quit, it's a FACT tons will quit! Will the 10-20% legit be enough to keep the servers up, we will see. Will all the old player who quit come back? Doubt it. If they do, will they stay? Doubt it, The game has nothing fun to offer anymore. Same dailies x2 day in and out. New grind spots will be fun for a week, fact is, people won't do that anymore. If you can't farm gainak now, you won't be able to then either. If your not spending 20+$$ a day your not a contributor to keeping the servers open. How many of those players can NC afford to lose? That's the question. I don't support 3rd party software but it's way to late to stop it now.

At least i can speak of Chronos server, which im playing on since 2006 wt a month of break...
NCsoft can be confident to this planned step, as for an example, the present status quo:
On chronos there is just "small" pvp clans left where nova and ICA r maybe the "biggest" of them (as "small" I consider: a less than 80 real and active players clan,no alts).
In contrary there is at least 4 "big" clans on Chronos that choose to not war common pvp clans anymore due to often mentioned reasons and origin of this post.
These have been trying and still are trying their best keeping their clans clean of cheats with max efforts up to this day. And I can guarantee you at least with one of em (since i have been active clanleader there since 10 years)- I would hold my hands inside a fire to say 95%+ of my members are LEGIT and always been. ( 5-x)% possibly hide it well from leaders and wasnt detected and kicked yet, I dont know.
So my clan has 250+ real players, when average around 50 are short-periodically inactive and untag for 4-16 weeks due rl responsibilities ( takes us alot of efforts manage this via whatsapp/fb grps etc, but ncsoft not increasing the clansize doesnt give us any other option).
Long story short: these 4 big clans together solely are over 800 real palyers with similiar % part of legits. Not counting all these small legit clans around and legit pvpclan players. There would be a far less lost of active players as seceptics would suspect (maybe never experienced a legit clanleader but doesnt matter) and Im very optimisitic that the few players who actually cheat and get ban due to said measurements, can be easily compensated with returning or new players.
GMs know exactly the clans and numbers of these clans and if a few Nccoin user would be found as guilty and banned - Its not noticable in Ncstore purchases. When my ally consists of 20% + of chronos server players alone, and so many other legit friends who we made over the last 10 years - no way that only 5-20% of the remaining players are legit! (speaking of Chronos)

Well I heard its just 3 days but yes this is a good start this 3 days restriction should serve as a good warning to those who uses illegal stuff cause lets be honest as how this game is structured there are literally no reasons for you to bot or whatsoever to get exp just from instances alone like AF instance and kamaloka if done right and with runes ofc the amount of exp you'll get is a lot better than lets say exping in AF. So players who uses bots are mostly using it not for exp but to get the upper hand against other players in terms of pvp which is something that NCWest should've had stopped long long time ago but I guess better late than never.

Actually that's a bad business practice, any customer that offends other customers of mine had no place in my company. Since the legits barely offend anybody, you know whos the one to go. Better many small loyal customers than, few bigger ones that are actually scaring away all the rest.
Also I think NCSoft had enough of the cheaters.The game is very old now, even if they have to close the servers after the cheaters have been gone for some time, at least they will be known for having the balls to do it.

5% ppl of 10% legin peoples crying about bots.
Problems isn't using 3rd prog. but no alive gm that can take action against low-lvl bots for farm adena.
One ban wave and half if not 80% will quit this game, beacuse noone will play lineage 2 legit. Same situation was one year ago, when ncsoft banned almost all for 14 days, after this 35% of population quited game. I belive if there will be any ban action, after 2 weeks it gonna be closed or everyone will quit.

Unlock account 1st attempt= 5.000nc coins (this will allow your account get unbaned only if it was banned just 1 time)
Unlock account 2nd attempt=10.000nc coins ( this will allow your account get unbanned if you have been banned for 2 times since account created)
next will be 15k - 20k etc this will make nc get more profit and pay the gms that are doing the job of ban cheaters.
