I want to ask the players if they want permanent banns or a rule that your account can not be permanent banned.
I want the players to vote and then the team of ncsoft to listen the people that play their servers.
My thoughts are these:yes no one like the cheaters and they should be banned but for me not permanent. For example a mistake can happen like a friend of mine who decided to transfer from chronos to shilen server and some ppl asked him to move items for them, then my friend got banned cause the other guys gave him items they bought with buged adene from lotery.
There can be given a lot of examples but in general even in the bible is said we have to forgive :p
Here is the most important. If you know you can not get perma ban you will invest more money in your character, the player base will be more nc soft will receive more money.More players in game=better economy and more happy people.
What I suggest is if you catch someone cheating bann him 1 week then on the next they if he cheat again bann him 2 weeks then another 2 weeks and he will stop.
Instant perm ban if found using any bot soft. This is a major offence and in any game out there such activities are punished by perm ban, why l2 to be any different, especially if that's what it suffers most of?
Depends on seriousness of the act.
i.e someone who started scripting to keep up with competition - a few week temporary ban is OK.
i.e someone who has been botting a year with several bot trains to earn adena - permanent ban on all toons found connected to him.
Of course if someone is caught again after their previous ban = permanent.
That is my view of how things should be ;)
Also I want to use this thread and ask juji to tell if this keyboards are against the rules? Can we use them ?
I think I can see where there may be some confusion over our position on the use of hardware such as the Logitech G15, Nostromo or other programmable game devices. In actuality, our position regarding the use of these devices has never changed. It has always been against the rules when these devices are used to automate game play in a manner not possible through normal game play.
The best way to determine if how you are using these devices is a violation or not is by asking yourself "Can a normal keyboard/mouse combination replicate the same behavior?" If how you are using the programmable device can be done through a regular mouse/keyboard combination, then you won't have anything to worry about.
One example I often hear of is spamming CP potions. These devices can be setup to endlessly spam CP potions with the push of a button. Repeatedly consuming CP potions is possible through the use of a regular keyboard by setting up a hotkey and just holding down the hotkey on the keyboard. The difference is if the programmable device is somehow able to detect the character's CP level and automatically start spamming CP potions at a specific level and then automatically stop spamming the CP potions at a specific level.
There is a very distinguishable difference between using these devices to facilitate game play compared to using these devices to automate game play. We're looking for and testing for the automation. If the character is found to be exhibiting behavior that cannot be replicated through the use of a normal keyboard/mouse setup, then the character is considered to be "botting" even if they are only using a programmable device like the Logitech G15 or Nostromo.
To the op. Actually this game has more than 80% players bots, so what do you think most people will vote in the poll? A perma ban and lose all their chars ? I think no. I voted perman ban ofc but i think that bot owners will vote not to perma and this option will win in the end :(

if what you say is true, then you are basically saying ban 80% of the player base....do you think this game will survive if such a thing is done? i for one would rather have an escalating ban system that gets longer and longer overtime, this is a business after all for ncsoft dont get carried away and make the game commit suicide, removing the cancer would kill the patient so to speak.
Any bot or script = immediate insta ban, on all related accounts.
Even if its just a script to buy stuff from AH that was used.
For the ones that seem to worry about our servers becoming empty due to perma-bans, here's the thing:
-> We have a big announcement about new bot/script detection method incoming. It may come any day now, maybe without another notification. Hopefully even.
-> We have a big new update around the corner to be released on 29th June.
Thats two very darn good reasons to stop whatever 3rd party-crap anyone is using right now.
The ones that are STILL using whatever stuff now because they are 100% dependent or just too dumb to care: Let them kiss the banhammer.
First for economic reasons. Cheaters often have an excessive amount of wealth. When their accounts are deleted, that wealth is removed from the servers, which will lead to an overall drop of prices.
Then there is the punishment aspect. It can't be that somebody commits a crime, the says "sorry, I won't do it again" and gets away scot free, getting to keep his or her ill-gotten gains. Deleting the account of an endgame player is equivalent of levying a fine of several thousand dollars (the equipment that goes up in smoke). This will satisfy the need for revenge among the legit player base and encourage them at the same time to stay legit themselves. You must drive home the lesson that crime does not pay off.
And perma bans will also clean out the player base from undesirable elements. People do what they do because they are what they are, and precisely because they are what they are, they will again and again do what they do. Cheaters will cheat; if botting is made technically impossible, they will resort to trade scamming, writing false prices on their shop signs etc. You really don't want that scum on the servers. Vermin must be exterminated!
Have to ban it, the use of Bot spoils the game and the worst, the guy who uses Bot addition to committing crime against the rules of the game, love to laugh at the guy who is honest, a pvp even an honest player will never defeat one Bot user because the program that controls the persongem proves more effective at all, and also spoils the economy of the game, because adena, items, the best items are in the hands of a group of people and clan group, it has clan there, which most players use the bot to drop items to evolve characters, to fight Olympics and thus become hero, to fight COC to get the winning item of COC and honest players are there getting more weak. That's what kills the Lineage 2, see if this is the World of Warcraft, the game has about 8 million players, precisely because they very oversee the game from malicious players.
So easy to find out if a user uses Bot, in the same Olympics, the pattern of users who use Bot is virtually identical, just observe, the COC the same. Want another pattern, people often use Bot for example, and strong clan and well equipped, at the end of the fight they give restart always noticed that when some first I on the screen, I send pm just to check, what is the player who will have the patience to stay all the time giving restart the game? You have to ban rather have players that in less than two weeks arrived at level top of this current expansion of Lineage 2 and it is impossible, even buying XP packages in the NCsoft store.
Permanent bans = They are actually enforcing their game rules.
Temporary bans= Slap on the wrist and go sit in a corner and think about why your there. Then we'll let you come back and break the rules again, so you can go back to your corner.
So moral of that story is simple. If you don't permanent ban and make sure they can't get back in. They will get back in and break the rules again and laugh in your face. So you basically don't accomplish anything at all with a temporary ban. But you actually might if it's a shared family game acct. One of the kids get's their parents acct temporarily banned and the parent might actually do something to make sure it doesn't happen again.
So yea I kinda do say that we can do both types to start cleaning up the game. But if folks were already banned before and you catch them with this new program. Then permanent ban them and throw everything they own into the AH for other players to legitimately buy. No point in having all that wealth of gear going to waste on banned acct's. Could always hold a contest and put the banned players name up saying they donated their stuff . To be used as the prize. Catch the player re buying his own gear with another acct and you get that acct banned as well :)
My two bits.
1) They have not been reliably enforcing the rules for a VERY long time now.
2) This has bred a large number of people who have gotten away with a great deal in the game for years.
3) It has also led to a number of people picking up 3rd party program use just to keep on a somewhat even playing field.
With that in mind, they need to let people know when they are going to start enforcing the rules. IE: "In 2 weeks we turn this on" and then go from there.
Because of NC's history, I guarantee you a lot of this will be ignored. Within a couple weeks of the start date people will start again unless they hear about action actually being taken.
So I suggest temp bans to start with for most. RMT/Bot/PvP scripts. One week ban, right off the start.
Good for a one time only warning. If someone is caught after that? Full on perma ban.
After say a month or so, start enforcing a 0 tolerance policy. No more strikes, no more chances. You get caught you are gone. The end.
Of course, this all hinges on NC not only policing the game for a few weeks, but permanently... I don't see that happening. This new anit bot system is likely yet another automated bandaid that people will find a way around in a few days/weeks, or maybe a few months at absolute most.
Perm ban. If the scumbag cheater wants to play more, let him/her start from scratch. Maybe they'll learn, but most likely not. Why show lenience towards offenders?

Perma-banning cheaters when most players are cheaters is not a very good economic decision. The people that post on official boards are the minority of the players on NCwest servers. If you catch someone cheating it should be a one week ban or maybe lock them out of siege/boss/olympiad content for next re-spawns/siege cycle. Another way is to potentially give them a character penalty where you cannot earn exp or gold from hunting for a month unless you purchase something to lift it from the NCstore. That would bring a substantial penalty and increase revenue for NCwest while not injuring their player-base while essentially neutering PvE bots since most PvE bots won't lift it off their characters rendering them useless.

Hmmm.... so a guy go rob your house, you go tell the judge "give him a chance, he only rob houses and did not murder anyone, just ask him do charity work or he can pay a fine"

I don't think cheating in a video game is on par with murder...maybe taking PEDs in a sport and a better comparison is "paying bail for a prison sentence"
Voted perma ban for reasons like Yidao made, because it's a logical explanation and it is confirmed in IRL. Studying ecconomics pays off from time to time, even in-game.
I would be very happy to see the prices drop, so the normal lower lvled players could afford a R99 set when they hit 99, since the lvling up part is so easy nowadays and obtaining money is still a pain for some people.
Especially when Helios will come around, the instances will get more xp / will need less xp for lvling up, noone will be able to keep up with the lvling up will be stuck with immo/tw sets until 100 lol. I already here and now see some situations, where some people are still with Immo/Tw with Apoc weapons and are close to 99 /100 ... It makes me kinda sad. Makes me wanna help them all, but when the eccenomy is so bad, and noone is buying cause of overpricing (trust me, I'm really struggling selling my enchanted stuff atm)

Your ideology of economics is quite flawed. If the 95% of the people making shoes go to prison, the price of shoes does not go down...it goes up due to scarcity since production dropped immensely. On top of that, the people that (in this case) immediately come back out of prison need shoes since (in this case) the government stole their shoes, so now they are purchasing new shoes which increases the demand for shoes which would most likely increase prices as well making it harder for the less fortunate to buy Air Jordans [Eternal] so they have to settle for the free [Immortal] sandals that the government [NcSoft] provides for them since they are already taxing everyone so hard that they cannot feed their themselves let alone buy new shoes.

Your ideology of shoe prices is totally flawed. When everybody above a monthly income of 200 dollars is executed as running dog of the imperialist capitalists, the price of shoes will go down. It did in North Korea and Cambodia. Why do you think the prices in the NCWest L2Store are half of those at NCKorea? Because in third world countries like the USA there is simply not as much money floating around as in Korea. Poverty always leads to low prices.

Yes but legit players by definition do not buy adena (even though most "legit" players buy a ton of adena), and there is a huge amount of old botted/farmed adena that isn't going to disappear even with banning and this isn't real life...people don't get executed and stay executed.

That's the whole point of this poll - to make sure that the executed stay executed. Cheaters must be made terminally dead, their accounts deleted, all backups wiped, all records erased, so that they can not be unbanned again.
Once an account is deleted, all items, all adena on that account vanish from the server. If we go by your own statistics about people using 3rd party software, this should lead to a drop of at least 50% in the amount of adena that is in circulation, much more if we concede that cheaters are richer than legit players. Of course there are some Dwarves like socketka who have accumulated considerable wealth without using software, simply through trade skills. Right after a ban wave they will be, relatively speaking, much richer than the majority of the population. But sooner or later they will be forced to lower their prices, losing their tycoon status, when nobody has the adena to pay them any more.
Perma-banning cheaters when most players are cheaters is not a very good economic decisionAt some stage in a game's life, a company should care a bit about integrity. I can say without hesitation to ban permanently. I come from a mentality that if you need to cheat in any fashion on a game, it's no longer worth playing. The point of the game is to follow the rules and enjoy it. If people can't simply follow the rules, they shouldn't be allowed to play at all. You're all free to start a new account, and start all over again. There, that's your answer to a perma ban..you can start a new account and play again! If the game is too hard or too grindy for you and you feel you need a bot program to lvl up, then the game is not for you. If you feel you need scripts to gain an edge in pvp so you can take castles and win wars, then the game is not for you. The second you cheat, you admit you're not good at the game. You admit you don't care about the rules. You admit that you're an outlaw. You admit that you know you should be banned. Short answer: follow the rules or get the hell out.
If you're not a cheater, you should welcome this with open arms! Nothing to hide! Finally NC cares! Finally I can play a fair game! Even a smidge of concern about a perma ban here shows you have at least a little bit of a demon somewhere...if you don't cheat, why do you care? Perma ban away! Woo hoo!
I don't think cheating in a video game is on par with murderIt's not, but the crime / punishment is relative.
In life, you kill, you go to prison...sometimes death sentence.
In a game, there is no murder, but the digital equivalent is cheating. That and rmt are about as big and bad a crime as you can commit as a player..
So in a game, you bot, you should go to prison as well (ban). A week ban doesn't teach a lesson, it shows the crime is acceptable with minimal penalties. Anybody with gamer ethic wouldn't want in on that kind of a circus, let alone put any money into it.

A week ban? I think most people got 72 hours, which is pretty lol since people will miss olympiad and sieges. I voted for perma ban, but I'm ok with this 72 hours since hopefully they got the point across now. My hope is that people start playing legit now, which I know is a fantasy. As long as Juji follows this temp bans, with perma bans if people are dumb enough to continue scripting, then game will be much better. If people continue to script after getting temp ban, and they do not receive perma ban if caught again, I will quit game. Already planned on it if anti bot didn't work.
this is ridiculous .. why you ask. well thru out the 12 years that lineage2 has existed.. the rule always has been by ncsoft to automatically ban people who cheat.. they even announce it on annoucement ingame. yet.. ncsoft temporally ban these characters that have been found by them to cheat.there are some individuals who have been ban 4 times and their accounts are still active. they run arround braging about it. this is why people dont stop cheating. they know oh ill never get a perma ban.

Perma bans lead to lower prices.
There are a few problems with this however.
For one. The biggest issue I have is that cheating in L2 is currently like jay walking in most places in the USA.
It's illegal... but there's been little to no enforcement, and often just a slap on the wrist.
This has led to rampant cheating even from many who may not normally have ever done so.
It's like swapping out the rent a cop who holds the door open for you as you steal things with the punisher who shoots you through the head the moment you step out the door.
I proposed a very limited time offer simply because there will be those who can/will quit doing anything illegal in game the moment it becomes clear that they no longer need to do so just to keep up with their competition in game.
And then there will be those who take the risk and will use that one chance, or will test their luck at a later date when there no longer is a one shot to use up.
As for the economics. The reality is you just won't know.
This isn't the old l2 anymore. There isn't a thriving market in game, at least not on Chronos. Materials are a pain to gather, and most of them are gathered by farmers.
If they ban anyone who cheats right from the start, it's hard to say how many will be gone. It depends how they do it I suppose. If it's a line in the sand from the moment they switch it on, or if they are going to dig back a ways to catch people... It could be the loss of just a bunch of farming toons, the loss of a lots of top players, or a massive sweeping loss of accounts all across the game.
Although I still say it's a moot point. The likelihood of the bans being widespread and kept up is unlikely. I say that simply because nothing in the history of L2 has shown NC's willingness to stay ahead of the cheaters.
So this poll, while a fun thought exercise, is likely only going to come down in reality to, "How should NC handle the cheaters they catch for the first few weeks/months until the new system is bypassed and things resume to how they were?".

I'd love to be proven wrong however.
History repeating itself,
Before every update they clean house, every year.
But before the Big Updates the last being the Erthiea one
They have made examples out of a few out of control violators.
The ones caught to many times and do it all the time will not be back.
NCWest is not even close to care about bots, they ban the Script players and 1 week later they are "playing" again, they just ban the "popular" players, so everybody think that the bot era is over, but no. This is my 3rd year trying to play Lineage II again, but everytime I log in, or create another char to support my main, I see bots, everywhere. Sea of Spores, Garden of Genesis (full pt 24/7) etc etc. Lineage II is dead, is hard to say and sad to know, but is the truth. Private servers have less bots then the official one... (Sorry for my really, really bad english :D)

if we all use Zr and cheat and play like this Winner does than Ncsoft couldn't Possibly ban us all :) LOL

Perma bans lead to lower prices.
You are way incorrect. Have you ever tried to actually farm a piece of end-game gear in today's Lineage II? I've played L2 at the top tier ever since B grade was the best gear you could get and upgrading your gear by yourself or even with the help of an entire party is harder than it has ever been excluding NCstore which is pretty much the same this as ebaying adena. You can run multiple bot parties 24/7 everyday turning in all the daily quests exping at top areas for MONTHS right now without earning enough materials to craft one full Eternal set. The market would crash and become chaotic. Some things would explode in price and others drop.
If this were 2006, I would say perma ban all the cheaters before this problem gets out of hand. Unfortunately it is now 2016, these servers for LineageII have been run by complete buffoons ( Especially NC_Sparse and HGM_Spam ) for a decade that let cheating get completely out of control to the point where more people cheat than don't cheat. I honestly feel awful for Juji for this shi t show that he inherited a couple years ago.

You still don't understand it. Since basically all end-game players are cheaters there will be no more end-game gear once the vermin has been exterminated. Everybody will be playing in Immortal and Requiem, which, being elemented with the Stones from the lvl 76~81 Kekropus quests, is absolutely adequate for PvE until the late 90s, and with the fairly easy Giants' Caves coming up, even until lvl 103. Nobody needs Eternal - in the Arena (http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=1639#p33308) everybody starts out with No-Grade gear and the maximum is Dynasty. People are still having tons of fun: http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=1265&start=850#p33431

This!!
Martel and others, you can go on with your propaganda, but we will never believe robots will be necessary for the game (except robots themselves ofc)
The posts in the forums regarding bans/bots/scripts are just simply hilarious this servers and players have been so corrupt and addicted to cheating to the point that they simply cannot play without it. How can you even be proud of your accomplishments in-game if all of it was with the help of cheating. Truth be told this road NCWest is trying to go through is rough from the start but in the end the fruit of labor is just too great to be ignored just look at L2 Core, L2 Core is a semi-legit server with good and well balanced economy and healthy competitive server due to the fact that there are no players who can use pvp scripts there so even if you have literally everything in this game someone with lesser gears but who is more talented than you will whoop your 4ss. Just accept the fact that the era of botting and cheating is done. Cheat at your own expense.
And from here on out the cheaters has to make choices either quit cause he/she is incompetent to actually be something in this game without scripts, or continue playing legit and prove to yourself and to any doubters and haters that you are as good even without scripts or just go on and keep using them and risk getting ban and losing everything.
To the op. Actually this game has more than 80% players bots, so what do you think most people will vote in the poll? A perma ban and lose all their chars ? I think no. I voted perman ban ofc but i think that bot owners will vote not to perma and this option will win in the end :(
BS playing the game as intended is the count at least in Chronos so depends on the server and the case of the virus spread out severity.
If the game is so unplayable now why the people even pay to play the game in Korea?
To NC Personally i believe if you open the gates for everyone to come in at least place a bouncer to sort it out the unwelcome ones.
ADENA BUYERS' accounts
(Yes I mean all of you who ever bought adena, be it a month ago or 10 years ago.);
PvP script users accounts.
The rest is optional (since it's pretty much useless to try and stop random low lvl bots).
Just ban the richest and strongest, the rest will get the message.
:rolleyes::rolleyes: YES YES YES PLIS PLIS PLIS. Its a serious acuse of distroing game by useing 3rd soft there fore make them pay 2 x 3 x same amount of cash on nccoins , Because they scamed ncsoft, by using 2rd softs programs. Insted of buyng runes 1 2 3 times to lvl up to lvl 103, they bought 1 time farmed 24/7 on bot party and reached the same lvl , with low cost. Its like flyng to Dubay on a penguin :rolleyes::D:D:D:D

Didn't understand.
automate gameplay in any fashion needs to be killed by any means necessary. Any script and inject any automation is bad and good job. I stopped playin L2 for long time because of automate gameplay use. I am now watching the changes and will be willing to come back. The more post I see about bans the happier I am. An important thing to consider is that cheaters are not usually the ones spending money on the game. Cheaters use mule accounts etc
Permanent ban is like death penalty. If there were a extremewly perfect way of discerning bot/legits then I think it should be perma ban. But as fas as I know, almost 25 persons I know ingame were not boting anymore and still got banned in this 2nd wave so the method of discerning bots/legit is not very accurate. And as all of you can see, there are still tons of bots around. So since we are far from perfection...

Hey Shinji, are you aware of the English word "Hypocrite"? You are one of the most noted botters, at least in Freya. I don't know who you were before you came to Equinox but I know you were a top candidate when they were looking because you already used the system they used to automate their game play. Just stop all this "Legit" B.S. no one that has been to a siege in the last few months believes that your legit. Let it be, let all the legit people voice their admiration and/or frustration with what NCSoft is or isn't doing.
Sorry, off topic.
Everyone go back to your rants about bots being the devil.
Why do you guys still talk about bots' impact on the L2 economy, when the L2Store is the L2 economy now? If the farmers go and we QQ about mats, NCSOFT will put mats in the store for us, no worries.
