SA combination for weapon

Which SA combination for your R99 retributer (or what u have)? Share your opinion, your weapon. Better for PVE. And maybe supposing u have highly OE your Empowering Echo so u don't need casting speed.

I think we should take something from:
Empower
Wild
Mystic
Wild Mystic

I have a Dark Elf Feoh Storm and already have the Max Casting speed 1999 and magic Crit 300+ (330 is the real magic crit cap as I know) already without acumen option on the weapon. Magic damage is the square root of the Magic attack power, so anything Magic critical damage boost is better than anything else.

1st SA = Magic critical damage & 2nd SA = HP(since max 1999 already) + Magic critical damage is the best, I think.

Longing + 6shirt + AQ soul + Istina wizard, Valakas, Venir 12, 3 x Legendary Int + etc.

2nd SA = HP + mcrit dmg, why not try matack?

What shirt+6? AQ soul for sure. Istina wizard ring ok, what about ring of creation instead? I already have mcrit rate around 323 with ring of creation.

Attack skills OE on matack or mcrit rate?
SAs depend on your level, AP, Subskills, Dualskills and if you look to PVE or PVP more.

What DreamSeeker posted is a good general suggestion.

He already explained why not. Matck and dmg done are not linear, like it is for patck and melle toons. To double your dmg, yuo would need to make your mattack 4 times higher, which is no easy feat. The best option, while the only option really is m. crit dmg, unless you have arcane barrier, then maybe you would want to put some MP on your weapon as well.
Enchant attack skills on POWER or WILD? I ask only cause I heard WILD was bugged, so dunno if its working now.
m. crit. damage +7% vs m. att. 6% :
Lets say that every third hit is an m. crit.
for example, base damage=100.

for m. crit. damage +7% : 100 + 100 + (100+107%=207)=407 damage divide by 3 for average of 135.6

for m. att. +6% : 106 + 106 + (106+100%=212)= 424 for average of 141.3

Idk, seems like m. att. is better.

Edit: oh, posted and realized that the 6% mattack would only give effective damage increase of 3%. So 103 + 103 + (103+100%=206)= 412 devide by 3: 137.3. Still a bit more.

not bugged, but capped. You cannot get more than 1/3 crit rate.

So yes, enchant on Power.

6% Matk would increase damage around 1/4, so approx. 1,5%.

hmmmm

What he says is true.
That is why magic herbs give a 400% magic boost, while powerherb gives a 100% boost.
(you need to increase your m. atk 4 times to reach double damage, thus 6% m atk = 1.5% dmg boost)

The same is true for fighters aswell, a 100% P. Atk boost will only give you a 25% increase in skill damage.
(Normal attacks however are doubled by 100%)

m.att.=10'000
damage=sqrt(10'000)=100

m.att.=10'000+300%=40'000
damage=sqrt(40'000)=200 (4x m.att = 2x damage)

m.att.=10'000+6%=10'600
damage=sqrt(10'600)=102.95 -> ~103 (or 6% m.att. increase = 3% damage increse)
Idk why herbs say that they give 400% boost. 100+400% is 500, but 100*400%=400, but the latter cant be true, because then 100*6%= 6, reducing m.att.

try 100*1.06, which is 106.. :p

but hey since you doubt us, grab a magic herb rerb and if you do increase your damage as you say, let us know.
but im willing to bet most of what i own that if you do 10k dmg normally, it will be 20k with herb.

About your empower vs m crit damage thing..
Assume you make 10000 damage, One crit, 2 normal hits.

With a 1.5% increase from empower, you would be doing 10150 damage.
Thats 20300+10150+10150.
With m crit damage, it would be
10000+10000+10700.
Which is higher :)

m.att.=10'000
damage=sqrt(10'000)=100

m.att.=10'000+300%=40'000
damage=sqrt(40'000)=200 (4x m.att = 2x damage)

m.att.=10'000+6%=10'600
damage=sqrt(10'060)=102.95 -> ~103 (or 6% m.att. increase = 3% damage increse)

Did you really just assume the formula of which Magic damage is calculated???
Looks fancy, too bad its pulled out of your behind. :D
Herb does increase damage twofold, yes, im not saying they dont. My problem was the notation.

So how can you say 6% m atk increases your damage by 3%, when obviously it does not? :)

Im not saying anything, I want to understand, so I provide some calculations that, if true, disagree with what you are saying.

That is nowhere near what the formula actually looks like, but the author of that post is right. Where you have
(attacker's patk [a lot of stuff skipped]) DIVIDED BY (defender's pdef [blah blah])
for mages you have
(sqrt(attacker's matk) [a lot of stuff skipped]) DIVIDED BY (defender's mdef [blah blah])

There is a reason why for M.Atk. calculation you have most of the things squared: base matk, INT bonus, CHA bonus, etc. They are all squared to calculate matk, while nothing is squared (base patk, STR bonus, CHA bonus, etc.) while calculating patk.

Unfortunately (perhaps a design oversight), neither the % nor the + bonuses are squared when calculating matk. Which means that if you can pick something else instead of matk increase, you sure better do so.
Ok, but if m.att. matters so little, then isnt it also impractical to stack INT and we should stack something else instead? Like WIT (and remove acumen to make space for something else)

The thing is, you don't really need acumen SA, unless you have weighed your build and calculated it to be the most critical thing that you currently need in Olympiad matches. Elsewhere, including CoC, you should already have 1999 casting speed without any acumen SA (even on DE and without WIT stew). And we are talking a normal feoh setup, not some extreme level 103+ with +5 INT +5 CHA dyes and all top gear (*cough*panormitis*cough*).

Primary things WIT gives are casting speed and mcrit rate, both of which are just too easy to max out, so there's really no point and hence you don't really need to make a choice here. Same as for the Air Rider - you shouldn't enchant it on the Acumen route: the marginal matk increase is still better than +0 casting speed.

In any case, you are free to take all advice with a grain of salt and test each route yourself. Obviously, that can be quite expensive, but then you will know exactly why this is the recommended route.
Ok, thanks for all the replies.
I am feoh 98 and yes, I get max cast speed,but I do have acumen, for now, but not sure how Dark Elves - do you mean DElves with cast. speed as sub and dual class skills (and, perhaps, ability points when at lvl 99)? I didnt take cast. speed at those. What am I missing? Wit+3 hat (dont have this)? Venir(got this)? Octavis shirt(got this)? .. WIT bracelet?
You should be getting plenty of WIT from all-stat boosting items/skills, such as:

Zodiac Agathion level 2+
Longing/Insanity
Venir
(Shiny) Elemental Shirt
Adventurer's bracelet (before you switch to Dim Bracelet +6 INT); though if you do intend to have the ssq talisman or anakim, then yeah, Aria's bracelet from Tauti doesn't have WIT bonus
Emerald (until you can get better stuff)
Dignity of the Exalted

So even with a dark elf you can be looking at 90 WIT without any dyes/stew/hair accessory, which should technically cover you. Even at lower levels you should have 1999 casting speed when fully buffed.
Thats normal feoh setup? Some of the stuff isnt even avaiable without ncoin, is it?

Only the elemental shirts, due to their untradable nature. Everything else can be obtained by spending adena.

This doesn't imply you should start with Venir 24, Insanity, Shiny +10 and Emerald Level 5. But then again, you knew you will have to spend truckloads when choosing a Feoh, didn't you? And not only for bssr.
Fair enough
