There has been some interesting predictions for the future made by various people, but I think the next one is the most probable one made by the Chief Engineer of Google, "Ray Kurzweil."
This is what's gonna happen in the next 40 years.
1. with the development of stem cell technology, people will no longer require medicine, surgery or treatment when their body get sick. They will simply replace the old organs with new ones.
2. TV and cellphones will disappear. People will have a small device implemented to their body and will have the access to the internet directly with their brain.
3. People's mind will acquire the ability to travel to the machines. Yes...human mind can now move from the physical flesh and blood body to the cyber-space.
4. individual minds can come together to form a single collective mind and can share knowledge & experience and can now live forever in cyber-space.
5. Whenever a person wants, s/he can move from the machine mind to the real world again by constructing a brand new body. The concept of young&old, beautiful&ugly, male&female will disappear, because a mind can be reborn in whatever the form it chooses to...
6. A mind can copy the memories of the real world and can create his or her own virtual world, looking and feeling exactly like the real world and live in there forever...kinda like the movie, "Matrix."
7. when a mind gets BORED with the eternal life, it can choose to wipe out all the memories and can be reborn as a baby again.
Believe me or not...this is what's coming in the next 40 years or so.
