Disappointed

The most ridiculous changes of the lineage 2 in the 5 years since GOD are the adena rates.

Several years ago mobs drop me +1000 adenas in 30-50 level, now the rate is veryy low. The mobs +80 drop me 100/200 adenas, what f-uck is this? That doesn't drop nor Talking Island gremlins...

I think is a complete lack of consideration to the players and their effort, taking these measures without asking a general opinion of the players, specially after the loss of players since 2010/2011 (no need to remember by why).

For this I prefer back to paying monthly fee and play original lineage 2.

And the l2Store... I better shut the insult. Looks more like a store donations of a private server.

What a way to ruin a great game...f-ucking fools.

I apologize whit the comunity with this topic, but my disappoinment with the company and its new policy about the game is complete. Is absurd, ridiculous and a big s-hit.

I've been time without playing but now what I do? Search private server for play the old l2 classic without l2store and ncsoft strategies and leave my characters?

Characters, items and more... for nothing. What a waste of time...

Pdt: Naia server is increasingly empty.
That's the reality of this game the reason no new players are joining this servers and current/old players are leaving is because not only its impossible to catch up and be competitive PvP/PvE wise without spending a single dime because of the drop rate is beyond mediocre but if you do decide to spend cash you'll need to spend a couple of hundred bucks and pray to sweet baby jesus that you'll be lucky enough through events and earn adena enough to compensate for the money you spend of to which the odds are more times than not against you since the prices of their products during events are insanely and unreasonably expensive.

So bottom line is if you love this game and still wishes to enjoy it better play it on some private server or if you do like to play in an official server I suggest starting on Core where prices are a bit cheaper but ofc same situation as well still a pay to win server nonetheless the silver lining there is that at least the GM's are more active there :)
That's the reality of L2 last few years.Once you are past certain point, it's no use to play anymore, because playing a game primary goal is to have fun by achieving something in that game by playing it, but not in this game, here you have to buy the achievement.

And this brings the vital question - Why play if I can't achieve anything by playing the game?
Nothing drops anywhere, many items are available only via the store and from that comes another logical question - If I can buy everything from the store, why do I play this thing? ( since you've got all there is from the store)

Some ppl like to resort to excuses like "I play because of my friends" or "I enjoy the game my own way".Truth is that they are all addicted and that's why they still play and pay to catch up here and there.
Also most ppl ended up putting value to items, by relating t to the l2 store, since they got no other orientation of item flow ingame, which really is very very sad, meeting someone top gear, but totally lacking understanding of the game mechanics.

And there's the last and least important group of players - the pay2win randoms.None of these actually is a good L2 player, anyone overgearing you 10:1 will win, no matter how good you're.These players usually spend thousands per month, just to keep an edge over the rest. They usually pack together, since losing the fights after spending their kidneys on the store, is just not an option and from there your get the mostly single -sided servers that we got today. Many of them hop servers to avoid being bullied by their competition, that's if they didn't bandwagon it ofc.

This is the sad truth of L2, or rather what's left off it.
This is REALITY
Make no mistake:
The massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) genre is dead. And we killed it. We’ve been driving a stake through its heart – slowly, inch by inch – for the past three years.

The free-to-play monolith “Lineage 2” coupled with a spike in the global mobile game market, has everyone believing that addicting online content is and should always be free.
Many MMORPGs have collapsed in the wake of free-to-play.. “SWTOR", crafted for years at a $200 million price tag, is now free.

This is a symptom of a much larger disease affecting modern society, especially with the Millennials. To them things that cost a lot of money to create should be free. We illegally downloaded MP3s on Limewire. We share each other’s Netflix accounts. We’re part of the reason.
We believe news and media should be free because it is a smartphone swipe away.

And now, this mentality has killed the MMO

WORLD OF WARCRAFT HIT A SUBSCRIPTION HIGH IN 2010, WITH 12 MILLION. THAT NUMBER SUNK TO 5.5 MILLION IN 2015. THE COMPANY NO LONGER RELEASES THESE FIGURES.

Now that it’s gone, the question becomes will we miss it?
Mobile is king. Virtual reality could be coming.

I hope a major publisher takes a final crack at it – one last, big-budget MMORPG. But I certainly won’t blame any who don’t. Spending $50 million to $100 million upfront on a game whose primary audience will be a bunch of freeloaders doesn’t seem like a sound business proposition

so keep complaining ... every complaint Drives the Nail ... Deeper and Deeper

Some interesting comments...

Yeah, I generally agree that people with less gear are more skilled. Poor gear pushes a player to the limit, forces him to be resourceful and use everything.

But I think it's an over-generalization to say ALL P2W players are bad and don't know how to play their class. I mean I sometimes see players in ghetto gears but also clueless about their class, too. It's all about situational awareness and the willingness to learn and improve. Whether geared or not, some people are just more aware of what's happening, always thinking about what they can do to do things better, faster, easier and generally just want to improve and get better each day; while some others, they are just lazy...

Yeah, they should really increase item + matt + adena drops. Even if they do that, I think they still got plenty of stuff to sell anyways...

Poor gear does NOT equate to more skilled.
There is no correlation to be made there. There's good players and absolute morons across the entire spectrum.

I would say it's far more likely that poor gear (legitimately poor, not average or decent) tends to only be found on bad players or players who are so new they lack the knowledge or means to improve it, perhaps even the knowledge to even know what they need.

Good players tend to identify what their class needs and will pursue the most realistic equipment to get them there. They may not have 500B+ in equipment, but they will get what is within their means to be better... and will continually work on their goals to improve it.

Often this means OE'd lower grade gear, or putting up with pretty sub par gear until they hit higher levels (if they are not 99 yet) in order to focus on the gear they will have the longest.
You will not see these people running around in armor with zero/nearly zero element and thinking they are the most uber player around... and often blaming others for their failings when they do no damage or get 1 shot by something because they have no defense.

I'd also like to add that the death of the subscription MMO has nothing to do with "millenial" mentality. It has everything to do with games like farmville showing the insane money that can be made with the freemium model. Mobile games is where this truly took off, and it's entrenched itself there.... but other games (on PC's and consoles) have been salivating to get some of that sweet micro transaction loot. MMO's are not unique and special flowers, and due to their long term nature were an obvious target for this kind of system.

There's no looking back until a company is brave enough, and makes a product compelling enough, to buck the trend and show good profits. Until then, it's micro transactions all the way down.

Same here! Hoping for a free beta key.
The seven sings and more things that they eliminated will not return, right?

All of you have good viewpoints. Pity that NCSOFT not know appreciate people playing on their servers.

Hopefully return to classic style. Many people would return to play if that were.
Concerning classic : I'm unfortunately not so sure because classic servers are based on pay to win as well.

The massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) genre is dead.
Did you that know people were making that same claim before lineage 2 was even released?

It's always the sky is falling in the MMORPG world and yet things keep on going.

FFXIV WOW GW 2 and more would like to have a word with you about how MMORPGS are dead.

What did happen is that mediocre MMORPGS like SWTOR don't succeed as well as they would in the past because of the variety of good options available today. SWTOR was released too early in an unfinished state with several unacceptable bugs and major problems. Of course it ended up going free to play.

Look man when I started playing online the only MMOs that existed were MUDs, trade wars and various other BBS based games. Those were truly massive for the era.

World of warcraft is not in the pay to win era and neither is FFXIV and those are the top two played MMORPGS currently. You can argue that BDO has pay to win elements but I don't really want to get into that.

The only reason there was such a focus on mind numbing grinding in the past is because of the technological limitations of the era. "Content" then consisted of more monsters to kill. Today "content" is much more expansive and as such the concept of grinding has changed significantly. I'm perfectly fine with the change from mind numbing grinding to entertaining grinding. So I'm glad that the old concept is "dead".

I have seriously heard your argument posted by various peoples in various forms for almost 2 decades now... My favorite part is how they try to imply that millennials are lazier/dumber/slower than prior generations. It's extremely amusing as this argument about how a newer generation is awful has been made consistently for over 2300 years (Plato being the oldest complainer that I know of).

So everything is ok Than?

How Can it be Millennials have been playing mmo's for 2 decades? (Generation X 1970-80 ,Y 1980-90 Z 1990-2000 Millennials 2000-0010)

I have a philosophical question for you. What is the definition of "Humor" for you? For me, it's always been the one of definitions made by the linguistics.
A Humor is a Socially Accepted Aggressiveness.

Now that I re-read my past thread, "the tug of war between NCsoft and players" I think I understand the reasoning behind your thinking that I am a narcissist and is in need of help. As my story progressed I just thought I become funny by making some exaggerated comments of my accomplishments, making my whole story look funny and entertaining by showing off...but I guess it just made myself look weird in the end...Oh..boy...

So hard to entertain people...

If you find any f2p mmorpg, with active ppl and non p2w, let me know and i ll follow :)
Wow is p2p so cant compare it to any f2p model games.
99% of f2p mmorpg's re p2w,no loot,no serious progress even if u grind a lot, totally store based...skillfull players or farmers/grind type players have low value in game nowdays,
good luck competing ppl who spend hundreds/thousands in store or buying adena from rmt companies/clans/players.

F2p mmorpg's re kinda doomed, mostly have flowed by zombie-mode players or players who play those games instead of a job, by making real profit, and in the middle "a game company" trying to earn money from both sides :)
On the other hand if you want fast progress and non-stop pvp without spending much from your cash or time, moba games re far far better for this :) and way more fair/skill based.
That's my opinion only, you dont have to agree on any of the above.

Core... pitiful. Rates, prices, people, lag, etc... The difference between servers, is that the GM/moderators in Core do what they want with the server. The Store in Core is very different, the prices, the items... The events, same sh-it. The l2 in Core is cap and manipulate. Premium accounts more cheap, yes, and also to get XP-SP, and get items, weapons, enchants, mor drop... premium instances/kamaloka.... mo-ther--fu-ckers.

And then complain about bots, cry cry and more cry with the bots and cheaters. But pay for premium accounts, potions, scrolls, vitality and other items in store not unbalance the game? And players who can not pay, what they do? Because he does it Inn-ova ... nobody says anything. False and hypocritical players.

Also the GM in this server seem taken from private servers... gang of freaks.

Lineage 2 EU is a wrong, an aberration, from the GM to the server. Not to mention the crybabies that migrated from Europe private servers to Inno-va.

NCSOFT is not a good example, of course, but the Core and their methods of private server absolutely NOTHING to do with NCSOFT, nothing. For my part and other players of my era, them to return subscriptions. Never will see a lineage 2 offcial so good as in Interlude-HI5, EVER.

GOD Goddess of destruction... a perfect name, since they it has completely destroyed the lineage 2 and his rol.

12 months or lessExcuse me as I laugh for a bit.

I remember seeing this prediction back when I last played in 2009.

I expect it to be a few more years at least. They appear to be milking the ncstore hard these days but the numbers won't be there for much longer. I can't get anyone new to play the game as they get frustrated over the inability to chat and the lack of anything resembling drops. So they feel like they aren't really achieving anything as they level up all alone. As one friend said "If I want to play a solo game I'd play skyrim or something"...
1) Yes the game has problems and is not perfect. But, it is helluva fun, for me even more than in the old days. Best game period ( and I tried quite some others over the years ).

2) Yes there are new players. Not legions, but they are there. And some of them are catching up just fine.

3) Our servers will not be shut down anytime soon.

4) 12 months in the future, Luczin will still post his macro "L2 will shut down in 12 months or less" ;)

Yes there are a handful of new players every month but nowhere near enough to make up for the new players from last month that quit because they cannot afford decent gear and as a result have issues getting into parties at +85. Not to mention the whole lack of any source of decent information for new players (gear/skill enchant/skill usage/etc).

Hell I've been back playing this game for months and even at 98 I still don't know information on how I should be enchanting my skills or other basic information that are easily found for other games. Trying to get into a party is like pulling teeth because I don't already have +20b adena in gear. God help you if you haven't run the instance before...
Totally agree.

The easiest solution though for both problems is to find a nice & helpful clan.

If you are playing on Naia, I can invite you if you want. Good activity, helpful ppl., fun guaranteed.

pm "OmenOfSteelI'm on chronos as I had 4 accounts from the pay to play era (going back to beta) that ended up there. I've been able to piece together some information. My biggest problem right now is the whole skill enchant thing (excluding my lack of +6 armor and +10 weapons). I've given up on finding groups to run instances with so I just run with myself. Otherwise I would jump all over your offer. Hopefully someone else will see your post and contact you for help.

The problem with finding a nice helpful clan as a newbie is that you cannot talk to anyone until you've spent a week or more of playing the game trying to get high enough level to talk. Yes I know you can hit 85 in one day if you buy nc coins and know what you're doing but we're not talking about you we're talking about newbies. Meanwhile the spammer bots are still around spamming away in PMs and general. Not a surprise as a bot doing the quests can hit the level required to talk in a very short period of time.

No longer needed, Since Helios you can honestly go from 1-85 in about 8 Hours just following the new Quest chain, it gives MASSIVE Exp. This is with no additional boosts.

But that being said there are multiple ways to make adena now that dont include being in a clan (Although that's the best way to run endgame raids/dragons etc)

- Makes 85 box alts to farm Freya/Zaken
- Farm the two Adena spots now Pavel Ruins at 85, and GoG at 90+ These spots drop around 5-12k adena a mob and a ton of materials that can get sold to players for crafting or vendored for more straight adena.
- Make a Evi or Wynn and Box a ISS and Solo Kartias for the loot

Dailies now give a couple Million adena too which is nice, there are things to do for adena just gotta find it, its not as good as it can be but at least we have options.

I don't know I kind of disagree on this. Coming from a guy who has recently leveled 9 separate toons to 85. Sure the quest train helps but often times you end up in between quests and have to manually level until you hit the next one. This gets super annoying when you get into your 60's and 70's. Then when you hit 83 you have no choice but to literally party with an 85 and farm the fairies. Which for a new player isn't an easy option. Not to mention with no vit maintaining pots or anything to boot, you're stuck with the lousy 100% and even with mentor xp buff you will slow down. Now granted I tend to level in pairs but still it takes a good amount of effort. Way faster than it used to be yes but considering the game doesn't even start till 99. Allowing people to hit 85 should be a bit easier. My personal opinion you shouldn't run out of vitality until you hit 85. But NCSoft banks on the newbies or players trying to level. 200 NCoin for a 200% 1-85 isn't bad but when you don't have the money it's blah. If you are lucky enough to find a dang raidboss that is up then you may shoot some levels. But even on Zaken which is a dead server you will be hard pressed to find a single one up. I have spent numerous hours running around all over the place looking with no luck. Or you can invest in fortune pockets but again if you don't have a few hundred mill to blow then you are sol.

Were you grabbing all the quests it dropped on you? I had no help from 85+ and went from 1-85 in 8 hours, once you hit DV each quest gave me over 1 lvl in the 80's I just came back a few days ago, I was worried at first with finding someone to power lvl me but never really needed any help. Also between 60-80 if you run out you always have Hellman every 4 hours too.

Yeah like currently I just finished Wall of Argos quests and it took me to 75 with like 25% xp. No quests popped up so now I gotta level to 76 manually. Which is taking years. And my experience with the Dragon Valley quests it always dumps me at 83. I don't think once I was 84. Only if I over slayed an area past a quest limit. Either way it always ends up needing a powerlevel to hit 85.

Hmm you might have to if you're always duoing, solo you wont have such a big gap in exp.at 75 I would move to DV or Varka right away anyway and start there since the mob exp is much better there, and wait for your Varka quest chain.

You're not getting to 85 in 8 hours from 0 with only the quests. It's not happening as the others have stated. I really thought I thought I had worded it to avoid epenor waving like yours but apparently reality doesn't matter to some. Feel free to make a time lapse video of you doing it without consumables, a mentor, clan, and ridiculous weapon if you want to prove me wrong. If you can do that I would loudly eat crow :P 8x speed should put it in under 1 hour which will easily fit on youtube or other host.

If I had the adena I personally would use el cheapo fortune pockets to get the alts up to 52 before starting the quest chain as the beginning stuff is a HUGE time sink. Even on the one character I did that I found it running out of quests in the 60s/70s/ and especially in the 80s when the DV stuff doesn't even get you near 85 just like the ones I started questing at 1. These characters were leveled solo AND killed more than the quests required. You're seriously overestimating the amount of xp those quests give while underestimating the time required. Now if you kill a couple raid bosses in the process.... Which a newbie isn't going to be doing and I had no luck with spawns on all but one of my characters.

To farm zaken/freya you need 7 accounts to get in which means 3 computers unless you want to break the rules and likely be banned. I actually have three sets of characters for killing zaken. The adena from there is the only reason I can afford shots on my mains. With all that work you can get one character decently geared enough that someone might bring you along to CC or you can just say screw it like I have and box CC/baylor/etc. Fortunately I have a long history of boxing so I can do it without issues. I just moved from 12 boxing eve online (Vanguards and C5 wormholes) when I came back to this game.

I trio boxed multiple sets of Kartia up to 99 and never saw a decent drop from any of them. Sure a few million adena per run but that's not much considering the time involved (the first part takes forever as you wait for spawns to arrive).

The adena spot as you call it was absolutely swamped with bots when I checked it out a while back. When it wasn't swarmed with bots it was swarmed with reds killing the bots and everyone else.

Dailies are almost more effective for adena than group kartia ever was for me.

Then again I just could have terrible lucks with drops. As I have not seen anything big drop from freya or zaken after months of farming with multiple parties.

That 75 to 76 gap is really annoying to deal with as the xp just slowly creeps up. Depending on your class you can do varka/ketra efficiently enough to ease the pain but some classes just can't do it efficiently so you end up stuck in WOA.

What server you play on?
To update my status been at it nonstop since my last post. Im now level 80 and again no quests so I gotta manually level to 81 and my vit is gone so fml. Im burned out from leveling all these toons. I don't wanna ever see Ruins of Agony or Wall of Argos or any of these places again in my life. Fingers crossed I finally can successfully do Frintezza once I get these 2 done.
Dragon Valley gives you the best xp from 80-85. Also the quests in front of the Valley are single quests but will bring you up 80%-100% for each.
doing it without ... a mentor...
why would anyone lvl a char without mentor?
What you guys do not understand is, the adena rate decrease came when people started botting in the tower of naia in hellbound where we would pull approx. 1b in pure npc vendored adena in a day running 2 parties of max 4chars of lvl 85s. This was at the beginning of GoD when people were busy in harnak and gog. At the beginning of GoD hellbound was not reworked and mobs in the tower of naia would drop 100k in adena and spoil massive loot. I remember getting the weight limit augment on my awakened dorf spoiler and still run on max weight limit. Sell the ******** loot to warsmith npc vendor pet.

Thats how the adena market inflated on naia and once the russians took the place from us germans, yeah looking at you kQQkla and alike, they farmed the whole tower with 8 spots pulling in the big money. We were doing it for fun, they basically live off this game and had different time capacities.

Papa bless this game
Good Night (Using Google Translate)

This is the fault of NCsoft West, the fault of the players who use Bot, has two culprits in this problem, as I remember, the decrease of adena and falling items was made due to the excess Bot of the game and still has many Bot. And Ncsoft West is too permissive, that is, it allows a lot, for example, to banish chars that are evolving and collecting items, but not banning them in the chars that get along with these items, for example, the owners These items. So they give blow, but the owners are still equipped because they have already transferred the items to their main characters. Then the game is uneven because, as addicted as the person is in a game, no one stays 24 hours a day playing, and what more is seen, are people of dominant clans with rare items that only get in the game with lvl 103 , Nor did they buy xp runes, would allow them to evolve at such high speeds.
