My gentle advice for the new comers/returners who don't mind dumping money at this game.
1. Just know this. Any money spent on Lineage2 is money lost forever. You are spending money for your own enjoyment, so spend within the limit of how comfortable you feel that you don't mind losing. It's the money you could've spent for a new TV set, a brand new computer, Nice weekend vacation trip, T-bone steaks, tens of thousands of Fried Chickens at KFC, a new car, a new house...etc.
2. Take your time and Never rush your spending.
Any money you spend at Nstore, you can get the same stuff at half the price next year. If you had spent $1,000 at Nstore this year, next year you can get the same at $500. The more you wait, the more you save.
So, get what you need for now but don't overdo it.
3. The distance between 99%&100% is 10 times greater than 1%&99% in lineage2. Insanity is better than Loning but is it really worth 6-7 times the cost of Longing? For the price of Insanity, you can probably get Longing & +12 Bloody weapon 2SA. For the price of COC belt, you can probably get 8 x monkey's belt. +10 set R99 = 70-80B but +8 set = 20B, so 1 x +10 set = 3 or 4 x +8 set, think about that...
4. You should aspire for better gears all the time, but don't be obsessive about getting the Perfects in Lineage2. You don't have to have LvL 5 Ruby, LvL4 is good enough. You don't have to have LvL4 abundance, LvL1 is decent.
5. By the time you got all your top endgame gears, NC will release brand new gears and you're gonna have to start all over again.
I just started today (played for 7+ years on C4 to High Five, but this game... So different).
I've seen so many people talking about 'not having to bother if you dont spend money'
Is it really that bad?
I don't mind not being at the top, I'm just a casual solo player.

It's worse than it seems.
Dreamseeker posting some stuff that makes sense finally, but forgets that most ppl that spend money on this game are the ones fueling this madness too.
90% of the players of late have never achieved their gear through the game, they bought it from the store.Also if you take a look at the shops in town, 80% or more are selling /buying L2store exclusive items.
So lets say you bought all your gears from the l2store, then what do you do? Kill mobs that drop adena or items once in a blue moon? Why bother, it will take you 1 year to get 1b from there.
Maybe you'll go pvp you say?What pvp, you may wait whole day at parna, not seeing even one player flagged.
Maybe you want to go at raids? you can't, they are dead, you're not so patient to camp them all the time and besides, you won't get much out of it anyway.
And you then end up doing Kama99 x2, AF x2, Baylor x2 and maybe Kartia.Then you log off until next day, doing the same.
It's worse than it seems.

Currently many clanwars of mid-tier clans, almost nonstop action in Parna, fun at sieges, fun in clanchat.
There are so many negative ppl on this forum, just get in game you'll see there it is much better.
I dunno why some ppl still hang around if everything is so ***ed up really, dunno what they are doing wrong, but probably they just overplayed this game for too many years and are burnt out.
I have fun in game, my CP has fun, my Clan has fun, our ally has fun.

There is No-Have-TO in lineage2. The game is free and you can still enjoy the game, though in this case your option will be limited.
Healer, Iss, Tank, summoner are not much gear dependent; so play those classes if you don't wanna spend a lot. You are not gonna be doing AF but you can still do stuff like K95, Kama, Crystal cavern, baylor, balok, instina, octavis, tauti, ekimos...etc. It is doable to gear up just by playing but it takes time and effort. I know some smart people making 10B a month just by playing btw.

I am glad we finally agree on something.
Yeah...I also feel the need for more contents for the game, which I am gonna keep pressuring NC. One thing for sure. L2 raid bosses like istina, octavis, tauti, ekimos, they all need their drops boosted. I mean come on! It takes 21 people minimum to do epic raids and look at the drops sometimes! LOL!

If I had spent $1000 this year, then next year I can get the same stuff for $500 and the year after for $250....the down side of this way of thinking is...
I shall never gear up my characters if I just keep waiting and waiting...
For me, it's about knowing the balance now. Yeah, it would've been helpful had I known what I know now, but I see my past as a necessary process,
an experience really, cuz it made me face the demon inside me...:)
I don't regret it.
