Hello dear community members,

I would like to know the online player count for the following L2 Oficial Servers: Korea, Japan, Core.
let's not forget L2 China & RU but who cares :)

:)
As you can see from Laby's server meter, the online count for the different servers is very different. When there was still an Olympiad on every server (now they have only one World Olympiad for all servers together) you could observe the same phenomenon. The servers you see on Laby's link are Classic servers. The 5000 or 6000 players for Talking Island are what in the live version Sieghardt and Lionel have, while Nevit, Kara, Tersi, Bremnon, Bartz and Kain are closer to the 2000 mark, with Devianne somewhere in between. When you click on the server name in the top left corner here, you will find a list of all the servers:
http://lineage2.plaync.com/gameinfo/castle/index
So let's say that on average we have about 3000 characters per server around midnight local time. With 9 servers in Korea, this would make 25,000 ~ 30,000 characters over there, which probably corresponds to around 10,000 ~ 20,000 actual players.

In Japan there are 12 servers:
http://www.ncsoft.jp/lineage2/serverState/siegeWarfare/index?serverId=12
By the same calculation method we would arive at around 35,000 ~ 40,000 characters, i.e. around 15,000 ~ 25,000 players.

China recently had a big server merge, and there are now only 4 servers left:
http://tiantang2.qq.com/webplat/info/news_version3/602/603/932/933/m708/201305/205184.shtml
Those are relatively crowded; let's say 5000 characters per server, makes 20,000 characters overall. Since dual boxing is not really done in China, this would probably make 10,000 ~ 15,000 players.

The server meter for the Russian servers is somewhat unhygienic, so I won't link it here, but they have 5 servers, also with around 3000 players online late at night. That makes 15,000 characters, i.e. maybe 5000 ~ 10,000 players.

Ok that`s very shocking to be honest when the L2 flagship territories are having such critically low active players.

The last 2 - China and EU territories are bringing only a fraction of the due to the royalties.

By the looks of it how the Servers of Lineage 2 are being managed - you could even state the fact that they don`t oficially belong to NCWest as you enter Lineage 2 directly through http://www.lineage2.com/en/ (0 statement that it belongs to NCWest) except if you locate
http://us.ncsoft.com/en/

The scary fact is that Japan and Taiwan together are not even beating the Royalties. according to :http://global.ncsoft.com/global/ir/quarterly.aspx

Shame can`t nowhere locate the real NCWest revenue generated split for Lineage 2.

The biggest problem is to understand, when the new players in NCKorea are like flowers who are having the growth conditions o a botanic garden( all kinds of promos/discounts/PC Cafe points/Merchandise etc) compared to NCWest new players which need to break through concrete to get a massive amount of saliva...

My bet is that if NCKorea and NCJapan would get hit in the same fashion as NCWest thier servers would be already closed withing first year...
The situation in China is a bit complicated. Due to certain factors (government giving out small business loans in the early 2000s to avoid social unrest, 2 Yuan per hour computer time can't generate the revenue for an internet cafe to pay back those loans ...) the death of the internet cafe culture (http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=291498#9) happened much faster in China than for example in Korea. But since in China everybody has a smartphone, the former internet cafe customers have moved on to Lineage 2 Blood Oath (http://tt2.woniu.com/), which is published by SnailGames (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snail_(company)) operating on a license from NCsoft. So the royalties lost from Tengxun (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tencent), which has the license for the PC version of Lineage 2 (the 4 servers I have linked above) is brought back in by SnailGames.

What we can halfways compare is those territories:
- NCWest 4 servers
- NCTaiwan (http://tw.ncsoft.com/lineage2/index.asp) 7 servers
- NCKorea 9 servers
- NCJapan 12 servers

NCTaiwan is insofar complicated as they have quite a number of players from the People's Republic of China who prefer to play with a monthly subscription and lots of handmade GM-Events (Sieges, Raids, whatnot) instead of the Totally Free/pay-to-win business model on the Mainland (which proves Truth Speaker's point that free-to-play is bad). And since NCTaiwan is traditionally Guomindang (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuomintang)-dominated ("There Is Only One China"), this migration is not only tolerated but actively encouraged by the staff.

What really sticks out are the 12 servers in a small territory like Japan. Here it must be mentioned that, like Taiwan, they have far more visible staff than for example NCWest (this proves your point that in-game GMs are good). But that staff also draws a salary, and in addition to that they put in much more effort into localization than all other territories together, hiring professional voice actors who have not only fan pages but also Wikipedia articles - those are not people who work for a hamburger and a soft drink:
http://event2.ncsoft.jp/1.0/lineage2/1604update/sub/#voice
https://www.aoni.co.jp/search/inada-tetsu.html
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetsu_Inada
In other words, most of the revenue that NCJapan generates via Brooch Events etc. is re-invested in the running of the local operations, with very little money being sent on to to the head office in Seoul, where game development and bug fixing is located.

NCKorea has recently realized that they can't keep on running on a mimimum staff. Therefore they have now the Fresh Breeze event with GM-led raids like in Taiwan. No power clans killing all the Bosses, drops auctioned off fair and square among the raid force:
http://event.plaync.com/PlayNC/170111_shinbaram/lineage2/index

I personally think that this is a global policy change; in our case Neutron actually interacting with players - while making zero compromise on the really important things like Jewel Box pricing :D
Interesting :)

But looking the activation on korean server its 8k, on ncwest that around 2.5k per server, that not a good number, NC West need to merge all server to 1 for make a good game.
I dont get this, why NC WEST waste so many Money for 4 server. with 1 server will get more, for sure.

Actually it`s very interesting how other territories are handling to keep the current player base happy when in NCWest a mass player genocide is taking place. With their actions NCSoft is destroying their own image.
The currently created model was good for professional bot masters and script coders.

If NCSoft was thinking that all the existing lineage 2 overseas players will ditch L2 and will play other NCSoft - that`s how you start a boycott of a product.
If they will continue, the hatred will grow not only for the company which is responsible for destroying overseas relationship but also for NCSoft not related products which are made in Korea...

For ease of reference, here again Laby's server meter. The (KR) servers are the Korean ones:
http://l2.laby.fr/status/

As I am typing this (Wednesday 3 am Korea time) there are 5642 players on Talking Island and 1744 on Gludio. In other words, one server has 3 times as many players as the other. This is exactly the same situation as at NCWest, where Chronos and Naia have around 2500 players online, and Zaken at the same time only 800.

Some years ago the standard method in such cases was indeed server merges. But in the past this has led to catastrophic results. On October 24, 2012, six old servers were merged into three new ones in Korea (this was a result of the player exodus brought about by the drop reduction in the Tauti update):
http://www.inven.co.kr/webzine/news/?site=lineage2&news=93228
But through this merge, PvP players from the old Sieghardt server were brought in contact with PvE players from Hindemith, and two months later the Crisis on Tersi (http://m.inven.co.kr/webzine/wznews.php?site=lineage2&idx=93247) broke out:
http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=407&p=16270#p16270
The uproar on the forums meant that players actually cared, but then people just gave up in disgust and went on to do other things instead of spending their money on Lineage 2. By now, four years later, Tersi - once full to the brim with players from three servers - is dead, with maybe 1000 players online during peak times. No more Olympiad matches were possible and the developers had to introduce the World Olympiad (http://lineage2.power.plaync.com/wiki/%EC%9B%94%EB%93%9C+%EC%98%AC%EB%A6%BC%ED%94%BC%EC% 95%84%EB%93%9C) where players from all servers compete together on a special Olympiad server, like with a Dimensional Siege.

Server merges are bad, they are upsetting established structures and routines, and they always, absolutely always, lead to a further reduction in the overall player count. The same thing like in Korea has happened in Taiwan and in the People's Republic of China. Server merges never bring more money, always only less. Since the World Olympiad has been developed and is functional in Korea since quite some time, this would be a much better solution for the Zaken problem, maybe with two Olympiad times, one for Europeans and one for Americans and Australians :)

No worries if NCWest doesn't learn from their mistakes soon they can just make 2 NA servers as there won't be many EU/RU players left here.. not when it's more then 3x cheaper & easier to play at their competition with better service and no need to pay for a ping reduction service like WTFast/BattlePing oh yeah..

ps, NA players can use WTFast/BattlePing to play there too, be competitive aka buy the usual L2store stuff and still save way more money per Month then keep playing here lol..

both are Korean classic servers.. could be wrong but Korea has only 2 of those left nowadays
Past GM event just proved how much the services of NCWest are worth.

Why not to focus on the people who actually carry the franchise? The paying middle tier customers?
If to add a GM is too expensive for this company - maybe let the players create a Gofundme compaign for an active GM..

The sold experience which resembles closer a private server rather then company owned franchise - don`t get me wrong here, cause nothing in this game is free except the map exploration:
1.No active management in game - avoiding interactions with the community - locking threads.
2 No real events
3.Bugs which are left untouched for years
4. No Drop/ no Spoil
5. Extremely overpriced Events
6. Bots are used to maintain legal RMT and of course illegal RMT in game.
7. Once you reach the End game - congratulations you received an offer to fight scripted botters who monetize from the game aside from the company.

This franchise in NCWest survived not because of the genius management, but purely through loyal, dedicated Lineage 2 fans.

The main difference from a private Lineage 2 and official NCwest service is only the domain name...
Just to clarify, or be clarified: Those numbers are not the players, those are the accounts logged in. So take away the bots ("marco toons"), divide it with at least 2 or 3(because of boxes,virtuals,+pc-s) and u get a rough number of the real players. Or i can be wrong, and it counts ip-s, but i don't think so.
