So we all loved the red libra event, but I have a question. Playing the Devils Advocate, what would be the harm in tweaking the event and making it a permanent addition to the game?

Things I could see that would need to be changed.
1. Reward for quests, xp, sp, and red libra item can stay, talisman would have to go.
2. The Dye exchange portion of the event would have to go as well, while very nice I think it would somehow have a negative effect on the economy.

Something I would like to see added.
1. Switching Armors as well as weapons. I think it would help stabilize the armor economy.

I think it would help stabilize the economy a little bit, allow us to freely choose whatever we wanted as duel class as well as weapon types.

So can anyone come up with a valid reason why this would be a bad thing?

It would NOT stabilize anything.. people being to able to change their class as well as armors and weapons. That will make buying and selling armor/weapons pointless

Stupid topic

ok lets think from other side :D
1 well from my position rewards are all ok because talismans disappear with red libra event so in 2-3 weeks they dont add nothing game breaking because everyone can have them.
2 dye exchange is more like lottery + because of that server just clean up itself from under priced giant-ancient dyes because you need to dissolve more dyes to get same number new ones
3 and lastly about armor exchange i agree with post above, because ppl who change clases they will spent some adenas and bam thei have new dark +10 set without much work. so probably armor exchange not stabilize economy but there is bigger chance that it ruin armor economy because ppl just stop buying or trading their sets they just change to the ones they want. thats just my opinion dont know how other ppl think.
meh
and then you woke up and had to face reality which is that we will get the Korean improvements which means that the next Red Libra will be the last time you can exchange R/R95 weapons as the moment we enter the update with the ingame upgrade function from R->R95->R99 on weapons and armor the Red Libra exchange option will restricted to R99 and Kelbim/Tauti/Shadow weapons only.

The upgrading from R to 95 to 99 hasn't been confirmed has it? I get the feeling this would ruin the game even with the 200B+ adena price tag it would cost to upgrade things people with deep pocket books and love of RMT would do it without hesitation. Then we have +27 Dark Bows running around. Yaaa for the future.
it is confirmed and been on Korean servers quite a while now which is why NC Korea removed the R/R95 Weapons from the Red Libra exchange list.
As long as they first give us the Red Libra where R/R95 weapons can be upgraded to R99 first, and then remove the R/R95 exchange on the subsequent Red Lion event, I'd be ok with that. I'd definitely be one of the people upgrading from +20+ R Grade to a +20+ R99 grade, unless they invented R101 Grade weapons.

As for the cost, it's not as bad as some think. Some of us have already reached the point where we don't need to spend one more adena. We already have everything that we need to be competitive. We only spend in the market, because it's something to do. These ncoin based events just makes us even richer. So 200B for an upgrade from R to R99 really is child's play. All it takes is 2-3 events to get there. Or in my case, just sell all of my equipment from all of my alts and focus on one character.

Red Libra is only about exchanging weapon types not upgrading, for the upgrade part you will need to wait for the update after Forcebringer <- maybe March @NCWest ;)

The base mats/adena will not be the prohibitive factor, it will be the new item necessary for the upgrade.

Infact, even if NC were to make this a reward from an event, it would be a "good" reward and therefore, rare. Following this logic (based on NC passed behavior) NC would be inclined to make this a reasonably hard to get item via store promos in order to induce "whales" to drop tons of $$ just to upgrade there weapon.

I foresee some reasonably unhappy people when this function goes live and, I am OK with that :).
I'd like to be able to see a permanent option to change a players dual class in the L2 store. I see it the same as a race, gender, or name change ticket

You mean change it without penalty, right? Because you can change your dual class now...you'll just end up being rolled back to 85. It only takes a handful of days to get it back up to 100, but I see your point.

What they should do is make Heine Bait packages a Hero Coin Reward item. For 500 Hero Coins you get a one day rod and 2000 bait coupons contained in a prize box. The box can be exchanged within account, but once opened, none of the items are tradeable. Limited purchase of 3 per account, just like the HEWR.
