13th Anniversary Adena Art Contest! April 28–May 10

Put your artistic skills on display in a celebration of Lineage II’s birthday with the return of the Adena Art Contest! Place Adena and other items on the ground in-game to piece together an image that captures the spirit of Lineage II and what the game has meant to you over the years.

Please carefully review all of the information and rules for participation below! It’s never fun to disqualify an amazing content submission because the entrant didn’t follow properly follow instructions.

Event Duration

The 13th Anniversary Adena Art Contest will run from April 28 through May 10, 2017. Winners will be announced on May 12 and all prizes distributed by May 26.

Event Rules

Creating Your Adena Art

Artwork must be:
Formed solely with Adena and other in-game items
Themed around celebration of the anniversary—open to your artistic interpretation!
Fully visible in screenshot
Your character must be visible in the screenshot, with character name displayed and clearly legible above its head
Navigate to General Menu -> Options -> Screen Info -> Display and make sure “Player” is checked before taking screenshot
No Photoshop or any other image editing allowed
Recommended: Prior to taking screenshot please hide your UI (shortcut: Ctrl+H)

Submitting Your Adena Art


Entries must be received by email no later than 11:59pm PDT on May 10, 2017
One entry per person only
No previous entries allowed—screenshot/artwork must be original and created specifically for this contest
Email entries must include:
Subject line: “Lineage II 13th Anniversary Screenshot Contest”
Statement in email body: “This email is submitted as an entry in the Lineage II 13th Anniversary Screenshot Contest.”
Additional info in email body: Character’s name and Server, and your country of residence
Screenshot attachment: .jpg, .png, or .bmp file formats ONLY

Any submission that does not meet the above requirements and all other terms of eligibility specified in the Official Contest Rules (http://www.lineage2.com/media/content-images/contest/Lineage%20II%2013th%20Anniversary%20Screenshot%20C ontest%20Legal%20Approved%202017.04.27.pdf) is subject to immediate disqualification.

Contest Prizes

All qualifying entrants will receive a Participation Prize Pack for entering in the 13th Anniversary Adena Art Contest! Remember, it’s extremely important that your entry meets all of the requirements of the Official Contest Rules (http://www.lineage2.com/media/content-images/contest/Lineage%20II%2013th%20Anniversary%20Screenshot%20C ontest%20Legal%20Approved%202017.04.27.pdf) and is eligible to be selected as a winner, otherwise you won’t even be eligible to receive the participation prize—and nobody wants that!

A total of 10 winners will be selected to receive prizes—1 Grand Prize Winner, 4 Runner-Up Prize Winners, and 5 Random Prize Winners.

The Grand Prize and Runner-Up Winners will be chosen by the Lineage II Team and judged based on artwork quality, creativity, and originality. After the first 5 winners have been chosen, the Random Prize Winners will be drawn completely at random from the remaining pool of qualifying entrants. Once all 10 prize winners have been determined, the remaining pool of qualifying participants will receive the Participation Prize Pack. In other words, no one can win more than once or will receive more than one prize pack.

Compared to contests held in the past, doesn't give the mood to participate.

Distribution of Adena? This I already win daily in-game.
Where is the creativity and originality of the rewards for the winners? It's the same as joining a secret friend with workplace employees and you gain some specimen of money rather than any symbolic gift.

Not to burst everyones bubbles, you can participate in the contests from wherever you are, the rules are just set like that for "law abiding" companies. In the past contests non-americans weren't excluded from participating nor eligible from winning. But, if as usually, people prefer to complain rather than check around... not much to say there actually

It's unfortunate, but standard that the territory of Quebec is called out in virtually all contest legal rules as its residents are excluded from participating.

So if you're asking us for answers, first I recommend that you refrain from using any sort of profanity, even if masked by special characters, when posting on these forums.

Second, I strongly suggest you, as a Quebec resident, do a quick bit of Google research (https://www.google.com/search?q=quebec+resident+why+contest+exclusion&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS715US716&oq=quebec+resident+why+contest+exclusion&aqs=chrome..69i57.21391j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#q=why+is+quebec+always+excluded+from+contests) to understand why your territory is so often excluded from participating in contests/sweepstakes. In the case of the Adena Art Contest, it wasn't an arbitrary decision made by NCSOFT or the Lineage II team to be mean to Quebec residents. There are laws mandated by the Quebec Government that make it very difficult in most cases for companies to open a contest to its residents.

Again, stop using profanity on the Lineage II forums, especially by circumventing the filter that edits out the word, or your posting privileges are going to be revoked. We have forum rules for a reason—I'm only going to be so lenient on people before removing those who can hardly express a useful thought without violating the rules.

Regarding your demand for an explanation on Lineage II contest eligibility, NCSOFT West doesn't officially operate in, or support players outside North America. This typically means we can't officially include countries/territories outside North America in contests either.

That said, whenever we run a contest that's fairly easy to enter—like the Adena Art Contest—when in doubt over eligibility you're better off submitting an entry anyway. We'll always try to err on the side of inclusion, rather than disqualify anyone who doesn't follow every letter of the law. :)

Feedback noted, but this contest has a pretty low barrier to entry and, whether you find the rewards appealing or not, they do have a non-trivial actual retail value—not to mention the fact that you get a prize just for entering a qualifying submission into the contest!

All...drawings are looking that were made from like 4-5 years old kids or even less :D

Ironic comments maybe not so helpful, but the answer to the question is: took a lot of hours of work including a night not slept...even though was not so pro the ending as others consider...hard work was put, and I am sure all the other participants had same number of hours, maybe more on their work, with or without a prize on them.

Let them talk. They're just jelly because they didn't won anything and we did. Adena art isn't easy, speaking for myself I've spent more time testing colors and shapes of dropped items than on the piece itself. I had something totally different on my mind but got limited by what I had to work with.

Adena art isn't that easy you know. My drawing may look like something done by a 5yo at a first glance, no doubt; but if you take the time to take a closer look and notice the shades, the reflections and the degradees you'll kinda percept no 5yo could ever achieve that.

I never said it is easy or not. I only said what these drawings looks like to me.

Honestly it was not my intention to offend anyone, but simply this is just my opinion.

And excluding like more than half of the servers population from this contest does not make it more competitive...and these are the results.

I do not know why this delay, the lineage EU and Chinese have released some time ago and here is with this cursing.

Friend maybe for you and for others this event may be nothing, on the other hand for many players who are starting from zero as I can mean and a lot, will greatly help the staff to improve to give a progressive continuity in the game much better.

The Development Team told me the event is a pretty big project to port over to Global Version, rather than have no event I asked them to still work on it even if it took a few months after the anniversary date. Since we plan to run the usual fall events like Alien Invasion and Hungry Horse again, I asked them to try and finish it before August. So I hope it will be ready by sometime in July.

What are you expecting from such an event?

1. historically these events were always lots of fun and encouraged kool interaction with others
2. I actually know the details of this event as they had it in Korea and yeah it will be fun if we get the same minus the few things that wont work on our current game version - which is why it takes that long for the Dev team to create a working export version..

also for the fun of it I always enjoy celebrating the madness of it all that I'm still playing the game this much since the closed beta days :)

The import of fresh carrots might be restricted in Korea. I myself always send a Toblerone stick (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toblerone) and a box of marzipan carrots (https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marsepein) in such cases :)
