So this will be a long post so grab a beer or energy drink fellow gamers for i will share personal thoughs on lineage II after playing for a whole year as hardcore gamer and 2 years in game as a not so casual player :) .So me and 2 other friends we started playing l2 official a couple years back those friends of mine quited l2 and left me solo the reasons the quited are listed here.
Reasons
1) hard to find a party unless you have a cp *not mentioning that in party search people are very demanding on the gear you need to have
2) extremly gear based we get builled by older players who have paid a lot
3) absolutly impossible to exp after a while for 3 reasons 1) no one is out doing exp 2 ) hard to find a party for dailys 3) and INSANE amount of exp needed to lvl up
4) we could do dailys for a whole month amd we will not see any progress in our characters #its so true
Those are the reasons my friends quited well i stayed in lineage 2 and i have regret doing so i can understand the need of the l2 store but its insane amount of money needed for the bare minimum currently i have no damage and i am a dmg class and most of the mobs one- shot me which is very anoying and i have absolutly nothing to do after i finish my dailys which they dont benefit me at a whole month i am farming cc/bay kama and they GM are so funny on this subject i said i have trouble lvling up as new player in lvl 97-99 and they sended me the path of awakening i told them people dont take in raid groups like octa and balok cause i dont have good gear and they told me to do the raid solo so excuse me but this is ****** .Why i am doing this disscusion ? cause i had a friendly talk with some of my friends gamers and they asked me what does l2 offer you? i said its a nice game ... they replied yeah it is. But what does it offer you ?
you are a dps class with no damage you die one hit clan wars deletes your exp and even if you play nonstop you wont get any upgrades to your gear unless you start paying for exp and start paying for passes to make adena and you start paying for matterials and keep on paying and even if you do so you will still do dailys which wont get you anywhere!,So where is this going?

Weak player community, years of cheating. There is L2 in a nutshell
well everyone is *****ing about RMT. And everyone *****es about weak community everyone *****es about nscoin but no one riots and ncsoft doesnt care about its players it seems so why should we not all go and cheat they say they are trying to prevent rmt and adena sellers well in fact they are doing nothing and their impossible exp system only makes players quit well i am about to

impossible xp system? This game is easier than wow to level in now, what more could they possibly do to make it easier?
what in lineage II is easy in your eyes and head when you dont have the bare minimum?
It's so much easier to level now that being undergeared for your level is a thing. Although you CAN think smart and play like everyone else. You are a weak dd for CC/Baylor/Kama? CREATE YOUR OWN PARTY AND INVITE PEOPLE (99+, 100+, 101+, go wild :rolleyes: ). You don't have to worry about your "minimum" when you are party lider :D
To not lose XP on a clan war, maybe it would be a good idea to join a PVE clan with no wars and XP as peacefully as you want ;) if you don't have the gear for a powerful good XP mob area, take it a notch down. XP is XP.
So where is this going?

I agree solo players help ruin the game, but they are just playing the hand ncsoft dealt them, with instances and overpowered broken solo pve toons like evi and gk/titan. Luckly I have one of the best CPs in this game, I've never seen such teamwork happening.

Maybe that's the problem... people in Naia solo k95 and kama with iss'. With healer buffs you probably won't go far :(
So 2) is an issue, but 3) is drama XP because you are with a 7 people party :confused: I assume you have a point here somewhere. I hope it's not a "I wanna solo instances for more XP" :rolleyes:

Probably you guys are in the wrong server. Naia has PLENTY of 95-99 parties in party matching just waiting for you :o maybe the GMT doesn't suit your needs, but with that level of QQ, probably nothing does :/

Thanks for proving my point. All these people tried to make a CP and yet our 7 man group is going strong after all this time, and we can beat your entire alliance in pvp with 7 people, with equal gear.
If credit card is all that matters how come graven and fooz and always losing to lesser geared and leveled toons in olympiad, before we stopped allowing them to participate?

Can you explain me, how you doing instances that need more than 6 ppl ? For example need a fix 7 ppl or 14 or 21, with only 2 actives ?
How you doing that ? If you two guys log 3 accounts ... You cannot go to any instance that need minimum 7 ppl to enter .. Nice, 0 epics, 0 101+ instances. You get more XP and Drops with only 2 ppl ? Maybe on Kamaloka / Kartia / Baylor / CC yep, that's true. If you add Altar instance and the 2 new instances ... You are faked up. Thoses 7 ppl will get more XP than your 2 guys, with only 3 instances, when you going to 5/6.
If you try to enjoy a minimum the PvP ... With 2 players ... You will never do a lot of things. If you are 7 ... Even if you are less geared than the top party, you can survive at least 1/2 min and try to fight a bit. If you have a PvP setup party ofc ...

well i try to make some arguments and this will be only my opinion
1 well party should be eazy to find (unless you play zaken there is alitle harder) and in most daily instances you can do do with apo gun +4 1 sa, +6tw set and some basic juve and something like k95 3ppl with gear like this
is eazy. about demanding gear yes it is important in instances like atelia/altar of shilen. i dont even try to go to altar because my gear to lov but this thing is in most games where ppl want only geared ppl for harder instances.
2 show me game who is not gear based(i mean mmorpg not some shooter or game like LOL/dota2). yes older ppl bully new ones but i know some even more hardcore p2w games where you cant do some daily events because uber donated ppl just pk all who comes close.
3 3,1 well alot of ppl doing xp but they make clan parties(or cp) or du solo xp with box, i dont remember when i saw more than few open field xp pt(not included hb 8k q) ppl stoped doing this thing from c6 times so go solo or find clan or just make pt yourself. 3,2 as i said unless you are in zaken it should be easy( for me 10 mins of waiting for healer is not long(unless you do something like fortuno or other not so popular instances). 3,3 well yes its insane amount i am 101 with main and i dont think to reach 102 this year, but on the other hand whats the funn when you reach max lvl in few months? or like in wow you can buy ma lvl char no fun at all.
4 unless you are 103 or something dont know how you dont saw progress in xp bar after month :D ?
5 abour 97-99 one shooting mobs i saw some mage with apo buster masing mobs in land of chaos where mobs kill me i few hits :D. on the other hand even with apo set and ***** weapon you can easily farm mobs in blazing swamp with most dd clases, yes if you go to gunt in EV or even harder zones mobs will kill you but those zones are made for geared ppl or for party group.

It's so much easier to level now that being undergeared for your level is a thing. Although you CAN think smart and play like everyone else. You are a weak dd for CC/Baylor/Kama? CREATE YOUR OWN PARTY AND INVITE PEOPLE (99+, 100+, 101+, go wild :rolleyes: ). You don't have to worry about your "minimum" when you are party lider :D
To not lose XP on a clan war, maybe it would be a good idea to join a PVE clan with no wars and XP as peacefully as you want ;) if you don't have the gear for a powerful good XP mob area, take it a notch down. XP is XP.

That's untrue. Levels have little to do with being under geared. The grades are fairly long, and the difference in base gear and weapon quality between the grades isn't that high. What makes the gearing complicated are the accessories that players stack on their character, and those accessories aren't cheap. Belts that costs Billions, Talismans that cost Billions, Brooches and Jewels that cost Billions.
The difference between a toon in "Safe" Seraph/Specter and Eternal/Amaranthine is practically ignorable. It's the OE/Bloody/Dark/Brooch/Jewels/Talismans/Accessories/Multi-SA's that matter.
Getting Base R99 set and weapon is easy, but people can exclude you immediately just by looking at your toon. If it isn't glowing in multiple places, then you obviously aren't "geared," and the current culture ensures that there is at least one person willing to go who is better off than you do, so they'd rather kick you and wait.
Starting your own group doesn't always work. Everyone wants to start their own group, because you get Group Leader XP Bonus. They also want to control who gets let in or out.
Additionally, most party rooms require Base Level +1/2 just to do the content. Yes, starting your own group can work... That's assuming you play during peak times (and not during the evening after most of this small player base has run the content for the day) and that people will not ignore your party room so that they can blow through it with higher level players.
I have 97-99 Alts and Dual Subs. There are days where I can't even start a party room to do some of the content for their level range, because people simply aren't willing to do it with "low levels." The only time I can pull that off, is if I'm playing a healer, maybe. That is less and less effective as you move up in levels, though (assuming one is even necessary).
On top of that, there are barely any decent grind areas at those levels. The only way to grind anything is to buy runes, and probably AFK XP your toon on macros.
Blazing Swamp, Cemetery, Magic Circle, Quarry, Pagans, etc. are all horrible XP. The 97 Quests take literally ~4+ hours to max out because of drop rates, while getting laughable XP from the MOBs. Unless you're stacking runes/boosts, Kartia 95 isn't worth doing at 99+ (Solo or Group), and those quests are worthless unless you're maxing them out. So there's almost no reason to play the game for those people, when they feel prohibited from doing the small amount of content that is worth doing - and when the open world content is simply overturned, or so bad that it's a waste of time.
A lot of what you say is making bad assumptions. It assumes that most people are actually playing the game, and not simply AFK on Macros for hours-days at a time. It assumes that most people are okay with going do those instances with "base-level" players, which is not the case if you use in-game preferences/activity as a metric. It assumes that people only look for "gear grade" when determining if someone is "geared," which is woefully off-base.
PvE clans have the same issue as PvP clans, from a social perspective. The only difference between the two is that they don't participate in non-obligatory PvP. They can be just as cliquy, just as exclusive, etc. People don't suddenly change personalities simply because you have the same clan tag. Clans are expendable in this game, these days. The vast majority of players are there for benefits and passives. It is not the same, these days.
The game needs [a lot] more players, not more excuses.

only runes we bought is 30 day xp runes, except for some 7 day 200 percent when on sale last year. Shame we weren't 105 already, or I'd buy the 30 day 200 runes. And it's more like 8k per event get it right.

Actually we leveled my tank from 1-101 in 3 days and Im now 103. If you spent half as much time in game farming as you do crying on forums you might actually have hit 100. I've been in this CP for probably 8 months or so now so I have a pretty clear vantage point on why we have Zakens current opposing force by the balls. No it's not outrageous spending, its lack of brain cells on behalf of Redemption ally. "What do we need tanks? Healers? Iss? PvE dps? Alright I'll just make a kelbim thrower Yul!" Everybody wants their name thrown across screen for getting a kill instead of supporting the main DDs. I find it more satisfying wiping your entire ally with 7 live toons.

Tren, you're overselling the dystopian landscape of L2 again.
Yes, the L2 store exclusive accessories + weapon and armor OE are what makes one "geared" or not, respectively compared to the observer. The difficulty and/or impossibility of being able to farm these items is horrifying! One should not expect to have above a +6 armor set without some investment of RL money (see above points #2 and #4). This does not exclude a person from playing at all. A +6 R99 set, and a usable wep is well within anyone's grasp if they are working for it. This level of gear is adequate, if fully elemented, for farming and most leveling.
Partying people isn't hard, they even made a party matching system that works great. All this talk about not getting party's due to gear or level is something I have never seen or experienced. There is great difficulty filling out parties for levels lower than 95, but that is because these levels are so easy no one should be stuck on them for more than a week or 2. Even so, with the release of GC the exp per mob in every area has been boosted significantly. There really is no excuse to not at the very least go afk macro while you are looking for or building a party if this is something that takes a while. This is a grind game after all, every level it gets harder by a large factor. Joining a clan is something that shouldn't be hard either, cant get into a big distinguished one? Join a lesser one and upgrade when you outgrow them. The #1 reason a party wont get made is because you didn't start one.
The exp runes definitely can help lvl faster, but only if you buy them. Not using the afk macro system is sheer negligence! This goes for everyone. If you are not a healer/buffer, you should have a boxed Iss. If you are a healer/buffer, you should have a boxed Evis or GK or Titan. Yeah, its a big pain in the *** to make another toon, but the accounts are free and getting to 99 really isn't hard. You have to work, eat, and sleep at the bare minimum, your toons don't need to. Find your spot, get your quest and right click those macro's. You cannot compete with someone that stays home all day and only plays L2 if you have RL to contend with, so do the next best thing. Saying this isn't "playing" is a misleading derogatory comment meant to dissuade others from taking full advantage of the tools provided for them to compete.
PvP clans that really are that, will require you to be upper level and already have invested in most/all of the gear required for PvPing with others who have this gear. I don't think any PvE clan would be as strict, but I have nothing to back that up.

I disagree with you blanket statement that there is is little to no point in playing right now. No more than anything else. If you are looking for a competitive hobby and have some disposable income, L2 has lots to offer. If you enjoy a long term farm experience, nothing beats L2. If you are lonely and bored, maybe your a single person in the armed forces or a workaholic, L2 offers the best social experience, you will make friends and have good experiences. If your a gambler, L2 is for you! If you like being frustrated, try to make a shirt.

Well, auto-buff macros we had previously to avoid casting each skill manually were also cheating, by your definition.
Aside from that, the afk XP you get from these things is so terrible that there's hardly any harm here. True, these people purposefully take up the best spots which they don't ******* clear because their macros are limited, but you can always just PK them. As they are afk.

Look, my main goal was to enlighten some of you and unload some prejudice. So many people for so long have assumed, incorrectly and for unknown reasons, that this was a bannable and bad thing.
The enhanced macro system is amazing! For those that felt they needed to bot, they can now macro "legally". That is FAR better than them botting. Bots are 100x more efficient and much harder to deal with. Mackers you just flag and kill them, or aoe hate them, or jsut plain PK them! It is silly how easy it is. Sometimes I flag everyone around me and drop several of them just for fun before I turn on my macro.
This game does require at least 4-5 hours most days a week to stay relevant. When I macro, I am not making adena, I am not gaining mass exp, hell, I am not even doing it in an area that would bother people. I am getting steady solo factions completed though. In a few months I will have several factions closed out. I can spend my precious L2 time leveling, raiding, seiging and OLY. If I could play more live in game, I would do the more mundane things like solo factions with this time. However I have kids and a career, and I certainly don't want to continue to fall behind anymore than I already am.

Using the in game Macro system is not botting. If you need a label call it macking or something. Just please don't imply its cheating.
Cool, I have nothing against you for this. I will point out that you could be more efficient in some aspects if you used all the tools provided to you.
The principal is the same, you are interacting with the game without being at your PC. Slavery was used for ages, it was still better to change the system don't you think? The age of something does not correlate with its potential to be a better one.
I am not judging others, if you read above, I was responding to someone judging others. Me saying your neglecting something, isn't a judgement, its a helpful criticism. Take it as you will.
Luckily for us, we go by NC's definition of what is and isn't a bot. Also by my definition it is not a bot. Perhaps I will go edit the wiki page for you if it will makes things easier.
Look, my main goal was to enlighten some of you and unload some prejudice. So many people for so long have assumed, incorrectly and for unknown reasons, that this was a bannable and bad thing.
The enhanced macro system is amazing! For those that felt they needed to bot, they can now macro "legally". That is FAR better than them botting. Bots are 100x more efficient and much harder to deal with. Mackers you just flag and kill them, or aoe hate them, or jsut plain PK them! It is silly how easy it is. Sometimes I flag everyone around me and drop several of them just for fun before I turn on my macro.
This game does require at least 4-5 hours most days a week to stay relevant. When I macro, I am not making adena, I am not gaining mass exp, hell, I am not even doing it in an area that would bother people. I am getting steady solo factions completed though. In a few months I will have several factions closed out. I can spend my precious L2 time leveling, raiding, seiging and OLY. If I could play more live in game, I would do the more mundane things like solo factions with this time. However I have kids and a career, and I certainly don't want to continue to fall behind anymore than I already am.

Being more efficient? In the past it required 3rd party tools to be efficient in either PVE or PVP (e.g. CP potions). It was also tool provided to me, but it was just illegal by terms of NC.
Shops were intended to be AFK, there is no problem with that. Fishing now made it problematic, but fishing is still bound to peace zone and everyone is equal (same fishing speed, same reward, same almost-no exp).
Im also not judging anyone, just telling my opinion and I understand different opinions too. This is just discussion and if some panolol takes it as flame bait, its his choice.

If you dont have time for game, why do you still waste electricity resources for doing something non-effectively? Purpose of video game is to make fun and enjoyment. If you feel enjoyment that something did your factions, go with that.
i enjoy playing with giving some $$ ( not thousands as you say cause there is a part of luck in opening boxes or enchanting etc) in pixels so why you bother with me?

Yes, I am thinking that vitality/exp items have no impact on the economy on L2. Please let me know how you see this otherwise. Also, running macro is not a good use of most vitality items. Save for the runes that last 7-30 days, and these will max you out at 200%.

I think you are confused here. 3rd party programs are not a tool provided to you by the game. Those are tools you would have to go and get on your own.

I have read through the entire EULA and COC and ROC. Your statement here is 100% false. If I am wrong, please link the section you are referring to. I don't want to accuse you, but I have found most people site that, and have never actually read it themselves.

This does give me fun and enjoyment, to get these quests finished at lvl 6. In fact it is so much fun and enjoyment that I wish I could do it more and faster! I do have to attend to RL matters though, and have always been shocked at the amount of people who play L2 that don't have this same condition. When I came back, I was going to look into botting, "illegally". Thankfully this is not necessary, NC soft has solved the dilemma of me wanting to be a fair player, but not having the same amount of time to invest as many of my clannies.

A. To never use a macro or bot, and in 2 years time I can finish all of my factions, and get to lvl 103?
B. Use a bot, get great exp and finish all of my factions and level in a few weeks time, at the risk of getting banned?
C. Use the macro, awful as it is, to try and keep pace with the upper level players, with no risk of ban.
"A" makes me a useless clan member.
"B" makes me an unreliable clan member at best, and a flat out cheater at worst.
"C" allows me to be reliable and a contributor to the clan.

Sock, lol, ok. The macro is not software related to the game, it IS the game. Neutron's post wasn't side stepping the EULA, as the macro's were never against the EULA to begin with. It was only a clarification for people who can't read so good.
Example, if you use a game pad such as a nostromo, it has software you use to play L2 with that assigns buttons and macros. This software is related to the game due to the fact that you are using it with the game concurrently to assist you playing the game.
Example, if I use a skill to stun you, I am not using game related software to automatically stun you. I am using the game it self.
