As the producer of our wonderful game, I am curious your personal opinion on this. In your short time as producer you have always been reasonable, understanding and typically on the side of the non-carebear players, which we all love.
So here is what transpired this weekend.
Friday night, in the middle of an olympiad match a player on Zaken in my CP, "TruffleButter", was forcibly disconnected when fighting one of our enemies in oly. When he returned to the game he was kicked for a name change. However, he did not get a random new name or the namechange_12300 (or however they used to be, its been awhile since ive seen one) but instead, the GM changed his name to "GenericButter" and he did not receive an email regarding this for some time after. Now this was only odd because there are players on other servers with the same name and he has had this name for the entire duration of Zaken. While the name does have an urban dictionary reference that may be gross, it is not offensive and truffle butter is actually a cooking ingredient made from fungus.
Further, one of our enemies made a character named trufflebutter after and was attempting to scam gear from our clan members.
Sunday night, our incapable opponents were unable to beat us in Aden during their first push as usual and then proceeded to sit at Aden north gate for about 20 minutes doing nothing. After about 19 minutes waiting for them, "GenericButter" was again forcibly disconnected. He then could not log back in and immediately when this happened players from the opposition shouted in hero shout about how funny it is that they got him banned yet he did not even know himself that he was suspended and it happened <1m prior. They then proceeded to push the castle, still unsuccessful but thats not the point of this post.
The player received a message a few minutes later from the same GM that changed his name, "GM Andrew", that he was receiving a 72 hour suspension for saying "pubes" and that "GM Andrew" personally suspended the account.
Now, if saying pubes is something that is really against the EULA, thats fine not arguing the language but what is odd is that it was the same GM in both situations. Also, it was during a fight against our enemy and the enemy knew about it before or at the same time as we did.
The player immediately responded to "GM Andrew" asking for an appeal or consideration to lift the suspension. To which "GM Andrew" responded stating "I only suspended your account for 72 hours" again that he personally did it. He also says that the account would not be playable again until June 30th which is 5 days or 120 hours not 72 hours or 3 days. Lastly, this GM had littered the email with the worst grammar I have ever seen from a customer service professional.
This is either one hell of a coincidence or "GM Andrew" has a personal vendetta against the player because he is friends of or playing with our opposition. This would not be the first time a GM has done favors for players in game like this. Either way, "GM Andrew" was quite unprofessional in his responses.
There was a time when your internal administrative framework was compromised, could this have happened yet again?
We are not trying to slam anyone here, we are just simply looking for an answer to this oddity.
Agreed...this sounds like private server interference, not an official L2 server (again, as Rodah stated, I'm assuming all of the above information is true and accurate).
Apparently bring a jerk ingame has its consequences. Also this is to discuss between the player affected and the support team.
If those guys that reported him got brains now, they will report him again for a review if this had been an reoccurring offence and a permanent solution applied to resolve the matter.
And please cut the "GM HALP" part. If a GM was helping your enemies, you would have no chance, but that's beyond the point now, isn't it?

This game is already struggling to stay afloat we dont need GMs acting like children. Thats what my **** talk is for.
The only really handicapped guys here are the mindless spenders, the rest are either a combination of total randoms+ being handicapped (like your cp) or just pure randoms looking to make some in-game income by spending some cash.
Anyway, even if Neutron answers this, don't expect much of a detail. Meanwhile you can continue to entertain me with your conspiracy theories, they are kind of funny.

Thank you we're taking a look into it. Best is I can tell is there was a mixup because the reported name was showing up with only inappropriate results when placed into a search engine, which seemed like it was necessary to be censored.
When action is taken on a character, the current status of the character isn't really taken into consideration so you can definitely be interrupted and kicked offline in order for the sanction to be processed.
We also have a name block list which the censored name was not added to, this prevents others from trying to steal the name, thus defeating the purpose of even censoring it to begin with.
We'll definitely review the types of responses and action that were given and see how that can be better improved.
@Neutron, i have one question for you since Juji departed to MxM.
Will it be possible, for me, to have a private conversation with you regarding direction some NCwest staff members are taking towards certain players. A while back, me and Juji had the same topic raised and later discussed, and unfortunately despite our best efforts we were unable to find middle ground that would satisfy both parties.

Moderator Edit: Employee real names removed from this post. NCSOFT employees don't associate their real names with their Lineage II aliases, and those aliases should be used at all times when referring to specific employees.
What's more concerning is seeing that your enemies in the Server knew more details about a Person being temporary banned before the Player itself even knew what was happening to himself.
The Person got randomly disconnected and the enemies were already flooding the Hero/World Shouts about him being send to banana island.
This part especially needs to be investigated.
Also, what nerve NCwest got to act like this during Castle Sieges or disconnect you when you are in the middle of fighting Ceremony of Chaos or Olympiads? Getting banned exactly in the middle of a Castle Siege with 1 hour left to play on a Sunday evening? Deliberatly? Especially where half the Server was waiting at Aden Gates for over 15 minutes. Exactly after he got banned they started pushing 1 minute later. This all can't be coincidence in my eyes at all.
What speaks volumes to this situation is that very shortly after you responded to me, his suspension was lifted and the name of the character was restored.
So I think the answer to this being coincidental is that it simply was not.

Now I feel like it's the same here, just took this long to witness it. We're not crying, we didn't lose a **** thing (which is comical in itself), I just can't believe it's happening. Too much $$ spent to enjoy a "legit" server only to bear witness to this. Soon as Neutron saw this post, Truffle was unbanned and his name change reversed.. Does that not scream out that a mistake was made? Or that someone is playing favorites? Really hate thinking about this, was looking for an excuse to quit before and now I just might have one, lol...

And rightfully so. The only reason to play retail and donate for its survival is the supposed reassurance of a secure and professionally managed server. Break that trust and your patrons will tighten their belts or stop donating altogether out of fear.

Ok, so I googled truffle butter. 1st response was a Nikki Minaj song. 2nd response was the Urban Dictionary listing (lol by the way), 3rd was wikipedia about the Nikki Minaj song, 4th was something about the cooking ingredient. All image search responses were about cooking ingredient and i definitely have safe search turned off ;)

what this guy says is true, there has always been clans with connections to gms privately. exile and the red zerg did back in old teon days. at that time, there was a head GM named GMdoctor. Exile was primarily russian. Whats interesting is the 4game servers now have a GMdoctor who is their head gm, and the 4game gm's are incredibly corrupt (pay for un bans, pay for items, etc, etc).
Danieldefo on teon paid a GM for +15/16 top s80 duals when s80 was 1st released (also was in exile/red zerg) and is extremely welathy in real life.
nova had connections to a gm, although to my knowledge it was a gm for another game and couldnt do things like what is listed in this thread, but could look into ban matters more effectively for them and give private details.
there has been rumors forever about Juji. no clue if they're true.
there has always been a corrupt side to the gm's in this game. anyone who thinks otherwise is either naive to the way things are or never been in a top, end game clan with to be in the know on matters like this.
I'ts good to see Neutron's response on this. I doubt we will get a final answer to if the allegations are true due to it being of no benefit to ncwest. But I do respect his initial response to this thread as I too didn't think it would get one.

His 2+ CPs of 104+ players with max gear still cant figure out how to beat our "dead clan" or "1 cp clan" as they call it.
This was their 1000th tactic and it still failed even without our #1 DD.

I make one post asking a question if it was a coincidence or not, Neutron deflects it and we thought that would just be the end of the ordeal. But then our theories were more than less proven correct by them sending truffle an email apologizing for the confusion and removing his ban and restoring his name.

Beside the fact you all, including me, speak BS on chat there is something called prevention...
I mean, that player should be warned to do not use whatever world/insult first and then ban his char.
However, there is a list of banned words and if you try to type you will see **** that been said there is no reason to ban a player for using smthing that is alow to use.
In the end, a pvp chat discution with bad words should not and it is not a banable ofence.

I do not agree with you that they had GM help.
1.) If they had GM help, they would have been able to beat us in a single pvp at some point in the last 5 months, but they lose every single time.
2.) Fooz isn't that intelligent.
3.) I don't blame them from trying to get us banned. Everything is equal now, same levels, same gear, everyone using their hands, and they have not won a single pvp in 5 months against our 6/7 man group.
4.) It's not just fooz, I'm sure Rufio's trash CP is behind it as well. Rufio and his CP have no clue what they are doing either, and have never won a pvp if not hiding behind America or our CP.

It was a tongue-in-cheek statement about implied secret innuendos about food. I was referencing sugary cereal commercials that were big in the 90s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3B5e4ugrMv4). I mean, it's technically pure sugar and is awful for you. I'd argue Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal is more dangerous and offensive than truffle butter, but please don't namechange me, Neutron :(

The unfortunate thing is we'll never find out the truth behind all of this. Even if there was conspiring and foul play going on GMs are never going to admit it. I keep telling myself to take off the tin foil hat and there couldn't possibly be this level of corruption going on in our servers. But the way things played out on Sundays siege, with the perfectly timed rush and bantering on global shouts, were far too perfectly timed to be coincidental.
Now, banning the top player on the server has proven to unsuccessful what's next and how much lower can the redemption ally go?

No sniffo I don't condone it, I give them *** every time man, and I'll admit I get caught up sometimes too, but I do try not to say much. None of this was right on either party's part and I don't know the full details or who did what or anything like that. And that's where I'll leave it be.
You have only had some of the dragons for the last almost 2 months.. we had them for the 4 months before that after ally break, ya know when it was a pvp zone.. We also had them for the 9 months prior to that (3 months with you in ally and 6 without)... We are daddy.
Now that its not a pvp zone we show up 1/3 dragons.. win it and move on..
I also wouldnt continue to brag about the loot you are getting when you cant touch us in pvp.. makes you sound even more incompetent at your characters.

Only salty enemies would say I was, I didn't offend anyone or say anything that required an immediate suspension in the middle of a siege on a Sunday night or suspension at all. The block function is available to everyone. I don't report any of you for saying the things you do because I understand that trash talk is apart of this game we all are addicted to. If what I was suspended for is grounds for a temp ban then do you seriously think you guys are innocent? What I said and was suspended for was playful trash talk in the most conservative kind of interpretation. Pubes does not warrant a ban and it seems the director on NCwest here agrees.
The results speak for themselves if either was warranted they wouldn't have been reverted. If not for this thread I would still be banned today and have GenericButter as my name. Thanks for the help.

Only salty enemies would say I was, I didn't offend anyone or say anything that required an immediate suspension in the middle of a siege on a Sunday night or suspension at all. The block function is available to everyone. I don't report any of you for saying the things you do because I understand that trash talk is apart of this game we all are addicted to. If what I was suspended for is grounds for a temp ban then do you seriously think you guys are innocent? What I said and was suspended for was playful trash talk in the most conservative kind of interpretation. Pubes does not warrant a ban and it seems the director on NCwest here agrees.
The results speak for themselves if either was warranted they wouldn't have been reverted. If not for this thread I would still be banned today and have GenericButter as my name. Thanks for the help.

There was simply a lapse in our process that failed to account for a gray area with a 'double entendre' type of name such as this.
One thing I want to take a look at is though are revenge type GM petitions. Simply put, the support team is not your personal army to settle in-game disputes. If you're sending reports to us, these should be for actual issues that arise in the game such as harassment, cheating, bugs and item restorations. Not for trash talk as a result of pvp and other in-game competitive activities, with an in-game context ex: you're bad, we pwned you etc. Out of game references and insults such as a person's Race, Gender, Sexual Orientation are not appropriate things to call someone out on. Remember that if someone is annoying you, you can simply /block them to hide the chat. If they circumvent the block with alts and continue the harassment, please let us know.
Last of all GMs are humans just like anyone else and can make mistakes, we use these kinds of cases to learn from and find opportunities to better improve the service.

I appreciate the response neutron, I will take this and remember it, and as I said, I have never petitioned a player for anything. Even if I felt personally attacked, andni will let my clan members know.
I guess you could cry Alex Jones on this one. Lets look at the likely possibilities though.
Scenario #1
- GMx does a favor for someone, causing a name change and temp ban.
-Forum post is made about this event.
-Neutron see's the overt abuse and immediately corrects this. Little more will be said about this issue, and we can assume GMx is looking for other employment opportunity.
Scenario #2
- Name change and temp ban was a default trigger due to some petitions and an automated protocol was followed by GMx
-Forum post is made about this event.
-Neutron evaluates the issue and corrects it, as a default protocol will not apply to every situation.
Scenario #3
- GMx receives mass petition from players reporting abusive language.
-GMx is a weekend worker (Neutron and Cong most likely have off weekends) and follows default responses. His syntax and behavior are explained by the low wage he receives as he is obviously cheap weekend labor.
- Forum post is made about this event.
-Neutron does a quick search to see Ncoin consumption.
-Neutron immediately fixes the issue due to the amount of money this person will likely spend going forward.
Now, Occam says that #2 is the most probable situation. Except this issue was resolved at the speed of profit. I am going to have to lean a little towards scenario #3. Past GM behavior has shown us that a random low level abuser can receive a ban, but that a big spender will almost never (if ever) receive treatment in a way that would discourage future spending at ye ol' L2 store.
I would have to swallow a lot of assumptions to believe someone knows a GM on a level to receive personal favors. Then uses this relationship to get a main member/leader of the clan holding Aden castle, on the worlds ********* private server a.k.a. zaken, name changed AND banned in any form.
I think the community is owed some closure on this issue. I myself would would be upset if scenario #1 is anywhere near the truth, but doubly so if I found out it wasn't disclosed afterward. In this case, it would also be appropriate for the players responsible for coordinating with a rouge GM to also be banned/name changed as I a sure this would constitute a EULA breach.

No, I think everyone is given a leash nowadays because Lineage 2 is a low pop game.. I think that is obvious.
We already know our enemies can't beat you in many ways. So they start Petition wars. In my opinion, abusing this System and wasting Support Team time should be penalized, and a 3-day temporary ban/warning could be justified giving to these Players! :)
