Any Clan tips

Im looking for any tips to be a leader. SHould i spend sp to get sp, spend adena to get adena. ANything will help.
Depends on what class and race you are, personally dont bother saving SP at low lvls .. wait til you hit lvl 25 or so and can rake in SP fast .... I've gotten over 80k SP on my knight within 2-3 levels
Sorry i can answer much my friend and clan leader found out the hard an slow way (save till like lvl 30) I
ve heard that it's better to wait until lvl 30 sumthin to start lvlin up clan. but i'm sure someone else can give u the fast and efficient answer to your questions but i want to add one more question for them to answer:

Maybe someone could post a guide on how to build a good clan website from how to find a good host all the way down to what content to include.

If u dont feel like doing that at least check out what i started for my friends's clan
and post any suggestion either as a replay to this thread or on our bare bone disscusson forums
DWK Headquarters* (http://www.angelfire.com/games5/dwk)

*if ur gonn look at the site PLZ remeber that we are crippled by the fact that we dont have a good host
Deathinabox 1 thing kill the background. That's whats killing your load times, and maybe change your colors.

If you want check out the site I run for my clan TGIF Empire (http://www.tgifempire.com)
Hmm,

let me throw in my 0,02 $. Building up a clan will demand a lot of gathering SP - besids the one you need to raise your skilllevels you need a lot to raise the clan. E.G. for clan level 3 you will need 680.000 sp. And believe me, all your clannies want to have that tag about their heads. So start the clan at level 0, get to level 1 asap but then work on your skills and level of your character. With level 30+ it will be easy to get level 2 of clan. Share the load, let your members gain the adnea and you care about the sp. So all can bring in their part.

Concerning Level 3 you will need the Proof of Blood but thats a hard hunt. The level ground is full of though mobs and you will need a lot 40-50 levels to be safe there. So time enough to level your members and grind the necessary sp.

Soncerning the website, well I all I can say is : YOU NEED A FORUM. Thats the main heart of your clan, they need a place to communicate outside game. We use Invision but any other forum is nice too. If you want to have a look : www.undomiel.info. (http://www.undomiel.info.)

So far, I hope this helps,
Jeanne
Also make sure you have chosen a character that you will be able to play for a long time. No point chosing one you will get bored with in a few months if your going to lvl a clan. Usually good to set your clans goals before recruiting to. Ie whether you want to be evil and ks people or a good clan etc.
I was also thinking about starting a clan. I thought this post had some really good replies to help my decision too.. But I have heard a good way to get sp for a clan is by the kind of character u pick? Is that true? I do always see a lot of humans and dwarfs being clan leaders. Does that have something to do w/ their race? Just thought that I would ask since I am an orc :p! I still think I will make a clan tho, just figured this was a helpful question.
Its really a matter of classes that aren't skill dependent (IE: mages/dagger users). Personally i think the best clan leader is a dwarf or a dark avenger, not many skills needed (like absolutely necessary) and they can take hits. Everybody targets clan leaders in pvp and sieges ^_^
Don't worry about what char you're leading your clan with. Enjoy that char and make it something you want to play, because you won't be able to have another in that clan and you're going to be farming tons of SP.

Now, if your clan wants to be X level by X date, you always have the option of...urm...arranging unfortunate accidents for your character. A lot of clan leaders do this because it allows you to level your clan and your skills at the same time. Never sacrifice skillsets for clan levels because those skills will help rake in the sp faster. A higher level of blaze or shield mastery will keep you on your feet longer and will make your life a lot easier.

Like everyone's said, don't even worry about levelling the clan until your thirties. I'd say post-35 is good, because then you're also going to be avoiding dinging like the plague so you can save sp and cash for your second transfer.

Some people may push the tags issue, but ignore them. If they're in that much of a rush and aren't willing to respect your needs as both a player and a clan leader, they're not worth having in your guild. Be choosey with your members and make sure you can tolerate them. Check that they're trustworthy-your clan's reputation is directly linked to you reputation and vice versa.

Know your clan goals early. Talk it out with your clanmates. Do you want to be an omg uber alliance or just a nice, friendly place to hang out? Want to be really rich? Want to PK all of those stupid dark elves for not wearing underwear? A clan with goals tends to work better than a clan that's just adrift.

Don't worry about recruiting for a while. If you've got friends, pick them up and hang out with them. You've got limited spots though, so watch out. And don't be afraid to boot people that ruin the clan's fun. The day you start the clan you don't need to post that you're looking for members though. Give it time. Use your days as a little clan to build up a reputation.

I've seen a lot of clans come and go, and it seems that the ones that rush to the top and throw around their weight are the ones that last the least amount of time. It's the clans that start small and are willing to bide their time and build their skills and relationships that are the most successful.

And yes. Forums are a must, if only so you guys know what's going on when you're not IG together.

I hope that wasn't too long, repetitive.

kill the background.

Ok i can do that but do you meant the backround pic for the whole site or just the splash page. I need to find some way to have that spash page load faster. I'm using gifs right now for the animations...any ideas

change your colors.

Ok i'm not the best at color choices what i was tryin to portray that the different type of news(game news, webnews, annoucemts) are like color coded but am i allowed to guess that the bright colors dont work so well with the dark theme.

Oh and to the person that said get a forum here's my sit. I either need to find a cheap(i'm a college student) decent host that supports Sql databasing then i could use some free forum enginess that i found (phpbb, obenbb) or if u know of any free boards that allow you to have a space on them for clan stuff (kinda like ezboards but not so complicated). let me know plz thx
I thought it was very well put and I think u can have some stars for it :p!! This whole post has help me make my decisions thanks..
Awww. Thanks. *purr* Board cookies for me!

Anyway, as far as webspace goes...My clan is just using space on a domain our leader already had. Fuitadnet (what my kid sister uses, no experience here myself) has some pretty cheap basic packages (I think ten bucks a month is the lowest).

You could also try Proboards or something like that. I googled "Free Bulletin Boards" and came up with this (http://www.emailaddresses.com/email_bb.htm). I'm sure there are more out there, as there were a LOT of returns from the search.

The clan boards don't have to be flashy. They just have to be there.

Heck, if that's not an option you could set up an e-mail list or something for on-going discussions. Those are a lot more difficult to manage and keep organised though.
I did not read through all the posts but here are a few things which I would suggest:

Get voice chat, either teamspeak or venrilo. This breaks up alot of the monotony and is a necessity in sieges, raids, etc.

A website or atleast some forums, is invaluable in organizing sieges, raids, and is a great aid in recruitment. This also is a means for you to get your policies out to your community in black and white.

Stick to a game plan. If you have policies against certain codes of conduct, pking, etc. stick to them. Don't be afraid to boot people.

Level your clan quickly. Some may disagree with me on this, however, if your clan becomes stagnant people will leave. Progress and advancement are encouraging.
I would also suggest against deleveling in order to gain SP. My suggestion would be to gain levels as quick as possible by spaming SS and soloing if and when possible. You will find that SP comes much quicker at 40+.

Make your clanmates give something back. They should contribute to the clan when possible. Whether this is through material donations, adena, or just a farm day per week make it happen. You will get burnt out and frustrated trying to do everything yourself.

Hope it helps.
Voice chat is nice, but it's not for everyone. Especially if you have members with college connections or dialup it may be difficult for them to run both the voice chat and the game at the same time. Besides, there's a certain niftiness to having the text in front of you. But it's a case-by-case decision. Nothing's perfect for every stingle clan.

Besides...who wants to hear a thirty-year-old man's voice for that delf chick with the stabby?

Want to PK all of those stupid dark elves for not wearing underwear?

Lol. On the website however i post my email address so i can reach each clan members personally. Thanks Everyone for the tips, IM going to level to 30 then focus on clan. im doing my warrior quest now so, it will be a month or less.:(.
lol yeah true. I guess it does depend on the clan you are creating. Do you roleplay? probably don't want VC then. Personally we are in it for the PvP so we want every advantage and/or tool we can get.

The other main disadvantage with VC that wasnt touched upon was it creates a rift in clans if not everyone uses it all the time.

If 75% of the clan uses it, they probably wont talk much in /clan. Thus making the other 25% feeling left out and more then likely they'll leave. (If you require it, thats diffrent I guess)

Its the same with alliances as well. If not everyone in a alliance uses it, it leaves those who dont feeling left out of the loop, since people who do use VC dont actually type a whole lot in the game.
Yeah I would have to agree with you there. It can cause a bit of seperation, but to us ( for our needs ) the pros far outweigh the cons.

There is no way I could play this game for 2-6 hours w/o it. In seiges it is so much more effective then normal chat.
Great thread. Stickied. :)

The best way to get sp for your clan is to buy NO SKILLS from level 25/24 until level 40, aside from a few choice skills. Mages, contrary to commmon beleife, have the easiest time getting a level 3 clan. The only skills they ever need to buy from level 20-40 are flamestrike and poison cloud. By the time they reach level 40, after leveling wiht just these skills, a mage should have enoygh sp for both a level 3 clan, and every level 4 skill.

tisk tisk
for a growing player he/she needs his skills, it is very hard for a level 40 to kill mobs with only level 25 skills. spend sp to make sp, just stay away from thoes useless skills.

You can try what I use on my clansite, it's a CMS called e107, it has a built in forum and is fairly easy to set up, just need a MySQL database, comes with some presetup themes or you can dl and install others, great comunity if you need help, e107 (http://e107.org) .
Thx a bunch i like it. (i dont think angelfire supports sql databasing does it?) ne way i made a forum for our clan on proboards.com (http://www.proboards.com) i have to admit it is very nice (especially the free calender feature to post events)and i would recommend this to ne one else who's in the bind i am.

I dont know why you wouldn't use voice chat (aside from RP I guess but that's very rare). It's simply much more easier to use than typing, especially in the heat of battle when you do not have time to type out detailed strategies etc. Everyone can use voice chat, head over to Wal-Mart and buy a $2 microphone. It really isn't hard.

Everyone can use voice chat,

Well that might be true for som ppl but for me i dont use it much cause for some strange reason it makes my game lag.......BADLY. to the point where i get lag deaths. So far it's only me and my friend so we use Skype. u think that might be the problem? if so what a very good non lag voice chat program to use (that's FREE!)
Sounds like you need to buy a stick of good memory. That would prolly solve your problem.

Sounds like you need to buy a stick of good memory.

Wait a min u mean more memory right there's no "bad" memory is there?
Then again, a mage would be pretty bad for castle siege.
Just join a high level clan and get lots of rare items and then you quit and make your clan? ^_^ :p
Um...let's just pretend you didn't say that. Honestly...some people have no sense of dignity or honour.
Buy only the BARE MINIMUM for skills after hitting levle 20 until you reach level 40. At levle 40, you gain mostly new skills anyways, and in general, this gives you enough sp for both level 40 skills and a levle 3 clan.

Simple, Don't start a clan till atleast lvl 40+
I started a clan at lvl 43, went right to clan lvl 2, then delvled to lvl 40 and got my lvl 43 skills, from there on i got clan lvl 3 sp, now I have my lvl 43 skills and am 50+ still saving for clan lvl 4,

your best bet for getting sp honestly is delvling, get all your skills first, then delvl. if you don't want to delvl you will always be behind on your skills.
Ok... here's my plan. I'm a dwarf artisan, and I started a clan at level 28 (when I got level 2 craft). I chose a dwarf because for one I really like their money making skills, but as an artisan access to materials is critical. I had two key people that I hunted with regulary join my clan immediately, and they put all their materials in the clan wh. This is how we funded the monies for clan leveling. We are now level 2 trying to rush to level 3 clan. My character is now level 34, and most of the clan is level 29-36 so I'm right in the middle when it comes to hunting. By being a crafter... I have full brig set, elven jewelry, and a skull breaker (tarbar equiv). I can solo anything my level with no problems. Using clan materials I craft D grade gears for crystals, and sell other gears for money to buy soul ore to make DSS. I can spam DSS and level like it's nothing. SP for level 2 was tough, I'll admit it. But level 3 is coming very quickly becuase we now have over 10 REGULAR members, and we can take over a premo room in CT (Cruma Tower). You get a TON more SP when you hunt in parties than you get when soloing. I solo'd for all the SP for level 2 (150K SP), and it took over 2 weeks. I've been partying for just this past weekend with the clan and I have over 170k SP, and I haven't even been online as much as before. I figure to have the required 500k SP by the end of this weekend because we are hunting together. My biggest concern as a clan leader is leeches, and grievers. I've made it a point to friend several other clan leaders to form a solid black-list of such players. One thing you will find for certain is that level 30+ players are already in a clan, and won't budge until they hit level 40. We recruit level 25+, and require some sort of donation (money and/or materials). The hardest part is you will run into players that really don't need clan support (they're mysteriously wealthy). These players disrupt the clan, because legit first-character players struggle for money and gear all the way thru the game. However, your dwarf artisan should be able to work side by side with your scavengers to fund the clan with money/gear with very little effort. We have enough materials in the clan WH, that I should be able to supply every member with entry-level C grade gears from simple crafting. A final interest most potential clannies want is a Clan Hall. Clan Halls are very expensive to bid on... We bid 12Mil for a clan hall in Dion, and we didn't bid high enough lol. However, before I started a clan I was a member of a clan with a clan hall. They are definitely a huge advantage over other clans. But that's another storey.
Leaders:

Use your head, trust your instincts, and never break your morals.

I have the best group of guys I could possibly want in my clan. I recruited slowly so everyone got to know eachother very well. We are arguable one of the friendliest clans on Bartz.

Make your decisions in the best interest of the clan, not yourself.

That's all you really need to know.

EDIT: I don't agree with IceCold, if you're a higher lvl .. you can kill higher lvl mobs, getting you more SP. So why delevel? Its useless.
I agree, that is why we now made it a requirement. You must not always be on it though, but it does give a much higher degree of communication, feel and socialization.

Definetly worth it...most of our troublemakers were always the ones with limited or no teamspeak.

if you don't want to delvl you will always be behind on your skills.

why delevel? you don't gain sp any faster, all you do is make it take longer to get higher level (higher stats) and to actually unlock the next set of skills. The only reason to delevel is if you're getting paid to farm adena.

Thats incorrect actually, and if you think about it a minute you'll understand why.

Say as a hypothetical example you gain 100K from level 20-21. If you delevel to 20 again, and level to 21 again, you are granted that same 100K, in effect doubling the SP ratio you gained for one level.

So yes, in fact you do gain more SP then another level 21. (Plus more Adena obviously)

With that said, I woudnt delevel. Its possible to be clan level 3 by level 31-33ish, and level 4 by mid/low 40's depending upon what you train. Its not that bad.

The key word here is "faster". By the time you level all the way back up to level 21. You could have made it almost to 22, and gained more SP along the way than you would have going from 20-21. The point of deleveling is to stay the same level as certain monsters that you can kill easily. As a monster's level get's lower compared to yours it will drop less adena and other goodies. It will spoil less too. Some low level monsters are just good to get money from. Deleveling otherwise, especially for the role of a clan leader, is pointless.

Again, thats incorrect too.

The point of deleveling for a clan leader is to not only get SP, but to be able to train his skills with the additional SP as well.

You have a situation where a typical level 40 clan leader has virtually no skills if he is leading a level 3 clan, where as a similar level 40 clan leader who did delevel will be much better in skills and typically fight better, thus gaining SP faster.

Now, if your of the type that says screw the clan, I want my skills, this dosent apply to you and of course, deleveling does actually slow you down. Otherwise (if you dont get skills) it actually speeds up SP gain.

There is no extra SP. You will have more SP at your current level than most if you delevel, but you're not gaining SP any faster. When you die, you lose exp, but no sp. The formula seems pretty simple. Deleveling makes you waste the time you've spent to get exp. Now you have to spend that time again to regain your level, gaining about the SAME SP you would have gotten if you never deleveled.

That level 40 clan leader with all that SP would probably be a little closer to level 41 if he never deleveled, and he would still have about the SAME SP, probably a little more, because the harder the monsters the more SP they give.

I never stated you gain it faster. I stated, quiet simply, you gain more. Thats just facts. If you level to 20 twice, you gain more SP then someone who did once. If you level to 40 twice, same thing.

Duh? :P The forumla is very simple, which is why I'm not understanding why you arent getting it (lol..)

He woudnt have more in the same amount of time, he would have less in the same amount of time.

Its simple mathmatics really. Take average time to kill X mob, while skill-less, then divide that by X mobs per hour. Take average time to kill X mob while having skills, then divide that by X mobs per hour. Take average time to kill X+2 mob while having skills, then divide that by X mobs per hour.

The 1st option nets the least. The 2nd nets the most. The 3rd is a medium average.

What in effect you have is, at the START, the clan leader who delevels will actually gain less sp. Toward the END, the clan leader who deleveled will gain more sp.The non deleveler is a medium average all the way through, with no spikes nor declines in the graph.

If thats getting too technically, lemme know =/ I can make it up in Excel so its easily understandable heh
Ashane is right.

Level 40 Clan leader wants to level his clan. He can fight lvl 40+mobs with no skills, or he can delevel and fight weaker mobs with lvl 40 skills. Think how long it would take to kill a krator with weak lvl 40 skills. Think how long it will take to kill a hangman tree with weak lvl 40 skills. Compare the time it takes, sure that one mob grants more sp, but the amount of mobs you would kill makes over for it.
Best way I leveled up my clan was to TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN!!

Super fast XP vs. fight mob, go to next, fight mob etc.
Well, that does make sense if you never bought any skills at all and you're soloing all the way. Buy only the skills that help you the most. If you do it right, it's faster than deleveling. Yes, faster. Quality not quanity. I don't care if you have more sp at 40 than me, because by that time i'll be 41 with more sp than you. I will have bought the right skills to work with, and have clanmates to help me level up.
That was in response to AshaneFB.
I see value of both idea. On one hand you can de-level so that your skills and equipment are at the monsters level or you can group with your clan members while they pull up the slack. I believe the later was meant. As I started in C1 and see the C2 expansion, NCSoft is pushing group vs. environment/group.

Voice chat is nice, but it's not for everyone.

I can say i hate voice chat. Dont know... dont feel ok with it...
Also i can read and understand english but is not so easy for me to understand them when someone speaks. you see english is not my native language.

As for an RPer voice chat is not my idea of RP.
another tip is create a website to manage and communicate with clan members

guildportal.com offers free website that cater to RPG gamers such as Lineage II, Everquest, and WOW.

They have just about everything you need to get going, including a forums. Pretty much self-explanatory and you can browse the tons of other websites that they host for ideas on what to do for yours.

goto LegionTeon.guildportal.com (http://LegionTeon.guildportal.com) to view Legion's website. We are still under construction and the clan is really getting into keeping it together. I think this is also the key to having a successful clan.
Yes. A central resource of information is very useful for members.

Voice chat is a must .. There is no way your going to take a castle without voice chat. I mean sure its possible. But its alot more possible with the use of voice chat. Just because you use voice chat does not mean you have to speak. In my opinion you really never get to know someone for there true self untill you have spoken to them on voice chat. They bring a certain attitude to there voice and you can tell how they are as a person and as a clan leader / member and ingame its harder to tell how they are.
Would voice chat inhibit the game on a 56k connection? The game runs fine by itself, but if I incurred a big hit because of it, it would be unplayable... :D
On a slower connection, voice chat could definately cause problems as transmitting voice requires an amount of bandwidth in addition to what the game uses. That said there are options in some voice chat programs that let you define how much of your available bandwidth the program is allowed to use. Basically, you trade your sound quality for a better game connection.

lol good one :)
I lead a lvl 4 clan that I started when I was in my low 20s. Starting it in my low 20s was good and bad and here's why:

Good: you'll have a hard time recruiting people that are 52+ when you get there. They're already all in clans and those who aren't already have 4 possible clans to join after having left their last clan. So starting the clan low lvl gets you members you can grow with and that you know will stick with you to the end. It gives you a base amount of members that will always be there, and that's a necesity, 'cause no one wants to join a 3 person clan.
Bad: The SP thing. At 40, I still had lvl 30 skills. At lvl 52, I still had 44 skills. I would only get important skills, masteries, dances (I'm a BD) and would really have nothing else. Being a BD is a good, because although the dances are expensive, that and the masteries are really all you need to get a group and lvl/get sp. When I got to grade change lvls, I got to the next lvl before a change (43 after 40 and 54 after 52) and stayed there (dying to stay that lvl) until I could bring all the skills I wanted back up to lvl. It only took me three weeks to get all my skills up to lvl for 54 from 44 and it was certainly worth it. In pvp you are nothing without your full skill set. (And if you reply that in pvp you are nothing as a BD no matter what, I'll pk you :P)

Some of the best advice said so far was to stick to your principles and recruit people that you can enjoy just chatting to. Build a relationship with each member and you know they'll love the clan they're in. They have to know you're the boss, there's nothing worse then a bunch of crazy DDs not listening to your orders in a seige and you all getting dropped before you can lift a flag. The best way for them to know you're boss, is for you to be fair with them at all times.

About lvl 5, wait till you're way up there and 60+. It's way too expensive even at 50+ and really, you've got to be solidly connected to get the good clans to come along and join your alliance. Wait for that one, there's no rush at all and you don't get any other advantages at lvl 5 besides create alliance.

I just started my clan, when i got lvl 10 i think, now I am 22 and I have only one member, who is 27 and never show up. So my friend suggested me that I should get my clan lvl to 1-3 and then look for people, and to begin with for hall my time in lineage 2 I was in party around 4 or 5 times, didnt find people to group with. :(

Well first I would say, take some time to sit down and think thru carefully, how do u want to apply ur clan into the game. Like evil/good clan, more toward pvp vs PvE. Want a relaxed clan where all friends or want a rank system. Have like an overall goal and create a strong foundation u want your clan to be baseds off of.

After which just play the game as you normally would, meet new people on your journey and talk with them. Don't force ur clan idea down their throat, more tell them what ur clan is about and what u want to do. If they like the idea they will join ur cause.

Lot competition out there, so not going be lot recruits in one night. It takes time, but as u play the game. with clanmates, people will noticed u and ur actions.

Don't make leveling the clan all on ur shoulders too. Level one ya, but lvl 2+ work with ur clanmates. Think of some ways to finance the 2.5mil for lvl 2, have fun grinding the weekend away with clanmates to get the SP. Make ur goals as clan leader, Clan goals so members can share the achievement with you.

I hope this helps you and wish u luck,

Jam

r lvl mobs, getting you more SP. So why delevel? Its useless.

Definetly true. You should never sacrifice what you believe in for the sake of numbers. It will only make you miserable in the long run imo.
sorry to bump this so bad but SP isnt so hard to come by any more... SP SCROLLS!!! YAY!!! buy them today from your dawn or dusk priestess....so long as you have the aa for em :p
Hi, I'd like to ask a question on the same subject. I have a lev 3 clan and I just made lev 52 BD!!! :D My clan only has about 10 members but we are all active and they range from lev 35-45. We are a great group and I enjoy them all. I just kicked out a few members who went MIA lol. Now I want to recruit certain classes to strengthen the clan. I have found it to be harder to recruit lately. Is there a reason for this? I was wanting to recruit members in their 40's but maybe it would be better to get new members in the 30's and power level them.

Also, I don't ask members to hand over adena for the clan. Should I? All I ask is for any drops they don't need to put in clan WH. Also we do weekly clan hunts which all dropps go to the clan WH. I in return have a member craft items to sell and upgrade our mats. Does this seem fair? My main goal for the clan is for fun. I am at lev 3 clan and yes the SP scrolls helped. I heve one member who wants lev 4 clan but I have no reason for it yet. I'm just now racking up the sp quickly. I want all members to get up in level before I consider clan wars and such. This leads me to my next question. Do allies help a clan with their recruiting? Well I hope I gave some info and I'd like to get some without stealing this post. Thanks :)

Gratz!

I want to recruit certain classes to strengthen the clan. I have found it to be harder to recruit lately. Is there a reason for this? I was wanting to recruit members in their 40's but maybe it would be better to get new members in the 30's and power level them.

There are fewer "newer" players in the game so the pool for recruitment is less. I would say just get good people who are close to your lvls and help them lvl up. I would hold off giving items and adena until you get a sense of your new members. There are a lot of people who clan hop, hoping to get "stuff".

Also, I don't ask members to hand over adena for the clan. Should I?

Depends on what you need the money for. I used to ask for a token amount of 10k to help pay for things such as soul or spirit ore. I would then craft d shots and use the money for the clan. For that small amount of money my members would get grade c armor upgrade when they hit 40 (they would trade in their D grade) and occassionally some adena help.

Once you start sieging and placing flags, if you don't have the money I would go to your membership. If they are loathe to give you anything then I think that says something about them. Some people will give money gladly.. others not. However... you must also be honest with the money. People don't want to feel like they are giving money and then seeing the money go to the clan leader's armor ;)

All I ask is for any drops they don't need to put in clan WH. Also we do weekly clan hunts which all dropps go to the clan WH. I in return have a member craft items to sell and upgrade our mats. Does this seem fair?

Yes.

I heve one member who wants lev 4 clan but I have no reason for it yet.

Make sure when you recruit that you are clear as to the direction and time frame of the clan. He might want a lvl 4 clan because he wants to jump into sieges... however... if that is not a focus for you then that can cause issues. Being honest at all points will help clear up any misunderstandings.

If a clan member wants to be in a more "agressive" clan (or a more laid back clan) then be clear with them and let them know that if they want to leave that there are no hard feelings as the goal is for everyone to find a place that the can feel is "home".

I'm just now racking up the sp quickly. I want all members to get up in level before I consider clan wars and such. This leads me to my next question. Do allies help a clan with their recruiting? Well I hope I gave some info and I'd like to get some without stealing this post. Thanks :)

Sometimes. Especially if there are clans who can't fit a new person but they know that person would be a good fit "somewhere" in the alliance.

Good Luck.

I personally got burned out on being a clan leader because there were too many fires to put out all the time. Some days I would spend up to 2 hours just doing clan business and would never play.

Being a clan leader can be hard. However... having a decent membership will certainly be a boon to you.

It is better (in my opinion) to have a small clan of good people then a large clan of people you don't know.
im a clan leader approaching my 6 month annverissary *shed a tear*

i started off at level 59 being a clan leader sp was never a problem because i had a high pvp count and the sp to go along with it :)

Started off a clan of one :) then over the last 6 months i had clan after clan fold into to me. (smaller lower level clans or groups of people from clans that have disbanded)

What this created was a great group of people who all known each other for long time (more then half the clan knows at least one of other clan member in IRL). This has almost filled my clan with very few spots left to fill. Hurts sometimes because you dont get exactly get the classes your clan may need but it all depends on what you play the game for everyone is happy in the clan and i dont think anyone can put a price on that.

Now if i can just convince someone to play a sucky Swordsinger ill have every class lol
Thanks for all the info. I just had a new member leave because he kept hounding for adena and top weapons lol. I told him I have requirements and I guess he didn't like it lol. However, since my post we have recruited many and the clan is leving very well. I'm going for level 4 clan this week and im just shy of level 57 BD. SP is very fast now. Again thanks for all the info. I feel I am on the right track. I've just heard from some people a clan is for helping members get weapons and armor. Well, I think its more for a group of friend with common interests and yes I do help members out if they need. I just cant and will not fork over top b armor and weapons to all members. Hell I don't have that much adena. I'll give SS, spellbooks, etc if they need or even help get a weapon but I have limits. Like said above after playing the game with people you'll find out who are there to enjoy the clan and not be a leech. Again thanks.
Great tips , forum.. well is there web that helps create one and free .I also find that waiting til your in your 40+ to recruit is nice .Doesn't mean that u have to recruit that high. I try to recruit lvl 20+ right now just to see how they lvl and if there is any dedication. or are they char jumping.
I tell my new members 3 days No activity or lvl increase.YOU HAVE TO GO I know it sounds harsh but i had a 30 day rule but its not fare to those that are contributing tothe needs of the clan . I dissmis them. If they come back and want to be dedicated to the char and the clan then they can rejoin.
3 days is very harsh. 2 weeks is more like i know long time members who go on vacation move got finals big project at work etc. You can easily not log into game for 3 days unless u dont have a real life lol
MM...I don't really agree with that last part on the 3 day limit. Every once in a while my internet connection dies for weeks on end, thank you Yahoo -_-.
It could happen to others, probably does. They wouldn't have any way to contact you and let ya know either.\

Or. what if they just don't feel like playing for say, 4 days? I am extremely dedicated to L2, I'm on it as much as I can be. But some times I just despise playing for no reason.
Ok update to my very old early on post . I now email the individual in game I notify all members of the non activity that member and he has the original 30 day criteria. and he can rejoin once he's active. There was i reason why he was in my guild in first place, he was a good person, but if i need the room. il have to take the penalty and dismiss :( but alway welcome back. Yes i know all about crappy internet connection thats why i wait 30 days even more sometimes.
ok this worked well for me :P slow but well. I made my clan at lvl 10, did lvl 1 at bout 20-30's lvl 3 at 40+, lvl 4 is the tricky part it takes 2.5mil sp for lvl 4 and im not sure on lvl 5 cause i havnt gotten that far yet, i got bored with my char.

you can actually have other chars in your clan, i have 2 other 50+ alts in my clan, y ou just have to give clan privilges to your officers and you can get a char on your accnt in the clan. I just stoped at lvl 3 cause i got bored with my first char, my clan is ok with me not lvling my main and i use my seal stones for sp scrolls so someday i will eventually get the sp i need.

ive found some very nice free forum/ site places with almost complete customization, both sites only have 1 small bar across the top of your page between your logo and the rest of the site.
The first place i use is www.forumer.com (http://www.forumer.com), its just a basic forum board with either ivision power board software or the php software. my site http://devonshire.tt.cx is my clan forum.

I have also found another site that gives complete site creation and is very easy to use you can go to www.lineageclans.com (http://www.lineageclans.com) and it will set up a generic site with the name of your choice that you can customize. I personally dont like the forum software that comes with the site so i just link my forums from forumer.com to the page. so my home page looks like this http://devonshire.lineageclans.com.
For less experienced people i suggest the lineageclan site. it is easiest to use and does most of the begining configuration for you.

forums are definatly a must, weather you have a small clan or a huge community, it enables people to communicate even if they dont live in similar time zones.

so my home page looks like this http://devonshire.lineageclans.com

sorry i put a . in there on accident and the link in my previous post takes you to the main page of the guys who give the service for us.
the one in my quote is fixed
i am a clan leader and i got to lvl 3 inabout 2-4 days with 0 xp and liek 2mil

it isnt realy somthing to be proud of but it is much much easier to get SP scrolls and just use those.....i kno getting to level 3 with xp scrolls is what? 13-15mil? no prob ez money maker is make a dwarf char, get som type of top d garde weapon (i would use 107s, its wat i used...) and sell it for liek 2.3mil 2.4mil w/ depends on how afst u wanna sell....they sell very fast and u m ake bout a 300-400k profit....soon ull have the money to iether buy sp scrolls or hit the jackt pot
I went for jackt pot and i got it ;D buy a dark screamer and over enchant it....i would +4 it to test your luck (ok well the dwarf char is to enchant it to iether 4 or 5) but you HAVE to enchant it in giran church or it has huge chance of breaking.... but yeah sell the homu +4 or +5 like 16-20mil.....and if no1 buys throw in a extra mil of ur money and put acumen on it.....trust me ull make liek 9mil profit so 1mil wont hurt

thats how u get ur money....so just buy sp scrolls and bam u got ur clan
Well... that's one way to do it suppose.
I started my clan at lvl 53. I had plenty of sp and adena when I started. So I went ahead and got lvl the first night. Within 3 days, I had a foundation made of 3 people around my lvl. Within the next two weeks I moved into an alliance to bring the clan name out some more.

About 1 month later, I decided to only recruit friends or put people on a trial member basis. For me and my clannies it was about being a great group of people that loved to play, lvl, raid, and siege together. We were small for awhile but one of the most honored clans within the alliance. It's been about 1 month 1/2. I've got reserve for 8 members and 6 members within the clan and will be merging with a clan of 7 in the next two weeks.

For those of you that our interested in becoming a clan leader. Keep your head up, and stick in there. Recruiting is tough, and you'll be interupted and pulled out of partys somewhat often to attend to other things that just need to be done.

-=Advice from someone who watched over a clan from beginning to end=-

1) Stand by your clannies even if they start to fall below the standards you expect of them. Avoid "1 strike and you're out" policies.

2) When entering an alliance, stay true to the ideals of your clan. Don't let your clan be absorbed into the collective.

3) Keep in mind that the members of your clan have lives outside the game and could leave at any point. (kind of a "cherish them while they're here" kind of thing. :p )

4) An open hand holds more water than a clenched fist.

5) Make sure your logo is something everyone can stand to look at week after week.

6) The weakest leaders are quick to send KoS orders on their own clannies.

7) Always strive to be the greatest contributor to the clan funds.

8) Avoid picking fights your clannies cannot win. (especially if your clannies are many levels below you).

9) Make contact with other clan leaders.

10) Remember, there is always life after the clan. :p
Hi,

Well I've been reading the whole post and I learned very nice things about being a clan leader. But I still have a question...

How can I recruit people into my clan?

I have a level 3 clan and I am a lvl 55 Spellsinger, I am into an alliance (very important alliance). But I only have 10 members into my clan, and 3 of them never log on. So I am kinda disapointed about this, because I really dont like to go to Giran and shout "Clan lvl 3 recruiting +40 PM ME", you know, that really sucks.

Also, I dont have any r/l friends playing L2 to invite them, so I am alone with my brother in this. So, what can I do about it, I made a clan website and all that stuff, but I need to get peeps into it. Any suggestions?

The clan website is this: ArmageddonClan.com (http://www.armageddonclan.com)

Thanks!

You are in the same position as my own caln Wolveneye. I count 13 members of which 4 to 5 (max I ever saw) are online together. This fact has not prevented the clan from showing they are there and still alive.

I often post on these boards and I've held good relations with other leaders and clans. As you can often read, those people often support each other by suggesting newcomers to solicite at those clans that are recruting. Make yourself known on The Clan Hall topic here on theboards with your requirements + who you are and what your clan represents.

People need to KNOW first who you are before they can CONSIDER wanting to become a part of the whole. Even if the new recrute is a low level starter, give that palyer a chance as often they level far moer faster then you might imagine ;) and hit those lvl 30+ before you even saw it passing. Good IG contact with players who seek help or guidance and a listening ear to the requests on the shouts or here on the boards can give you that one member extra in your clan on the long run.

It's always been my policy to stay open to low levels and to help them out as best as I can. I've had contact with 4 already in the past few days and each of them are going their own ways. They know they'll always be welcome and can knock on my door if they need help and of course I don't hide the fact I hope one of them might decide to stick around and enlarge the Wolveneye pack with thier insight, humor and most of Friendship.

I wish you good luck with determining your clan's needs (classes, lvl, ideology and type of player attitude) you wish to profile and fulfill.
At this stage in the games life, making a clan that will grow beyond a few players will be next to impossible. Many players come into the game with lofty goals of making a clan, building it into a powerhouse and becoming a force on the server for high level raids and sieges ect. I hate to break your bubble but you don't have hardly 1 chance in a million. That said, it is not impossible but very close to it.

We need to gather up all the small 2 or 3 man clans and make a bigger one if we are to compete with the established clans. They hold the power, the castles, the high level raids bosses(or at least can fight the farmers for them) and all the leveling areas. Consider finding a bigger clan at your level and merging with them to make a somewhat stronger one. If this happens enough you can get to the endgame fun, if not you will be disappointed when you try to grind the higher level areas or do the raid bosses that really count. Power in this game comes in numbers and recruiting is often slow. Out of every 10 players you recruit, you will be lucky to get 1 keeper. I'm only stating the facts of life at this point in the game.

Granted there are exceptions to this of course. Some clans like being smaller and just doing small group stuff and crafting ect. That will be fine for you until you get to the high levels and areas are controled by the "big guys". You can still have your great little group but consider finding another clan or clans with likewise ideals and goals and merge. More players to party with, better set up to do bosses and more strength to back up your clan. IMHO
Hate to say it, but Ripit is right. With very few new players coming into the game and the grind time that it takes to level up to 60+ for legit players, most small clans just catch the people who bounce from clan to clan. At this time, you can level a small clan up from the low levels, but once you get into the higher levels, the number of clans that last is vastly outnumbered by those that get stepped on or burn out.
I do not totally agree with all that is said, but then again I'm known for my contradictory attitude against the flow of things and stubborn ways in hanging in there with just a 'small' clan :)

I'll admit to the fact it's very hard to gain popularity at this stage of the game and that the 'established' forces do try to 'control' most of the lucrative areas...By the time these smaller ones get there it might be their turn ;) because the higher now are moving higher up in the higher locations the lower once haven't even started to gain the level for :)

Anyways...These are indeed hard times for new strating clans in game...

Tell me about it :p
Unless, as we try to do with the Shillien Empire, you gather a nice group of people who dont really care about über-grinding and stuff, but who are just here to have fun and do a bit of casual RolePlay ;)

Tell me, how small is that minority of players :( ? I am not a hardcore grinder myself (been playing since C2, my highest lvl is 58) and Im happy my clannies and clanleader think the same way, but we are getting pretty rare nowadays.

Tell me, how small is that minority of players :( ?

VERY small...
And i cant stress "VERY" enough
VERY, as in about 5 or 6 right now on Teon :p

Seems that the Shillien Empire and Wolveneye are just seperated cause of the server :)
Yeah :p
But i really think it's too bad, there are so many things to do in Lineage 2, so many potential, so many RP possibilities, so many places to explore in Aden, and for most of the playerbase it's simply reduced to a mere PvP game...

Yeah :p

Unfortunatly it is indeed :( Or at least that's the axing most players give to the endgame now.

Still I try to give those who are in the game with the same ideals as mine, to have a great time with what we can handle and I try to hook up with some higher forces when we really want to do something bigger.

PvP is not my core game, yet somehow Wolveneye get's always dragged into it by others LOL :D I wonder why :)
I think Talderin hit it right on the head. probably the best advice ive ever heard. I would say about the same thing.

But one thing I would add is this. There are many many clans already out there and it takes one hell of alot of time effort and sacrifice on your part as a clan leader. All to often you find people who want to be a clan leader and find out later that it isnt some easy gravy deal. And it isnt. Dont let anyone tell you different. it is ALOT of work. If we could get some of these clans to lose their pride and dissolve into other clans the whole clan alliance scene would be alot better.
Thank God C5 is coming and is about the whole clan and alliance scene. the face of the server is going to be changed immensely.lots of clans will dissolve into others for their mere survival. I wish you luck if this is the path your gonna take. it is a tough path to walk and a long row to ***,as it were.it takes committment and patience as well as time.
Feel free to pm me in game if you have questions about anything . I will help If i can.

He's right, i do my best with my clan, weve been here for a while. another post had stated as well, the disolving of other clans to meld into succesful ones.
And its true, the world of lineage ends up being 5 or 6 active mates that stick with you. Another post read that being a clan lord is hard. I agree with em, i wouldnt be one right now if my mates hadnt wanted me to (and i enjoy it)
Plans sooooo change in this game after a while.
My advice is this,
to get people you need to recruit. shouting on what you need is the fastest but not always best.
to know when its ok to dissolve.
if you have a friendslist and they are in other clans, and it seems alot of them are joining a particular one. check it out.
again its an easier route and the way clans are in c5, you may still be able to be a part of your own section.
Clans are a funny part of this game. I try my hardest to be a good leader, but its a lot of draining effort. sometimes nothing gets ressolved from it, I die for them, they die for me, we grind and get the xp back. But the part about clans dissolving will happen, sometimes i believe this game is geared to finally only have two clans per server for an end game resolution. And that will be the end of days in l2.

Interesting concept. Gustin seems to have used this theory as a framework from its birth.
Sporticus?!? Are you back?!?
Yes sir. I am back. As the ashes from the fires rise into a flame so does PhoenixFire Alliance.

"At this stage in the games life, making a clan that will grow beyond a few players will be next to impossible."

I seriously don't agree with this statement. Not too long ago I was a very frustrated clan leader on Bartz. Not a very active clan, mainly C graders with some B graders. I had just myself and 2-3 seriously active people. Total of maybe 100members in my ally, though alot were alts etc. Basically was about to just quit the game, it wasn't fun anymore. And then I just happen to add this one person to my ally. And bam, she's the coolest cat ever. We had a lot of fun, she brought in alot of her friends, and then there were loads of new "good" people coming into my clan. Moral to the story: Just find one or two good friendly people, and they tend to bring they're friends etc. Also having "good" people in your clan and having a "fun" enviroment makes others intrested in your clan also. I've had tons of people just hang out with my members on vent and then just leave their clans and join us, just cuz we're a ton of fun.
