Hello folks,

Hope you are all well in these turbulent times.

I took on the task to make a guide for the Scavenger quest after some significant personal frustration with the quest and numerous other complaints about Toma being bugged and so forth.

Probably 99% of you are coming from newer cronicles, be it H5, Classic or whatnot, where they have made changes to the quest. Now, since you probably played Interlude 10 years ago you’ll find yourselves a bit lost with the Toma location. Two of the locations are the same, namely the island one and Abandoned Coal Mines. The one with the different location here is Mithril Mines.

Below you’ll find a detailed guide to the quest, with Toma location appropriate to the chronicle.

    • The quest starts from Collector Pippi in Dwarven Village . She is located in the building next to the Blacksmith’s Shop.

Pippi will ask you to run some errands in the village, specifically deliver goods to other NPC’s. Fear not, they are all located in Dwarven Village.

There are two rounds of running in the village, you’ll feel like you are doing the same thing, just keep doing it, this is not a bug.
The NPC’s you need to speak to will be highlighted in the dialogue, otherwise check the Location box on your map and open your quest in the Quest tab, this way the arrow will guide you to the relevant NPC, but should be fairly easy to understand (started taking screenshots after the Dwarven part,  the GM suggested I make a guide midway through me doing it).

After you’re done in Dwarven Village, Mion will send you to find the infamous Toma. There are three locations which he periodically changes by randomly teleporting.  They are all accessible from Dwarven Village gatekeeper.

Abandoned Coal Mines – The general rule here is always take left turns to reach a round hall in the heart of the mine. That’s where Toma teleports.

Offshore Island near Western Mining Zone – There are two ways you can get there, one involves slightly more running but saves you 1.2k adena. In general, If you’re David Rockafeller and can afford the expensive wheels you can finish the quest faster.

Port to Western Mining Zone and run to the overwatch sea rock where Toma reflects on his life mistakes or probably rubs his hands maliciously because he makes our lives miserable by playing Hide and Seek.

The rock where Toma should be standing, simply swim over.

Mithril Mines – This is where locations differ and many reported a potential bug.  In newer chronicles, Toma is located in the heart of the mine. Luckily for us, he is just outside the Northern entrance of the mine, otherwise it would be a nightmare with the mobs inside, they are pretty strong.
What you can do in terms of teleporting here can save you money, again, if you can spare some for teleporting you will spawn closer and do less running.
Toma’s Mihtril Mine location is here:

This is OUTSIDE of the mine, not inside. You don’t have to enter the mine at any point.

What I did to hit two birds with one stone was to use the cheap gatekeeper option to Western Mining Zone and did this round:

You port for less money and check two sites with one teleport. If you can’t be bothered choose expensive Western Mining Zone and it will teleport you a lot closer to the mine.

This is where Toma should be standing.

  • Once you have spoken to Toma, he will send you to hunt Hunter Bears for 5 Honey Jars.  They are located near the cheap Western Mining Zone teleport.

Now, you can choose to spoil the Hunter Bears or not (although who wouldn’t, it’s free money) it doesn’t matter.  Keep farming them until a Honey Bear appears. It will literally spawn from the ground up after killing 15-20 Hunter Bears so keep an eye on the corpse or turn your sound on. Sometimes there is delay in spawning and people walk away. Both mobs look exactly the same (difference being the “Quest Mob” sign on top, if you’re far away the names won’t show up until you’re close) as well so it’s hard to discern them at first glance.

When the Honey Bear appears SPOIL it. Otherwise it will not give you the quest item.

Use spoil !

Repeat the above process until you have 5 Honey Jars.

Once you have collected all 5  Honey Jars return to Toma (It hurts I know).

  • Toma will now ask you to hunt Hunter Tarantulas and Plunder Tarantulas until you have collected 20 Beads. They are located near the cheap Western Mining Zone teleport.

YOU HAVE TO USE SPOIL ON THEM OR THEY WON’T DROP THE QUEST ITEM AT ALL.  (Sweep is irrelevant)

I grinded that little group in the top left corner, it has quick respawn time.

Use spoil !

  • Once you have collected all 20 Beads return to Toma. (That will be the last time! )
He will ask you which one of his friends you would like to meet. I chose the closest one for obvious reasons, I think the one far away is in Death Pass.

He will send you to speak to Warehouse Keeper Yasheni in the Town of Schuttgart.

If you want to save money, you can teleport from Dwarven to Orc Village using Newbie Tokens, then port to Frozen Waterfall and run halfway to Schuttgart then soe.

Yasheni will tell you to speak to Alder, the NPC right next to her. ( Alder will send you to wrong NPC, read below !)

  • Alder will send you to Rikado in Gludio. Now this is where things in the Quest Bar and NPC dialogue differ, not sure why. I went to Gludio Warehouse but couldn’t change my profession there until I read I actually have to meet Moke in Gludin Warehouse.

  • Meet Moke in Gludin Warehouse to change your profession to Scavenger.

    Congratulations!

If anyone chooses the “Far Away Friend” option let me know in L2Reborn Discord so I can include it. Tag me at @Sovereign or PM me.
