think for me it was back when i was 17ish and got a pickup group to go to E.F only to discover there was no reason for a dungeon to exist other than another spot you stayed in and grinded mobs. coming from a heavy single player RPG background finding out there was no epic boss or hidden treasure at the end of the dungeon was kinda heart breaking :(
It was prelude or c1, don't remember exactly but and my friends and I were partied on talking island, enjoying the "newness" of the game and generally just having fun. As a dwarf I had farmed the living hell out of the quests in the acm in dorftown with the bats/shiny beast things and had amassed a "fortune". I spent all of it in teleport fee's to get to TI :p
Anyway, back to the story, as we were killing werewolves and orc things together some dude kept coming and ksing our monsters, well we basically weren't sure what to do but my one friend used Mortal Blow to great effect. His name took on a nice shade of crimson and that is when the **** hit the fan. I swear to God we probably had 40 people chasing us shouting out locations, the first few people we managed to kill off but eventually the ****storm wound up with all of us very dead and very naked. Two of my 4 friends left the game after that as "their reputation had been ruined" which tbh, I never quite understood.
Me? I went back to the **** mines where I belonged. :p
I had been grinding the Wishing potion quest for weeks in end for a Heart of Paargrio - Amulet, that was my one way ticket to Bgrade equipment. And Finally I got it I was so happy jumped up and down in the chair with exitment.
I said to my gf "hehe I said I would get it before the new update"
As it turned out the new update(cant remember the chronicle) they changed it so that the HoP was so much easier to get from the quest.
the price drop from the "insane" amount of 10.000.000 adena to 2.000.000 adena in one day. And the market was filling up with them when I despretly tried to sell mine.
I got it sold for 1.500.000a but god dammit I was ******.
Mine was being picked up as a relative newb by my 2nd clan. They helped me greatly and we played together for months.
Suddenly they weren't around anymore and eventually I ran into a former clanmate who admitted that they all played another MMO and had just decided to pack up and go there as a group. As we were all connected by yahoo and MSN I eventually reconnected with some of them outside of the game--but playing L2 without that group didn't feel the same (or worthwhile).
Realizing I had expectations that were too high was very disappointing. I considered quitting for quite some time. In fact, I was pretty surprised that I even cared--as I had told myself "it's just a game" and "it didn't matter if others left"--I was very upset for some time.
I rerolled to Devianne (because of low ping) where I met Spudnik....and eventually I was contacted by a large and established clan from Lionna because I posted on these forums quite a bit back then.
So though I was really disappointed and felt that I had "failed" at the social part of the game (which is substantial!), it turned out that the disintegration of that clan had some really positive outcomes for me in the game.
I'm an officer in that same clan still today and consider them to be true friends.
Spent all my Adena on AA and blank scrolls and bought a ton of EWD when they were going for 700k ea and cost about 250k worth of AA blank scrolls to make each one. I made 300 of them and went back to Dion opened up store set it up and sat down. Within a minute they all sold. I was like holly crap im rich. Opened up inventory to find 21mil instead of 210mil. Sold all the EWD for 70k ea. Was so upset with myself I quit the game for about 6 months.
My first toon was a DE fighter. One day, after about two days of starting to play, I decided to venture from the DE village to the LE village, just to check it out. When I crossed the bridge from the Netral Zone into LE territory, I was attacked by a Lirein Elder. I thought "Cool, because of the war between DEs and LEs, if a DE crosses into enemy territory, the guardians of the LEs kill it". Then a friend explained to me that a Lirein Elder is just a regular mob, who aggro'd me. I gave too much credit to the way the lore and the actual gameplay were entwined. :D
The week that I failed 3 or 4 Draconic Bow crafts in a row. My therapist tells me that I need to purge that unpleasant memory, if I want to be mentally healthy again. Working on it.
The most disappointing moment in La2 was the massive unban of cheaters and botters on Luna. Gm`s being ignorant and hypocrite, players being cheaters and botters.
For all who still dont know - read this and reconsider to play Lineage 2.
Hello, First and foremost we have reopened all the accounts involved in this incident. You should be aware that if for any reason you are found botting in the future we will not be reopening the account again. The reason you were all banned is due to the GM monitoring your actions and the appearance of being unresponsive when tested. When certain members of your party were kicked it took 2 minutes before anyone reacted. I have looked very closely to the chat of all involved and believe you were all present. This evidence was compelling to me.You guys were not banned because of any mass petitions nor where you unbanned because of them; Mass petitions do very little but delay any kind of reaction, good or negative. I simply felt something was missing from the evidence that was used to ban you and feel that you all deserve a second chance. Second chances are not something that happens for players who are believed to be botting, in fact it takes some very strong evidence to compel me to do so.We thank you for your patience with us during this time, we know its been frustrating and disheartening and I apologize. To help ease the pain I am enclosing a game time card good for 7 days. We wish you guys all the best.
Cheers,
GM AkahigeMaby give them lost exp ? I will shout in aden for new ferrari for Joy

Right now NCSoft has a mess to deal with it, locking threads will be NO THE ANSWER WHATSOEVER.
Right now the NCSoft boss has one thing to do is called "DAMAGE CONTROL" is a term I hope he is aware and understand fully in order to be able to repair this mess.
I the same experience sort of as Drakkos, in that my most disappointing moment of L2 was when my original clan fell apart because 4 of them (family members) stopped logging in because of real life changes. To this day I miss my Clan leader, as every day for a year and a half we met online and played the game together and POOF all of a sudden he was gone. Unfortunately, the clan that I moved to after this was one of the worst clans I have ever been in -- making me even more disappointed. But eventually I found the right clan to be in and have enjoyed myself since then. Actually never would have made some changes to my playstyle if these things hadn't happened, so in hindsight, I am glad they did.
PS: imo Luna players, you need to get a grip. Righteous indignation doesn't really work so well in these forums. It's pretty overplayed and boring.

Please quit than. Let's not forget all the other thousands of accounts they banned, but let's all leave the game because of the few they unbanned. Logical.
It's simple, and if they are what people say they are, you honestly think they aren't gonna get caught again, and Banned?
My most disappointing moment playing Lineage 2 thus far has been coming to these forums and finding absolutely no information on how to pick a class, what each class does, how to gear them, where to go to find parties or even what an SOE is and where to find one.
Instead I found a community where more often than not you tell newbies to go play another game, give them cryptic answers like 'go read the skills' and then start threadnaughts about botting.
Fortunately I'm stubborn and having a blast playing the game anyway. Also fortunately Spudnik and ValerieRose were kinder and helped get me going in the right direction.
Can anyone tell me where to get the latest, hottest bot software? I want all the trimmings, gold plated 3rd party windows etc. I have a few subs I don't want to have to play and being 85 before next week would be very **** and help compliment my complexion.
I mean. It's all good right? It's not like any of the gm's have a ***** clue how to do their **** jobs. How did it come to this? I work in the games industry and I would never ever employ you people. **** and find someone who knows how to get results...
hmmm my first main was a bh he made some money and one day i saw a yaksa+6 /health for 40m i asked in allychat what is it worth and some trustfull dwarve named havanhaclump answered me round 65m so i grapped all my money i could get and bought it
after a minute havanheclump wispered me and said to me hey let me look how much health it adds
i thought k he has a well reputation and he helped to determine the value so why not such a wealthy person wouldnt scam u for lousy 40m so i gave him the yaksa without noticing the havanhEclump in the name was an E my fault now i know better
we never dicovered who was the scammer sadly it was one of the ally :(
I was going to keep posting about this issue, but by now I have realized two things, is not worth it.
1. NCSoft has not clue about the basics of how to run or admin a company, they clearly havent think of a good solution to get rid of cheaters, and their methods are obsolete, 0 efficient and worthless,
they could if they were to put blood into this game... but the money lost will be too much for them to accept, would any of you accept a cut in your salary in order to get rid of them? most probably will say HELL NO.
Cheaters corrupt others, and as time goes, they grow in numbers, right now we have a mess to deal with it ...
2. They lack faith into their own games, so they see no future in L2 and just milking the game until it dies, their hope is AION and personally I couldnt blame them, is more easy to repair a new car, that to try to repair and old and broken one.
One of my most disappointing moments was when I deleted a +6 Dark Screamer (Which had been a gift, nonetheless) instead of deleting the Santa Event weapon. But that was a more recent thing. I can't really remember anything else right now.
And Daer, I'm happy to help when I can. Remember that if you have questions (and I'm not in game), send me a PM here and I'll gladly answer.
Single most disappointing moment was finding out the clan leaders of my first real clan were quitting and selling their characters. We all huddled in Aden in disbelief before dropping tag. The salt in the wound later was finding out all the items we had put in CWH to help everyone else was declared "nothing but trash" by the leaders and NPC'd, and then over the next few months we got to watch a farmer clan take over the clan, still using the same tag. That was depressing.

My experience was similar. I watched my first clan fall apart from the inside as members gave in to the crowd and started buying adena, botting and so on.
a few of my close friends left the clan and started a new one, which the 3 of us are still in to this day (nearly 3 years later). We're still good friends and play together every time we get the chance... but the realy injury comes every day when I log in and realize that we're just a small, nothing clan the only people who are looking for a clan these days are drawn to the larger, bot clans that run the game...
The most disappointing moment in l2 happened about 60 seconds ago watching bïtches whine and cry about something that is not new, or shocking, or even unexpected. Go ruin another thread, seriously.
After that, it was probably the moment that I tried to log into korean beta servers, and it took me 30+ minutes just to create a character because of the lag. I didn't really think that all of this lag could possibly be generated just by too large of a playerbase and the distance between here and korea... I got into closed beta though, and started enjoying the game alot more.. Got disappointed again at the first few days of open beta, because they did the same **** thing.. Not enough servers and bandwith for all the people and horrendous lag and dcs for everyone because there was too many people =( I don't think I logged back in for like 2 weeks cuz of that
During the past chronicles it was possible to play casually/legitimately and still be able to reach the level cap or at least try to compete against top players/clans. Nowadays it's different.
Let's see, when the level cap was raised to 80 I kept leveling as I was hoping to catch up with them. But when it got suddenly pushed up to 85 I realized it was not possible anymore. Right now the only players who reach this new landmark are those who bot 24/7 or grind in a couple of selected places where only very special parties (formed of certain classes) can go.
Yet I feel another update is coming imminently with a new level cap (since there already are lots of lvl 85 bots out there, and the Koreans, I'm sure, have been crying to the developers for MORE grind and more PvE since it's the only end-game content they can ever think of) and new overpowering skills/weapons/armor sets available for top levels only. So, the gap between the casual players and hardcore grinders (botted or not) is going to widen and widen infinitely.
To put it briefly, due to the latest changes made by NCsoft this game is turning into a Sisyphean task, and I find this extremely disappointing and frustrating.
To put it briefly, due to the latest changes made by NCsoft this game is turning into a Sisyphean task, and I find this extremely disappointing and frustrating. Thanks for the new word!!! :D
Yes, I think the endless grinding is one of the worst features of this game. Honestly, after hitting 83, I had to take a break from leveling to mess around and do some fun things, because endless XP evenings (on a pvpless server) makes Jill a grumpy girl!!! And so what if it takes a couple of months to hit 84? Hahaha
My second disappointing moment was when I create my account in open beta and log in, and found out the place infest with farmers/botters/cheaters all over the place, and pk me just because I was under their "land" trying to level, so then I decide to create a pure killer toon just to kill these bast....
The third when I came back to game and start getting pm's in game about adena sites etc and then worst getting those messages in trade chat every single day...
1. Getting a brand new baby cougar and sending it proudly to kill keltirs (died in 2 hits).
2. Losing 10 millions because I forgot to put a zero at the end of a price when that amount really mattered a lot to me. In a sense that was good because I learnt my lesson and never made the same mistake ever again!

Grim I had a similar experience, where I was kicked from my clan because I did not bend to the bigger botter clans, I was close to quitting the game but two my closest friends from my former clan convinced me to stay and start my own clan.
Now 4 years later one of the oldest clans with the same clan leader in All NA and one with the best reps, it turned out to be the best thing to happen to me. We are not a top clan but we have nobles, and good amount of sgraders but the big thing is we are legit and I take pride in that. We are large clan and we have had our ups and downs over the years but still are players out there that refuse to give into the botting.
However being kicked from my first clan almost killed me, it felt like I was being disowned by people who I thought were my friends.

Do you have any fun in the game? If not why don't you stop trolling the forums and just quit and go play console games where your the only person.
The most dissapointing L2 moment was when a close friend that used to fight by my side against bots (he even kicked couple people out from his clan when he found they were botting and the both of us will go red on bots) became one of them. I criticized him a lot and even went red on him couple of times while he was AFK botting. Since that day on, if we see each other face to face we will pvp to death. He is high lvl botted Gladiator now and I just hit 78 legit!!!
this is easy. when we found out dragons were only for castle owners. what a joke.
..and fortress owners. I took a fortress on an alt clan I have just so I could try it out :) Was really fun. Much easier to take a fort than a castle if you want to experience it (and are the clan leader ofc)
I have a ton of disappointing moments in L2, but I think the most disappointing and simultaneously the funniest one is when I first started L2 fresh from L1. I was so used to using scrolls of escape in the original Lineage to instantly teleport out of harms way. When me and one of my best friends from L1 got into our first serious fray outside of Dark Elf Village with an orc player and a couple of light elves, we both were getting our butts handed to us. We decided to SoE, get back to town, and come back refreshed and ready for business!
Our enthusiasm was quickly replaced with things like "WTF!!!!" and "Why are we still here?" when we came to the grim realization that in L2 there was a time delay on scrolls of escape. What's worse, we didn't know we could cancel the teleport by clicking the escape button at the time. The attackers gleefully did us in, ran off triumphantly into the skyline, and called us losers. As we lay on the ground bleeding from our dark elf orifices we had to painfully agree with their assessment.
1 - Leveling my baby dragon who was 2 levels away to becoming a wyvern (this is when you had to level them the hard way, with them attacking the mobs). My connection lagged out, I died, and so did my pet. At the time if you d/c'ed while your pet was dead... it was lost forever... I was crushed
2 - I had my Hammer Crush OE'd to +15 (which was insanely high at the time). My plan was to blow up my fatal strike (got it to 13, never blew) and then try safe enchanting my HC to 16... Unfortunately I was still in the non safe enchant mode of the skill section... and my HC popped... I wasted 60% at 80 (when cap level was 81) getting it back up to +13... *sigh*
First one was with my first char DE, i was saving money for middle NG weapon, and decided don't leave DE village before i get "good" weapon. After i finally bought it i was 25lvl, ported in Gludio and find out about private shop, some ppl was selling top NG weapon for the same price as i got NG from NPC. And the hugest dissapointment was when i got into Giran and find out what i didn't need NG weapon anymore, I needed much more money for Dgr QQ
Coming to the mainland from Orc Village and finding out quest rewards were more or less pointless (there few really good quests in L2, but there are some decent repeatable ones in Orc Village).
not too long ago, after much waiting (ofc he had to spawn at the end of the spawn window), biaum finally spawned. I run in (well once we were "allowed" to) and try and stab him, unfortunately I was "too far away" to hit him. So I chase after him and nearly to him, getting ready to stab....my screen goes black and i'm back in aden! EE in party PR'd before I got to stab baium. -_-;;;;;;;;;
I did eventually get to stab him and finish my sub quests after another night long wait for baium. If i ever have to do that again it will be too soon.
I did something similar Ryne, I wouldn't call it the most disappointing moment but easily the most angry frustrating moment ever.
I had tried to get Baium, back in C4 when the farmers had it hella-camped. If you didn't port in within about 20 seconds after he spawned you were too late. I had waited up for him for at least 5x before this. Baium spawned, I ported in! I was in a crush of people so big I could not move (before they took away player collision), so I opened my inventory to equip the pipette knife as someone was waking Baium up. I was so worked up watching Baium wake up I didn't notice I had slipped and right clicked a SOE (still in a dog pile with a ton of farmers) until the screen went black and I ended up back in Aden.
My scream was probably heard in outerspace, let me tell you :/
For me, it just happened with the last big rounds of bots that got banned. I leant my +3 Nightmare heavy set to a friend. Found out that he started botting heavy near IOP and got all of his accounts banned. Another friend leant his Drac bow to the guy, so he's out more than me.
When I dropped my Great Wolf geat because of a CRITICAL ERROR and another player picked it up. NC support told me that they understood the error wasn't my fault but than because that player picked it up they couldn't give it back to me.
I am still mad about it since it took me a lot to upgrade the gear (and it wasn't top, but the one below) and when I pm'd the player he told me it wasn't HIM on the account... And ofc, a dwarf "coincidencially" was selling the SAME gear two days later. I really am Mad at a) NC soft for that crappy pet system and not being willing to help me with that thing and b) that player because of not being gentleman enough, and because he shares his account and deserves to be banned.
****... I wish I hadn't read this thread coz now I'm upset again.
When I first started back in c2 I was a DE fighter and it took rougly 3-4 months to reach lvl 33. At lvl 19 a friend of mine had given me an Assassin's Knife which cost about 500k, when I found out how much it costed I was so happy because I considered it a great gift. Then a few weeks later I found out the prices for other gear and fell out of my chair ...
When 1 month ago I bought a Dark Screamer for crystals, made it +15 and broke for +16...
OOO why....? you got your crystal wish, sheat loads of crystals from a +15 weapon ;) If you would have wished for a OE weapon you would have got it to max +5 :p
The week that I failed 3 or 4 Draconic Bow crafts in a row. My therapist tells me that I need to purge that unpleasant memory, if I want to be mentally healthy again. Working on it.
Oh yea, failing crafts is prob one of the most painful aspects of l2.
Mine was,
When I failed 6, yes SIX draconic armour crafts IN A ROW.
I then said *** it, and decided to sit in girin and sell a bunch of crap and pay the ridiculous amount of adena required to just BUY an s-grade set rather than attempt to waste years of my life crafting one.
you must to be very lucky then :)
i got only 1 fail on TTS neclace, but fortunately i found PK running around me and truing to escape from some guys .... lucky i got BSOE to escape after i got the "drop" (lol it was Drac LA recipe) just enought to buy TTS set unsealed and MA gloves and circlet (and some fire stones)
C3, my first ever char, light elf mystic, level 11, neutral zone (it felt dangerous at the time lol). I had already decided to be a healer, so naturally I wanted to get a party so someone could hit stuff while I healed (and I had only had the SP to buy "Heal" and other non-hitstuff spells).
You guessed it... I spent the next few hours searching for someone to join my party, I ended up having to run all the way to gludio before anyone would speak to me, and when I got there and asked for a party I was told "Go learn nuker skills, healers are crap in the game anyway". Crushed and impressionable, I deleted her and started again with a human warrior thinking to myself if this game was really that bad I could at least just solo stuff without dying much (so I started my *later-to-be* Phoenix Knight).
i was most dissapointed when i got to know that all the EPIC RAIDS are farmed by the ****** big clans ..
thats not fare man .. i wanted to be able to go along with 200+ ppl n take out anarthas or bium or even ant queen ..
also i have always made a Ranger as my main .. n for most MMO my main class is always an ELF .. but here i have a SR who takes soo much damage has low evasion and juces me for all my hard earned cash ..
for all those who wanna start L2 with a SR i suggest not to coz its 1 of the most expensive characters to lvl ..
Realizing that the Divine Summoner Transformation SUCKS
Nothing beats dumping 100 hours going from 79-80 and then another 300 hours or so going from 77 to 80 to get the Divine Summoner Transformation. I didn't have high expectations of the transformation, but come on... it's your reward for getting 80/80. Needless to say, I'm no longer playing the game(gave away my account) and the only reason I'm able to post this is because I activated my spare account for the PTS.
The moment in L2 that was most DISAPPOINTING to me was when NC Soft initiated newbie buffs up to lvl40... and then to continue those same Bewbie buffs up to lvl 62. The "Herb" buffs didn't help at all either, along with the scroll substitutions for what live classes SHOULD/could only provide.
The most harmful disappointment was when the EULA was bastdardized by NC Soft in order to keep what sad monetary flow yet remained in the game... Outside of it's "legit" customers that had the same model as their "un-legit" cousins.
The moment that I got really disappointed had to do with crafting. I set myself to craft a Bloody Orchid for my warcryer. I worked really hard for a long time using my spoiler and crafter to make enough materials (loosing time from exping main). I saved every adena I could to get everything right and gathered enough items for 2 crafting attempts. I thought "If one fails, the other will not". What a fool I was. Almost quit the game then (or worse, use illegit means) if a friend hadn't borrowed me substancial amount of money (it took me forever to pay back) :(

Excluding the random EULA and dual boxing ranting, I agree with this. I remember getting healed on my dwarf from a herb and getting like 3,000 hp back and I was like WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? Even a bishop in one shot cannot heal for that much. Now you don't see that because it only heals you to full.
Buffs up to 62... well, although it's nice for everyone BUT support, I can't even imagine what that does to new support classes. Either they quit or reroll because their buffs are not needed, or they solo up that whole way and don't know how to party play. Grim either way.
buying the account and finding out that actually i cant achieve high lvls and pvp much unless i bot/farm 20/7/365 for few years, when private servers can avoid botting... yes this IS disappointing as hell
second one - after rolling SE found out that noone wants alive one in pt and had to reroll or solo...

LOL I have serveral disappointing moments, but I think the one that takes the cake is when one of my clan leaders picked a BD that was 50% higher then me for a party we all could of gone to. :/
Second was when I decied to be stupid and tick off the wrong group of people >.< I had to quit for 6 mths because of it LOL i was loosing more exp then I was gaining.
C1 Killing spiders on TI getting money to finally port to gludin just to realize i get ***** by everything there... starting to delevel and having to sell my sword (T______T) to get back to TI and regrind my levels...

I have to agree, the only thing that REALLY gets to me anymore is failing crafts... because it still takes a lot of money and effort to get the stuff together for them and then... nothing

78 SE will become very good this tuesday, but still lack a real heal yet are classified as healers.... sigh. Playing one live is still an exercise in masochism.
Most disapointing? when i hit 79 and understood what i was going to go through to get 80
agree... I have reached 79 and oh, it is soooo slow now. truly, the grind in this game is insane, and this is one thing that makes me consider quitting. Having a life and getting high level legitly cannot coexist so, will my clan be ok with me being 79 forever or will I have to leave sometime? Or just leave for my own good? I'll maybe see 80 by the end of the year. let's not even talk about level 85 k. Even more disheartening is knowing all my enemies out level me and always will (no matter how many times they get their toons banned... they just make more).
most disappointing moment of L2 for me was not when i lost 40% doing sub quest...but was when i realized that i will never get a wep i want to +8 and up(almost always fails goin +5)
