the drop rate is again lower since yesterday night. Just like every event, the first launch day they drop like "hell". And the day after...its so hard that you get any event drop that the only thing to do is selling all the items gathered until de end of the event. At least for me.
There are will not be any Cs dropped for the first few days.... until someone figures out the drop ratio for the Cs was put in wrong. Then there will be a "Maintenance" period to fix it and we will all move on as happy as we can be.

I've been hunting same spot for 6 hrs today, it seemed to me that the drop rate was depending on the time of the day, during the first 3 hrs I had one letter every 3 mobs apx, and for the last 3 hrs it dropped only every 5-6 mobs...
Like always, 1st day perfect drop rate and the day after it sux so hard than the only good solution is to selling all that event stuff to take any profit of this if you didnt got a queen ant already on the 1st day ;)

Good times for all.
Weird they have to shutdown the server twice in a day unless something needs to be fix asap, we probably will never know the real reason behind thought.

Well i played yesterday at 2h in the morning gmt +1. Teon server.
So Pretty Much your AM (say 8am) is midnight My time (a close freind lives in the same time zone) If you got on at say 11am your time thats 4am my time,
Meaning that your night is our day, so for those that play at night in the US were screwed, and for those that are working the US is screwed.
Honeslty the drops shouldnt be better at one time or another, it needs to be at a certain rates at all times. if its gonna be a random letter every 3 mobs it needs to be that way all the way areound, no lvl differences, no time differences ect.
After a couple hours sleep, I figured I'd check it out before work. Between 0600 and 0700 EST the drop rate continues to totally blow. I was getting 3 boxes (all common, no 5's or II's) about every 15 minutes of constant grinding and spamming SS.
Several have said it...but this event is officially a bust! Might get better over the weekend, but I doubt it. I am starting to lean towards SC450's post that there were limited event items....and all you greedy clannies are sitting on them, to later charge us max prices :-P

I know some rewards are like wtf... but overall if you try more than 1,2 and 10 times you will get something useful and valuable, I rather prefer a scroll of scape to some place than the common life stone which I have in lots.

I was sure it will happen, so i was very happy after playing first night all night long and get actualy 49 sets! (34x LineageII and 15x 5Years) and hundrets of other letters.
Now... now event looks like standart NC events, so i don't bother to play for event anymore, just keep leveling normaly. (in last 2 hours i got 1 set... wohoo...)

I'd consider 1 drop every 5 mobs a fabulous drop rate! The other night Spuddy and I were on alts and I killed 65 mobs and got 3 letters.....at around 9:30-10:00 pm EST.
No. 3 total letters. An "N" and a couple of "A's" I believe. 65 straight mobs and 3 total letters.
In all the letters I've collected I have no C's and two 5's.
Last night in WOA I believe I spelled "GELA II" after a couple of buffrounds....

my buddy that has 3 bot trains running also reports not getting any "c". If 3 24/7 parties cant get them, it doesn't exist imo.

So after hours of hunting in the catacombs I swear I had decided that if the next letter I got was another E I was gonna have the same little hissy fit that my 2 year old niece did at naptime today. I swear I got 5 E's in a row (not back to back of course, just one letter every 5 to 6 mobs). Then suddenly, as if the gamer goddess had heard my prayer, I got a 5, II, Y, R, and 5 as my next letters. WOO HOO - lol. Then of course the lucky streak ran out and I was back to E's and G's and A's. So my good letters are for sale in Giran currently :D since I got tired of turning them in and getting only juices. Edit: In the time it took me to write this post I made 9 million off my letters (I know that is by no means rich but for a 4x newbie in common C I'm ecstatic!) I seriously did not think people would pay for letters that only took me 4 hours to hunt.

I wish I had screenshotted the first reply to my petition about the C's not dropping at all, it blew me away, they do not realize that NO C's are dropping >< so I had to reply to it and this is what I got back

The silly thing is not that the letter does not drop at all (that can happen when putting in an event, we had that on the last letter event, too, and then they fixed it) - it is that they (NCSoft) DO NOT REALIZE that the event is broken. It seems they do not read the board and do not react to player feedback that there is something wrong with the event. I wonder if they even have any statistics, like e.g. how many of each word were turned in.

Well, I opened a support ticket and got an answer pretty similar to the petition response above ("some of the rarer letters might not drop as often as anyone would expect").
So either it is by design that MAYBE one "C" drops per server (if that, I am still convinced they do not drop at all), so that the happy guy who gets it can then turn it in for a soe:gludin, or NCSoft NA have absolutely no clue how to check whether this event is working as intended or not AND they do not even read the player feedback - otherwise they maybe would have contacted somebody in Korea and asked to have the code checked again.
GRACIA is the middle reward, it would make 0 sense for the C to drop less frequently than the event top reward which is 5YEARS.
Besides, nobody in clan/alliance got a C and we 're talking over 250 people ... We even repeatedly hero shouted for a C offering 1 billion for one, nobody had one. I think they just forgot to add it ... no biggie it would just have been nice if one of those people from NcSoft that supposedly checks the forum bothered to say something ... I mean I made this thread a few hours after Gracia went live :S

Well I'm gonna suggest that our one "I got a C" guy was telling fibs. I think the event was broken and C wasn't added to the database. I have seen no evidence of one and neither has anyone else on this thread.
As someone else said though, GRACIA was the 'middle' award tier. It makes sense then that C would drop at a rate somewhere in between II and 5/S (the rare ones from the other words). But I have got three 5's, three S's and about 7 IIs in this event. So yep ... C wasn't in there I'd say.
Nice event guys! Last time you forgot to put a letter in you patched it within a day or two of the start of the event so it wasn't a big deal, but this time it seems you just don't care. Perhaps because you can make other words, so it's OK that you can't make GRACIA?

I haven't had a 5 or II drop to me since the miantenance. I won't mention "C"s. This event was good at first because the letters actually dropped but the event has turned into a big let down.
So last night I was hunting in an unusual spot. In the last week I have gotten three 'II' and no '5' and no 'C'. Then in this unusual spot within 10 minutes of hunt time I got one 'II' and two '5' and quite a few of the semi-rare ones like 'Y'.
I wasn't there for a long time but it was unusual enough to make me think that perhaps there is some mob/location specificity for the rare letters. I will be testing it out all afternoon and evening today.
PS No, I'm not saying where until after the event. Sorry, I'm greedy.

All the old letters from previous events are called L2 Day - "random letter here". The new ones, like the Y's and 5's , are L2Day - Letter "5,Y" Someone messed up with the name on C and the game was like naaahh not dropping it! I solved the mystery! (yeah I am bored out of my mind)

I will probably sound really cynical saying this but... What good is looking into it now? the event is over... And no way they will add C to drop later on.
And to the previous poster who said noone got core ring.. i know of 2 people who got it, 1 was my ex-ally and 1 was my clanmate, so the core rings do go around... people just don't make that much fuss of it because its significantly less valuable

I don't want to insinuate we will be able to provide a resolution for this specific event, however, it does appear that something may have gone wrong. The best thing we can do at this point is determine where it went wrong and use that knowledge to prevent similar issues in the future.

I know I'm going to sound like a real cynical ***** but...the last guy said the exact same thing and nothing changed. This is a once a year event and your position is never filled longer then 8 months. You've "been" with the company for a while, you should know this. Even if you do find out what went wrong the next team/person/whatever will make the exact same mistake, just like they did the year before.
If you really care then start up a new event asap to make it up to us. If not, just go back to whatever it is your job is besides posting empty promises. It's cruel to the gullible forum fanboys and irritating to the rest of us :(

If tomorrow you announced that all players were going to get 1 billion adena just for playing, that subclasses were as simple as talking to an NPC, and that all bots had been removed I absolutely PROMISE you'd hear right on these forums some form of the following:
a) Waaaaa! How come I only get ONE billion? What am I gonna do with that?
b) If everyone else gets the same billion I got--I'm quitting! You suck!
c) It's not fair that subclasses are so EASY now! I'm quitting!
d) I hate bots!

in RL, if someone is complaining nearby, do you walk up to them and tell them they are being a big baby? i doubt you act like that.

I'm pretty sure that someone from NC has a forum account and could have at the very least let us know they were "aware of the issue" at the beginning of the event. Waiting until the end is poor form indeed. Par for the course though, I must say. :o

As for me, if someone is complaining nearby that a bear is going to get them--I don't tell them they are being a big baby. If someone is complaining that the sunny day is "just too much to TAKE"--then yes, I tell them they are being a big baby.
It's not complaining that is a problem here or in general. You have to admit, after reading the hundreds (if not thousands) of whine-rants, many of them are very funny!
And I tried to add a little levity, no doubt. We've all seen almost the exact examples that I used while trying to get a laugh.
And too--the "I quit" threads, the "I want MORE" threads, the "gimme, gimme, gimme" threads...they just scream out "fragile sissies" to me. Sorry--just the way I read them...generally through smiling eyes on my part.

When half of the fanboys butt in and attack "complainers" like myself with rants and personal flames, nc probably scrolls through the thread, rolls their eyes, and assumes it's just some little forum fight that doesn't need any looking into.

You know who I am talking about, thousands of posts with low level characters and if they do have decent level characters it's only because they have been playing 1 hour a day for FIVE YEARS. Yes, you have the right to play at your own pace but no, you don't have the right to speak for all of us which you always end up doing.

So if your united theory of important feedback and demands is valid, NCSoft would be working day and night and we'd see just massive efforts that eventually (say in 5 years or so) would see bots gone.......
Since it didn't happen, it makes me wonder about your unified theory of complaints. It serves what purpose again? It has made what change in the game? Uh huh--that would be "nothing". We all want to believe in lofty democratic principles--and as good sounding as they are, very, very few private companies operate that way. Mostly because direct democracy is a monumentally ineffective way to accomplish anything.

The drop rates should be set across the board 24/7 at one rate and left that way for each and every event.
Almost every event the drop rates fluctuate depending on the most active playtimes.
This hurts the players that do not play during those most active playtimes.
A set drop rate fixed and observed giving the normal player a chance to actually gain alot of drop items would not hurt the economy of the game.
As this and most other events, only the bots/farmer trains ended up with mega loads of event items, this can be seen on any server in giren.
If the drop rate was set and fixed, this last event players would not have seen a drastic decrease in the drops after the first day like we did.
Actually it's the complaint that so many players have about these types of events IS WHY the drop rate gets so screwed up. In order to give bots the lowest number of event items the drop is nerfed when the population of the server gets low then the drop is increased when more players come online. Bots still end up with more event items since they are on 24/7 but if the drops were not nerfed there would be a ton of event items on the market.
NCSoft is not willing to stop the bots but they are willing to adjust the drop rates so that the game will not become flooded with event items because of the bots.
As far as the players go, well it does seem that other than having an event that there isn't any consideration to what the players see as a good event. If the players want event items they can pay a botter a few million adena for rare letter.

I agree with what you are saying, BUT a simple fact remains supply and demand.
If the normal player has the option to accure all the drop items they want or need, then the demand for purchasing same drops items from bots/farmers decreases.
Simple economics, as supply goes up demand goes down, but as it is usually in events demand is high due to low drop rate to normal players and supply is met by the bots/farmers that have hundreds to thousands of drop items to sell.
I agree if the drop ratio was left at a fixed value 24/7 YES the bots and farmers would still have the majority of the drops, BUT if the normal players can gain all the drops they desire, then the bots are left with useless drops they cannot sell before the event ends.
