And this is proof why? I can chat and buff at the same time without using a macro its really not that hard if your buttons are positioned right. you click one then click the next type, click the next and the following one right after talk... you get atleast two buffs in per talking. (my buffers not a wit buffer :P, my buffer is a Battle mage!)

I use a highly invasive one: combo WW buff. Then their SE bot runs OOM and cannot buff VR :p

Does the char pause at a certain distance from each mob he kills?
Does the char switch target after not getting into hes set range to start attacking for 10 seconds or so (even when the mob is just 3 steps ahead of him/her)?
botted buffer/healer:
Does the buffer/healer stand up and sit down after 2-3 steps all the time?
Does the buffer/healer always seems to know exactly where the character they are following is going? (best way to see this is if the char in front does a 90 degree or more turn, then you will see the buffer/healer stop following and sometimes get in front of the char they are following)
Does the buffer/healer follow the char in front so accurate that it even makes the same turns as the char they are following?
bot train:
look at all the above when it comes to the targeter and healers/buffers, the auto follow thing applies to all chars following the targeter.
does all the DD chars in the party pause and wait for the targeter to attack at a set distance from every mob?
there are a few more things you can look for, but I will keep that for my self. I don't want to reveal all the flaws of the bot programs that the botters that may read this forum is using.

No. I'm telling you that your bot behavior detection is lacking and is completely useless in many cases.
The easiest way to spot botting is the way the party follows. Auto-follow never gets ahead, and always goes straight for where it's follow target IS, not where it's going.
If you see a party following someone, all being in the same spot, that's a bot party, if you see a buffer turn and run to a new location before reaching it's follow-target, that's a bot, if you see a buffer get ahead of it's follow target, but still stop the same range behind where it ends up, that's a bot.
What you said in your post is not the case for the majority of bots, some, but not that many. And the talking part is completely wrong, if someone talks while buffing they are definitely not botting, a bot rarely talks, and certainly never on it's buffer

Auto-follow in L2 seems to be at a predetermined distance of 6 or so steps behind the person you're following. Bots have their auto-follow distance set for each bot and can be different. Which is why you have bots stacked on top of each other or running on each other's heels.
The in-game autofollow does not allow for such close stacking and the preset distance cannot be closed by having ww or any other buff.
Bots work in uniformity. Their patterns are extremely repetitive and they are not deterred by lag. Even the best bot programs cannot simulate the occasional "oops" that you would get with a team of real players.
In any real setting, people have to leave, people go afk, people flub heals and attacks and ABSOLUTELY NO REAL LIFE MAGE SITS DOWN IN AN ATTACKING PARTY FOR 8 SECONDS TO REGEN MANA.
It's just common sense to detecting bot trains, and I could get it right 100% of the time.
One can talk while buffing/fighting but some delays in various other actions usually manifest. Sometimes they might not show, depends on how lucky/efficient you are. (reflex/etc)
I was asked if I bot once for being to efficiently in moving from to mob and handling packs of mobs... as a dwarf (on my spoiler). (i was actually partying with someone in catacombs, me and him dwarves spoiling for some god forsaken recipe)
Amazing.. I was.. O.o... Some people should really learn what efficiency is esp in a game such as L2 where mindless grinding and thus killing speed/body count per hour is what makes you forward in a decent manner.
You can tell if someone is suspicious easily, but jumping to conclusions is also annoying for the target of your "investigations".
As some said already there are ways of determining if someone is a bot, and simply punishing them for it, that is if no bot protector is around.. :/.
What I would like NC-Soft to do is change the programming so that when players encounter BOTS it is easier for us to aggro mobs to them. For whatever reason in the Catacombs if I see Bots targeting a Mob and going to attack it if I real quick cast a damage skill on it the whole Bot Party stops and changes target.
You would think NC-Soft would make it so at least real players could mess with Bots more easily without going purple, or red.
That way the players could police the problem in game and maybe have fun doing it.

I caught a few who after I told them how I know they're bot openly admitted that they where botting and that they also stated ncsoft wouldn't do nothing about it. I print screened there response and reported them and guess what. Ncsoft did something about there account.

Gameguard is a piece of ****, it is created to stop key loggers and things like that from Asian internet cafe's. It is in NO WAY an anti cheating tool. And doesn't function as one.
Gameguard blocks a lot of things, but usually only after it's started up. It used to block firefox. It's a big steaming pile of ****

No I haven't done your method because it's crap. All your bot busting tips are bad and unreliable, one of them is just completely wrong, the thing they have in common is that only 1/10 bots would fail your "test".

My dwarf has been labelled as bot by white knights more than once. It's like I should suddenly try to find creative ways to play a solo spoiler. Should I roleplay with the mobs instead of using the /nexttarget or /target [whatsherface] or simple click on the mob followed by the shortcut /attack, Spoil or Seed, just because that makes me go to the next mob in straight line?
Solo dwarf is so boring I have the time to move the camera around to see where the next nearest mob is.
And no I don't feel obliged to answer to a paranoid who want to test me. However I know white knights are feeling awkward when they understand their mistake so if they start to hit me, they get an answer. But they aren't all that courageous.
It's so easy to detect bot/bots that is shameless and disrespectful when staff takes too long (or dont do anything at all) to ban bots and they have the guts to say to us "we need evidence to ban people". It's hilarious and disrespectful.
Besides all the "common" ways to detect a bot, "anything" that don't respond my PM's/open chat/flagging while they still moving and killing mobs, for me its a bot. I never suspected wrong of someone botting and if one day it happens I'll apologize to him and give him some free shots. Sadly that never happened. Because of their failure to deal with the cheaters in this game, I will not give Aion or any other NCSoft product a chance. I can't in good conscience recommend this game or any other by NCSoft to my friends. I have watched a number of friends, in game, leave because of the problems created by the cheaters (botters, ebayers,3rd party programs, etc.).
We stay because we like this game (but not the cheaters) and haven't left because there is no real alternative. That includes Aion, which looks like it will have the same problems but only with prettier graphics. One would think that when people do leave Lineage, that NC would want them to go to one of their other games (like Aion), but their failure to deal with the cheaters and their total lack of communication is destroying any customer loyalty to their games.
I been playing L2 for over 2.5 years now and most of the people I know have been playing just as long, if not longer. One would think that is the sort of customer NC would want. However, none of them will be going to Aion and they are are all looking for a good mmo. NC soft has to get off their butts and do something soon otherwise you will lose them for good. Someone posted a youtube video of the new mmo's coming on the horizon, and to be quite blunt I think most people will try them out first before going to aion or coming back to L2, especially giving either their inability or unwilliness to deal with the cheaters.
NC Soft has gotten a bad reputation for the cheating and if they don't deal with it soon. I don't see them surviving, given the number of alternatives that will become available.

Actually they fixed the bug where if you talk it cancels a buff macro. And from what I seen bots auto follow flawless even in the dungeons, now as for a regular player auto following does not work quite as well

I quite like giving bot parties the focus/dw combo buff, and watching the healers waste all of their mp trying to give the bots focus and death whisper - thus eventually killing them all.
I'll sometimes give them a hand by getting the bot down to 200 hp after the healer's wasted all of its mp.
Before people flame me and say that this only works on stupid botters, you're probably correct - but in my experience it works a lot of the time, and it's quite an effective way to clear out a catacomb room without getting 99999999999 karma (that's called an exaggeration, and is not to be taken literally).

Anyone who has same level and same gear as you are, but own you in PVP is a bot.
Anyone whos is other than you is a bot.

you people are like flys in SCwhatever web. He launches some discussion about bots and everybody start telling his opinion, people just read his op and realize he has 0 experience in noticing bots, let him do his little cruceid and just ignore him geeez.
I quite like giving bot parties the focus/dw combo buff, and watching the healers waste all of their mp trying to give the bots focus and death whisper - thus eventually killing them all.
I'll sometimes give them a hand by getting the bot down to 200 hp after the healer's wasted all of its mp.
Before people flame me and say that this only works on stupid botters, you're probably correct - but in my experience it works a lot of the time, and it's quite an effective way to clear out a catacomb room without getting 99999999999 karma (that's called an exaggeration, and is not to be taken literally).
too bad I cant do the same with my WC.. but if i ever decide to lvl again my other support toons (SE, PP) its one of the things i'd like to try :D
they wont kick bots for l2 no mater how many millions aion has....
cause the moment they do that l2 dies...

Well, there are botters ect..but dont say 99% because thats just madness. Also L2 isnt dying...It was already predicted on 2004 that l2 is dead..and we are still here with great updates. Remember L1 is still kicking around with a huge population. And Aion wont change it a bit since its a wow-like game.
i am legit ... one account.... slowly coming to 80 :) with 75 sub... why ppl bot ? where is fun ?? But i am poler... polers exp is diffrent - i can make solo on CH buffs 0,25% with vit 0 at 79 in 15 minutes...

1% is not 1 player (you) 1 % might be about 1000 players... so yes 1 % is not botting and 99% are
this post is funny, one of the millions on botting.. but.. still funny.
earlier today a huge PK train came through Killing "bots" in goddard. from what i saw they got 2 Bots and 1 Legit player who was playing near me. I could tell he was legit by the way he was playing in general. somehow i didn't get attacked because the PK group were obvious idiots, as they ran through and Didnt even kill 1/5th the bots in the area and 1/3rd of whot hey did kill / try to kill were legit players.
to me this identifies a major flaw in the game as well as the fact those people were idiots. no matter what u do, this game is made for people who can handle Robotic game play. Kill, Kill, whats next? kill. not much more than that, nO way to mix it up. No strategy really in skill usage, Just use em. no moving when fighting in order to gain an advantage.. just stand there and swing away.
to the guy who wouldn't recommend any NC game. I don't know about Aion, but not all NCsoft games have major botting problems. I.E. CoH doesn't really have bot issues, farmers are there a little bit but the level of skill required to "farm" in CoH is enough to make the farmers not botters, and usually if u happen to get a farmer in your team its rather obvious because they play like ******s.
And yes id say 99% are botters or Have botted in L2. Im legit i dont play hardcore been playing since april 2004.. and im only now 72 close to 73, i just dont have time to keep playing constantely to me this is reality. a hard core player could make 80 in the 5 years + that ive been playing sure. infact i personalyl feel that if Bots and Adena seller sdidnt exist in the game thins would come easier (as legit players can distribute items between clans and whatnot and organize things better, instead of having the bot players farm up millions of items that legit players need and set the prices. Anyway im ranting i better leave to. have fun
I believe that.. I have my main 0 to sub in 3 years + 7 months, and 40-65 on the sub in 2 months..
I have a number of other toons - as in my mind variety is the spice of life.. if I could only have played one toon in L2 it would (she would) either be very high level now, or I would have quit the game...
So, say if I have two PCs side by side and one has a nostromo. Would if be considered legal if I set the nostromo to assist me on another DD from the other PC? From what those GM responses said, I think it is.
NOTHING is ok, dont trust Gm's on anything they say. Everytime you log into L2 you run the risk of being banned even if you have never used 3rd party programs, mouse/keyboard or anything else. They have no real tool and can ban without even testing or talking to you so it can happen to anyone at all. Goodluck dealing with them after they make one of these mistakes because you know this could NEVER happen in their eyes. LOL Lost hope after watching an account of 5 years get banned by mistake and seeing how dumb GM's really are.
