Greetings Lineage II players!

We are now accepting submissions for the Lineage® II: Gracia Final Guide and Tutorial Contest. For more information on the contest, click here (http://www.lineage2.com/archive/2009/06/gracia_final_pl.html) to go to the contest page. The creator of the first place chosen guide or tutorial will receive 30 days of free game time for use on any new or existing Lineage II account in good standing and twenty Revita Pops granted to one character of their choice. Three Runners Up will receive 5 Revita Pops granted to one character of their choice. Official rules for the contest can be found here (http://www.lineage2.com/community/guide-contest.html).

Good luck everyone!
2. ELIGIBILITY

you must be a resident of the United States (excluding the State of Rhode Island, and excluding Guam, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories, military installations and commonwealths), Canada (excluding Quebec) (Canadian residents will be required to answer an additional mathematical question in order to claim their prizes) No Europeans allowed at all?
No Europeans allowed at all?

Yup, no euro players allowed. Sigh. I want vitapops >.<
Is it allowed to steal the guides from other website? :O
We are working on some changes that will allow us to hold contests in multiple international territories, but these rules are not yet in place. As a result, this contest is limited to the US and Canada as mentioned. Moving forward, we can expect to see contests returning to more territories.
i'm wondering

how exactly someone could describe in his guide that "Kirklan" npc in the new gracia quest is actually "Kutran" npc's real name or "Jinbi" to another quest is "Ginby".
I'm sure that is something that requires some good creative skills =D

I mean, months after Gracia released, with a translation that many believe that came out from google translator you asking the community to put THAT work into a guide?

What were you thinking!?!?!
There are laws for US companies doing "contests" in other countries - not a lawyer, but I remember from the last time we had something like this someone came in an explained the reason why.
Could we expect news about Contest in other Countries or It's better for us to spend time on the Guide now and see after If we could participate ? :o
Previous contests were allowed in Europe. It's amazing how the previous team hasn't transmitted the methods of work to the new team. We're back to stone age. Great.

About the translation : you're very mean, they're making alot of effort, it's not written "Seed of Immortality" anymore on the map. Really good work. Now I'm not even sure it should be translated "seed" anyway. It looks more like flesh than vegetation, right?
As a Canadian I think its ******ed that youve just cut out a large portion of your player base without thinking which is what was done....
Doesn't NC have an office in Europe?

Shouldn't they be allowed to host the same contest?

Here is an idea:

on the next 5 contests, make ONLY Euro players to be able to participate (you have held several dozen events where only NA players could participate that had great rewards).
like vita-pops even matter...

merge all the servers down to one legit and one high-rate for the cheaters and just move on to aion already. it's the future and we all know it.
oh and it's a great way to get the site updated without it costing you anything by letting the players them self help you update your site for few in game items.
Great... just because I live in england I can't even try... :(

On a brighter note, at least theres a contest! Good luck to all who enter.

Prizes are only in-game so what the problem to allow eu players for that Oo?
I dont understunt , there are no L2 box version that will must be send to our homes in eu so ?

Anyway gl all who can enter :(

sry for my english ^^

better than most of the L2 npc's.

oh snap. i went there.

NCsoft have an office in Brighton, England.
Ok nice thing, really liked the idea.
Had some great ideas I could do but I live in Sweden.
I dont know why I even thought I could join this event, and why I even get abit upset by this. has been like this forever, but you go ahead and "work" on it.

None the less I am looking forward to see what people can make.
I have a quick question about the event. Say I were to create a video with a partner and we were to enter the contest together. Would there be a way to split the vita pops between the two accounts? The time would obviously have to go to one account...but vita pops? Please? I like teamwork!
Putting your account ID in a cleartext message in email is potentially worrisome.

Then again logging into the forums here can be the same if you don't use the secure login methods.

My clan has tons of guides on our website and forums, but few want to submit because of potential account security concerns.

Second issue / question - the contest says "guides or tutorials for any new content introduced with Gracia Final" -- which I interpret as meaning tutorials should only be for new quests / locations from the most recent chronicle? (Not interested in a guide for the Water Dragons in Chromatic Highlands - or Blacksmith Ram?)

This would seem to make the list something like:

Territory Wars (hoo boy do we need a guide on this!)
Elemental Enchants beyond stones
New Quests in Gracia
Flight PvP
New Raid Bosses in Gracia
Seeds of Destruction / Infinity
Collector Agathions
etc.?

Unfortunately we cannot split up the rewards. You will only be able to claim them on a single character.
interestingly enough, until gracia+, vita-pops are useless to anyone high level enough for gracia...unless used on a sub but who does those anymore?

Well, if you have a guide for Gracia or otherwise you can submit it to us and enter our contest, it allows for swedes and europeans :) And there's many prizes!
Why is this contest restricted to US and canadian residents? I would say most players are from Europe and Russia. And we have three EU Servers (Location: Germany)
Sorry, I can't understand this.

What rules you need to make it international???

we need the rest of the world to hate just those running the country and not america as a whole...then the sanctions will stop and restrictions will be lifted.

But but... Americans are the remnants of criminals and **********s immigration! :(

To be serious, the rules to make it international were already there with the previous team. If Lyzira is unable to put them back, she's the only one to blame.

we love australia but they don't quite feel the same about us anymore.

Shameless advertising :D
Shameless advertising :D

at least someone's doing SOMETHING around here.

at least he's shamelessly advertising for l2 instead of the mods advertising for aion.
i still wonder just how many guides from ellybellie vault and stratics will be copypastad.

Dont get my wrong I really like what he and his friends are doing.

Well the entries will need to be original, and I'll be checking to make sure that people are not trying to pass others' guides off as their own.

Wonderful. That was a concern I had too.
Europeans are bad.Franz,Teon,Luna are the most ebayed/boted/exploited servers.
That is why NC thought that we don't gonna show enthusiasm to a contest like this.

P.S.:Wait,you mean that there is no NC Europe?Oh noes.
I hope smb. will eventually ctrl+C, ctrl+V some guides from stratics or blah or Russian forums to win the contest? :D
And what if somebody translates the guide from, let's say Polish or Finnish or any other language into English?

anyway it would be Awesome.

and what if they were the original author?

oh plZ! A few new words, and you would never tell one from the other!

plz you don't know Russian\Poland etc. right? lol:eek:

L2 US/EU should be run by NC Europe. Seriously.

i don't understand why it's not already outsourced to india or somewhere like the rest of the american companies do.

be pretty funny though...asian company operating in america outsourcing to asia.

yup
Yup, no euro players allowed.

Unfair imo..

Wait 'till I make my own NCSoft EU company :P (j/k)
So Europeans could not contest ? Since the begin of the month nothing changed ?

doubt there was any additional thought even paid.
4. SELECTION OF WINNING ENTRIES

The winning submissions will be determined by representatives of the Sponsor, and will be judged equally on the following criteria: creativity, originality, and overall presentation. Winners will be notified via e-mail and announced on the Official Lineage® II Web Site on or about Friday, August 14, 2009. Entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules and Conditions and any and all decisions of the judges, which are final and binding in all respects.

7. WINNERS LIST

The winners of this Contest will be posted on the Official Lineage® II Web Site no later than Friday, July 31, 2009.

Did anyone else notice the discrepancy over when exactly we'll know who won? I assume it will be the August 14 date...
Did anyone else notice the discrepancy over when exactly we'll know who won? I assume it will be the August 14 date...

It is the August 14th date, that appears to be an oversight as the final date to accept entries was the 31st. Thanks for letting me know :)
Still no winners ? :(
Still no winners ? :(

Not yet. :( It does say "on or about August 14" so maybe on Monday. I think the puzzle-piece hiding was a little more popular. I can't wait to see the winning guides tho. I love look at other ppl's work!
Did we forget about the contest?
The contest has not been forgotten, however it takes some time to get everything signed and squared away.

Okie. Please excuse my impatience. I'm just excited to see/congratulate the winners!
Hopefully, it was someone who wrote a guide to Pagan's Temple. Would be nice to see a Chickenator do something like that.
*smirks*

There be some serious squarin' goin' on. ^^
The page with the new guide will be put up soon :)
Entrants must create their own guides or tutorials for any new content introduced with Gracia Final

Gratz to the winner... but...

Pagan's was not added in Gracia Final, was it? Were we allowed to write a guide on anything? Because that's not what the rules said...
We are eager to see what clever, comprehensive, and useful guides and tutorials our players can create for the latest addition to Lineage® II, Gracia Final.

Entrants must create their own guides or tutorials for any new content introduced with Gracia Final and submit the guide or tutorial to the Lineage II team for review

NC FAIL again lol great job ..... this is why i dont waste my time with events, i mean they failed an event which isnt even in-game. Just a couple dudes/girls around a table saying which one followed the rules and was the best one; and that was too complicated to get right?
I "was" going to make a tutorial on something but i didn't have any good idea within the gracia+ that could make a nice guide out of. Would have done what I wanted to do if it was open to everything :P!

likewise. the winner made a very nice guide... just seems a little unfair since it doesn't appear to technically follow the rules.

maybe they're weren't a lot of entries tho... and they had to pick a winner.
I agree that the winner had a great tutorial but imo if it was gonna be everything should have been said so from the start. Id have submitted one for lower level quests, as i do those more often ^^. To create interest with some newer players perhaps add in different catagories:

Levels 1-51 Quest/Zones
Winner: 5 Revita Pops
Runner up: 1 Revita Pop

Levels 52-75 Quest/Zones
Winner: 10 Revita Pops +15 Day Game Card
Runner up: 3 Revita Pops

Levels 76+ Quest/Zones
Winner: 20 Revita Pops + 30 Day Game Card
Runner up: 5 Revita Pops

Best Class Change quest:
Winner: 5 Revita Pops

Best Class Guide: (Could have an event with one winner from each class just for this one category ;) )
Winner 5 Revita Pops

Add on to that you can only win one level category out of them all. If you would win multiples only the highest category would be won and the lower catagory would be given to runner up to win. Best Class categories could be one with one of the other three categories.
Gratz to the winner... but...

Was thinking the same thing.
And only one participated?
Next let Europe been in it and you might get more.

O btw the guide was very nice written. gz!

Wow, ofc the prizes would have to be Revita pops lol.
lol they wouldnt have to be i could care less if its revita pops or a tradeable headpiece to be honest just stuck with following the previous event rewards that was all.
What event had Revitapops as reward?

Can you people get anything right?
Seriously lyzira, do the judges even play l2? And how could let this one slip by? Do you seriously believe that pagans was added to the game this update?

The guide isn't even on par with the current state of the game. Maybe those things were true when it was added to the game 3 years ago but right now almost anyone can solo there with minimal buffs...

and did you even check the accuracy of what was written? Like the section about drops

Pagan's Temple is considered one of the best places in the game for XP, and the drops include:

Scrolls of Escape: Rune Township, Ketra Orc Village, Varka Silenos Village

Scrolls of: Mystic Empower, Windwalk

Black Treasure Chests which may contain Premium Fish Oils

Level 76 Lifestones

Einhasad's Holy Water - Rquired for Cardinal's Cleanse and Salvation spells. These can be bought in the Ivory Tower, but Pagan's Temple may be the only place these drop.

Elixir of CP- S grade

Is completley made up and false, so not only did you totally mess up the rules, but you published a guide thats false and missleading on the official site. Gratz on lowering the offical sites standards once again

I thought it was kinda obvious how those drops got in there lol. He didnt get them himself. He browsed a site with drop info. Apparently their sniffer saw ppl picking up stuff like elixirs etc that dont actually drop there, and the "Winner" is not smart enough to realize it.
I agree that the winner had a great tutorial but imo if it was gonna be everything should have been said so from the start. Id have submitted one for lower level quests, as i do those more often ^^.

I think a lot of people would have entered if they knew the guide could have been about anything. And definitely it should have been said from the start. I was always under the impression that "contest rules" are like a legal document and if you don't follow them, the whole contest is null and void. I'm not a lawyer though, so I can't say with certainty...

But since there was already an error in the official rules, maybe the whole thing was already void and therefore they could do what they wanted!

Did anyone else notice the discrepancy over when exactly we'll know who won? I assume it will be the August 14 date...

Prizes
* Four prizes will be awarded.
* NCsoft will publish the chosen guide(s) or tutorial(s) on the Lineage II website with credit given to the original creator of the guide or tutorial.
* The creator of the first place chosen guide or tutorial will receive 30 days of free game time for use on any new or existing Lineage II account in good standing and twenty Revita Pops granted to one character of their choice.
* Three Runners Up will receive 5 Revita Pops granted to one character of their choice and NCsoft may publish their submission on the Lineage II website with credit given to the creator.

And another thing... I only see one winner named. Who were the 3 runners up who received 5 Revita Pops?
What event had Revitapops as reward?

the rewards for this guide and tutorial contests smittie is what i was referring too and the reason why i put them up as rewards for the altered contest suggestion.
Oh, I see.

I keep looking at the guide that won, and I'm starting to doubt if the guy that wrote it ever has been to Pagans Temple. If he had, he would know that those things dont drop there...
Congratulations to our grand prize winner: Homechicken of the Phoenix server!

Check out Homechicken's guide on Pagan's Temple here (http://www.lineage2.com/guide/guide_pagantemple.html). :)

I was really disappointed when I found out that this event will be not for players from Europe, but sometimes can't be otherwise, and its not NC team wine but now seeing that person who won event made a guide that is not consistent with the principles of event.... realy n/c :(

Yeah its good place for exp and drops !!!
Oh w8 a moment ! There is not drops like this ! Oo

3epic fails in one (event not for eu players / pagan temple isnt introduce with gracia final / nice drops)...
who aggre with me ?

sry for my English :<
ive never hunted there but those drops were probably pulled from L2 WH this person was def. not correct with his guide and its gotta be pulled lyzira. Not a good guide if the drops are correct.
I've done Anterooms, Chapel rooms, Darkness corridors, Darkness room... and never I've seen dropping any specific soe, any buff scroll, any black treasure chest (which come from day fishing at top fishing level), any Einhasad Holy Water or Elixir of CP of any grade.

However I must confess I'm clean and don't do drugs. So, maybe the trick is there.

PS: On the other hand, the guide didn't mention the spoil of S-Grade Sigil parts.
Maybe the guide he read before making his didnt have those either?
Yeah, probably a copypasta from a private server. :/
I am still waiting to hear from anyone who actually wrote and submitted a guide that lost to this guide everyone is tearing apart. Or could this be a lot of sour grapes from people realizing if they had spent some time writing and submitting a guide(I mean they are all very knowledgeable about l2, I can tell that from their posts.) they could have easily won a prize. Think of the guide that could have been written by those with the time and knowledge to write two pages of posts tearing apart the winner. Having never been to pagans myself, I can't argue either way about the guides content.

I agree that it is regretful that the contest was only open to NA players, but I believe that has more to due with the always fair and equitable world of international law, and less to do with NCSoft policy. I would love to hear from anyone, someone who submitted a guide that followed the contest rules giving ncsoft another choice other than the current existing winner.
I wasn't allowed to participate. So I can't regret.
It has nothing to do with international laws, as there's been international contests in the past. They knew how to do it, they somewhat forgot how to do, it didn't transmit between the teams. It's entirely NCsoft fault.

The original point was that the winning guide itself didn't follow the rules - it should have been disqualified because it wasn't about Gracia Final, as the rules said it was supposed to be. Whether the guide is correct or not is not the point. The point is, the winner didn't follow the contest rules.

If it came down to the winner was the only one who even entered the contest - well NC could have said at any time that they were expanding the areas we could write guides about to get more entries... instead, they decided to let the guide be about anything and never bothered to mention it to the rest of us.

Maybe from now on, we should all just submit whatever we feel like for contests because there's a good chance we'll win regardless of whether our entry followed the rules. And then Kalkor can say we're all sour grapes because we entered and lost rather than we're all sour grapes because we didn't enter and the winner didn't follow the rules.
Who cares about who sent in what, the winning guide was a about a hunting zone that's been in game for like 3 years and isn't just not useful to pretty much anyone but also clearly written by someone who doesn't even know the place. The major point is that that worries me is how the ncsoft staff could let that crap slip by and put it onto their site as some kind of official guide to pagans. I mean seriously, how little do they know about l2 to publish something like that? It's truly frightening to see them believe pagans was added in ct2.3 and that they don't even have any idea what drops in there... that they could even possibly believe that those items drop anywhere on the map is beyond me. I still do like l2 and its upsetting to see it turn to crap due to dumb events that discourage players to play more than anything and members on the staff that practically know nothing of the game.
I wasn't allowed to participate. So I can't regret.

You are an EU outlaw?Me too!

Don't regret about the contest,i heard that at Devianne they killed Valakas for the 1st time before a week(a server that is live almost 2 years i think?)

Maybe they find the Pagans guide usefull there.

Still waiting on Lyzira for the explination on how the whole judging process got messed up cause atm

NC Soft judging = the French Judge
Still waiting on Lyzira for the explination on how the whole judging process got messed up cause atm

NC Soft judging = the French Judge

What do you mean by "the French Judge", by curiousity? :x
im canadian; still got a sore spot from the ice dancing judge back a couple of olymics ago sry not putting all french people in there its a saying in canada ^^
Oh, figure skating judges are always stupid. One year it's one nation, one year another... personal grief, cronyism, blind judges... you can just say "figure skating judge" and you get the picture.
wtb explanation....

How much you paying? I'll sell you one...
