Hi Siera,
I see what you mean now about volunteering updates. You mean to suggest how to redesign the website, what appearance or functions to give the website, and offer specific design concepts in blueprint form. I originally thought you mean that you wanted to write updated content on how certain parts of the game work and so on, which is an offer we sometimes hear. I'm afraid that any web development, coding, and blueprinting will be done by employees of NCsoft. This is, like above, for the sake of consistency across the brand products. Within the rules of consistency there some room for differences, however, hence the conversations in this thread.
Here are some comments I can make on suggestions you had:
1. Website color - The appearance of the website is up to the Web Team, who follow a particular protocol that they apply to all of NCsoft's game websites in an effort to maintain consistency across the brand products.
2. I followed that link to the Korean Lineage II website, here (
http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ko&u=http://lineage2.plaync.co.kr/&ei=nbRATIXxF9D7nAeXqZCfDw&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=re%20sult&resnum=1&ved=0CCcQ7gEwAA&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dl2%2Bkorea%26hl%3Den%26prmd%3Dvdf). It looks like it has their forums incorporated into the main website, whereas we use a vBulletin host. Is this what you're getting at? Can you tell my why you like this method better?
3. Same as above, player-generated content is done on a forums, embedded into the information website.
The current Lineage 2 site is just a Wiki.
I want to be able to interact with fellow L2 players in an exciting manner. If you incorporate the forums, user made Lineage 2 videos, a chat system (like IIRC), and other things relating to communication. You'd have a revolutionary site.
Just making a forum section where people can make threads about their frapses, so you can go to their link, through a website, and either download, or watch it streaming (depending on the site) is not exciting. It's strenuous. If you incorporate your own video uploading area where users can watch, comment, upload, and download other's videos, then that is a MUCH more attractive site.
Having a chat area, much like a chat room, will enable people to talk to others on different servers, or the same servers. You could even incorporate a Technical Support channel, on your website, instead of on the forums.
Incorporating the class discussion area of the forums into the actual class area on the website just sounds downright cool. A lot of websites that I've seen is like this one at the moment. You have an information Wiki, then you have a separate area for forums. That's just boring. There's no point in making the website where new people come to checkout the game look like an inactive ghost town. The livelier the better!
Website color - the website color is minorly important. However Lineage2.com isn't filled very much. It's just too empty and filled with inactivity. There is a new "latest news" post every week almost, and that's about it. It just turns off anyone who looks at it, and for those who do there's not a lot to see.
The forums LOOK the same. Things need to become livelier.
