We would like to give you, the community, the chance to name the new EU server. We will be accepting name nominations until Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 10:00 AM PDT. After the nominations have been gathered, we will put up a poll with the top picks for players to vote on. Name nominations must be part of the official Lineage II lore. For instance, names such as Darion or Valakas would be appropriate.

Well, I speak in english, but I don't care, I want the Teon name. If NCWest could solve in AION, when they merged 3 servers to 1 and its name one of the old server name they can solve it in the Lineage 2 too.

I think the GM's should give us a answer about the Teon name issue. If this is possible or we really need a brand new name for it. I mean, everybody wants the server to be called Teon :D

Teon has rougly 1.4k population, maybe 2k once in a month! If your server wouldn't need a merge then they wouldn't merge it.

Quite a few people brought up history as something remarkable. And they are absolutely right. Bartz is probably the most famous NA, and Teon is clearly the most famous EU server to be mentioned. BUT since in the first post Moxie wrote, that they need a new name for the server, we need to think of something completely new. The idea would be to start out of these two names. Like for Teon(which affects me directly) NeoTeon (NEON? :D) or something coming from that direction would be cool. Since the game is getting strange nowadays even Teflon seems to be a good decision! :p For the people obsessed with the history of the servers and the new beginning after the merge Zeon/Zion could be an option. About Bartz, they can name their server Quartz for example. :eek: I can relate. So the last words are:
EU - 1. Neon (Zion/Zeon)
NA - 1. Quartz (?? not our business, just trying to get some ideas anyhow.)
p.s.: switching the names would be epic. EU server - Bartz / NA server - Teon

Now seriously, since both servers are servers with old playerbases let's name them after two old wise men from green HV and respectively the canyon-y Wastelands.
Over a hundred million years, the globe began to grow and eventually two powers slowly began to form within. As they grew, the powers developed consciousness and ego and separated into white light and darkness. White light formed as female and called itself Einhasad. The darkness formed as male and named itself Gran Kain. These two beings marked the beginning of the entire universe, and all that we know today.

we get its a new server, but removing teon from the na/eu servers is like removing the only known server from the na/eu linegae 2 experience. i dont see why there is a need for a change at all, or why teon cant be one of the voting options.

Well Moxie, I understand NCsoft want a new server and it will be a new server, but it is only a name nothing more, but you can see the peoples love this name and I think it isn't a big request from them to keep this name. I would like to if the European server's name in the future too will be Teon.
Of course, we won't be angry for the new name, but if the NCWest with the two new servers want and will solve the problems what is currently mean problem for the peoples we will happy for the new and will forget the old ones without problems.:)

It's not only for nostalgic purposes. There's quite a lot brand equity too. Teon was always strong and competitive. For many years it was an perfect example of balanced server. I think if you look at players question thread you will find that every suggestion for a new players was Teon and there's a lot of reasons why.

Well I suggest you to put up an option for Teon anyway. If many people want it to still be named Teon, there is no reason why it should not.
But if there is some werd reason why the community should not be able to pick the name they really want ( if it is that most people want it to be named Teon that is ) the suggestion about Einhasad and Gran Kain on the two servers seems to fit.

jeah, why do you cast a vote if we might not vote to keep the name? ... it wont be a NEW server anyways because Teon was there first and then the others came. Why should TEON be punished just because the two other servers are in lack of population
I vote +1 TEON at least give the community the choice if we even want the idea of a NEW server.

I would say Utopia for EU, I never played on US servers so it's not up to me to think of a new name.
I choose Utopia because one of the goals of the merge is to create an ideal community and envirement.

the fact of the matter is, all other servers have always been regarded as less than teon. teon is considered the big leagues of servers, while the others are just places people where went to L2P or bot. why else did whole parties leave franz/luna/NA servers to come to teon? why else does teon have some of the best oly farmers? why does teon have the most pvp? why does teon have the most history in the media?
everyone knows about the itt/exile war. everyeone knows about the famous chars that graced our server. everyone who is completely end game knows that teon is where the action is, is the best place to test their skills, is where the most competition is.
and whoever said dvp is famous because he killed someone, you have no clue what he did in the game when he played. no clue...
why not just give an option to for all current eu server names to have a chance of being voted for and lets see who wins. i'll bet its teon.

Btw we could add condition in the pool that Name Teon would only stay if complete majority would vote for it. What I mean that Teon wouldn't be the name if it wins by 1 or 5%, but if it wins by more than 20% or so.

Since when did the name of a server ever have anything to do with the drama on it? You use it as an association sure, but that's about it. It couldn't have been called 'Server 3' and it would still amount to the same thing.
Regardless of how rich Teon's history has been, a server merge is the creation of something 'new' out of something 'old'. Just because you think you're server is more important than the other euro servers doesn't change that...

Because when the merge is done, the politics of ITT/X will stay as the main central war. Most all top groups on Franz and Luna are already talking with ITT/X on how to get their constants into those clans/allies. Other clans on Franz/Luna don't have the power to legitimately compete on Teon at the moment without allying with one of the power houses.
So the question is, if the main wars don't change, the main leaders don't change, the main politics dont change, why change the server name? NCsoft might as well merge Luna and Franz onto Teon, because that is what it is basically doing.
You can state things about mobs, weapons, and lvls, but you miss the entire point. Teon is and always has been the major server for PvP, balance and community. The new server will be Teon Version 2.0. no matter how anyone looks at it. There is no clan coming over that will compete against ITT/X, as they dont have the gear, lvls, or experience to do it. And even if they did compete, they would assume a position such as FuriousRage and not be one of the main clans, but a friendly force along side exile or ITT.
You can make all sorts of claims on how Franz or Luna is a better server. You can talk about bots which is funny considering when Franz and Luna opened there where chars getting hero within the first few months. You can talk about these uber parties that are on Luna and Franz. Most all the "good" parties came to Teon, but the majority either quit or got rolled. A few players still exist who were and still are good players.
Teon is the big leagues in Oly and PvP. We have had active PvP ever since the main server war started over 4 years ago. Franz and Luna cant even shake a stick at the lvl of experience that the masses on Teon have in the main clans.
Am i saying that Franz and Luna don't have good players? Not at all, as I know some good players on those servers. But does Franz and Luna have full skilled lvl 11 clans with almost all clan skills stacked with everyone being lvl 84 or 85 with imba gear and ridiculous amount of experience raiding, pvping and sieging? Not a chance.
But by all means, server name aside, please feel free to make a 3rd side in the politics on Teon. I hope you succeed as it is more fun with 3 sides. but from what I have heard and seen about Franz and Luna, it wont happen.
A third side on Teon is impossible.. people are too greedy, lazy, <insert_correct_word>....
They prefer sucking up to one of the existing sides.
And on top of that.. nowadays.. people don't try to join up.. or start on the losing side.. and work their way up. Teon has pvpers.. yes.. some good. some are just lolable(talking about top clans)... but 95% of them are too lazy to work from scratch.
Last ones that tried it.. were Right.. but even so, atm.. they join up with X on sieges... well.. at least they try to balance the server.. since the rest is all on ITT side... no wonder the server is unbalanced.
If you ask me.. *** sides.. but if I was forced to choose one, I would take the weakest one every time.. because I like challenges...lvls.. gear? /care.. last guy that tried to force me out of my XP spot.. got vortexed, slugged.. then BSOEd.. came with 4 and pked me.. LOL.. GF.. 5 ppl for a neutral 79 STS...clan.. DH. I would apply the same treatment to any clan, neutral, carebear, top, wannabe top.. etc... and I advise all the other clans to do the same.. you would be surprised on what might happen next.

ITT has organization, X has numbers, its always been that way. Currently ITT has hazard (half filled clan) and DH (they are reforming themselves) vs. Redsky/storm, FR and the handful of other random clans.
LOL at the luca story, I can't imagine luca crying about that, as i can see him snapping and going on a pk rampage.
Also, i dont know many parties in either clan who back down from fights with neutrals trying to take their spots. Most neutrals that i come in contact with get rolled and then call in exile to gank us. and then cry some more when you pk them relentlessly for being dumb.
and regarding a 3rd side, i hope to god a 3rd side shows up, i really do. it will make the server more fun, and im pretty sure everyone else end game also wants a 3rd side. however, i find it hard to beleive that a 3rd side could emerge and be a powerhouse like ITT/X, unless we get lucky enough and NCsoft allows Nova to transfer everything to the new EU server (that would be epic) but im sure Nova is happy about all the new noobs they will get to fight now.
Since when did the name of a server ever have anything to do with the drama on it? You use it as an association sure, but that's about it. It couldn't have been called 'Server 3' and it would still amount to the same thing.
Regardless of how rich Teon's history has been, a server merge is the creation of something 'new' out of something 'old'. Just because you think you're server is more important than the other euro servers doesn't change that...
How come server name doesn't have any connections with it's community? Community is why servers is known in the first place.
You again highlight the creation of something new, but in EU case there will be nothing new. Once people will log in there will be no thrill nothing. People will log in into same old Teon as before merge so why not to keep calling it Teon?

IMHO.. enough with the mentality I was "forced" to follow, when I transferred to Teon.. it was like: "Don't flag on X/ITT or they will kill you".. come on.. most of them BSOE and don't come back.. the others die and spend 3h crying to you in PMs... and there are some others.. that cried to their clan leader to war my clan, because we defended our XP spot vs a Hazard party [(c) Democratus]... yes the current hero... I was in vent with LucasMistral.. and he(Demo) started crying in vent that his 9 member party was zergged by my 68-80 5 member party.. LOL.. I should've frapped that..

Nova is the example of what too much people joining the same side will cause. They killed the competition on every server they went to.. and then spent QQing and botting.
*Not new at all. After merges Teon population will prolly be over 50% of the new server population. Furthermore top Teon alliances(X, ITT, FR) will have absolutely 0 threat as there's no clans in either Luna or Franz that could stand those. On the new NA servers there's going to be powershifting and new powerhouses will emerge however it's not the case here in Europe. Teons power is strong and it's not going anywhere.
Conclusion: player wise and politics wise it's Teon and it will be Teon.
Pretty much +1 on this. Teon is Teon; no amount of people and whole clans transferring to it ever made a difference to the basic politics; there were no huge power shifts, there were no new powers emerging. They got assimilated into the bigger alliances and ended yet another part of Teon. This is how it always was, this is how it always will be.
If we can't keep Teon ... well, "Lucifer" isn't in L2 lore, is he? Then I'll nominate Shilen then.
